I've ordered from Trendy Thai multiple times over the past 3 years. Their cashew chicken is amazing. All their dishes are well made and priced very low. The service was very fast and friendly.

Rarely say this, Hidden gem. I genuinely come to this place for the cleanliness and delicious food. Service is always attentive and top notch attitude. Restaurant is always real clean and taken care of. Tried different vegetarian dishes when I come and always rotate for what craving I have. All real good with clean ingredients, never too oily. Vegetables are always cooked exactly how they should be. Thank you Trendy Thai!

Trendy Thai is delicious! Always fresh. Great customer service. Very clean restaurant. They are always wearing masks and keeping the restaurant clean. Great selection of vegetarian dishes. However, you can make anything veg by asking for veggie or tofu instead of a meat option. This is what I do often. This is an overdue review so I've posted several photos of yummy dishes. My kids' favorites: cashew chicken and pad see ew beef+shrimp. My favorites: spicy salad (I get it with tofu but it's good with any choice), wonton soup, spicy eggplant, and ESPECIALLY kee mao chow mein (veggie or tofu but delicious with shrimp or anything you choose!). That's if you like spicy

Trendy Thai hit the spot on a Friday afternoon. I was in the area and Yelp to the rescue. Everything we ordered for lunch was amazing. It was so good that I forgot to take photos before diving in. John, the owner, was so helpful and gave great recommendations. We had egg rolls with plum sauce and calamari to start. That plum sauce was heavenly. I ordered a few things to try since it was my first time. With the help of John, I had their spicy eggplant with tofu, yellow curry with tofu, and shrimp pad see you. Oh my goodness. Everything was outstanding but the spicy eggplant with tofu was extraordinary. It was hands down my fave! Would I order it again? Absolutely! I'll definitely be back to try more things off their menu, but I'm a creature of habit and will probably order the same thing again. Thank you Trendy Thai for a memorable experience!

Finally jumping on the Yelp bandwagon. Been coming here since Sam the previous owner and continued to do so when the new owner took over several years back. I met the new owner and most of the family. The restaurant had a major work done. Carpet floor replaced by tiles, walls painted with earth tone colors, countertop cashier area redone. Now moving on to the good stuff-food. This place is as authentic Thai as you can get and I have had my fair share of Thai Dishes throughout the world including several trips to Thailand herself. By far one of the best tasting, flavorful dishes in the area. I have had EVERYTHING on the menu from Tom Yum, Trendy Fried Rice, Curries to Pad Kee Mao just to name a few. Makes my mouth watery just thinking of their menu and wait...there is more. Since it is cooked to order, you can customize it. I've always ordered Pad Kee Mao and Spicy Chicken with extra basil and they always accommodated my request. Talk about service right. I have had my fair share of international dishes and for Thai food, I would always compare other places to Trendy Thai. That should say something about this restaurant. I always ended up leaving this restaurant completely satisfied. Overall, good attentive services, clean facility and authentic made to order dishes. Highly recommended as I have done to friends and family when they are in the neighborhood. Also for those that give out 1 star when dining out (probably don't even tip)...they should just stay home and cook for themselves... and that is my OPINION.

Server was missing in action through our meal. I wish she was doing her homework while I was eating so I had someone to ask for service.

Under new ownership? That's the rumor and possibly right. We were the only ones in the restaurant at 6pm on a Monday night, so they definitely don't have a dinner rush. Food was good, but the dip in rating was for the service. Considering we were the only ones there, it would not have been hard to keep me happy. Ask me once if I'm ok and check my water glass, other than that I'm really low maintenance. Did not check on us until we were almost done with our food and was also missing in action most of the time. I was looking for one thing, the green Chile's that I'm used to seeing along with the other spices at the table, but by the time she checked on us, we were done with our food. I assumed the new ownership did away with the green Chile's, but when I asked she said they were put away. At 6pm? Didn't even offer us option of asking if we needed anything while we were eating? As you will see from the pictures, the server uses the time for homework, which is none of my business, but even if she was sitting at her computer that would have been better than her not being available at all. At least if she was working on her laptop, She would have been close enough to ask for service. At one point, I was going to yell out loud to the kitchen for service and the green Chile's. This used to be a favorite go to for Thai, but if service is going to suck this bad, there are other places to try that are also nearby.

