House 1. Stars Special Noodle - delicious
Ronny T.

Indo boy here. This place is legit Indonesian. I was impressed by the extensive menu with all the Indo food greatest hits from gado gado to satay with lontong to siomay Bandung. I had the house special noodle which I found out later is the same as bakmi yanti of local favorites lore. Noodles were very good. Service was friendly. The place is super clean and modern. You know this place is authentic because lots of opas and omas come here right after church service on Sundays.

Quaint hole in the wall jewel for a nice plain sit down meal. Food was tasty simple presentation. Order food from a billboard menu at a counter. A super service person will place your order at the table. Prices are reasonable for today's rates. The preparations are Indonesian and my favorites are the fried noodles and bbq skewers.

Tucked away in the plaza next to Sprouts, this small shop is a little market and restaurant combined into one. You order up front and wait for them to bring the food to your table. The prices are not bad compared to places like Borneo Kalimantan. Might've caught them on a busy day, but our order took around 45 minutes to come out even though we came around 1:30pm on a Wednesday! Jakarta Fried Noodle (Mie Tek Tek): 4/5. The flavors were very solid and authentic! Took off 1 point because after eating this and the fried rice, we all got very thirsty, meaning a lot of msg was used :( Indonesian Fried Rice: 2/5. Unfortunately just wayyyyy too much garlic and kind of oily :( I don't recommend this dish because all you'll be tasting is garlic and fried onion chips. Not sure if we were thirsty from the fried noodle or fried rice, but maybe both had a lot of msg used. I would come back to try their noodle soups and maybe reorder the Jakarta Fried Noodle! It seems like every table ordered at least 1 noodle soup/dish, so maybe that's what they're more specialized in instead of rice.

Great taste, decent price, clean restaurant. Friendly customer service. The old location was the Mi Yanti noodle in West Covina. I visited with my family from Indonesia and German, and we tried various of their noodles. Oh my, everything was so good and it tasted so much better than the prior location. Spicy noodle was perfectly balanced, Kuetiau sirem really mimic the one in Indonesian street. The spicy mi yamin was my daughter favorite, and the fried wonton still the bomb! They have a small grocery that was neatly arranged and clean.

Saw a video of this place on IG so my bf and I decided to give it a try and we both love noodles. I drive by this plaza all the time but never realize this hidden gem. We ordered the two most popular items: both egg noddles which we both love Star Special Noodles: 4/5 this was a dry noodle that comes with soup. Flavor was right and wasn't too sweet or salty. Fried Noodles (Mie Goreng: 5/5 Stir fried noodles that was pack with loads of flavors and was my favorite. I would def come back again when I'm craving noodles. Lots of parking since this was in a shopping plaza. Staff is friendly.

Finally got to try this place! I've had my eyes on it for a while and tried coming a few times, but it was always closed whenever I stopped by. So I was extra excited to finally get in, maybe a little too excited because I ordered way too much for one person (hello leftovers!). The fried tofu was amazing and it has a little piece of fish cake inside each bite, which made it extra flavorful. I also got the #1 special noodle, which came with chicken, chashu pork, mushrooms, and beef balls. The noodles had a really nice flavor, and the soup on the side was comforting and tasty. I also grabbed one of the green drinks from the fridge near the register, and wow! new favorite drink unlocked! The service was super friendly. Since it was my first time, the staff helped me pick what to order, and I ended up loving everything. Can't wait to come back and try more from the menu!

32. Jumbo Fried Wontons

My first Indonesian noodle experience and it did not disappoint. I had the mei gorreng(spell) fried noodles with chicken and broccolini and other stuff and it was very flavorful. Portion was huge! I added from their sauce bar some fish sauce. Sweet soy, and vinegar and that brought the dish to a new level of: Damn!!! I will definitely be back to try their other noodle dishes and noodle soups when is cooler out. Also the homage wontons were unique and tasty. That sauce they came with m: chefs kiss...

This Bumbu Gado-Gado is pretty good!

