Little did we know that we lived about 10 minutes apart, found this tidbit out a in 2025, while talking to Tealy, who makes the experience at Barr second to none! This has been a favorite stop of my girlfriend, who has been a long time wine club member with Barr, from her days of driving limos for wine tasting, she always talked highly of their wines. Greg does excellent wine, across the board, from a simple Albarino to a more complex Cabernet Sauvignon or 6950 (Referring to the address of the winery), one of my favorites from Barr. The club is wonderful, where there are no added yearly fees, just good wine and discounts on wines, complementary tasting and private tours. One of the few destinations I really enjoy visiting off 46 east. The tasting room is co-located with the production facility, as you drive up through winding vineyards onto the property. The tasting room has indoor and outdoor seating. A small, bar with additional couch seating is available, while there are various Barr related items for sale. Behind the bar is where the magic is. The tasting lineup is very strong and if there are additional bottles open, you could receive a splash of something different. For me, it was the 2013 Grande Finale. Not a big dessert wine fan, but this excellent. I don't believe this is a single wine in our collection, since I've been introduced to Barr that is bad. The entire lineup is exceptional and there is usually something for everyone. for those cooks out there, I do recommend some of their olive oil. Devine! As of this review, I know they are trying to retire... again from the wine industry, hopefully Greg and Teally hang around for a bit longer, they do an excellent job when it comes to wine in Paso Robles. We discovered Ecluse two summers ago on our first trip to Paso Robles wine country, drawn in by the…read morereasonable tasting fee, the fact that it's family owned and operated, and that it's family friendly. What we didn't expect was to be completely blown away. The facility is on the smaller side without a lot of frills, but honestly that's part of the charm. The staff are warm and genuine, and you can feel their pride in both the winery and the wines they produce. The focus here is on GSM blends and other Rhône varietals, along with Bordeaux blends and varietals -- big, bold, and fruit-forward, but balanced enough to keep things interesting glass after glass. We had such a great experience that we joined the wine club before we left. We don't live locally, but the Ecluse Enthusiast membership is absolutely worth it -- especially with only a 6-bottle annual commitment. It's given us a great reason to make Paso an annual trip, and Ecluse is always one of our must-stop favorites. Since joining, the winery has gone through some exciting changes. They've built out a beautiful terrace overlooking the vineyard, and they were acquired by Thibido Winery. We were a little nervous about what that might mean for the brand we loved, but they've stayed true to keeping both labels separate and distinct -- and we've only benefited from it, since we now get to taste wines from both when we come for our annual pickup. We can't wait to spend more time on that terrace during our next visit. If you're putting together a Paso Robles wine itinerary, Ecluse deserves a spot on it.

Sadly it was pretty chilly when we were visiting so sitting outside wasn't in the cards for us, but it was still lovely to enjoy as we checked in. We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to seat us inside the tasting room, which was lucky because they filled up very quickly after we got there. Two of us ended up sharing the classic tasting, it came with 5 wines, and we got an extra bonus pour of another wine they had open. The tasting had 1 white and 4 reds when we were in. We were helped by Emily, she was great to chat with and knew a ton about the wine, winery, and Paso. My favorite thing about the tasting was that they had a section on the menu that talked about the 2023 vintage (all but one wine we tried were from 2023) and how it differed from 2022. It was great education and information on why the wine was the way it was that year. We didn't love any of the wines enough to take them home with us, but we did find that the 23's everywhere weren't our favorites, we'll have to come back once they have a new vintage!

On our last visit, we had the pleasure of being served by Tony for the first time. Tony is great with entertaining stories and recommendations for food pairing. He even introduced us to a website with delicious Italian recipes. The wine is fairly priced considering the high quality.

My wife walked up to someone outside Linne Calodo and asked if they could squeeze in two people for a tasting. They said yes. Best unplanned decision of the trip. Here is where it gets good. There is a guy standing outside and I casually ask if he happens to be with the winery. Turns out it was Matt, the owner and winemaker himself. What followed was essentially a private masterclass: he walked us through the entire winemaking process, took us into the main fermentation and storage room, did proper pours, and spent real time talking about Paso Robles and his philosophy behind his wines and the blends. No rush, no clipboard, no tour-group energy. And then he let us blend with him. Actually blend. Walking from barrel to barrel, making our own concoctions, like we knew what we were doing, which we did not, but Matt made it feel like we did. Easily the best hour we spent in Paso Robles. Possibly the best winery experience we have had in a very long time, and we have had a few. This place is the real deal, the kind of spot that reminds you why Paso Robles wine country is worth visiting beyond the Instagram backdrops. We were running the CA46 Wine Corridor and decided to go to Turley because it was "off the beaten…read morepath." My goal on this trip was to find some of the wineries that may not get as much traffic because they are off the road a ways. Turley has made a business out of buying up old vine Zinfendel crops either the entire winery or just buying the grapes, and bottling them. Their tasting area is very nice - open with umbrellas over the top. Tables are nice and stable, and the wine offerings were interested and all Zinfendel based. The staff was attentive, and provided water and a dump cup which is greatly appreciated. They operate on a mailing list basis - you can sign up, and if you see something you like, you can order it and they will send it to you. All the wines are from grapes they buy from vineyards, but ALL the wine is in Turley bottles. They aren't offering other firms wines, but when you look at the wine menu, you might be confused into thinking they are since they name the winery the grapes came from. There is a nice fountain, and they offer both indoor and outdoor seating options. Parking is good, and they even offer EV charging while you sip.

I didn't even take a picture of the flights of wine we tasted, though they were fantastic. The facilities here are great. You are on a multi-level terrace, at your own table. It's shaded. It's quiet. It's peaceful. It's beautiful. I am not a wine person. I usually opt for cocktails. But, we came here on a warm day in the late spring. Their white (or more accurately "lighter than red") wines are light and taste like summer. Summer in a glass. You can't go wrong with that. Our wine guide was fantastic. She spent a lot of time with us. Brought us some extra glasses. She was so knowledgeable and so personable. And she attained a first: got me to sign up for their wine club! All were pretty good and the white wines definitely had more tropical fruit notes associated with them. The reds were as you expected: big and bold. Had some oak to help mellow out the boldness but definitely a great wine to sip on. THE FINAL BAMBOO: For a red and a white tasting, the damage done here was around $50. They were smaller pours than typical but it was nice to try a lot of wines and def worth the money! Glena, the owner, gave us all the attention since there was no one else in there, but it was like we were having our own private wine experience! She was so sweet and nice and explained every wine. She told us all about the photos on the wall and how the creation of her wine labels were done in an environmentally conscious manner. So happy we stumbled in!
