We treat you like one of the family at ZANOLI. Making and sharing our wine is very personal, as is the experience you receive when visiting our tasting lounge. At our core, we believe that wine should be the centrepiece of every table. Shelly’s proven superpowers and joys are a knack for great design and bringing people together. She's created an intimate lounge environment—with reclaimed wood, shag accents, and family photos — where visitors can connect over wine, the ambiance, and just being in great company in a fun and casual setting. Leaning into her love of food and entertaining, we team up with local artisan food producers for events highlighting the incredible quality of our local ingredients and the food-friendly nature of our wines.
A love of vintage vinyl and the arts. We’re excited about all types of artistry beyond winemaking, especially music. Inspired by Jimmy’s grandfather’s extensive vinyl collection and his post-work wind-down routine of spinning cool tunes over a martini, we’ve extended our at-home aesthetic with a vintage vinyl area in the tasting room open to everyone. We encourage people to get hands-on and choose the album they want to hear because creating that perfect environment where the wine, people, and song all go together is just magic and creates a memory beyond just what’s in the glass. Our decor also reflects Shelly’s lifelong love of art and design.
History
Established in 2015.
An important part of our story is that in addition to decades-long careers in viticulture, winemaking, operations, and hospitality, we have deep family roots in California. We each come from five to six generations of California natives: Shelly in Orange County and Jimmy in San Luis Obispo County. Everything we do comes from a commitment to showcasing and preserving the place we love, not only for us to enjoy but also for our son Rocco and future generations.
Not many American wine families can trace their U.S. roots back to 1830, but Jimmy’s family emigrated from Italy to San Luis Obispo County. His family has been part of the community and region ever since. In 1998, his family continued the wine tradition and planted a dry-farmed, head-trained vineyard in the Templeton Gap District of the Paso Robles AVA. Jimmy grew up in the vineyard and wine business, developing a deep understanding and affinity for the region, specifically the western portion of the Paso Robles AVA.
Meet the Business Owner: Jimmy and Shelly Z.
Welcome to ZANOLI! We’re a husband-and-wife-run small Paso Robles winery with an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for making top-tier wines that showcase the incredible quality and range of our region’s viticulture. We make Rhone-style wines with California character, reflecting our love of and deep ties to the vineyards and sub-regions of Paso Robles.
We want a visit to ZANOLI to be like walking into our home, with vintage records, hand-picked decor, and seats perfect for sliding back in while you sip just a few of the personal touches of our tasting room lounge.
Our goal is to keep the conversation, music, and good wines flowing. If you make some new friends and learn a few things about what we do, how we do it, and why we love the world of wine as much as we do along the way, that's even better.
We fell in love over a shared passion for wine and hope to share our intimate connection to wine with you in everything we do.
Cheers!
Shelly and Jimmy