Summary: 5 stars for taste, portion, price, and service…read more *** My fiance and I visited a few times for lunch and dinner. The restaurant is brightly lit inside and usually plays classy/cozy music overhead. Service is outstanding; they are typically prompt, proactive, and friendly with water refills on point. The owner occasionally checks in on tables, banters with regulars, and talks about his recipes. They sometimes provide complimentary desserts to first-time visitors (I assume if budget allows). Food also comes out quickly. DRINKS ORDERED - Thai Iced Tea ($4.50). Served in a huge glass, the Thai tea is strong, sweet, and creamy. APPETIZERS ORDERED - Sunshine Beef Jerky ($16.95). Sooo tasty! The beef was slightly crispy and dried out, yet soft inside. The marinade was aromatic with a hint of sourness. - Chicken Satay ($15.95 - 6 pcs). Soft and juicy white meat chicken with a mild marinade that was vaguely sweet and fragrant. The peanut dipping sauce was out of this world - very peanut forward and also a little sweet. I put it on everything and even asked for a to go container for the rest! I would have liked the pickled cucumber and onion to be less sweet. - Somtom / Green Papaya Salad ($11.96 + $5 shrimp add on). We asked for spicy level 2, which made my nose run. Green papaya, green beans, carrots, peanuts, and tomato sit on top of roughly chopped iceberg lettuce. The chili lime dressing tasted spicy, sweet, salty, and sour. The shrimp was also good, juicy and plump. I only had difficulty eating the green beans, which were hard and raw. - Chicken Larb ($16.95). This dish was served as a salad instead of a wrap. It had big pieces of ground chicken on top of iceberg lettuce in a flavorful, slightly funky sauce. We got this at level 2 spicy. ENTREES/NOODLES ORDERED - Basil Eggplant with chicken thigh ($14.95). Bright purple egg plant and bell peppers stir fried with fragrant basil in a savory sauce. So good! - Pad Kee Mao / Drunken Noodles with pork ($14.95). This was a stir fry of thick rice noodle, onion, bell pepper, basil, and protein of choice. The pork was yummy with a slightly sweet taste. I liked how the vegetables were tender yet crunchy. I ordered this at level 2 spicy, but I think I could handle level 3 for noodles. - Pad Thai with tofu ($14.95). I enjoyed the chewy, thin rice noodle tossed in a sweet and sour sauce. DESSERTS ORDERED - T-Cup Coconut Cream Cake ($6.99). We received this cake in a cup as a complimentary dessert. It tasted like a dream! There were two layers each of white cake and coconut whipped cream. The sponge had a light and cottony crumb. Shredded coconut added an extra layer of texture and coconut flavor. - Mango Sticky Rice ($13.95 - seasonal Apr to Sept). I think we ordered too early in the season, since the mango was ripe but not as fragrant. The sticky rice was sweet and salty with a fluffy and chewy texture. The dish was good, but a little dry for me since it didn't come with a sauce. - T-Cup Mango Pudding ($6.99). This was also complimentary. I thought it was just okay at first, but the pudding grew on me the more I ate it. The mango pudding tasted nostalgic, like the one you get at dim sum but more real. According to the owner, the pudding is vegan, naturally sweetened, and thickened with agar agar.

The food is just as good as I remembered, and the service was friendly (same person I remember from about 5 years ago, which was honestly nice to see.) It's a small shop with only about 4-5 tables, and there were tons of to-go and pickup orders while I was there, but I decided to dine in. What I ordered: Khao Soi - I saw this being advertised and had never tried it before, so I went for it. Super unique dish with a strong, creamy coconut flavor that wasn't overpowering at all. The noodles were great, and overall it was really comforting and delicious. Would 100% order again. (5/5) Pad See Ew (Shrimp) - A classic done well. Solid flavors, nothing too heavy, and very tasty overall. The shrimp were plump and fresh, which I appreciated. (4.5/5) I also asked about mango sticky rice, and they were honest and told me the mangos weren't fully ripe yet. I really appreciated that honesty. Instead, they gave me their complimentary cookies and cream ice cream, which ended up being really good too. There isn't much good Asian food in Azusa, so if you're living nearby, I'd definitely recommend this spot, it's one of the few reliable gems in the area. Parking: Small shared lot with neighboring businesses.

This restaurant has a cozy, welcoming, and friendly ambiance. It's not too fancy, but it's pleasant enough for lunch or dinner. The dining area is moderately sized, not huge or upscale, but comfortable for most groups. I decided to try the Kung Pao chicken, the Chow Mein with vegetables, the Crispy Bomb, and the Hot & Spicy Fried Rice. Let's start with the Kung Pao chicken. Kung Pao chicken is generally a stir-fried dish made with chicken, zucchini, onion, bell peppers, peanuts, and sometimes spicy dried peppers. This restaurant has its own twist on the dish and uses a spicy roasted chili garlic soy base rather than the sweeter, more Americanized Chinese versions. The chicken was tender and very flavorful. Let's talk about the Chow Mein next. This restaurant allows you to order this dish with your choice of protein or just vegetables. I chose to order it with just vegetables. The noodles were perfectly cooked, but I found the dish a bit too salty for my taste. Next up is the Crispy Bomb. The Crispy Bomb is a mixed appetizer sampler that includes two egg rolls, two shrimp tempura, two cream cheese wontons, and three fried potstickers. This appetizer offers a generous and satisfying mix if you want a variety of crispy bites. It was the perfect way to start my meal. Last but not least, the Hot & Spicy Fried Rice. This was by far the star of the show. The rice is cooked with egg, chili, onion, bell peppers, and basil leaves for extra heat and Thai flair. I chose to add chicken to this dish. You are also allowed to choose a spice level, and I selected the second-highest level. This dish was savory with a noticeable heat from the chilies, aromatic from the basil leaves, and balanced with tender stir-fried rice and vegetables. I have been craving this dish again ever since I tried it. Now, let's talk about the service. This is where my final score takes a slight hit. My server seemed a bit moody at first, but she mellowed out toward the end. One major issue was that she was not attentive. Most of the times she checked in were when I was about to finish my meal. I also never got my drink refilled because of this. The restaurant wasn't busy at all, so I was surprised by the lack of attentiveness. Overall, this restaurant is a solid choice for authentic, tasty Thai food. I would like to give it another try in the near future, and I hope the service improves by then.
