On Aug 6th I placed an order for a Canon Gun Safe which showed online, in stock and available at the Gilroy, CA location. The purchase online went through no problem. The following morning, I got an email saying that my item was ready for pickup. To me that means, someone PHYSICALLY pulled or tagged the item for me. Being that the item is a heavy safe, I brought my brother and law and nephew with me to go pick it up. We dont live in the same city as the store so we drove about 30 minutes. Fortunately my brother and law and nephew were able to put aside what they were doing to help me go get the product I ordered. When we got to the store, I went inside and talked to the person at the customer service desk. The store computer says they had 3 safes in stock. The employee scrambled around the store and outside the store to find the safe I ordered but it didnt exist. The ONLY safe in the store of the model I ordered was the floor model and that was tagged for someone else to pickup / buy. After 30 minutes of waiting around in the store, the employee apologized and they refunded my purchase. I left VERY disappointed and angry that this could even happen. This wasnt a miscounted bag of dog food....it's an $800 SAFE. Why was the store inventory off by so much? Not only did it waste MY time and I went home empty handed, but it wasted the time of my brother in law and nephew who went up to help me. It was embarrassing to say the least. Ive been a loyal customer of Tractor Supply for many years and I felt this experience was completely avoidable and a slap in the face. read more

Working off of Word of Mouth information I called Tractor Supply in Gilroy to confirm that they indeed have propane since their Watsonville Store employee looked at me like I had two heads when I asked for propane. So I get to the Gilroy store only to be told that they can't go out in the dark and access their propane. Yeah he recommended I go somewhere else, I guess it's only dangerous for some people. But what got me going is that I phoned in before I came. Do people not know anything about the companies they work for? I ordered a few products online that I needed for my animals. They advertised curbside pick up due to social distancing for Covid-19. I went to pick up my items and there was a sign on the door saying to call for curbside pick up. I had no cell service so I stepped into the store to ask for curbside pick up. No one inside were wearing masks. I asked a gentleman at the checkout (Joe) if he could get someone for curbside pick up. He said "No, you have to call". I explained that I had no cell service. He replied, "Not my problem." I ended up having to go into the crowded store (very few people wearing masks) to find a manager to get my order. I am really uncomfortable with what I might have been exposed to. That is why I am only shopping at places with curbside pick up. I will never shop there again!! read more

Rarely do you find a place where EACH employee asks "how are you doing today?" and "do you need help finding anything?" I was there, looking for a dog kennel. The first employee spoke to me outside as I was walking away from the car toward the store. I thought he was a random guy passing and speaking until noticing that he worked there. Then it was the cashier as I entered the store, then other employees.. all inquiring about my day and/or offering to help. Now, I don't expect everyone who asks how I'm doing to be truly interested in my long rough-day story if I had one to share. I was hit with a long rough-times story after asking a stranger how he was doing once; wow... wasn't ready for that. :) But it's GREAT customer service. And that's what you can find at TSC. They were very helpful, like that of a well-run family business or a business that just cares about their customers returning. Of course, I like to compare. And no problem... the guy broke down the comparisons. I left to consider which one to buy, borrowed a truck and returned a few days later to purchase it. The experience of my first trip guaranteed my return to purchase. Otherwise, I would've continued searching for kennels. Great customer service goes a long way. I always leave with a smile. And 100-200lbs of feed. Or two USA-made Hi-Lift jacks and a chain hoist. And the gal at the checkout says, "Going to Hollister Hills eh?" and I say, "No, I can get into this much trouble on my own place". Because of the horsey stuff and clothes they seem kinda trendy but they're a real-live Midwestern company that started out as, well, a tractor supply. "Stuff you need out here" indeed. I had never been here before and I decided one day just to stop in and check it out. The store was way bigger than I expected. I didn't really have anything I was looking for so I just wandered around seeing what there was to see. I was asked a couple times if I wanted help which was nice, I know that if I need help I can find it. This place is basically like a hardware store but they have a lot more large industrial things, like tractor drive lines and giant springs, farm jacks, things like that. I was pretty impressed overall and I will keep this place in mind if I ever need any hardware parts or wheelbarrow tires ect. They also sell dog food and Carhart, Duck Commander, and other camo and work gear. read more

