High Camp Estate was just wonderful and we became members! We love the location - it is a little off the beaten path and the property is well kept and clean! The views are amazing and the wine was even better! Erin took care of us and she was so friendly! We also met Spencer, keep up the great work guys! Can't wait to see all the pups again!

Barrel tasting of petit Syrah, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon.

I had occasion to visit this winery and loved talking with a lady winemaker and doing barrel tastings of some amazing wines (though the Petit Syrah was my fave and am really hoping they bottle this as a single varietal vs. blend--it was SO good)! As for wines already bottled, although they had some nice Pinots, I really loved the Rose' and had to take a few bottles home. All of the staff pouring were super friendly. It is DEFINITELY worth driving down the road a few more minutes from neighbor Villa San Juliette to try out this amazing winery. It is dog friendly with doggy hosts 'Penelope and Pluto,' a pair of very sweet pups!! The tasting room even had a few treats you could buy to reward your favorite canine friend. The grounds were both beautiful and peaceful...lots of outdoor seating options, including quite a few fire pits with surrounding seating. I definitely want to return with some friends to share this cool, new find!!

A little off the beaten path, but well worth the trip to discover it, High Camp winery is a fabulous location. This family owned & operated winery sits along the Pleasant Valley Wine Trail, and is a must stop for the offerings and the ambiance. Megan and Spencer have created an ideal Paso wine-tasting experience for the visitors to their tasting room. High Camp offers wines from some of the oldest vines in the Paso Robles wine district. The reds are well balanced and their whites are crisp and refreshing. I especially like that the reds are not too tannin rich, "chalky". The winery offers a nice outdoor tasting area that is ideal for you to grab sandwiches or snacks to bring with you during your visit. For the quintessential ambiance and experience of Paso Wine Country, this is the place for you.

I am not a huge wine person... with that said.. we went to an event at High Camp Wines and had the best time!! And!! Get this.. their wine was delicious! The Venue: The venue was very easy to find and they have clear signage at the end of the driveway as well!! No issues at all arriving. There is plenty of seating, shaded areas and even room for caterers if there was an event. This particular day they had "Sugar Lips Donuts" from SLO parked nearby the wine-tasting area, to provide snacks for everyone. You're able to wander, enjoy the beautiful vines and all of the breathtaking views this area has to offer! The wine: as stated before, I am not a huge wine person. I do have a sweet tooth and mostly prefer champagnes and sparkling wines. With that said.. the Albarino!!!!! I have been thinking about that Albarino and I will return to buy a few bottles! Their Rosé was also very smooth and delicious! They also offer a wine club subscription that you can sign up on there or online!! Have I mentioned the Albarino?! Lol they also have the standards like Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. They also have tasting tours to their cellar room, in which they let you try some of their finest wines! Definitely recommend! The Owners: This winery is under new ownership, but they are really working hard to build it up! While they do have their own in-house wines, they are also currently bringing in other wines from other parts of the Central Coast! The added details!! -Dogs allowed. In fact they have 2 adorable furry children running around and grounds. -They have a designated parking lot, if a decent size! You do take a few small roads to get here and hit a bit of dirt road action when you get into the property, but no issues for cars at all. -Their website has a lot more information as well. Please go to high campeones.com for additional details! Enjoy and Cheers!!

High Camp, you are truly bringing a bright ray of sunshine to the already amazing Pleasant Valley Trail of Paso Robles. Everything you have created, including the wine of course, is a sheer delight! Can't wait to return with my possy! Cheers, Vania

Courtyard, picnic area

Great small family owned winery with a laid back atmosphere and great wines. We loved the Tres Coyote red blend, it rivals any Napa & Sonoma wines. Great picnic spot under the beautiful Oak tree.

I love stopping by Ranchita Canyon whenever I'm in the Paso Robles area. It's a laidback, dog friendly place, with excellent wines and olive oil. I went last Sunday afternoon (4/3/22) for about an hour for a wine tasting. Only one other set of people were there, so it was really chill and relaxing. Had a few friends and a couple dogs with me and it was so nice on the patio. Nice bar area inside for those who'd rather saddle up to a bar for wine, and they also have some merch and a nice and clean restroom. Highly recommend!

