I don't know what has changed as I don't believe he spends a lot of time in the repair area but my last experience was very disappointing as I don't think the work was done well. A neighbor also went and they did a an awful job on their vehicle so much so they had to tow the vehicle to another shop in town. A short time ago I brought my car into D&M for service. The car had difficulty starting most of the time. I suspected the starter had gone bad. They looked at my car right away and confirmed my suspicion. The starter needed to be replaced. They got the work completed the same day and checked to see if everything else was OK. My Dodge Challenger was diagnosed with a blown head gasket. It was pretty hard to find a shop that will be willing to do the work as the car exceeded the 100K miles. Called D&M and they were willing to do the work and quoted it at $4k. I turned the car in for the repair and they called me the day after to let me know they diagnosed the car and found there was no blown gasket and my problem was with the safety thermostat of the cooling system. They replaced the thermostat which costed me a little over $300. I was very impressed and appreciative of their honesty and integrity as they could have made much more money by sticking with the false diagnostics that I received from an other shop. I live 30 min away from Tracy but since then I bring all my cars to D&M as I know there will be no fishy business from these guys. Their prices were also much more reasonable than any other shop I received a quote from. Aneka, the lady who runs the front desk is very professional, communicative and willing to help with any question or logistic issues. Highly recommend. The used car drove well at the dealership but I thought she should have an inspection. Dan noticed the car's computer was reset and shared it is possible to see problems as we drive the car more. Turns out was he was completely correct because later the day, the turn signals, headlights, and power windows all stopped working. Luckily my mom did not keep the car and this episode is closed. Rant - D&M automotive located at 543 W Grant line Rd tracy. Great reviews. Got the job done quick..... But.... Background... I'm a foreman for an union a/c company and before that I was a fully certified ase mechanic for 12 years. My wife's car started smoking from the engine and the back near the exhaust. I had her tow it to this great reviewed auto shop because I just don't have the time to fix it. They diagnose a locked up a/c compressor clutch/pulley. $1022 to fix and replace guaranteed this is the problem. That was Tuesday. Got the car back October 11th Wednesday. A/C goes out today. I call and ask if I can drop it off tomorrow. (D&M front counter douchebag) nope we are booked till Monday. (Me) wouldn't you put warranty work first especially since I just picked it up yesterday at $1,000. (D&M front counter douchebag) nope we are booked. You know the A/C system has a lot of components to it so its probably something else (Me) Man to man I work for an A/C company, did you replace the orings on the discharge and suction line going to the compressor (D&M front counter douchebag) yes we did but it is possible it could be something else and we just don't have the time (Me) how about this. Your service ticket says you put leak detecting dye in the system. I have a uv light and if I see the die coming out of the compressor you replaced I will bring it in tomorrow and you will fix it (D&M front counter douchebag) Nope were all booked till Monday. Morals and ethics are gone. No accountability. No I'm sorry about that... bring it in and we will fix it. Just a sorry bro sucks for you... thanks for the money B@$%h. The girl who works the front was nice and I appreciate that the didn't charge me anything since it didn't have a diagnostic code. However, they didn't even look at my car to find out why it was leaking oil and the owner has poor customer service. I can't express how much relief it is having an honest, knowledgeable mechanic. Dan and his team never seem to disappoint. They know their trade inside and out and are never afraid to say we can't perform that job rather than saying "Yeah, we can fix it", when it's something they don't do. No one likes hearing of costly repairs, and most can't help to think "They're trying to rip me off" I can attest that not only has D&M always provided me the services/repairs at a fair price, they've also saved me money by telling me services that my vehicles may soon need such as; brakes are low, but don't need to be replaced yet, serpetine belt is showing wear, but OK at this time, tires need to be replaced (they don't sell or recommend you to someone) but replace soon to avoid damaging other suspension parts, air filters is getting dirty and will need to be replaced at next oil change, etc. Most places will try to get you to do the work even when it may not be needed yet. I whole heartedly trust D&M and take their word. I've had enough experiences with car dealerships shops, and shady mechanics, to know a gem when I find one. Of course the ac decided not to work as soon as there was a heat wave. I asked for a consultation for fixing it and they gave me a flat rate of $109 for checking for leaks as well as refilling the refrigerant up to 1lb. Additional cost $30 extra per lb. left there 30 mins and cost me less than $150. To me that was pretty worth it. It's almost been a week and so far so good. read more

The light that every car driver hates to see/hear: Check Engine. My 2007 Toyota Sienna recently got this light and going to the local Toyota dealership, they literally wanted $500 to $600 in repairs. We had to get our van ready for our family trips we are taking later this summer and needed to get this problem taken care of. I tried calling several garages and all of them were either busy and couldn't see till the late afternoon or were booked with appointments. Enter D&M Automotive. I called them up early Monday morning and Aneica answered the call. She told me that despite not having an appointment, that there was time to bring in my van at 11am. Needless to say, I took her up on the offer. Upon arriving at the facility, they had a nice seating area with complimentary coffee, water and cookies. Soon as I arrived, I waited about an hour and Dan (the owner of the shop) let me know what was exactly causing the check engine light. He told me that the repair would be done this afternoon and would be done at a much better price than it would be at the dealership. Took my 2009 Escape in when the check engine light came on. My brother had told me I needed new spark plugs. Dan asked me if I wanted to just go by what my brother said or do a diagnosis. I opted for the diagnosis and am very glad I did. One of my injectors was bad. Total cost for one injector and 6 plugs was a LOT cheaper than other shops and they communicated with both my brother and me as to the progress of the job.