Our family always has such a wonderful time whenever we visit this store. We come here for chicken supplies mostly but love to look at all the interesting things they are selling. The prices for the grit and feed are reasonable but not everything in the store is. I think it could be way too easy to go there for feed and practical supplies and end up coming away with all sorts of items not on the list. Some of the cute items we enjoyed looking at were the cute baby onesies (born to farm), the welcome rooster figurine, the cowboy hats, cow-girl boots (pink just the way my daughter thinks they should be hahaha), chicken stuffed animals (we are a poultry loving family), and all sorts of interesting gardening items. If you do not want to be tempted by all the pretty eye-candy items then go wearing blinders 8) It's a great place to buy supplies. We especially love the brooder pens they have in the middle of the store with the most adorable little chicks and ducks. I am now officially sold on the idea of buying some ducks next year. Too bad they do not have turkey poults for sale in the store (they are special order only) because I would definitely buy from them. They do special orders for birds but the minimum is twenty-five and I am not in need of 25 birds. All of the employees are polite and helpful and the service has always been tops. I will shop here again and again as long as we live in Gilroy. read more

I love this store!!! It has become my mini-home depot. I originally went in because they were nice enough to loan me water troughs (over and over again) for the Information booths at the Gilroy Garlic Festival. I am now buying all my dog food and supplies here and other things that I have needed for around the house. Yes, I did need that leapord duct tape...why, I dont know??? They have great little sales too! I often have to ask myself...need it vs. want it? The store is nice enough and the employees try to be friendly, but when you buy grain or feed in a bag, Check. The. Label. I just tried to buy a bag of rolled barley. It was barley but it wasn't rolled. After some conversation, they agreed to let me bring it back for exchange. Drove back, gas is expensive, was not happy. Patrick who brought out the replacement bag and I both checked the label and it said "rolled barley" so I took it home. It's not rolled. With the first bag I blamed the store but now I think it's the supplier. I wanted to speak to customer service but no such luck. Only automated switchboard that has no option for complaints or suggestions. Employees at Gilroy store are nice but hampered by suppliers. If you can't see what's in the bag, don't buy it. read more

I initially went to the Watsonville location during the storms for a generator. They were out and called gilroy. The Gilroy location put one on hold for me. When I arrived I was greeted and when I asked about the on hold generator was shown it waiting for me at the front checkout on a dolly ready to go. Staff also was prepped with what oil was needed and a gas can. In/out less than 10 minutes. Super friendly and helpful. read more

