When picking up an online order, I shouldn't have the bag the items myself. If the items are bigger, heavier, and require a cart, then I understand. But, just pointing at my items in the cabinet and saying "thats the order" and proceeding to let me, the CUSTOMER, grab my OWN items and bag them while the associate just stands there and I had to ask for a bag. Do better Petsmart. This has happened more than once, twice, even three times!! Doesn't persmart require you to be able to lift up to a certain weight? Because picking up a 15 pound bag of cat food for some people seems like way too much work. read more

No great customer service experience. I can see other customers feel the same way based on their reviews. Each time I walk into this Grooming salon there is always a problem checking in, always a delay and always disorganized. This is the only Petsmart where I live. When we attempted to drop off our dogs this time, they had us sit outside of the salon and completely forgot all about us...yet the Manager of the store seen us and never attempted to come over and help. We were on time for our appointment but they were not ready for us. When we attempted to check in they then said they could not take care of our dogs. The groomer with the purple hair was ABSOLUTELY rude "we can not take your dogs!!!!" When I attempted to discuss the situation with the Manager Claudia she came across as having no idea what to do to rectify the situation and came across as not confident in her position. She has no idea what she is doing and was very defensive about my concerns. She provided me with an excuse that she had a new employee in the grooming salon. I couldn't understand why they would leave a newly hired person in the salon by themselves. Poor employee!!! Good luck with your Manager. The groomer Megan was a bully stating that they did nothing wrong and to go ahead and bring our dogs to another groomer. Obviously, this particular location does not care about their customers or their pets. I would hate to know what they do to our pets when they are grooming them. Worst grooming salon ever. They canceled the first appointment due to an allergy shot. Rescheduled. Brought my small Maltipoo in. First appointment of the day. Manager wanted to shave the tail to look like a rat because of matting that took me literally 90 seconds to comb through when I got home. I told her no. Leave the tail alone. No trimming necessary. She said it's against their policy to leave any part ungroomed. I told her That's Not the case. We always ask Not to cut the tail or the ears. Leave them alone. I asked her to show me the policy in writing. She refused and said she was the manager and she was going to strip her tail. Took the dog back and said you just lost a customer. Her reply. I been taking my dog there for the past 3 years never had and issue always did a great job until now. I don't know if they have new people or whats the situation that they have. Showed up to my appointment only for them to reschedule because my dog needed a lot of time to get groomed that I guess they didn't have. Which I was fine with until I showed up to my appointment again. Mind you they called to see if I can show up earlier my guess they double booked or something. I said fine because my dog needs all the time he can get his definitely over due for a much needed grooming. I show up two hours earlier from my original appointment time my dog had like max 10 minutes that I left him mind you I wasn't out the store yet. When I get a called that my dog was moving too much and was trying to bite the clippers. My dog has never had any issues with any of the groomer there before. Never had a complain about his behavior or him being too difficult. Also she couldn't get him out of the kennel because she said he was trying to bite her so I had to go back there and get him. My dog has never shown his teeth much less try to bite anyone. His super gentle and friendly . I just feel like she didn't know how to handle him and didn't want to bother either trying. SO and I started coming here to grab our scorpion "Pinche" a small cricket since our commute took us through the Gilroy Crossing up Pacheco Pass Highway. From our several visits, my experience has been top-notch. We're welcomed once we enter the wizard-doors, and the cashiers are always personable and helpful. Not to mention this store is very well-stocked. We decided the other day to take a look at the cat adoptions section... bad idea... LOL We fell in love with two 6-yo cat sisters whose owner had died. They were required to be jointly adopted. On our most recent visit (11/30/2017), we finally took the plunge, and rescued the duo! A PetSmart associate walked me through the entire process with kindness and care. She even provided us a free bag of cat food + a huge coupon book that we took advantage of that night. Ka-ching! Jamocha and Fancy (of whom I've decided to re-name Punchy and Scrunch/Lunchy or Carrot and Picnic) are now our official fur babies. 5-stars for the customer service here, and for the two new additions to our family! read more

I had a dog grooming appointment this morning and left with my dog ungroomed. Not only was he 10 minutes late, I had to wait another 5 minutes for him to get clocked in, turn in the computer and then go speak to the manager. When he came back, I was told he couldn't take my dog because the groomer wasn't in today. No appologies, just I can schedule you for a later day this week when they're in. I told him no and left. They new ahead of time the groomer wasn't coming in, no call the day before to see if I can reschedule. Nothing, extremely disappointed in the customer service. Not only will I not be going back there for grooming, I will be taking my dog needs else where. read more

