Passing through Paso Robles, wine was non-negotiable. Most places in the area require appointments, which we did not have, because we are spontaneous like that. My wife walked up to someone outside Linne Calodo and asked if they could squeeze in two people for a tasting. They said yes. Best unplanned decision of the trip. Here is where it gets good. There is a guy standing outside and I casually ask if he happens to be with the winery. Turns out it was Matt, the owner and winemaker himself. What followed was essentially a private masterclass: he walked us through the entire winemaking process, took us into the main fermentation and storage room, did proper pours, and spent real time talking about Paso Robles and his philosophy behind his wines and the blends. No rush, no clipboard, no tour-group energy. And then he let us blend with him. Actually blend. Walking from barrel to barrel, making our own concoctions, like we knew what we were doing, which we did not, but Matt made it feel like we did. Easily the best hour we spent in Paso Robles. Possibly the best winery experience we have had in a very long time, and we have had a few. This place is the real deal, the kind of spot that reminds you why Paso Robles wine country is worth visiting beyond the Instagram backdrops. I had a tasting reserved for four and informed the staff at check-in that we were arriving with a slightly larger group, though only four of us were participating. Instead of handling it professionally, the woman assisting us was openly rude -- eye-rolling, huffing, under the breath remarks, and an overall tone that made us feel like an inconvenience. I completely understand that tasting rooms have capacity limits, but professionalism and basic courtesy go a long way. Unfortunately, the rocky start impacted the rest of the visit. The wine itself was mediocre, the pours were extremely small, and the tasting experience felt rushed and uninspired. I only participated this was a family trip and my MIL had prepaid for the tasting, but overall it was not an experience I would have chosen otherwise. On a recent girls weekend in Paso, we had a reservation for a seated tasting at Linne Calodo Cellars. I wish I had taken more exterior/interior pics of their tasting room which is nestled in a live oak forest surrounded by vines. The architecture is so fitting for its location, with dramatic lines, high ceilings, and soaring windows. Our server Christina, who grew up in our town of Temecula, walked us through our tasting. It was fun hearing the stories behind some of their creatively named estate grown wines - Contrarian, Level Headed (my fav), Martian...and some others that I would buy just to gift for fun to the appropriately-named people - Problem Child, Overthinker, Perfectionist, Nemesis, Sticks & Stones. One thing I didn't care for was the idea of pre-poured flights - all the wines were poured and at table when we sat down. I believe I read somewhere afterwards that we could have opted for individual pours from one glass, which is what I would recommend. Didn't have a good experience here - our hostess was in a rush the entire time, came and poured our wines and left immediately after each pour rushing to the back. Personality felt cold, we didn't feel welcome, she looked like she wanted to be somewhere else - maybe just a bad day. Wines were okay, but after tasting better ones earlier we just wanted to leave as soon as we were finished. The other guy pouring to another party next to us was a lot more welcoming, warmly described each wine, welcomed questions, came and checked on them, and offered pours not part of the tasting at the end. read more

I have never been to a winery where I have liked each and every wine so much that I wanted a bottle of each, that was until I came to Linne Calodo. We didn't have a reservation, but called in and asked if they'd be able to take us on a Saturday morning, they said that they'd have room at their bar and if we wanted that we could come on in. We tasted at the bar with Erika and for the most part received her undivided attention. We worked our way through the tasting menu which included 5 wines and enjoyed an extra pour of their rosé, we then even got to try some of their secondary Slacker label wines as well. These wines were just as good, and at a more affordable price point. Aside from the wonderful wines and fantastic service from Erika, the tasting room was beautiful, the flights were served with marcona almonds, and we even got glimpses of their cute winery cat. Overall a fantastic visit. Since the wines were on pricier side, my bank account sadly didn't let me go home with a bottle of each like I had wanted to, but I still walked out of there with 4 wines, all of which I can't wait to drink. My friends and I came into town for a Birthday trip this past labor day weekend. Linne Caloda was always on our list because I had won a tasting for four at a work function the previous year....well, we were blown away by the quality of the wine, generosity and friendliness of the staff. First of all - we forgot to make reservations for the holiday weekend...and Linne said they were booked. When my boyfriend called to see if there was anything they could do, they happily fit all 5 of us in at the bar inside. Almost all the way to Paso from Los Angeles, I realized that I had left my gift certificate at home...crushed, I called them to see if they would possibly still honor it. I was called back first thing in the morning by Chase, who was so friendly and told me...yes of course they would honor my gift certificate and I could send a picture of it when I got home...to top it off...when we got in for our tasting and Chase realized it was my Birthday trip...he gave us our 5th tasting for free as well! Chase was pouring for us that afternoon...and was SO informative. We loved the information about the Vineyard and the property...complete with fossils and a map of where they grow their grapes. We adored the wine...even our friend who is not a wine drinker had a couple of tastes that she LOVED. Chase was super down to earth and really made our experience above and beyond what we expected. We will definitely be recommending this place to anyone who goes up. read more

