Wow, hands down, it was some of the best wonton soup I've had in a very long time. The broth was extra hot, rich, and delicious, yet the vegetables still stayed perfectly crisp. Authentic food, definitely one of the best I've had. I tried their 'Pineapple Fried Rice', which consists of chicken, shrimp, roasted chili, curry powder, and cashew nuts, accompanied with an Iced 'Thai Tea'. Simply delicious with fresh ingredients. Hadn't been in a while, ordered two of their popular dishes to go. I called it in, and was ready by the the time I arrived. The chicken fried rice was a good portion but not too much chicken. The beef pad see ew noddles tasted fresh and had plenty of veggies. The red hot sauce had a major taste of vinegar, wish it didn't because I wasn't able to use it to give it a kick to the dishes. I had to organize a last minute holiday party for my company and I found Trendy Thai on Yelp! I called in in about three days in advance to place a large order for 50 people and Trendy was able to accommodate on short notice. I was very appreciative, especially since this was around the holidays. They were about to delivery to my workplace which was about 17 miles away from their location. I placed an order for about 12 large trays of food (I think 1 large tray can feed up to 5 - 6 people) and was even given suggestion based on dietary restrictions. The portions were generous and food was superb! Flavorful and still fresh by the time it arrived. Catering came with serving utensils, plates, plastic cutlery and an assortment of condiments: chili, soy sauce, sweet & sour sauce, etc. I didn't have to worry at all. I was busy facilitating the event at work but they were so quick to set up everything with little instructions. I just pointed to a table and everything was set up in five minutes. They labeled the trays for visibility as well. If you want a seamless catering experience for a special occasion, corporate party, or just for convenience, I would highly recommend Trendy. They made the experience so easy and their customer service was excellent. I'll definitely be placing more orders here! read more

Trendy Thai is delicious! Always fresh. Great customer service. Very clean restaurant. They are always wearing masks and keeping the restaurant clean. Great selection of vegetarian dishes. However, you can make anything veg by asking for veggie or tofu instead of a meat option. This is what I do often. This is an overdue review so I've posted several photos of yummy dishes. My kids' favorites: cashew chicken and pad see ew beef+shrimp. Seriously, my only complaint about Trendy Thai: WHY U NO OPEN FOR DINNER? Thus and thus, this is an outstanding place to enjoy a delicious and affordable Thai lunch (or late breakfast, if you're into that sort of thing :). The menu is diverse-- you'll find your favorites on here like Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, various curries. But there are also a couple of unique dishes here like the Salmon curry, and a fresh take on Tom Kha Gai (their "Tom Khar" soup.). Additionally, a whole section of the menu features vegetarian dishes that are fresh, tasty, and surprisingly large considering the menu prices. If you've read any of El Gigante Picante's other reviews, you might remember I'm a bit of a spice junkie; Trendy did not disappoint in this regard, either. I asked for "native spice" level, and they got my nose running in just the right way. Bring on the endorphins for lunch, baby. Honestly, look past the simple exterior of this place in a strip mall that seems, in turn, out of place in a rather industrial part of town. Trendy Thai hit the spot on a Friday afternoon. I was in the area and Yelp to the rescue. Everything we ordered for lunch was amazing. It was so good that I forgot to take photos before diving in. John, the owner, was so helpful and gave great recommendations. We had egg rolls with plum sauce and calamari to start. That plum sauce was heavenly. I ordered a few things to try since it was my first time. With the help of John, I had their spicy eggplant with tofu, yellow curry with tofu, and shrimp pad see you. Oh my goodness. Everything was outstanding but the spicy eggplant with tofu was extraordinary. It was hands down my fave! Would I order it again? Absolutely! Finally jumping on the Yelp bandwagon. Been coming here since Sam the previous owner and continued to do so when the new owner took over several years back. I met the new owner and most of the family. The restaurant had a major work done. Carpet floor replaced by tiles, walls painted with earth tone colors, countertop cashier area redone. Now moving on to the good stuff-food. This place is as authentic Thai as you can get and I have had my fair share of Thai Dishes throughout the world including several trips to Thailand herself. By far one of the best tasting, flavorful dishes in the area. I have had EVERYTHING on the menu from