Walking up to the winery - a huge grin was on my face as they had primitivo vines out front. The winery is off the beaten path and has amazing bold red wines. Susan was our host and was friendly and attentive. We also had the opportunity to meet the wine maker and his wife who were absolutely wonderful and funny. All the wines we tried were delicious. The 2019 Celestial Delight, Malbec and Tannat were our favorites. We loved the wine and the people, thus we became members. Can't wait to come back!

We were recommended by Penman Springs to try this place out. This place was a nice hidden gem for red wines. It said by appointment only on yelp so we called to see if we could drop in. The lady said yes. It was empty when we arrived. It was a Thursday around 2pm. The owner is from New Orleans. They have outdoor and indoor tasting. The Cabernet, Jubilador, Malbec, and Grenache rose were all good. But we loved the Cab that was $28. $15 tasting fee but waived if we bought a bottle per tasting. We bought 3 cabs to-go. It's that good, bold, and smooth! Give this place a try if you love reds. You won't be disappointed. One of our favorite wineries besides Calcareous and Penman Springs. I think you can maybe bring snacks if you sit outdoors. I didn't see them sell food.

Where else can you get six solid wines to tasre for $10?

Our second time to visit Barr Estates and we thoroughly enjoyed it again. Their Albarino is smooth and refreshing, and one of the reasons we wanted to visit Barr Estates again. We really liked their rose from Malbec grapes. Tempranillo, the Jubilado (a cab blend), and Petite Syrah are all wonderful. Love that the tasting list had recommended pairings. Tealy (pourer and owner) was delightful and we loved talking with her. Enjoyed every one of their wines and the prices are so very reasonable we left with a mixed case.

We were very excited to visit Barr Estate Winery. It is a quaint place with a low key vibe. All of their wines are fantastic. I love that it is a family owned and run winery. My parents became members and bought a case of wine. I also picked up 3 bottles. They are all fantastic but I do think their Malbec is something special. I hope you stop by and try them out. Check there hours I believe their tasting room is open Fri-Sun. I really should've taken more pictures of the beauty of the vineyard.

Hands down, the gold standard in Paso Robles…read more If you're wondering where Paso Robles truly shines, it's Cass Winery. Full stop. Cass is Rhône varietals done right... from celebratory bubbles and beautiful blush wines to crisp full whites and ruby-red blends that remind you why you started drinking wine in the first place. The winemaking team is creative, disciplined, and consistently delivers winners across the board. This is not a "one good bottle" winery - it's an across-the-board yes. And then there's lunch. Hello. Dining among the grapevines with their on-site garden, wood-fired pizza oven, and chefs who clearly understand that wine deserves a proper supporting cast is an experience all its own. It's relaxed, delicious, and dangerously easy to lose track of time. Dog people, rejoice: well-behaved pups are welcome, and honestly, it sometimes feels like Cass Winery & AKC Kennel Club (said with affection). Très français, really. Events are another reason Cass stands apart. There's an abundance of them -- many complimentary for wine club members -- and they sell out fast for good reason. These aren't filler events; they're thoughtfully curated experiences, often with meals that turn into memories and strangers who become friends by dessert. Cass Winery doesn't just pour wine -- it creates afternoons, evenings, and traditions you'll want to repeat. If you're building a list of must-visit wineries in Paso Robles, this one belongs at the top. Highly recommend. Always.

At Sculpterra…read more... They are in the business of turning water into wine....... One grape at a time!!! Yeah, I didn't believe it either, but then I saw a sign in their vineyard that proved me wrong. It read: "Water into Wine" And now, I'm a believer! So what brought us to this magical place you ask?? Well, besides the obvious (the wine).... It was the.... ok you caught me!! We came for the wine! Yeah, we were staying at the Ava Hotel in Paso for my wife's birthday weekend (definitely check this place out if you are looking for a beautiful spot to call home away from home) And being that we were in wine country.... We wanted a nice outdoor vineyard where our kids could be outside, run around, and get all of their energy out all while Mommy & Daddy had our own little R&R time sippin' on the good stuff. And let me tell you, it was Good Stuff! When we first arrived at Sculpterra, we already knew the place was going to be a hit as the parking lot was hoppin. And apparently we weren't the only ones that got the memo that this place was THE PLACE to be as it was just a little bit off the beaten trail from where we started out... Approximately 6 miles from "Downtown Paso" (through the city limits, down the 'ol country back roads and suddenly we were in wine country!) Prior to heading to the vineyard, we did a quick pit stop at McDonalds for the kids so they had something they liked. As for me and my wife, we opted to get some of the local fare items offered on site, cause what goes better with wine than a yummy charcuterie board? I'll answer that momentarily! But wait, theres more!!!! Upon finding a nice little table outdoors to sit and relax with our wine chilled in a bucket of ice, there was suddenly music to our ears and Love to my eyes! Yes, there was lovely Live Music being played by a band and out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a food truck serving Mexican Food from a local Mexican restaurant. Remember earlier when I said what goes better with wine than a charcuterie board? Well, if you guessed a little Mexican Food, then you are oh so right, but only in moderation! So in order not to ruin the good vibes of the beautiful vino from Sculpterra, I opted for just one taco and a cup of their poblano soup and man was it fire. The soup was piping hot and it had a kick of spice that made me spice from ear to ear. As far as the wine, the vineyards vibe and the entire aesthetic of the grounds, Sculpterra Winery & Sculpture Gardens (the vineyard was adorned with many abstract and contemporary pieces that are all photo worthy), this place checks all the boxes. The place is kid friendly as there is plenty of space, both indoors and out, with areas for the kids to throw a ball, run around, or even learn to play a g as a game of chess. A decent variety of Reds, Whites, & Blends are all up for grabs, so if you find yourself in Paso Robles with the fam or its just you and your hunny, definitely come check this place out and watch the miracle of them turning water into wine!

By the end, pretty much everyone in our group had found a wine they wanted to take home--including the ones who swore they weren't buying anything. Dennis, our Tasting Room Host, made the experience. He was warm, very knowledgeable, and genuinely engaging with everyone--from the serious wine lovers to our six-year-old--while keeping things professional and elevated. The whole visit struck that rare balance: polished without feeling formal, refined without ever feeling rushed or "in-and-out." Dennis has been with Eberle since 2017, and you can feel how much he cares about the place. He spoke about the winery with such genuine pride, and as you look around the tasting room at the rows of award ribbons from years of vintages, it hits you--this is a place with real history behind it. That sense of legacy and care is woven into the whole experience. The historic wine caves are a must, the complimentary tasting felt generous and unhurried, and the grounds have that unmistakable Paso magic--rolling hills, big oaks, golden light, and room to breathe. We even crossed paths with Gary Eberle (founder, 1979) and his sweet black poodle, Vieto--one of those authentic, only-in-wine-country moments that sums up the welcoming spirit here. If you go, ask for Dennis--he turned our first visit into one we'll plan future trips around. Good to know before you visit: * Make a reservation--it gets busy * Don't skip the cave tour (you can even taste down there) * Large lawn & games--great for kids and mixed groups * Very dog-friendly * Private, romantic tastings available in the caves * Complimentary tastings + military discount available * Plan to stay a while...and bring your camera :)
