The adoption process was quick, smooth, and easy to navigate, which made bringing home my new pup stress-free. I also appreciated that the adoption included spay services and vaccinations, showing how much the shelter cares about the health and well-being of their animals. Most importantly, I absolutely love my adopted pup! She has already brought so much joy into my life. Thank you to everyone at Santa Clara Animal Shelter for helping us find each other. I have been going to Ganado for 4 years now, since I got my chickens. They are a great resource,…read moreespecially since they are located in the Willow Glen area and close to San Jose, Santa Clara etc but their prices are reasonable and you can buy almost anything for your animals there. I mostly get bedding and food for my chickens and bird seed of which they have a large selection. During the spring, they sell chicks as well and you have to check their website for types and days that you can get them and you have to line up early. I saw harness and leashes for chickens on my last visit! The service tends to be hit or miss but mostly miss. The ladies at the counter don't necessarily want to answer any questions and have several times waved me to a section when I asked for an item so I gave up asking questions. You have to pick and pay for your items and then provide the receipt to one of the helpers outside who will load the items in your vehicle. I have seen people pulling trailer loaded high with bales of hay. I haven't seen them selling eggs but they have chicken towards the back of the yard. If you pay with anything other than cash, even debit card, they will charge either a fixed amount or a flat fee, which tends to be a bit higher than most places. Take cash. Plenty of parking and it's in a quiet neighborhood. One of the last places left that sells affordable animal feed at a reasonable price!

Came back for another visit, this time introducing my neighbor and brought them along to buy chicks…read moreas it's their first time and want to start a flock. The chicks are locked behind a closed door this time around and no one can enter except the staff. The staffs told us that we are NOT ALLOWED to see the chicks prior to purchasing. You have to choose the chick breed you want and they just give it to you. Their reasoning is that because the chicks will change and look different growing up. That is extremely weird and unheard of, if you are buying a pet, you would want to see it before purchasing. This usually curtails certain issues; there is an unhealthy chick, illness is visibly noticeable, the holding pen is extremely dirty or possible bait and switch scheme (you buy a certain breed and you're given another one). Everyone knows that their chicks will grow up looking differently, it's common knowledge that chicks and full grown hens look different.

Had been referred by some folks I see at the Morgan Hill Dog Park. Great experience - Becky showed me her whole place and set-up - she is both sole owner and sole groomer - and had super patience dealing with one very tired cat that ended up needing a total shave and bath as well as the less grumpy and happier dog kid. Becky shared she likes to minimize stress on all furry clients and tries to coordinate so that one is leaving with its parent as another comes in vs. having furry kids waiting in kennels. She does cats which is cool and has some larger long-haired cats at home of her own. Calling again today to book our next appointment :-)

[see the pictures in my profile] I have been genuinely impressed with the non-profit rescue, which saves dogs from shelters as well as assists owners to place their dogs. They give good descriptions of the dogs (medical, training, interactions with other animals and humans, and general character) as well as adoption expectations (requirements, timing, licensing, and fees). They make an effort to ensure the dogs go to good homes by thoroughly screening their applicants. The two women I have interacted with have been very helpful and friendly. My stepmom, an avid dog lover, who has adopted two dogs from here as well, has also always had good interactions and contributes regularly to help keep the organization going. It has actually taken me two years to take the plunge. Since filling out my application in May 2007, I have occasionally looked at the website, visited various foster sites, and even visited the pound. However, with the recent departure of my roommate's dog, I decided I would actively look again. It just happened that two weeks ago a new dog was posted who seemed to have the characteristics I was looking for. After a trip to Fremont to meet her, my new baby came home! The funniest thing being her original name was "Cracklin' Rose." [Rosie and the Border Collie Rescue of Northern California are definitely worthy of my 200th review!]

Then the vet did a brief check up and I was out the door. I was so impressed at how friendly and efficient everyone was!
