Wow, just wow. Had our limo driver pick places & this was our favorite! Been coming here 30 years & this was pure perfection. Excellent location, wine & venue. We will be back!

My husband and I are from WA and this was our first trip to Paso for our Anniversary. As I work in the wine industry in WA I was very excited to get to know Central CA Pinot Noirs. We had been to several and had some good, some ok, bought a bottle here and there, but when we arrived at Jack Creek everything changed! John, the owner and winemaker was "filling in" that day and we got to really dive in to wine. For me it was perfect, getting to really discuss the varietals, the process, terroirs, farming and weather. And my husband and John really hit it off. Oh, the wine...The wine was Delicious!! We loved it so much we bought a case. Did I mention we live in WA? Had to figure out how to get THAT on the plane. But, John, and mostly his daughter Kelsey took care of that for us too. Easy Peasy. Love these guys, we'll be back for sure and bringing our friends with us!

This winery is known for Chardonnay and Pinot noirs. I liked one of the Pinot noirs. The perk is the winery dog Stella who greets you as you drive up.

John the vintner loves growing grapes and transforming the fruit into a great wine. Join him in the tasting room.

Wine tasting with the vintner John was a service and tour de force of knowledge, insight, and stories about wine making, microclimates, and agriculture. Taste after taste progressed in excellence finishing with the "Straight and Narrow," a wonderfully flavorful Grenache, but not your typical Grenache. Ask John about it! We talked and talked in the well appointed tasting room with such excellent views of the vineyards.

Not even all that sure about the wine. Our review is strictly based on their customer service. Our 4 month old puppy was bite under his eye by their dog and nobody so much as apologized. Our server asked us, would you like to pay for your flights or are you buying some bottles, that was the extent of it. Husband, wife, and daughter were all present and not one of the family members acknowledged that our puppy was bleeding from his face the entire time we were there. Completely took us out of the experience. Sad to say, it was handled poorly.

Let me begin by saying that you are just surrounded by vines and it was beautiful! They are pet friendly and they do have a winery dog as well that will come greet you. I am not usually a pinot fan but did really enjoy theirs, that hillside pinot is now my favorite pinot! They also opened a bottle of syrah when I got there and it was absolutely everything I could ask for in a syrah. If you haven't made it out to Jack creek i highly recommend it.

Honestly, you really haven't experienced wine, until you taste the red blends from Saxum. Like a fiend, I went straight for the waiting list only to find the wait is at least 4 years. I was patient, and unlike many, able to get an occasional bottle from my friend. They emailed me once a year to remind me to be patient, and mid 2025 I got my invite. I felt like I won the lottery. I was able to get a 23 G2 Vineyard and a 22 Rocket Block. I also have a 19 James Berry in reserve, but the problem is, I almost don't want to drink them. I feel like I would be consuming art. Ultimately, they are of course meant to be enjoyed and consumed. When you get a shipment, it comes with very thorough tasting notes and suggestions on drinking. I was able to buy two and select a wish list as well. Saxum is not exclusive for exclusive sake. It is exclusive because it is a small winery that can only produce so many barrels. You are limited in what you can purchase because they want to share their wines with as many people as possible. The wish list is only if they have enough left over. Saxum could seriously charge double or triple what they charge, but they don't. I think this says a lot about what they are as a winery and who they are as people. If you can get a hold of a bottle, you will look at wine differently. Four year waiting was worth it- all good things are.

Every vineyard wine has been an amazing surprise. We still love the James Berry vineyard best but Broken Stones and Hexe were incredible too. I have no doubt this vineyard is quickly becoming the Screaming Eagle and Opus One of Paso Robles. These wines consistently grade in the 98-100 range and you can taste why. It's been a real treat. I highly recommend it.

My wife walked up to someone outside Linne Calodo and asked if they could squeeze in two people for a tasting. They said yes. Best unplanned decision of the trip. Here is where it gets good. There is a guy standing outside and I casually ask if he happens to be with the winery. Turns out it was Matt, the owner and winemaker himself. What followed was essentially a private masterclass: he walked us through the entire winemaking process, took us into the main fermentation and storage room, did proper pours, and spent real time talking about Paso Robles and his philosophy behind his wines and the blends. No rush, no clipboard, no tour-group energy. And then he let us blend with him. Actually blend. Walking from barrel to barrel, making our own concoctions, like we knew what we were doing, which we did not, but Matt made it feel like we did. Easily the best hour we spent in Paso Robles. Possibly the best winery experience we have had in a very long time, and we have had a few. This place is the real deal, the kind of spot that reminds you why Paso Robles wine country is worth visiting beyond the Instagram backdrops. And why small family run wineries beat the big conglomerates when it comes to authentic wine making and tasting experiences. Thank you Matt. Go here. Make an appointment if you have to, or just show up and hope for the best. Both approaches apparently work. Though I would not recommend the latter