Lowes. Thats where we ended up buying our log splitter today. I don't yelp very often but when I do its because someone did something really good or really bad. You decide. Since we (did) frequent TSC quite a bit and probably spent too much money there on things I didn't need (my fault!) we decided to take advantage of a sale on a Huskee 22-ton log splitter for $1099.. Not bad. I called - "Have two in stock!". Showed up and checked wkith Ron and he said they still had them. Bought some other stuff and paid for the splitter. Go to get loaded and Kevin said they don't have any.. Confused look for us. (But you already charged me for it!). Ron says... Kevin says.. Luis finally figures it out.. We sold you something we don't have. We can order you one and get it in a few weeks or refund your money. (Can I get a refund on my 1hr drive each way and gas money too?). As this is transpiring its always nice when the sales staff make comments like "This is just people inside trying to make me hate my job".. Dude, are you kidding? I'm thinking this is more like employees trying to make customers hate your store. Theres plenty more to the story such as multiple managers, none of which can actually help.. Like my suggestion of me buying a more expensive splitter on the spot and maybe give me a little discount for not having what you told me you did, charging me and then being rude. Lowes: 27 ton splitter, honda motor (better than Briggs in my opinion) and $1399.. TSC just lost a customer that spends thousands a year there over a issue that could have been fixed for a 10% discount on a larger splitter ($170 off, I tried to upsell myself to them!) and I just got a larger one for $300.. I went to make a return at the Gilroy store this evening for a leather belt I purchased last week and was treated with the most disrespect I have ever experienced at any store in my life, hands down. I had my receipt, my I.D. and the credit card I used for my purchase. The belt I initially bought was a 36" size and when i tried it on in the car, I noted I needed a 38" belt so I went back inside and exchanged it within 5 minutes of purchasing it. The clerk took my receipt, did the exchange and handed me the receipt back. Tonight, I went back to the store to return the unused belt because my brother had bought me one that same day. The cashier couldn't get the belt on the receipt to match the belt I had, most likely because I exchanged it the first day and so the receipt still showed the shorter belt. She called the "manager," Francisca to the register and that's when the insults, accusations and disrespect began. She told me she would not do the exchange because the belt didn't match the receipt (even though it in fact did match the receipt with the exception of my belt being 38" and the belt on the receipt being the original 36". Everything else, including the price was identical.) Then, she told me that people were stealing items from other stores and trying to return them, insinuating that I was one of those people! I happen to be the CEO of a large corporation up in San Jose, CA and employ people like her to clean my office so being told that I likely stole this belt and was trying to return it was appalling. She went on to tell me that she would "let me keep the belt" even though she was supposed to keep it since it might be stolen! I asked her, "so because I brought this belt into the store, in a Tractor Supply bag, from my car, with a receipt showing my credit card number on it, you are saying you're going to take the belt from me and kick me out of the store?" Her response: Yes. All of this was done in front of about 5 customers waiting in line behind me making the moment even more disrespectful and embarrassing. At that point, I told her I would be contacting the corporate office and walked out. This is the most disrespect I have ever experienced from any store in my entire life. I emailed corporate tonight demanding something be done about this immediately or I will escalate this to the Better Business Bureau and any other reviews website that will listen. Right now, we purchase thousands of dollars worth of supply from Tractor Supply for our 18 horses and we have dozens of ranchers that live here in Gilroy who when told about this story, WILL shop elsewhere. All of this over a $24.99 Wrangler leather belt, when I spend THOUSANDS at their stores. Please people, find another more reputable company to buy your farm supplies from because if they screw up something on your receipt, even if all the info matches your ID and credit card, they will tell you to shove it and kick you out. If you're lucky, you might get to keep the merchandise you purchased although apparently they normally confiscate it, refuse to give you your money back and kick you out. I smell a lawsuit brewing. read more

Metal T-post here are cheaper than any other places, including HomeDepot and Lowes. And plus, it is Made in USA and it looks more solid and in better shape than choosing your own at the big box store. They have many more options for fencing wires here. read more

Tractor Supply is a great store! I grew up in Nebraska where this type of mercantile/agricultural supply business was commonplace. Each time I visit the store, it is like being back home in the Panhandle. I've got a small yard, so most of my projects are a bit undersized for this store, but usually I can find what I need at the Gilroy Tractor Supply. The prices are fair and the employees are helpful and friendly--and management doesn't force them to be patronizing and syrupy. I like their no-nonsense approach to home/ranch supplies. Whether I'm canning, looking for clothes, digging a trench or buying toys, etc. I can count on Tractor Supply! And being there is a breath of fresh air and an escape from some of those other home improvement superstores and x-pensive "boutique" garden stores. I don't feel like such a "mark" when I shop there. Pulled in here to stop during a short road trip. Wouldn't give us any water for the horse we were trailering. Asked if we could bring a small bucket to the bathroom to fill up. They said no. What is Customer Service ? Because no one seems to know anymore.. At least here... I called and asked simply for a starter for my lawnmower, was quickly told ... " Dont have it ! " I ( the customer ) then asked " Can you order it or something ? " Then in a ( I HAVE TO WORK ) tone of voice .. the kind of voice that is really talking you out of dealing with this company.. " Uh yeah I would have to make a call and it would probably take 3 weeks to get ." I then asked would I be able to get a price? .. response.. " Well, yeah I can call the supplier find out what my price is and then based on my price could give you your price." I think he then figured out I was sticking around.. " tell you what, why dont I get your number...." I then jumped in and said .. Are you the manager... "yes " was the reply.. I said " is it generally your policy to not help the customer get the part? but, rather have them ask the company if they can? " He said " No.." I replied, " Obviously it is, so I will call a company that wants my business... and people complain that THE ECONOMY is the reason they are not making money.... It was our first time going to the store. We found our dog house for 1/2 the price than other stores. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I've forgotten how customer service used to be as it has declined over the years but was reminded of this while interacting with the team at the store. I spend approx 1000-1500/month in this store (because of the convenient location to my business) and you would think store management could be a little more excited to help me when I come in. Multiple times I've experienced eye rolls, exasperated sighs and arguing with employees right in front of me! Great store, I bought a truck toolbox and other supplies for my truck and they were very helpful.