We spent a little time at this wonderful winery in Paso Robles. They have a tiny outdoor area, but very nice indoor seating . Extremely dog friendly as a matter of fact, they had a few in-house dogs roaming around. We decided to take their back table on the side of the winery so we could enjoy the charcuterie board that I had created with a Linne wine Park Party Tasting. It was so cute. Their dogs kept running over in between our legs, trying to get a little taste of the prosciutto and Gouda cheese that I had laid out. We fell in love with the 2022 rising tides , And our favorite was the 2018 Martian They also have an estate olive oil, that was so nutty, very flavorful. Beautiful tasting room and property, we brought some sandwiches and ate out on the covered patio(they don't allow food inside). It was raining but we were covered and had a nice heater on behind us. Our hostess was friendly and attentive. Linne Calodo is on the pricy side of paso but it has a long established history and really rich wines, it was nice learning about each wine and its significance on the tasting menu. I'd take my wine loving in-laws here for the yummy wines and beautiful setting. I probably would not take my first time wine tasting friends because of the bottle prices that would shock them, but it is still a very nice experience and perfect to impress any wine snobby friends you may have! read more

Lets just start of by saying.... Blown Away! So much so, that we became club members. We stumbled upon LC wandering around Paso one day. We were treated so well by the staff even though we are not wine snobs. The architecture of the tasting room is stunning and the location is nestled in beautiful trees. The reds that Linne Calodo produce rival some of the best Napa wines (yeah, that would be Silveroak, Caymus which we also love). Oh yeah, their olive oil is terrific too. Reading some of the other reviews, I can't believe anyone would leave a negative review over tasting fees. Good grief. If you're in Paso and love bold reds, LC is a must hit. read more

Great facility- clean, high-end, and beautifully set in a canyon of oaks (don't want to know we're all those oaks went!). Wine is terrific, great GSM and the cherry red is quite unique. Absolutely a gorgeous job on the design and landscaping- dead quiet and tranquil. Ambiance was a little too much like a ladies tea party though, a bit overly quiet, can't recall any supplementary efforts in that direction. Maybe purposefully? But... while $40 tasting is not the biggest deal, we didn't really feel the value was there. Mainly in comparing to the knowledge, explanation and discussions had by the staff members at the table next to us, or that we have at most other wineries, breweries or otherwise. So in comparison our staff member was very limited in their explanations beyond a script, left us all wanting much more. A few of our conversational questions couldn't be answered, not a much enthusiasm.. kind of just blah. And this is fine for a walk-in tasting room, standing around in a busy place, but with a reservation, it being harvest season (to which she answered, "I think things are going fine" when we asked about harvest, a conversation starter that could go many directions with most), it was a dry experience. Additionally, we called and asked about food and we're told they don't serve any but no issues otherwise. So we brought some chips, hummus, etc. and we're quickly told it draws bees and they don't leave. A) wine is sugar-based, sweet and in a field of oak trees it's no secret to bees it's there. It's not going to be the hummus that draws them, good grief. B) she told us we're free to sit and snack around the corner, literally less than 20 feet away. So the bees don't visit there? Lol. Pretty offputting all in all compared to dozens of other experiences wine tasting. Last, there were very, very few customers, so it's not like it was even that busy. We live 2 miles away, i'm sure they thought we were tourists, but I don't think we'll be returning or sending friends there unfortunately. read more

The facility and location is stellar. The staff seemed very knowledgeable. But a $40 tasting fee is high for the area and only waived for a 3 bottle purchase (which also is high). But when bottles start at $95 going up to $148, it better knock my socks off, and it didn't. Have to give props to this winery for excellent service along with my favorite setting with four kittens playing next to us! Who wouldn't want to wine taste with kittens? We made a reservation with the help of Grapeline (our tour company) but when we arrived Mark checked us in and led us to our requested outdoor table in the shade of the building. He hung out with us and explained some fantastic wine info. The kittens were such a bonus but the wines were great too. We ended up buying 6 bottles of "In your dreams" which we are all loving and might have to buy more of. Really nice setting and service. read more

Incredible collection of red blends, albeit pricey. The Sticks and Stones and the Martian hit the spot but should be cellared for a while to develop greater maturity. We like to visit small wineries rather than visit famous wineries. Their wines look quite unique and interesting so it made us to visit there. The quality of wine is outstanding and we end up got membership there. Also it seems like their wines are not always available and very limited. Since they didn't have wines what we wanted try, we got membership to get them later. The cellar is beautiful but it doesn't have views like others have. We also wish to get more information. However I'm still glad to find this winery and want to visit there again. read more