Tom Yum, Trendy Fried Rice, Curries to Pad Kee Mao just to name a few. Makes my mouth watery just thinking of their menu and wait...there is more. Since it is cooked to order, you can customize it. I've always ordered Pad Kee Mao and Spicy Chicken with extra basil and they always accommodated my request. Talk about service right. I have had my fair share of international dishes and for Thai food, I would always compare other places to Trendy Thai. That should say something about this restaurant. I always ended up leaving this restaurant completely satisfied. Overall, good attentive services, clean facility and authentic made to order dishes. Highly recommended as I have done to friends and family when they are in the neighborhood. Under new ownership? That's the rumor and possibly right. We were the only ones in the restaurant at 6pm on a Monday night, so they definitely don't have a dinner rush. Food was good, but the dip in rating was for the service. Considering we were the only ones there, it would not have been hard to keep me happy. Ask me once if I'm ok and check my water glass, other than that I'm really low maintenance. Did not check on us until we were almost done with our food and was also missing in action most of the time. I was looking for one thing, the green Chile's that I'm used to seeing along with the other spices at the table, but by the time she checked on us, we were done with our food. I assumed the new ownership did away with the green Chile's, but when I asked she said they were put away. At 6pm? Didn't even offer us option of asking if we needed anything while we were eating? As you will see from the pictures, the server uses the time for homework, which is none of my business, but even if she was sitting at her computer that would have been better than her not being available at all. At least if she was working on her laptop, She would have been close enough to ask for service. At one point, I was going to yell out loud to the kitchen for service and the green Chile's. This used to be a favorite go to for Thai, but if service is going to suck this bad, there are other places to try that are also nearby. read more

Hands down the best Thai food in town. Ugh, everything on the menu is seriously so bomb. From the curries, noodles, spicy chicken, all AMAZING. I'm here at least once a week, if not twice lol. I order the spicy chicken on days I don't feel like eating my boring meal prep. Food tastes clean & fresh unlike other Thai places nearby. Customer service is great. One of my favorite types of food is actually Thai because of the various spices and scents that make the food super flavory. Therefore, I came upon this restaurant for lunch with my coworkers. I was expecting some kind of lunch special with soup and salad but it was just entrees on their regular menu. My coworker and I order the spicy basil chick, cashew chicken, chicken curry and the fried rice special. When the meal came out the presentation didn't look like Thai food. Our plates was was doused with red spicy sauce and very wet. The chicken fried rice was plain but it had beef on top for garnish. This review is so shocking to me to even write but I just had to... Me and my family have been loyal to this place for 10+ years. My uncle even became close to a cook from years ago and he came over to our house to cook us thai food. This is how much we loved this place. They got new owners about two or three years ago and although they remodeled really nice.. the quality of their food dropped so bad... I no longer think about coming here when I crave thai food. Wow!!! What a change. I live in the area and have been coming here for years. This place got a face lift. The once spotted carpet is now replaced by brown wooden decor tiles. The walls are nice & clean and I look forward to seeing the fresh flowers on the tables every time I eat there. Everything about this place have gotten better. Services and food are always made fresh to order. The cook Mai is very accommadatimg. Once in a while she'll come out and ask if everything was ok and I appreciate that. My favorite dishes are: spicy chicken, pad see ew, shrimp fries rice..etc but my go to plate is drunken noodles or pad lee maow. Trendy Thai is located in a small plaza near the corner of Irwindale Ave and Arroyo Hwy. It's a small little restaurant with about 10 or so tables inside. Don't get me wrong, I believe the food here was pretty good. I had the Chicken Pad Thai and I loved it. I've came here about three times and my experience here was always subpar. The food here is not the reason i'm giving them two stars, but its the service. I normally come here around lunch time between the hours of 12-2PM and its usually fairly empty. However every time we came here, it would take roughly 20-30 minutes before we get our food. Service was always excruciatingly slow and it's definitely a huge deal when you have limited time