I spent much of the afternoon at Tracy Mazda on Monday test driving and buying a beautiful new Mazda CX-30 that my Bay Area broker found for me. This review echoes all the previous 5 stars of buying a new car from this dealership which truly was a pleasure and helps the dismal image many new car dealerships have these days. One difference for me was being fortunate to work with relatively new Business Manager Joshua Coon. Josh has the "patience of Job", as the old saying goes - he spent more than an hour going over basic things inside the vehicle and then going on a test drive with me. I am older and my last car was a VW Jetta Sport Wagon whose technology is "ancient" compared to the vehicles of today. I know I asked some things more than once and did not even use the correct terms all the time, but Joshua never flinched and always had a smile. Not to mention he is very intelligent and interesting to talk with! Many sales people are "here today and gone tomorrow" after you write that elusive check, but Josh offers continued support - after I got home I had some questions and sure enough I got clear thorough replies and that is important since I have so many things to learn about this car and its capabilities. I went to Tracy Mazda to try and purchase a newer car and was going to use my current Mazda CX3 as a trade in. The lady I dealt with was awesome but the people who looked at my car for the whole 2 minutes for the trade in, did not open anything on the Car, they did a visual of the outside and came back with 3 thousand for the trade in. to make things worse after they run my credit their attitude change to a very derogatory one. I left very humiliated from that experience. A few weeks later I went to another dealer in a different town and trade it my car in, they drove it and open everything in the car while I stood there and trade the car in fir $18,000. I ended up getting two (2) 2022 premium XLE RaV-4s, and one of them is a hybrid, I got the two vehicles even after they run my credit and didn't have to put any money down either. Moral of this story is don't judge people for what they look like, even people that might look like they don't have much can surprise you, I am sorry to say that the nice sale lady that help me, lost out on a very nice commission because of her upper management. The part person and the young lady who was the service adviser - both were welcoming. Bought a 2008 MX-5 Miata in 2009 from them and haven't looked back. Their internet price was 3000 less than blue book, and even that price I was able to get them to come down a little bit more. Sales experience was largely pretty good. Service has been excellent, albiet sometimes on the slow side. A few times they've promised it by a day by the time they close and have had to push it out. They have been accommodating to us in terms of paying over the phone and what not otherwise. Our model had the convertible top-drain design flaw affecting 2006-2008 models that flooded the trunk and underneath the seats. Repaired without issue and they went above and beyond by getting district manager approval to replace our entire carpet. Coupons for service show up regularly in the mail and even when you don't have a coupon they honor a 10% if you tell them you had it/forgot it/whatever. The old service manager Mark was excellent -- the new service manager Crystal is even better. Highly recommend the service department. read more

So much for honesty and quality. My check engine light came on after a recent 60,000 mile factory maintenance and upon returning to Tracy Mazda I was told I needed a new thermostat; $240 and a new EGR valve; $650. A second look by a local auto shop in Hilmar, CA determined that my check engine light wasn't coded for an EGR valve problem, only a thermostat problem. The estimate to replace the thermostat was less than half that of Tracy Mazda's. The transfer case on my Mazda Speed 6 went to shit only a few weeks after Mazda worked on my vehicle. A second opinion says they forgot to refill the transfer case with fluid. It seems like every time I have taken my car in for repairs it only gets worse a few weeks later. Will never give this place another dime of my money. read more

