My favorite Austin fried chicken spot! For me, the additional flavors and spice elevates T22 to the top spot past other known places in the area. There is something about the rich, moist, kind of sweet, spicy layer under the crispy skin that makes all of my worries go away while I'm biting into the chicken. I loved T22 pre-COVID. Granted, during the middle of quarantine I got a big takeout order with my friends. It was utterly disappointing. I almost lost faith, thinking "is this it? The end of the T22 reign in my heart?" Alas, all my friends decided they wouldn't eat T22 after that first try for them. I was sad that the chicken wasn't to par that time. I didn't go again until last month, it was busy as ever since restrictions were lifted. And the chicken was delicious. I was in love all over again. This located used to be a solid place for good food but within the past 6 months or so the customer service for take out has been less than lack luster. They don't season the chicken as requested and slop together their sandwiches. The fries are always cold and hard as though it's been sitting out for an extended period of time. I love how well decorated Tumble 22 is and the staff was super friendly and timely. I was surprised to see that they added an additional heat level, I've had their previous hottest chicken and it just wasn't enough. I ordered the Dang Hot Chicken Tenders with Fries. I love spicy food, so I didn't want to set any unrealistic expectations with their newest heat level haha. The chicken was pretty good! Compared to my friend's delicious and juicy chicken sandwich, my tenders were a little dry. The ranch on the side definitely helped though. The fries were too thin for my liking. Honestly, 2 tenders is enough food, each tender is about 5 ounces of chicken, so order 3 if you're okay with leftovers and be sure to reward them in the air fryer! Not sure what happened for this location to get negative reviews, but my experience was nice. I waited at the bar for my to-go order and the drinks were great. We got bone-in mild chicken with greens and Mac and cheese and everything was cooked right and tasted delicious. I really love the chocolate pie as well. I snagged a carryout order from this new Tumble 22 location in Round Rock, and it was a hit with my crew. The order was ready quickly, and all the staff here were friendly and efficient. The chicken was absolutely great with portions way bigger than I expected. These tenders are chicken-breast sized. Be warned, that the spice level is no joke. The chicken here at Tumble 22 is spectacular. They specialize in Nashville style hot chicken, and boy, does it get hot. My wife first introduced me to Tumble 22 after bringing home an OG Chicken Sandwich. It was easily one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had. Way better than your average Chick Fil A or Popeye's chicken sandwich. The juiciness, spice, crispiness, flavor, and just overall quality are miles ahead. We went to go visit a few days after and ordered the bone in chicken family pack with coleslaw, deviled eggs, dirty Mac n Cheese, and fries. Everything was outstanding, but be warned that the heat level gets intense. We got our chicken at the Dang Hot level which is number 4 out of 6 in terms of heat, and it was very, very spicy. My mouth was on fire by the 2nd piece of chicken. I would definitely have been happier with the Mo'Hot level. But nonetheless, it was still delicious. Definitely give Tumble 22 a visit. Went in to try the monthly sandwich, which was delicious (though definitely needed a squish to eat if you don't wanna unhinge your jaw lol). We sat outside and it was quite clean and the breeze was nice, only annoying thing was a car parked just outside for 15 minutes with the lights running straight into the outdoor patio but meh, that's what we get for sittin' outside. Aside from that, our server Jaelyn absolutely killed it! Super attentive, she checked on us just enough without hovering and she was awesome and very personable. We enjoyed the beans the most out of the entire meal. My biggest letdown was the chicken. Trying a new place, we didn't want to end up with atomic level of spice, so we picked the "hot" and knew it might be exactly where we end up in the future. However, the "hot" was anything but. If the receipt didn't say hot, I really would have thought we got the totally not hot. I struggled to find anything beyond standard Southern fried chicken flavor. I would like to try a hotter level, but I'm afraid I'll find out that we were given the wrong spice level this time. First of all Thank you to Samatha for making our almost bad experience a better one ! So me and my family walk into the restaurant and we stand next to the, "Please Wait to be Seated" sign. After being passed over 5x by servers and hostess, someone finally acknowledges us. Some server named Val says, "Are you guys looking for a table or something?" I mean of course we're looking for a table, It doesn't fulfill my appetite going to restaurants and watching other people eat. On top of that she said it with a really bad attitude and body language. I asked, "Well are we supposed to seat ourselves?, the sign says please wait to be seated." Val responds, " Oh, I don't know." shrugs her shoulders and walks us to a table. Maybe she should try applying to Dicks last resort... Once we were seated right behind the hostess stand, I did notice and elderly (white) couple walked in after us and she treated them completely different. The pickle fries might be a newer item that I don't think was on the menu previously. I really liked it. Saw the thanksgiving chicken sandwich on instagram and had to go try it. Walked in and waited about 10 minutes to be sat. There was no host. When you walk in to the left you see the bar and behind the bar is the kitchen where your food is made, and the people who are making your food. Our server was super sweet and knowledgeable. He was concerned it was raw so I looked down at my sandwich. A BIG DISGUSTING HAIR FRIED INTO MY SANDWICH. If you look in the kitchen NO ONE was wearing a hairnet. At this point we were so sad. We decided to tell our waitress and she was so nice about everything. Asked if we wanted a remake of our food but we declined. Our son was even grossed out and didn't finish his kids nuggets.
