I don't usually write reviews however I feel this business went above and beyond to help me and deserves one. I called informing them my AC wasn't working and asked for a quote. They helped me out the same day and got my AC running and cooling. Thank goodness because it was going to be over 100 degrees that weekend. I am thankful for their help and next time I need repairs for my car I will go to Avilas Auto Repair. Staff was super nice and friendly too! Avila's Auto Repair has the best customer service. I brought my car in for repair and the older gentleman call to see if he could get the part. He was successful. When changing the part they texted a video of the old part and new part. They told me my car would be ready that day and it was. I'll be referring friends to this business. read more

My Prius has overheated and needed major engine repair as oil had leaked to other places. Other mechanics quoted me 3x what I was charged here. Plus, at Avila's they told me what I needed was much less extensive. I went ahead and got a newer engine, had money leftover for tune up and oil change and still less than what I was quoted at other shops. It took almost a week, and my car was in much better shape. read more

This place is awesome the family is so kind and welcoming. I came in for an oil change & mr Avila and his son were very helpful & kind towards me. Mr Avila also noticed my valve covers need to be replaced ok what the hell is that I think to myself he explains & explains the process gives me a quote & lets me make a decision he did not pressure me just assured me when I was ready to get that done with them as soon as possible I have finally scheduled an appt with mr Avila for this repair & am happy to be back as a customer. I have had wonderful experiences at this shop. I started by bringing my younger brothers car here for some general maintence; oil change, brakes, tranny flush and they were very reasonable priced, and were able to finish the same day. Second time I came was to bring my business truck (boxed 17' truck) for tranny gasket and valve cover gasket repair. I use my truck daily for work, and need it to complete my work, I explained how much I would appreciate to have the truck done asap, and they made sure to complete the job the same day. Again, job was very reasonable priced. I have been there a couple more times since for different service needs as well with taking my friends truck and we have been pleased every time. I would recommend that is looking for honest and reasonable priced mechanics. Best in town!!!!! read more

I had 3 problems with this workshop..... Pro:: Communication was good. (in retrospect I think comms have to be good if they want to charge you ridiculously higher prices ) Cons :: a) I was told, after the work on my car was done, that the AC compressor was bad (AC was working fine before going into the shop) and that it would cost me about $700 for compressor and labor.....at a different and much reasonable shop I was told that the compressors was fine! In the end i just ended up adding $35 worth AC PRO Refrigerant (the one that comes with some oil for sealing minor leaks....The compressor ran fine through the summer. b) I later found that I was charged about 35% higher for an engine job. Almost more or equal to Dealer price c) After the major repair I was told that the Downstream O2 sensor had gone bad. I was told that it would cost me about $170 for it. Later on i just did that myself....took $25 for part and anout 15 minutes to change with a tool that one can borrow from Autozone!!! I am not a mechanic myself and I understand that everyone does business for profit but my experience with the AC issue is really turned me off (because I almost had said yes for the shop to go forward with the compressor replacement). Not a very good experience. My short term recommendation is not to use this shop unless yours is a trust-fund car. My long term recommendation (even for myself) would be to go Electric as soon as possible....these shops charge 30-50 % higher for parts, otherwise they will not warranty their work.......so if you have a major job you are pretty much stuck in buying part at a much higher price. ( even if you buy the part from the same shop that these repair shops buy from!) read more

This place is a joke. They tried charging me $180 for a 15 minute job. I Needed my u joints replaced for my driveshaft. I told them I will bring the driveshaft and u joints my self out of the car. I said wow $180? He said ya or you can do it yourself. (I don't have the special needle nose tool) or else I would've idiot! ....called a couple other places and ended up going down the street to another shop he charged me $30 and swapped out both u joints in less than 10mins. Places like this over charge you for no reason. THIS IS NOT A HONEST PLACE TO BRING YOUR CAR TOO. YOU MIGHT GET OVERCHARGED. read more

Just going to start by saying, do not do business with this shop. They charged more than a dealership does for labor, and mark up the parts almost double the cost. For the service and repair I got, it was way overpriced. Shop around before bringing your car in for service. Will not take my car back to this place!! So you charge more for an hour of labor than a dealership?! How is that possible. Cut the BS, you said you ordered the part from O'reillys...another lie I was told too!! read more

Took my Honda for a new alternator. They fixed it on the same day. The owner even came out and towed it to the shop for a reasonable fee. This place has good, fast, reliable, friendly service and have good reasonable prices. They defiantly got my business. So far I've been nothing short of impressed getting my SUV serviced at avilas Peace of Mind -All the parts I had installed are covered by a 24K mile warranty two year warranty Prompt Service -I had a 8am appointment and the team at avilas was ready. I was able to drop off my car and head out after only a few minutes. Keeping me Up to date I've never had a mechanic keep me so well informed on the progress of my service. He treated my SUV like I had left an injured child with him. In total I had 5 separate phone calls with Eduardo After telling me his diagnostic he further went on to very clearly explain why he recommended service with estimates on cost every step of the way. -Before beginning any work he made sure to get my approval. Avila's had the best auto repair experience that I have had in my life! My car broke down near Tracy on I5 at 1pm while driving up from LA after Christmas. I yelped Avila's and spoke with Eduardo. I was given a great breakdown of what will happen with the repair of my car to diagnose the issue. (Codes, fees, timeframe and etc.) I felt comfortable enough with that conversation that I decided not to call the other 10+ shops that were in the surrounding area. When I arrived at 2p by tow truck, his father who was the mechanic started to work on my Infiniti G35 right away and diagnosed within a short time that it was probably a broken throttle body sensor. It "might" be fixed by the next day....depending on whether the part was available to get. So, in the meantime, they drove my pregnant girlfriend to get lunch and afterwards, dropped us off at the rental car place! We wanted to rent a car to come back next day...we live in SF. It turned out that all the rental car places were fully booked. (I called 6 places and all booked!) So, we had to stay overnight. We woke up the next day and Eduardo called me first thing in the morning saying that the part was available and we would have the car fixed by noon! He called at 11am and said the car was fixed/running great. He actually picked us up from the hotel and took us back to the shop. This was so above and beyond normal service. I was so grateful that everyone at Avila's made this situation a much more calming/comfortable ordeal than what it could have turned out to be. read more

Avila's towed my non-starting car and diagnosed an alternator failure. Replacement alternator failed very quickly, but Avila's towed it again and replaced the defective alternator free of charge. Avila's initially quoted a very high price for a new battery but did some additional shopping around to find a better deal at my request. read more
