We followed our favorite groomer, Kristina, to Canine Concepts when she began working there earlier this year and couldn't be happier. Kristina has always been amazing, providing great service and care for our girl, Isla. Isla suffers from a little separation anxiety and gets nervous being away from her family. Kristina is one of those very rare people that Isla is comfortable with and has been seen by her every two weeks for the last 5 years, so it was only natural that we follow her when she changed employers. After her first visit to see Kristina at Canine Concepts, there was a noticeable difference in how Isla responded to her surroundings. Isla is more relaxed and comfortable now. It helps tremendously that the kennels are in the same area she is groomed, allowing her to see Kristina even when she isn't working directly with her at the moment. Kristina herself, is amazing! The quality of her work is unmatched. On the rare occasion she wasn't available previously, no one matched her skill level (at the old grooming service, I can't speak of anyone else at CC yet). She is very knowledgeable and was able to make recommendations for care when Isla was experiencing some itchy red skin due to her allergies. I can't say enough good things about her. Isla's warm response whenever she hears Kristina's voice is testimony of her character. CC's staff is also wonderful. They are warm and friendly, not to mention understanding and accommodating when I have needed to make changes to appointment schedules (sometimes last minute). One other cool thing that I am just over the moon in love with is that they offer hair dye services for the dogs. I wish I could remember the ladies name, but she specializes in doggy hair dye and does a fabulous job. Isla is currently sporting a tasteful purple/pink ombré on her fluffy white ears. 8/24/23 Brought my dog in for 11 a.m. appointment, I was there at 11:05 a.m. They did not start to groom my dog (when I called to see what was up) until 4:30 p.m. I questioned why they were starting grooming at 4:30, why was my dog there for five and 1/2 hours, and why they were just starting to groom. They did not call for pick up until 5:30 pm. Now my dog had been there for 6 and a half hours. WHY?? They gave no reason but did give a lot of gaslighting and blaming me for the length of time. Are you kidding? Oh, and I was told it was because I was 5 minutes late. Wow. Do not bring your fur baby here they spend 7 hours in a cage and that will be your fault. read more

I took my puppy Bella here for the first time to use the self washing station and it was wonderful! They made sure I had towels and knew how to use everything. They were kind and welcoming to me and my puppy. The owner's daughter was one of those people where you meet them and think "wow, this person is such a kind soul". All the women that work there truly care about the fur kids. They sell raw food for dogs and specialty treats so I picked up some treats for my girl. The bathing stations have special nozzles that include shampoo of choice that comes through the nozzle with with water and then a rinse function. There are dryers and towels. There's ear cleaner. There's also an apron so I left dry. I will be back every 2 weeks. A special treat was seeing a large catio with the owners hairless cats there. So cute! read more

I called ahead to make sure they could do a nail trim on my 2 dogs. They told me yes, just come before 3pm. I got a sitter for my kids since it's difficult to handle 2 kids and 2 dogs. The shop is kept clean and is set up well. Air conditioned for everyone's comfort , dog and person. I get the tip of my dogs' dyed Orange to support the SF Giants. They also get a seasonal scarf each time. My dogs have short hair so don't need clipping. At Canine Concepts their clipping skills are on par with the professional dog handlers I used to work for. read more

I brought my dachshund in for a nail trim last week. My dog does not like getting his nails trimmed and can be quite the handful. I told the groomer this right away and she said it would be fine. A couple minutes after they take him to the back, I hear my dog yelping (he usually does this), followed by the groomer yelling "get over here you little sh**!!!" SO unprofessional. I have two Labrador Retriever. The yellow is calm and the chocolate is hyper and a little crazy. I was concerned taking the chocolate because she does not listen, has allergies and is difficult to deal with and restrain. Both dogs needed a bath really bad but the Chocolate lab was was worse. The staff were all very friendly and professional. The dogs inside all looked right at home, and you can tell that they are well loved and cared for there. I have moved recently back to the area and have brought my cocker spaniel to Canine Concepts a few times now. This last time I brought her in she was pretty badly matted (totally my fault I know). I explained however that of course I would really prefer for her not to be shaved down (she has a sausage body on little toothpick legs!) but I realized she probably would need to be shaved. Natalie said they would do their best to brush her out but agreed she would probably needed to be shaved and that we should just start over but they would try brushing her first. They called me during her service to let me know that they had tried brushing her out but it wasn't going to work so I gave the okay to shave her. They did a good job at keeping her fur a bit longer so she didn't look silly. However, after I got her home I noticed that on both sides of her belly she had been cut with the clippers. I realize she had been matted pretty badly down there but there is no reason she should have been cut in the process of shaving her. I do realize that sometimes dogs move while they are being clipped but because this was on both sides of her belly I realized they were just being careless and going too fast. I called to let them know about my disappointment that my dog was hurt during this process. Natalie apologized but said the mats were so bad and they had to get underneath the mats in order to get rid of them. I understood that but they could have easily avoided clipping the dog's skin by using scissors in areas where the mats were too close to the skin. I gave them 2 stars and not zero because they are all very nice and I have previously had good service with them. However, I think that they are too busy (keeping a dog for five hours is indicative that they have too many dogs at once) and this is proved again by the cuts on my dog. I also think that $60 is a bit pricy and was told that they had recently raised them. (I was paying that price in San Francisco for an amazing groomer who came to our home.) We will be looking for a new groomer read more

When we first moved down to Morgan Hill we had only one golden retriever and had never been to a non-Petco groomer. A few months later we adopted another pure bred who's breeder felt that we were the best fit for him. When we went to pick our new puppy up we noticed that all of her dogs had just got back from the groomers. We were amazed at how much better they looked than the cuts we would get from Petco. We asked her where she had all of her golden retriever's groomed and she said Canine Concepts. We were expecting an expensive grooming bill, but were pleasantly surprised when it came out to be LESS EXPENSIVE than Petco. That was 3 years ago, and we have never been let down by the team at Canine Concepts. Unlike going to the vet, our dogs LOVE going to the groomers. I took my chow/golden retriever here yesterday for her very first grooming session (she's about 9 years old). I was very nervous because just before 1 and a half years ago she's been raised inside the house her whole life so she tends to be very shy around people. When I dropped her off she had flaky stuff all over her coat because of her extremely dry skin. 3-1/2 hours later she came out smelling wonderful, happy, and looking even more adorable with her new scarf. Natalie and her staff were very attentive and friendly. She even gave me a whole bunch of tips as to how to keep her coat from looking dull, what kind of food to give and not to give her. Overall it was just a very good experience. It cost $68 for shampooing, conditioning, feet stomach anal trimming, and ear cleaning. It was worth every penny. (From what I heard it would have cost $55 at Petco and if you want conditioning and oatmeal shampoo that's another $17. So even though Canine Concepts has just raised their price since Feb 1, 2011 it was still cheaper). I would definitely recommend this place to any first-timers or people looking to switch, and absolutely going to book another appointment next month. read more

I started taking my first fury baby here 4 years ago.. We love Natalie!! We would do it all!! Including the hair color. Biscuit passed a few months ago but we rescued another furry baby shortly after Biscuit and we started to take her here too! I'm always making last minute appointments for Caydee and Natalie always manages to make time for her! My senior corgi crossed the Rainbow Bridge at 17 years. Zubi loved baths, but it was hard to leave a fragile old dog for hours with a groomer.