(Read EVERYONE'S POST). There are so many verified 1 star reviews of people's pets getting abused and even killed. One Yelp accused this location of murdering his pet (yes, he used that word). PetSmart needs to hire Managers that actually want to help guests and actually care for the animals / pets. I strongly dislike the way Elizabeth spoke to me. I was hoping she was just tired or having a bad day, but the other negative reviews, the review just before mine - indicates a broader management and culture problem at this location. Cydney - Pandemic has changed a lot of things for all of us and some stores don't even operate in the same fashion as they did prior to Covid-19. Petco in Morgan Hill for one is still Petco. The structure of Petsmart in Gilroy is a bit annoying. You call at one time and you can get a response "there's no one who can answer a stock question at this time", you can show up in person and though the store has three to four times as many visible employees than Petco, you can get a response "sorry but at this time we can only sell essential products!"??? Then there's Cydney. Someone who desires to help customers. Someone who decides that whether corporate management or this branch management teams structures to turn people away as opposed to take care of them, she decides to take care of them. She doesn't make excuses for the highly unusual conditions but she explains. She is knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. I learned more from her in the ten minutes that I was in her presence than in ten years of attending pet stores. Though I am not happy with how Petsmart has evolved in their business practices, I am happy that Cydney is willing and able to provide the utmost in customer service. read more

Purchased a bath and brush for my dog. I normally go to a different location but recently moved. My dog came back with what looks like a quick rinse and half done blow dry. His nails were not trimmed and I highly doubt they've done anything else that comes with the package. BUT WHAT REALLY DID THE ZERO STARS IF I COULD IS MY DOG CAME BACK WITH WOUNDS ON THE BACK OF HIS HEAD!!! I was petting him and was wondering why there are bumps everywhere (they were definitely not there before visiting this location). So I started brushing his fur back and saw all these fresh scabs. Finding one after another and it looks like they used a prong collar or some sort cause there is a ring of punctures from ear to ear behind the head. When I got him back, he was really low energy and sleepy. We thought they drugged him but we think he was mistreated. My dog is a chihuahua mix, under 10 lbs. He's had multiple baths at other petsmarts but let me say I'll never visit one again. read more

After I cancelled I came to check out the reviews on Yelp and I'm so glad I did! Unbelievable! Found another place where they welcomed my shy dog and made me feel comfortable about doing their best to get him to warm up to them. Do not order home delivery! Door Dash did not deliver items even though they said they did. Both Parties said it was the other party's responsibility to provide a refund. Then both parties refused to refund tip. If Pet Smart is going to contract with Door Dash and recommend them on their web site they need to stand behind that service. I am sick to my stomach. I had my Maltipoo groomed In Sept...then again today. She had a small matt at the base of one ear. The groomer said she may need to shave it...I said no try and brush it out. When I picked her up just now she had NO HAIR ON EITHER EAR. It is so ugly and she looks terrible...no ears. I want to cry. I should have been called and told if they were going to shave her ears completly...It looks like little flaps of pink skin hanging on both sides of her face.....Atrocious and hideous! I looked up how long to grow back ears and google said 5 MONTHS. I was going to take Christmas Pictures tomorrow as my family is flying in from out of town.....Now I can't. I HATE THE CUT! For the grooming facility- took my puppy for a puppy bath and brush + some add ons. I specifically requested that they address the matting on the back of his legs (he came to me like that and imo, as far as matting goes, it is pretty minor). He came back to me clean and bathed, but the mats are still there. Their booking website said they would clean ears too and it doesn't appear as if that was done either. I've never had a dog that needed to be groomed before, so lesson learned. I'll pay more and go to a dedicated groomer next time. The rest of the store is nice and clean, but while I was looking around while waiting to pick up my dog, there appeared to be a lot of dead fish. Not a good look. read more

The grooming staff here are terrible! They are conniving liars and I feel like my dog was mistreated. My dog loves to be groomed because we've been grooming him since he was 8 weeks old. I only take him in for a groom when his hair gets too long. I haven't mastered the cutting part, although he has his own grooming table, special conditioning shampoo's and detangling conditioners and grooming kits.. The 2nd time I took him in to be groomed he refused to go in. One of the girls proceeded to drag him in by the ROPE they had slung around his NECK with his feet not moving. I intervened and grappled the ROPE they had around his NECK. I loosened the rope, took it off of him and picked him up. The girl then said it would take two hours to groom my dog in an express visit that I pay extra for, not to mention it took three weeks to wait for the visit. I left with my dog to talk to one of the managers their who used to work in grooming. He said it should only take an hour for an express appointment and that I should not have to have waited 3 weeks for an express appointment. After he went in to talk to the grooming staff, instead of getting them to groom my dog in a timely manner, ( which I had already decided I wouldn't do) he wanted to rebook me for an new appointment. I told him no thank you and that I wouldn't be back. If you ask me the grooming team doesn't care about the dogs at all. I believe they were lying about the grooming time and were going to put my dog in the kennel although I was paying for him to go straight through the grooming process without being put aside. It's people like these groomers that can throw a person off course due to mistreatment of animals. I won't be back there for the sake of my dog's safety. By the way my dog is a little 15 pound Bichon Frise' I could groom him myself cut and all watching YouTube tutorials in two hours. read more