Let me start by saying we are in TS once a week buying dog food and other stuff. We have spent thousands of dollars over the last few years. We needed to purchase horse fencing. We went in last night and I asked for a manager because it's a large purchase and I wanted to make sure we got any discounts on large purchases. We spoke with George the manager, he looked up what we needed and yes there were discounts on pallets of t posts and fencing. He said I see 325 5 1/2 t posts here but that might not be accurate so lets go with 300. Um OK we need 330 so since they are bundled in packs of 5 it should be easy to see if there really are 325. No we can't do that, can't do what? Count before buying? Lets go with the 300 then whatever is left over you can come back in and pay for. REALLY??? Ok so we pay for 300 t posts, go out and pull in to where all the t posts are. We get out and he says oh I'm sorry I guess we really don't have ANY 5 1/2 foot t posts. We have a few, do you want those? No we don't want those, we paid for 300 as your system says you have 325. We get the well we are sorry, we can try and refund the money. TRY? Ok does the Watsonville store have any? They may but that is a different owner and you can't pick them up there. We said how about giving us the 6 footers then since YOU made the mistake and there are plenty. Again, the manager George said no I am sorry we can't do that either, we need to refund then recharge your credit card, after he told me the refund could take up to 3 days to show up on my credit card. WORST manager ever. They just lost another customer. So we drove to Lowe's and guess what they had 6 foot t posts for less than TS, heavy duty and they threw in the clips for free since we made a large purchase and was told when we come back today to get the 9 rolls of 330 foot fencing they will give us a 10% discount. AND the same fencing is less than TS. Go figure! Side note: I called the District Manager as I was so mad. She was very helpful and apologetic for what happened. She offered a resolution and I am thankful for that. read more

I am very frustrated with the service I've received from this store. First of all, the man who helped me was extremely rude with me, answering my questions as if I was incapable of understanding what he was saying. Absolutely terrible customer service. I bought a trailer anyways, and was expecting paperwork from the DMV after 90 days. Its been more than 4 months and I still haven't received anything. I called the DMV after 90 days and they said they had not even received the paperwork they needed from Tractor Supply! I was very upset. I've been contacting the manager trying to get it sorted out and every time I call he has some excuse, or can't get to the phone, or will "call me back" but never does. I am fed up at this point and just want to get rid of the trailer I shouldn't have even bought from them in the first place, but I can't even do that without the DMV paperwork. If you are a welder, this is a terrific place---and if you like Hobart welding products--then even more so! There is one entire aisle completely dedicated to welders and welding supplies (mostly Hobart brands). Tractor Supply also puts Home Depot, Lowe's, and Orchard Supply to shame with the selection of steel they have with low prices---they have many of the most popular shapes of cold-rolled mild steel (e.g., sheet, plate, round stock, angle, channel, square stock, flat stock) in 26 gauge to 1/4" thicknesses. What more could a D-I-Y welder ask for? And their prices are competitive with the best on-line prices. The customer service is excellent---one of the gals there patiently helped me to find the price of a specialty clamp that was unmarked. I live North of the store, about a 45-minute drive away, but it's OK since I like to look around besides just shopping for welding supplies. If you are looking for a specific welding product or a certain steel shape/thickness, you should call first and ask them to confirm that it is in stock at the store. read more
