I have been going to this shop for sometime and has always been great until my last visit. I had to have my fuel pump replaced on my Ford Expedition. The initial contact was great. I was given a certain price and when I went to pick up the vehicle, the price increases almost $300. This is very bad business and I will never go to this shop again! Not good business T. I bought (from a private seller) a 1996 GMC Jimmy. The previous owner had it sitting on non op for close to 3 years. Only taking it around the block occasionally. So, when I bought it, I had no idea what to expect because I have never bought from a private seller before. I took it to get smogged and it was considered a gross polluter. Which was a new term to me. Also, the electrical system had a short. My ex boyfriend takes his 1995 GMC Sierra here to Auto Specialties for maintenance. THAT truck was on his last legs in legs years before that,, and Auto Specialties did great work on it! That's how I came to trust them. A wonderful man that goes by the name of "T".... and his mechanics were sympathetic of my situation. And he did absolute WONDERS with my Jimmy! I mean .. . hands down the best service!!! T is upfront and honest and will discuss what is going on with your vehicle. As well as what the best course of action should be. We have had 3 different vehicles serviced by Auto Specialties. This is a top notch operation. We took our 2008 Chrysler Town and Country here. Better than going to the dealer. They performed work in a timely manner and provided us with a full check including pictures of problems with the vehicle. We take our 2003 Toyota here and only here for service. The local dealer is always wanting to repair something for a high price. Auto Specialties always takes care of us and often I can wait for the car, especially if I tell them ahead of time. Just this week the car started shaking violently and the engine was running very rough. I was able to drive it there, told Jason what the problem was and he gave me a quote. He calmed me down and assured me that he could fix the problem. In less than 4 hours problem solved. Just needed new plugs and a coil. Jason told me to keep driving the car and not to get another one. $$$ saved!!! Car now drives like a dream. Lastly but the best of all we were looking for a car for my son. We found a local seller who told us that they had all the service records, they were the second owner and then to top it off guess where they had the car serviced, yup, Auto Specialities. That sealed the deal and my son loves his 2004 BMW. Just had a window fixed and I know it cost us less than a BMW dealer. I can not recommend this shop more highly. read more

I recently had to have some work done to my vehicle, and asked around Tracy, getting a recommendation for this shop. I checked on yelp and a few other places, and saw nothing but good reviews. Called in, and Jasen got me in the very next morning. Quotes were given, everything was explained in detail to me, and there were no hidden costs. Stand up honest shop. I was getting ready to give my review, which I never really do, but their customer service went beyond what I was use to getting! Ended up having a little situation come up a few days after getting my car back. Called on the weekend (they are closed) not expecting a call back, just wanting to leave a message. Got a call back immediately from Ken, the owner, who not only took care of the situation, took care of my vehicle on his day off and shop being closed! I was/am beyond impressed with his care and customer service, just like his manager Jason. You just don't see this kind of care anymore, with businesses. He even delivered my car to me, as I had no way to pick it up and two sick kiddos at home and dealing with greeting me in my pajamas! Not only will I recommend his shop to others, I wouldn't hesitate to return when I need car service. If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would. Great business owner and stand up man. read more

PLEASE SPARE YOURSELF!!! DO NOT USE AUTO SPECIALTIES!!! Long story short, we brought my husbands truck here as he was experiencing loss of power while driving. I paid for Auto Specialties to wrongfully diagnose and repair our truck. They told me it was the turbos that needed to be replaced in which I paid nearly $2500. No mention of any other possible issues. The process took several weeks in which they had our truck and did not communicate when the repairs would be completed. I had to call several times to get updates. Finally they said the truck was ready. We went to pick up the truck and literally while driving home the truck lost power and the same problem was there. After several weeks without our truck and nearly $2500 later... for the same issue to be there!!?!??? I ended up having the truck towed to Ford as I did not feel safe driving the truck at this point , all for Ford to tell me it was not the turbos but the transmission itself. I had to replace my transmission and the problem was solved. I ended up taking Auto Specialties to small claims court in which a judge ordered in my favor. I have reached out to Mr. London and Auto Specialities several times to receive the payment that was court ordered, and they have yet to pay!!! Save your time and a headache and avoid this company!!! I've taken my truck here many times, and Jason has always done a honest job. I recently took my wife's Kia Sorento for a engine knocking noise. I originally took it to a Kia dealership, because I thought I had a warranty. Kia says no warranty, so I reluctantly ok'd the repairs, and they replaced the tensioner. The noise remained, but I declined further repairs, as I felt I was overcharged. Because I felt AS and Jason did a good job on prior repairs, I called to set up an appointment. Jason said they found a leaking water pump (Kia didn't), and diagnosed the AC compressor bearings were bad. (Kia suspected). So I had both replaced. Initially, the noise was gone but returned a couple days later. I took it back, to AS, but this time Jason seemed to have an attitude problem. Just felt like I was bothering him on this issue. So he takes two days and says he replaced the AC compressor again, assured me that it was good. The noise again appeared to be gone, but returned a short time later. I didn't feel like I could take it back to AS, a third time, so I then decided to have a friend listen to it. My friend listens to the noise for approximately 30-seconds, then used a long screwdriver to "Stethoscope" it. He determined it was the Alternator. My friend offered to replace it, and after replacing the part, the noise was friggin gone. Hallelujah! Hard to believe that the Kia Mechanic, and Jason with Auto Specialties could not diagnose this the first, second or third time. My friend said it should have been the first part to be looked at. Hmmm...? I guess I posted this because I felt ripped off for a combined $2,000, by what I thought were knowledgeable and honest people. I feel that parts that got replaced didn't need to be if Kia/AS had just did the right diagnosis. I'm going to try and dispute the charges with my CC company but I doubt I'll get any $ back. I'll be taking my vehicles to another mechanic. I'll also advise you to be certain to research the reviews prior to trusting the next shop. That may be easier said than done. JD read more

I have lived in Tracy for Almost 20 years and have been going to this team of mechanics for almost that same amount of time. I have never brought them a problem they could not fix including fixing my power windows on my BMW. Jim and Jason are always attentive and take the time to explain what the problem is. Additionally, They have always been honest with their assessment of the problem and always give you several options to make the repair and get you back on the road. There are times where I have brought my vehicle in and it would be something so minor they didn't charge me. Like I stated earlier...a business conducted with integrity! My 99 BMW water pump failed enroute to northern California. Not being from the area, I called Auto Specialties because of their Yelp rating. AS jumped right on it and if it had been fixable in a few hours, I'm sure I would have been back on the road same day. Unfortunately it was a 4 hr job and it was 4pm. We got our suv serviced here and had a mystery problem which they were eager to find out and fix. I got an appt for 2 days after I called and had my car back same day! They are really good about answering their phones, calling to update and letting you know when the car is ready. We are semi new to the area and what a huge relief it is to have a mechanic we can trust! They figured out our problem and our car which is a 2008, runs like new. We have been going to Auto Specialties for all of our auto repair needs since 2000. We purchased a new Toyota in 2010 where we took it to the Toyota dealership only twice where we had unfriendly service AND they did not correct the problem after keeping our car for 3 business days each time, so we took it to Jason and Jim where they immediately diagnosed the problem and within 24 hours we had are car back.