This was a very mixed bag experience. We had great assistance from a blue haired young woman working the aisles who guided us to a cat food that my rather finicky Siamese would like. However, at the register, we had a very bad experience. I initially entered the line for the register being run by a husky woman, but she waved me off without speaking to me. It appeared she was assisting a woman with some kind of return or refund, so I went to the other register where a slow speaking man with heavy stubble was working with a family that was reconsidering their purchases, then returning items they just bought, exchanging for something else, and then reconsidering another item and repeating this routine. This went on for over ten minutes while the line expanded as a third employee, a short woman with long blonde hair, watched, but did not assist. When the woman's register was open, she took customers halfway back in the line behind us, leaving those of us who had been there the longest waiting for the man to finish his return, exchange, return, exchange transition with the large family. When I finally did get to the clerk, he informed me that I could not purchase the items unless I provided my email and cell phone number. I said I did not want any spam, texts and robocalls and refused to provide my information. The customer behind me, who was also quite frustrated, asked if she could just use hers so we could all get out of the store. The man said that this was not possible, cards had to match individual names and there was a quota of new customers he needed to meet. I had enough and left my merchandise on the counter. If this is how PetSmart is running their stores these days then I don't see any reason for me to shop at PetSmart in any location again. read more

I tried out the grooming salon at PetSmart on my 3 dogs. Not happy! They gave me a price for my Shitzu and then tried to upcharge me by adding extra stuff for him without calling to ask me. My Terrior had an appointment and came out with a "Trim" not a "Cut"!??? She looks like crap! Tell your employees to be consistent when speaking to new customers! Make sure your new customers know what the difference is between the two! I sure as hell got a rude awakening and $46.00 later for a glorified bath! Petsmart as everyone knows is a great place to find things your pet might need. My husband and I have an American bully (×3 DAX) and he's been needing his nails done for a while. So we called petsmart around 8:15pm and asked what are the times I can make an appointment to bring him in for a nail trim. The girl said they welcome walk ins if it's a nail trim. Cool because I was expecting to have to make an appointment for the following day but the girl said if I come before 8:30pm she could do them. Sweet! So we rushed over there as fast as we could and made it on time ;-) As soon as we walk in the store was soo big and very clean. We were welcomed in by employees and the store was filled with friendly people with their pets. Yay! We used to go to petco but it closed down here in gilroy. But that store was always dead. We noticed some training going on on the far right( when you walk in) with this beautiful doberman pinscher. BTW Blain Hyland no longer works as a trainer here :-( so just a heads up. In the back is the grooming area. They carry almost everything you can think of, except puppy potty grass and certain vitamins for dogs. For us the prices were high for dog collars too. We had a great experience with the groomer. Our bully (luchi ) was done in 5min! No joke! We were astonished. The work was done quickly and well! I inspected my puppy's paws and they nail buffing was done really excellent. So we received a receipt (to make our payment) that we take up to the counter in the front of the store. We past alot of doggy items on our way to the cashier. So I grabbed a dog harness and a tire with rope chew toy. They came out to almost $45. Ummmm no that was way too much. Shoot I went to Walmart and got a harness and the same exact tire for $18. I mean when it comes to things that our dog needs that's expensive, we will dish out some cash. But for things that I can get cheaper somewhere else, I'm going for it. For instance the pee pee pads are the cheapest to buy at 99c city. 5 for 99c! Great deal! We buy his food and shots at tractor supply so I think we'll only be coming here for grooming purposes. The prices are like a convenience store for pets. Easy to find everything you need but a little overpriced. I'm glad we met a trainer there but we're not sure she's right for us. She was very nice and had over ten years of dog training. That is very impressive. We might be coming back for some training who knows. Then I'll write another review. Lol read more