for lunch. After waiting about 30 minutes (4 out of 5 of us had already gotten our food) the server comes out and asks my coworker if it's okay to replace white rice with brown rice for her dish because they ran out of white rice. Let's just say, it took another 15-20 minutes after everyone else was done eating before she got her dish. The server and kitchen definitely should and could have informed her earlier if they are low on white rice. Another occasion, me and the co workers were craving some thai food for lunch. We decided to call our order in about 30 minutes before hand, because we didn't want a repeat of what happened last time. The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived, and we had to wait an additional 20 minutes before we got our food. Please bare in mind that this was only for a chicken pad thai and cashew chicken. Overall I thought the quality for the food was decent, however the kitchen definitely needs some work. It feels like if there's only one slow chef cooking and prepping for the entire restaurant. That might be acceptable if the chef can keep up the pace, however the chef here just can't. If you have the luxury of time to bare through the slow kitchen, then give this place a shot. Otherwise, I would steer clear from trendy thai if you're limited on time. read more

I can't believe how busy this place is! It was 11:30 and it the place was filling up fast. So fast, that a few people who ordered before us had left because they were on a time constraint. Well, so were we. Ken, Sylvia, and I made it here just a tad before the crowd and it does take a bit of time for them to acknowledge you because there are only two ladies taking orders. Most of the dishes like the ones we ordered were $7.50 each. I had the spicy chicken , Ken had the pad see you (yes, that is how they spell it here on their menu) and Sylvia had the pad thai. My plate of food came about 15 minutes later, it wasn't piping hot nor was it tasty, it was just ok. It seems like they use frozen breast chicken pieces here because it was a tad dry and unflavorful. It had a little heat but nothing that will compare you to the authentic Thai food places. My buddy Kenneth wanted me to take a bit of his pad see you (yes, we're tight like that) and made sure I put my judgement on this review. It was better than my chicken dish, had a lot more flavor than mine food but it was nothing out of the ordinary. The only plus here was we ate and made it back to his work across the street all within an hour. Either they need to rent out the empty space next door or I'll have to open up my own shop so I can help alleviate the hungry crowds. read more

My girlfriend and her friends all eat here for lunch, she kept wanting to take me here and we finally got around to it. We ordered fried wontons for an appetizer, and with the hot sauce they had on the table they were very good. My girlfriend and her friend both ordered beef salad which they seemed to like, and we all split the trendy thai fried rice. The rice was very good and flavorful. As for my dish, i ordered the spicy chicken dish. When it came out it looked very good, pieces of chicken and peppers, onions and jalapenos sitting in a spicy red sauce. The sauce smelled and tasted delicious, not super spicy, but spicy with excellent thai flavor. Combined with the rice i will be reluctant to try anything else the next time i dine there. The flavor of the the basil combined with riped tomatoes and fresh onions are amazingly flavorful. Wanna call my #1 noodle dish at trendy rest. Secondly, will be Tom yum soup or Potak. The menu is rather light as the restaurant is catered to non-Asian (and definitely non-Thai people, as commented by my Thai student); however, the quaint interior decor much made up for that. I'd definitely recommend that you check this nook on Arrowhead Hwy, if you're ever in the area. Just remember that it is in the corner plaza on Arrowhead Hey and Irwindale. I called in a pick up for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the place got a face lift! A major one too. It looks like they repainted and pulled the carpet. It looks way better than before. I didn't even know they went through renovations. It must have be done overnight or something. I eat here pretty often since it's close enough to home and one of the better Thai restaurants around here. I recommend getting the spicy chicken!! You won't be disappointed. Good food. Randomly stopped by on a Saturday night with my family and was pleasantly surprised. The pad Thai was really good, one of the best I've had and I've had a lot of pad Thai! We also got the pad kee mao and hot basil fried rice. Both were also delicious! I suggest asking for a fried egg on top of the fried rice. It is a small family owned business and the owner is really sweet and service is great. The food is really fresh and a hidden gem for Thai restaurants around the area.
