They said they would start with a bath and go slow with the blower and see how she does. They assured me they'd stop at any point if she got too anxious with the process. She did well and I picked her up a few hours later with her smelling great with a nice trim as well. She looked amazing. I am really happy with the staff at Cali Petz. Everyone is very kind and willing to talk about any concerns I had throughout the process. I will definitely be going back for dog grooming. It started very well in the beginning early last year. But, today I picked up my dog and she was shaved again! They had her in there for 3hours! Just to shave all her fur! :( I asked for a trim half an inch on the body (I don't want her shaved, keep her fluffy) shave the tummy, clean private parts, teeth cleaning and bath. I had her groomed to be ready for a photo and now she's shaven. I'm so upset! This is the second time they did this to us. And, I can't be understanding anymore. Last time was last November 2025. So she's, ready for the holiday festivities and photos. But, she was shaved! I had to have her wear sweaters all winter because she was getting cold and looked malnourished. And, they offer a free grooming for next time! Why in the world would I bring my dog to them again. No consistency! Both times it was the same person at the drop off. I have nothing good to say to this place anymore.

The structure of Petsmart in Gilroy is a bit annoying. You call at one time and you can get a response "there's no one who can answer a stock question at this time", you can show up in person and though the store has three to four times as many visible employees than Petco, you can get a response "sorry but at this time we can only sell essential products!"??? Then there's Cydney. Someone who desires to help customers. Someone who decides that whether corporate management or this branch management teams structures to turn people away as opposed to take care of them, she decides to take care of them. She doesn't make excuses for the highly unusual conditions but she explains. She is knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. I learned more from her in the ten minutes that I was in her presence than in ten years of attending pet stores. Though I am not happy with how Petsmart has evolved in their business practices, I am happy that Cydney is willing and able to provide the utmost in customer service.

Now that Juan Ortega has taken over the business, I really wasn't worried one bit taking my dogs to him because he's always been a very kind, caring, friendly sidekick to Albert. Nina who took care of the appointment and put me at ease about asking Juan to use our own shampoo was super attentive!! She took massive notes - even though she knows my dogs - and really a gem. Juan Made sure to say hello when I dropped them off and when I picked them up, he made sure to personally let me know how it went for both of them even though he was very busy. I have to admit that my dogs were matted, nervous and a little stressed out given that where we had moved there were no groomers willing to take them in a regular basis. Juan did a fantastic job on my dogs. They look gorgeous. I have him the freedom to do what he needed but I also asked not to push them beyond their limits and he didn't. Evidenced by a tail on one that is still messed up (future vet visit will take care of it) and certain sensitive areas were also left alone because this particular dog really really doesn't like it. I'm thrilled with the way my dogs reacted when I picked them up. They didn't really have to go potty to urgently. They weren't stressed more than normal when having to be away from their 24/7 mom for 5 hours. Juan you rock!!!! If you live within driving distance from Gilroy and you want a groomer that is caring, great at his art, a sweetheart with a front office person that is worth her weight in gold, please go to Sassy Pooch!!!!! They will have all purchased items ready for you. Drive to their location and call them once parked and they will bring everything out and load in your car. Open Monday to Friday only. Food comes completely frozen packed in a cardboard box. I only feed my dog raw and give him half protein (beef, turkey or salmon) and half tripe (goat or beef), and add a little organ. I rotate a different protein every few days for nutrition and to keep things interesting. My dog loves meal time, is very healthy with a shiny coat. Don't forget to give raw bones twice a week. For my border collie I go with beef rib on Fridays and goat bone on Mondays. Perfect white teeth never bad breath or dental issues. Happy healthy dog.

I especially like checking the small animal section because with three guinea pigs, I'm constantly needing hay, bedding, food, treats, or something for their cage. I also like seeing if they have anything new that I haven't tried with my girls before. Overall, I always enjoy stopping by Petco. Whether I'm actually there to stock up on supplies or just looking around, there's usually something new to see.