I'm a frequent Petsmart customer and while each one is suppose to be the same, this one really takes the cake with it's size and selection. For such a large store there are hardly people or fuzzy furry pets shopping or being toted around like the ones back in San Francisco. It also has a great selection of smaller pets and training area so you can peek in on the puppies with their trainer. I was overwhelmed by the aisles and aisles of kitty food/treats/treatments they offered since most pet stores are big on catering to dog lovers. I walked in with the mindset of buying just cat food and left with a wandering eye for collars, grass, pet carriers and laser optic toys. I have a feeling my animals are going to obtain better toys than me in the near future. Do they make Wii games for pets? read more

I took my dog to this place the other day and asked for a simple bath and trim along with nail grinding which was the total of $63. They had asked to shave a little more than what I asked for due to his matted hair. I didn't expect it to be this patchy, ugly and shitty job. The store was training cashiers so had a bit of a hang-up at checkout, but another clerk stepped in and took care of our purchase of a case of cat food. I took my Maltipoo to the grooming salon in gilroy, I've heard so many horror stores about PetSmarts grooming salon but; I had no choice due to my normal grooming salon being booked. I was in need of an emergency hair cut for my dog because we're going camping this weekend & I did not want her hair to be long. I am so happy with her hair cut Ashley E did a fantastic job did exactly what I wanted, took the time to sit there & explain what hair cut would be best since were going camping & asked what sent of perfume I would prefer her to put on my dog .I now found my new pet stylist I will continue to bring my Maltipoo to Ashley! This review is only for the grooming department. I scheduled my maltipoo for a grooming appointment on Sunday 12pm. She had just received her rabies shot Friday at 4pm and they denied services because we were exactly at the 48hr mark of when she received the shot. Which I understand because it's petsmart a policy. I also had booked an appointment for my 11month english bulldog and they also declined to bathe him because he had also received a Lepto shot. So We completely waisted our time and they denied service to both our pets. I don't understand how the Lepto shot also needs a 48 hr waiting period. But if I would have known this then I wouldn't have scheduled them soo early. read more

Our puppy just got his first ever haircut and groom today at PetSmart. We are VERY happy with the result and we look forward to our next appointment. We selected Meghan as our groomer because we had seen many positive reviews for her- and we are really happy we did! She's a super nice person, excellent communicator, fabulous stylist and she took excellent care of our puppy. She made me (nervous dog owner) and my dog feel very comfortable. His haircut looks adorable and is exactly what we wanted. She even made an awesome recommendation about a harness that might work well for our puppy. We will be back and at this point I would absolutely recommend Meghan if you have a furry friend in need of some beautifying! I have attached photos of before and after. His fur is a little uneven on his paw due to being shaved for an IV during his neuter several weeks agothis was not a product of his groom. Update: Sadly, just five weeks later, my opinion has changed drastically. We originally had booked a puppy trim (same service as last time) for Nov. 1. Our puppy was having a teething issue, so we opted to reschedule the appointment for the following week Nov. 8. When we rescheduled the employee on the phone was very kind, but instead of scheduling a puppy trim, I later noticed she scheduled a full bath and haircut for an adult dog. The difference in price between these two products is over $40.00. Our puppy is STILL a puppy and weighs only 16 pounds. He weighed 15.5 at our last appointment. I went online and cancelled the appointment for Nov. 8 and rescheduled for a puppy trim on Nov. 7. When we arrived at the grooming salon for our 1pm appointment on Nov. 7, Meghan was not present and the other groomers told me she went to lunch and that I needed to wait for her in order to drop our puppy off. When Meghan finally arrived at 1:07 (late for our appointment), she seemed to be in a bad mood, and clearly had scratches on her neck that I assume she received from an earlier client. When she opened up our account and saw the puppy trim she said she had to go ask someone about it. When she returned she said she needed to adjust what we were doing because our puppy was now over six months old(by just a couple days). Luckily I asked her how this "change" would affect the cost because a puppy trim is $17.99 and an "adult" trim is $50.00!!!!! All she does is bathe him, trim his eyes, paws, nails, and sanitary, and he's barely any bigger than his last appointment yet we were going to be charged almost triple what we expected. Her justification was that since he was bigger he would require more shampoo..... I don't think so! When we left our last appointment she clearly told us to book the same puppy trim for four weeks later, which was what we had done. I don't feel like she was going to tell me about the change in price when she adjusted the service in the computer. When I told her that I was not going to pay $50.00 for a puppy trim she said that was fine, and we left. As we walked out the door we heard her laughing at us with another groomer- and THIS- not the shady pricing- is why I will not go to a PetSmart grooming salon again. She definitely lost us as clients because of our experience today. We can easily go back to grooming our puppy on our own until we find a groomer that treats us nicely and has fair pricing. read more