Lately I've been craving siomay, so I thought of Noodle Stars. This place closes at 7 pm and is closed every Monday Tuesday, making it very inconvenient for me to come here. While running errands in Duarte and Monrovia, I rushed to Noodle Stars to get there by 6pm. Knowing exactly what I wanted, I ordered Siomay Bandung to go. The steamed siomay comes in 6 pieces of fish cake varieties. The plate consists of fish cake stuffed tofu, stuffed boiled potato, stuffed half hard boiled egg, stuffed cabbage, and 2 fish cake siomay. I was a little disappointed that I didn't get the stuffed bitter melon, but I quickly got over it when I tasted the food. After warming them up a bit, I poured the peanut sauce and kecap manis (sweet soy sauce) generously over the siomay. The peanut sauce is on point with its texture and consistency, and it's perfectly seasoned with the right amount of sweetness. You can take it to the next level by adding the little thing of chili sauce!! This Siomay Bandung was so delicious and satisfied my craving. To a big guy like me, this dish alone wasn't very filling. It was just like an appetizer. In the front end of the restaurant, there's a small section of Indonesian products, such as sauces, sambal, and snacks. This practice is pretty common with Indonesian eateries, as we love our snacks!! A clever way to generate extra income to your business! The interior decor itself feels a bit cold and industrial, which is why I don't really want to eat-in. I mean silver chairs aren't very inviting. I am happy to eat my food at home.

I stumbled across this place while craving Indonesian food, and I'm so glad I did. My boyfriend and I stopped by on a Wednesday afternoon. The lady at the front gave us the warmest welcome, she was incredibly sweet and took the time to recommend some popular dishes. When we mentioned it was our first time, she even let us try a few Indonesian drinks, which was such a thoughtful touch. We ordered the star special noodle, mie goreng, and fried tofu. And wow. This was hands down some of the best Indonesian food I've ever had. I've been to places like Borneo Eatery and Ipoh Kopitiam, which are both great, but this food tasted especially homemade and clean in the best way. The noodles are house made and you can taste the clean wok flavor. Every dish was absolutely delicious, and I was honestly disappointed I couldn't try more because everything was just that good. I can't believe I didn't discover this place sooner. We'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu. Huge thank you to the sweet lady who took such good care of us and introduced us to some truly delicious food. Thank you!!! The place was quaint, cozy, and comfortable.

What's this? Its crunchy and delicious. You have to try it.

Have been coming for years. Place is neat and clean. I usually come here on weekdays, ita crowded. But today, Wednesday, and they just open, perfect for a peaceful delicious lunch. Food is still very yummy and delicious. Got my yamien noodle and regular noodles, sate with lontong, and many other things. I will eat the food here everyday if its closer to me.

Ask the Community - Noodle Stars

Hi! I was wondering which meats are halal at Noodle Stars, especially since I see pork items on the menu?

We have a special menu: chicken mushroom noodle (halal meat) that is cooked special and separately from the regular chicken mushroom noodle. I hope this answers your question.

What's halal ? Is it the broth ?!?

Hi, The halal meat are cut and prep differently. For a meat to be certified "halal," it cannot be a forbidden cut (such as meat from hindquarters) or animal (such as pork.)… Read more

You walk in thinking, "I'll just grab a quick bowl," and suddenly there's a noodle master stretching dough like he's training for the Olympics. Their Lanzhou-style noodles? Fresh, chewy, and honestly a little too good--they'll ruin instant ramen for you forever. The Lan noodle soup is so rich and savory. The died mixed noodle feels like a warm hug... if hugs came with chili oil and a kick that sneaks up on you. It's a small, busy spot, so yeah, you might wait--but don't worry, the line moves fast. Plus, it gives you time to emotionally prepare for choosing your noodle shape. Thin? Wide? Triangle? This is not a decision to take lightly. They have a small and large sweet and sour chicken rice plate. I had gotten the small size just to try it out, but it was surprisingly good (5/5). The pork sandwich bun was decent (4/5) since the beef was tasty but the sandwich bun could be better. We also had the traditional beef noodle soups with either the wide flat and triangle ones. You can't go wrong with these freshly made pulled noodles, and they are very hearty portions. Flavor is good and the beef is very tender. The smashed cucumbers were decent also (4/5), but nothing spectacular about them. Service is very quick, attentive and pleasant. This is a good go to spot for a quick meal. The dining room doesn't seat a lot of people so try not to come during busy dining hours on weekends to avoid a long wait.