I Went in to look at a 2017 MX-5 RF Special Edition that was in the center of the showroom last week. Zack was helping me out. Gave him my info, he ran my credit, had a conditional approval, just needed my paystub, proof of address, and my trade. 4. Arrived at about 5:30PM Saturday, 9/7. 5. Used car guy looked at my trade, offered me exactly what the BLACK book value was. (As a side note, I'm sorry, but for those of you who expect Kelley Blue Book or NADA Guide on your trades, you have been fleeced by some really bad "internet information". Dealers do not, and HAVE NEVER gone by KBB. That's a really rough estimate consumer tool that's not updated often. If you want to know what an actual dealer will give you on your trade, you have to use BLACK BOOK, because they update their values WEEKLY, based on actual sales data. Don't get butthurt when your jacked-up ride with bald tires and zipties gets appraised as "TRADE-IN: ROUGH: -550/NO AT: -1200 HIGH MILEAGE." If you want KBB value for your car, sell it yourself and stop whining. Thanks.) 6. Negotiated a final number, quick test drive, shook on the deal. 7. Signed the paperwork while my new ride was being detailed. Took all of 15 minutes. 8. Was out the door, in my new car, before 8PM (barely 2 and a half hours after I got there.) No fuss, no muss, no BS. If you actually do your homework, know the stock number of the model you want, don't think your hoopty is worth an extra $G in "emotional value", most transactions should go like above. This is the 5th new car I buy or lease in about 10 years. I only had trouble the first time, when I didn't know what I was doing. Again, my salesman, Nick Tan, was straightforward, friendly, not slimy or skeezy, no tricks. Doesn't get much better than Tracy Mazda. We were in the market for commuter and went to go look at an advertised 2011 Nissan Sentra. Our Sales Consultant, Alfonso, was pretty much the complete opposite of what you would think a used car salesman would be. He certainly stood out from crowd as this was the 8th dealership we had visited that weekend. After the test drive we knew we wanted to buy the car, but now came what is usually the hard part: negotiations. Alfonso had a "what I can do for you" approach as opposed to a "what I can't do" attitude. His willingness to work with us showed us he didn't just want to make a quick deal and boot us out the door. He genuinely cared about making sure we were happy and that both sides felt the deal was fair. We felt it was and decided to move forward. Now, honestly, we were not the easiest people to deal with that day. It was hot, we were tired, hungry, and just wanted to get the car and go home. There were a few bumps in the road and the purchasing process did not go as smoothly as we had hoped. Our frustration clearly showed. Despite all my sighs, dirty looks, pointing, and all around jerk-ness (yeah, I was being a little bit of an asshole), Alfonzo and the staff at Tracy Mazda remained patient and professional. They even offered to drop the car off at my home since it turned out we weren't going to be able take it that day because I needed additional paperwork. Though frustrated we couldn't drive off the lot sameday, I thought this was a true testament to how they do business. And it didn't stop there. When we got the car there were some things that popped up that weren't apparent during the initial test drive. I emailed Alfonso the following day and though it was his day off he took my concerns seriously and arranged for my girl to take the car back since I was at work. She took the car down and the service department looked at it right away. She was treated respectfully and the service team took the time to address all the concerns we had; Tracy Mazda certainly stands behind the quality of the vehicles it sells. We got the car back that same day and it has been running great. We are extremely happy with the purchase. Because of the great experience there we will certainly return when we are once again in the market for a new ride. A+, guys, A+. read more

Tracy is rather far from a lot of things... like where I live. However, I was offered a price I couldn't refuse and as such I have now purchased my first ever car (new) from Tracy Mazda. They are the local Costco/AAA dealership... I got my Mazda3 for even less than the Costco price! No, I'm not saying how much I paid... but I never even had to negotiate a single thing. Without mentioning names, my salesman was a young guy and made my first car buying experience a breeze. He made me feel calm and comfortable at a time when I was a nervous wreck. The financing manager on the other hand, tried to push the extended warranty so much he even said that is how "he feeds his kids: the commission from selling warranties" I was in and out in about 2.5 hours. Not bad I'd say. Can't wait to get my first free oil change to say hi to the guys minus the finance dude. The dealership is a full fledged dealer and is in a pretty new building. It's nicer than the other Mazda dealerships I've been to. They also have a large selection of cars... always a good thing. read more

Let's roll with this review update thing. The issues with the warranty are still troubling. Telling someone they're getting a warranty through Mazda and then getting a warranty through some other company is frustrating, especially when the company has horrendous reviews. So I cancelled the extended bumper to bumper and just kept the Powertrain. Then, about 4 months later, my car's turbo died. Luckily that's part of the Powertrain. I was (unfortunately) visiting Merced at the time so I took it to the dealer. They told me that Mazda would probably cover it anyway since it's a common problem, then they told me that if they didn't my Powertrain warranty would cover it. So really they were not concerned. I got a call a few days later. Mazda told me that my car was some type of salvage, and I was told that my Powertrain warranty had been cancelled. Whaaaaaaaaat. I called Tracy Mazda. They took the car in. They said that Mazda had on record that my turbo died once before (whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat) so that the turbo is considered salvage or something weird (my car is not salvage), and that my powertrain was cancelled due to a misunderstanding, so no one was going to cover the costs of the repairs. But they also said they knew it was their responsibility, so they fixed everything for free. Thankfully, because it would have cost $3000. They also gave me access to a few sales guys that showed me some cars I might be interested in since now I hate my car. But unfortunately the sales guys told me I could only get like 11.5k for my car. Given that I paid almost 17k for it, I wasn't about to sell it at negative equity. So I'm still a bit peeved at the issues. I was sold a warranty in a misleading way, and I have a car I would not have ever bought if I knew there was a problem with the turbo, which I am pretty confident was not disclosed to me - certainly not that the turbo was considered a salvage from Mazda. It also sucked having to deal with the entire process, and now I don't know if I have a Powertrain warranty anymore. But I mean, at least they covered it for free, and the sales staff and boss were all friendly about it. I really would prefer to go back in time and not buy this car, but what can I do. read more

Our sales person, Chris, handled our deal from beginning to end, and he did everything he could to make us feel comfortable, welcome, and informed about the car as well as the buying process. He did NOT attack us with a bunch of hard lines and pressure, as you might expect at some dealerships. We use to take both of our Mazda's to Tracy Mazda, but now that we live in Dublin we decided to take our vehicles to Dublin Mazda for Oil Change and Tire rotation and came to find out that we got charge double for the service on both vehicles. Kristin at Dublin Mazda was nice but did made our visit personal or pleasant, it was more business transaction deal. As a Service Consultant my self, I always try to make my customer's visit a pleasant one and a personal.