Beautiful red wines that are bold and yet somehow super-refined. Linne Calodo was an unlikely choice for me, but I'm making it a goal to try every winery in the area. I've even created a map to with push-pins to keep myself accountable! I made reservations for our group of 8 and they accommodated us perfectly with a table. Our host was incredibly knowledgeable and very friendly. I liked how they served all our wines first so we could sip, swirl, and explore at leisure. It made the tasting experience more enjoyable. The interior is absolutely gorgeous. Modern-rustic is absolutely how it was designed and definitely a place I could see myself living! The artwork was especially fun. Those crows!!! Definitely, call and make an appointment to try Linne Calodo's wines. While a little pricey, they are worth the expense. read more

We enjoyed our tasting here. The tasting room is beautiful and I found the wines to be elegant. Like other reviewers, I was turned off by the high price of the $40 tasting, and how expensive the bottles were. The four of us walked away with one $100 bottle, and $160 in tasting fees, and the experience did not feel worth it. I did not leave with a feeling of connection to the story of the winery or its mission. A small observation, but I also did not love how all the wines were poured right away. I would have preferred to enjoy and savor one wine at a time and not feel like it was an assembly line of wines. I probably will not recommend this winery to others. read more

Visited Linne Calodo based on my having tasted it at a friend's home. He has a truly world-class cellar and is the wine guru of our group of 12 winos. So, when he recommended visiting Linne Calodo, there was no question from me. As with most facilities in Paso Robles (correctly pronounced PAH-so ROE-blehs), this one is small and unassuming. The staff are super friendly and laid back. The wines are top notch featuring big noses, a robust flavor profile, great acidity, and well-integrated tannings. These drink well now but can easily cellar for years to come. Great quality/price ratio. Compared to equivalent wines from Napa Valley, expect to pay about 50% less. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. read more

We spent a delightful evening attending a Winemakers dinner featuring Linne Calodo wines. It was an intimate dinner for 12 guests with winemaker, Meghan Ball, from Linne Calodo Winery. The a five course menu featured rich and intense rhone varietals and zinfandel wines. The dinner was held at Trelio in Clovis California. It is one of the best fine dining restaurants in Fresno. The meal they prepared for the winemakers dinner was exquisite. The meal included a unique variety of foods to eat and drink with a variety of Linne Calodo wines. Each menu item was served with a special wine. We were served Buttered Poached Scotia Lobster (Contrarian), Roasted Leg of Lamb (Problem Child), a spicy Moroccan Chickpea Stew (Rising Tides), and a 60 Day Dry Aged Prime Ribeye (Perfectionist). It was a real treat! The dessert was a Diplomat Pudding and Pistachio Gelato. The special aspect of the dinner with Meghan Ball was her knowledge about the wines and the processing of the wines. We were able to ask questions and discuss the wines. It was also so much fun meeting and interacting with everyone in this small group of wine lovers. If there is a winemakers dinner with Linne Calodo wines near you, I highly recommend that you do everything you can to attend it. Fabulous! read more

The owner contacted me and said my Yelp made a difference and has dropped the extra $10 sharing the tasting fee. Linne Calodo does produce some of the finest wines of Paso Robles but currently because of the limited production it seems you are not able to purchase the fine wines unless you are a member at the current tasting. I would always recommend the wines to anyone. When you make your reservation you might want to ask if they HAVE any wines to sell you. The $20 tasting fee is a serious commitment to the purchase of wine, you are not just drinking here. I see that as a waste of my time and money since I wasn't able to purchase here. read more

For me, the gate and exclusivity of needing a reservation is a bit of a turn off. I've done the whole Napa reservation only thing enough times to know that this isn't how I like to go wine tasting... But of course the hubby, who's a bit of a wine aficionado made a reservation and away we went. Beautiful tasting room. Open and bright building with a very friendly staff as well. The wine is very good. Expensive. No waive of the tasting fee even with a decent sized purchase. Despite all the Wine Spectator buzz, I'm not sure if I'd make a return trip... there are so many great wines in Paso which are very similar in taste and quality to Linne Calodo that are priced far less... and don't require a reservation or gate code. read more

First, there is construction taking place. The tasting room is hard to find and at one point we parked and ended up at an office on the grounds and they directed us to the actual tasting room. Lots of dust and climbing over construction to get inside their warehouse where a small corner was set aside for tasting. The young girl working the counter seemed to know a bit about the wine but beyond that it was apparent she was no wine expert. Their wines are good and interesting blends including Rhone varietals. I liked the wines. When I looked at the price sheet though, I was shocked. The wine is terribly overpriced. I forget this business can be about marketing. If you make a halfway decent wine, the key is to market it properly. Name your wine interesting names, ensure high alcohol content and create a buzz. Then you can sell the stuff for more than it is worth. Sorry, but at $65 a bottle, I would rather buy some blockbuster zins for less at Turley down the road. Plus, after climbing through a construction area to get to their tasting room, I cannot believe they are charging a tasting fee at all. read more