For him he thinks that was a good enough portion because it tasted a bit too creamy for him. For me it wasn't enough! It was soooo deliciousssss. Dry noodles here for the win! Worth the $18! Service was okay, we didn't needed too much this time around but they have enough people that you can wave down. And they have the whole water for yourself to refill. Would definitely come back. Already craving for another as I am writing this review.

Was scrolling through Yelp for a place to try in Arcadia and this one caught our eyes…read more I've had Mazesoba before in ramen spots, but never at a Mazesoba-specific spot. Worried about dry noodles? Don't fret, as they truly pile on the sauce that is both tasty and addictive! Service was satisfactory. There wasn't much to do as we order our own food, but they give you your cutlery and a jug of water at the start so there wasn't a need to ask for anything anyway. The setup was okay. It felt a little cramped and waiting for the toilet while staring at a dirty trash bin wasn't the best start to the meal, but given the space it's understandable. I got the Deluxe Nagoya Mazesoba and my wife got the Original Mazesoba. The original is great but I specifically wanted the seaweed and soft-boiled egg. After a fun mix, I took my first bite and did not stop stuffing myself until the last noodle strand was gone. Seriously, I don't know what they add to it that makes it so addicting but I could not stop eating it. I'm a fast eater usually but even my wife was surprised with my remaining half after her first 2 bites. The sauce would usually be too heavy, but the accompaniments allows the dish to balance itself. It was also not too dry, which is a common worry I have for mixed noodles. At the end of the meal they offer a complimentary rice to mix in with the sauce, though personally I would have preferred a broth as I didn't need the extra carb, but a light broth would have been a great finish. I can see this being a craving, so beware, try it at your own risk... but also run there now!

XiAn Foodie 李老三 serves food that is not only delicious, but authentic and full of soul. The handmade noodles were impressive. perfectly chewy and springy, soaking up the rich sauce. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying! The lamb skewers, beef skewers, beef shank noodles, lamb & carrot dumplings, and oil-splashed noodles are all highly recommended. Everything was tender, aromatic, and clearly prepared with great care and attention to flavor and ingredients. Spice lovers will definitely be happy here, but even if you normally don't eat spicy food, you'll still find yourself going back for bite after bite. The restaurant itself is simple yet elegant, clean, and comfortable, with the warm feeling of a beloved local spot. The service is friendly, and the food comes out quickly, creating a relaxed and welcoming dining experience. Especially after a long day, having a hot bowl of their oil-splashed noodles feels genuinely comforting. If you enjoy unique Xi'an cuisine, I highly recommend giving this place a try. You can taste that the flavors have not been overly adjusted just to appeal to the masses. Instead, the restaurant preserves the authentic spirit, warmth, and bold flavors of traditional Xi'an cooking.

Overall, most of the dishes were solid. The only one I could have skipped was the chicken and potato dish...it just didn't stand out compared to everything else. I think this was the dish that we took leftovers since everyone else also felt a similar way regarding that dish. The skewers were well-cooked, but the cumin flavor was a bit overpowering for my taste, and it lingered longer than I would've liked. With that said, there were definitely some highlights. I really loved the shrimp fried rice and the beef dumplings, but my favorite was the wide noodle dish with mixed meats. It was incredibly flavorful and hit all the right notes. I actually ordered it after noticing another table enjoying the same dish. Honestly, their reactions said everything and it absolutely lived up to the expectation. The owner was warm and welcoming, which added to the overall experience. The restaurant itself is very clean, with bright lighting and a modern aesthetic that makes it feel inviting. Parking is also convenient, with plenty of space available in the back garage. All in all, it's a spot I'd recommend for anyone looking to try authentic flavors from the Xi'an region.