What an extraordinary find. They're two years old and starting off on a great path. Their first wines were quite good.

I explained I had been to a few other wineries on the San Miguel side and he said, you know, we're part of the Pleasant Valley Wine Trail (13 wineries on the San Miguel side). I didn't even know about that, but come to find out some of the wineries I previously visited were part of the trail. I was thankful to Pedro for this, as it helped me plan out the rest of that day on the trail. This particular trip to Paso was a few days before the Labor Day holiday weekend. I wanted to get away, but also wanted to be as safe as possible, by going at a time where I felt there would be fewer people. In the morning a few hours before my visit, Vicky called to confirm my appointment. I appreciated that and I'm sure she did too. Vino Vargas is on the far end of the trail, so it's a little bit of the beaten path, but so worth it. Because appointments are highly recommended during this time of COVID, I happened to be fortunate enough to be the only one at the winery at that time. It was such a great experience. I was able to have a great (socially distanced) conversation with Vicky. Learned so much about her and Pedro's wine-making journey, and the wines they make. I suspect it's not something that would happen with much regularity on any non-COVID style scenario where tasting rooms are typically full or busy. The wines were also delicious. I'm not much of a white wine drinker, so I passed on that option on the tasting menu and went straight for the reds. I wound up buying four bottles - 2017 Toro Tinto Tempranillo, 2016 Rio Ruso Pinot Noir, 2017 El Taxi Cabernet, and Paso Rosa Rosé Dessert Wine. I was very luck to have gotten one of the very last bottles of the Paso Rosa and I was thrilled, because it is absolutely delicious. If you can make Vino Vargas part of your Paso Robles adventure, I would highly recommend it. Pedro and Vicky are the nicest and so love what they do. Their wines speak so much about the care they take in making them.

We planned a trip to see his farm on the last day of our trip. I sadly can't drink right now, so what else is there to do outside of family activities and wineries? Olive oil farming! It was a great way to end our time on the central coast. Richard started by telling us about his story of becoming the Olive oil man. He helped us learn about Olive trees (we had brought a branch from our tree), the olives themselves, and the milling process. He brought us into his tasting room, and we tried various oils and a vinegar, as wells as a few flavor pairings. We really have a new appreciation for not only olives, Olive oils, and farming, but Richard and smaller, non-commercial farmers. Every bottle is a labor of love crafted by him, his wife, and even his dog. The visit felt like we had visited an uncle, and we did buy oils (he definitely doesn't ask you to, but after tasting then and knowing the process, you definitely want to.) We were going to send some as gifts, but it's hard to appreciate something as much unless you've experienced it. We experienced the San Miguel Olive Farm and we're better for it. Thanks again Richard! We definitely will try to come up one October to experience the harvesting to complete the journey.

It is owned and operated by Mr. Dennis Degher, a kind experienced gentleman who knows how to show his guests a nice time. Wine tasting is $30 per person, waived with the purchase of wine. Wine tasting is by appointment only. We made an 11 am appointment for a Thursday morning. There is an automatic gate at the bottom of the hill and you call to have it opened when you arrive. Mr. Degher greeted us when we arrived at the top of the hill. He has an indoor and outdoor tasting area. It was such a beautiful morning, we did our tasting on the patio outdoors. We tried several wines, including a Viognier, Chardonnay, a couple grenaches, a few cab blends, and a beautiful unfiltered port. All the wines we tried were very good. After tasting wine, Mr. Degher took us for stroll around his property. He gave us cuttings of rosemary, lavender, oregano, and bay leaf. We bought 4 bottles of wine, which waived our tasting fee. Mr. Degher is also an accomplished musician who has composed and performed many songs, which he has recorded and can be purchased on CD. Don't miss an opportunity to visit this beautiful little gem at the top of the hill!
