This is a wonderful Thai family-run restaurant, and the food is absolutely delicious. We ordered the summer rolls, Pad Thai, crying tiger salad, and pumpkin curry to share, along with sticky rice. Everything was excellent. You can choose your preferred level of spiciness, ranging from "American low" to "Thai hot." We ordered everything at the American low level. So all of our dishes were not very spicy, although the Pad Thai had a bit more heat. We truly enjoyed the meal and would love to come back and try other items on the menu. Have had a gift cert to there for a while and always missed when they were open, etc. Finally got to go. Cute place. Worker really nice...talked stories with baby even if both were speaking 2 different languages. Hubs did the ordering b/c honestly I was very hungover and didn't eat until later. Curry was tasty but very soupy. We like little thicker so it sticks to the rice. Crab rice tasty - little sweet. Ong Choy yummy. Beef tiger salad - baby loooved the meat. She ate most of it. Baby loved sticky rice...what's not to love about it. Except she ate it plain so I didn't have any later for the curry. Only thing I didn't care for is that everything had the same onion, carrot, celery slices in the dish. I don't care for cooked carrots so not my fave. But overall good food. Decent prices. Looking for a new Thai restaurant, we ventured into Kaimuki and visited To Thai For. It's a pleasant family run place and if you can't find parking on the street, there are several parking lots near by. We came around five so we were in time for some Happy Hour Specials. Happy Hour is from 3 - 5:30 Wednesday through Saturday and features several popular appetizers for $10 so we ordered some spring rolls, deep fried tofu, and thai iced tea. All were very good. For dinner we shared some pad thai with tofu (always a favorite), yellow chicken curry, and pumpkin curry. The pumpkin curry was beautiful as well as delicious - red currry with coconut milk, Japanese kaboocha, carrots, and basil. We also had some sticky rice as it goes so well with curry. One of the options is to pick your spice level and after reading that the dishes can run on the spicy level we did American low and medium which were plenty spicy for our palate. Ate here with my family the other day, and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Our waiters were Trey and Jasmine - they were so helpful and patient with us as we asked questions about the menu. We also came in on the later side and they kindly seated us with no fuss. This place was good! I ordered the "American mild" (much less spice than the "Thai mild") and it was still spicy to me I like very mild spice and this was about all I could handle! The curry was flavorful and the portion was big. I took half for lunch the next day. The cream cheese wontons were also really good!! Only choss 4 out of 5 stars for price, as my husband and I ended up paying $70 with tip for lunch, with no drinks besides waters. Just felt a little expensive to me. I love this restaurant. This is Thai food at its absolute best - healthy, fresh and unbelievably delicious. I walk away from huge meals here feeling somehow lighter than when I walked in - which is how Thai food should feel. Staff is so sweet and remembers my orders. Family run business and grandma does all the cooking. Her food is amazing and is the closest thing I've found to eating these dishes in Thailand. To Thai For...yup I've been walking/driving up and down Waialae and no I've never been here though keep hearing so much about it that I thought it was time to see what it's all about. As I enter honestly was delighted to see how nice and open the dining area along with the uniqueness of having shelves filled with various snacks for sale as well. Walking to the back of the restaurant is the bar though it seems like they use it as that more like a beverage station along with more snacks for sale. I ordered the Pad See Ew with Tofu at Medium spiciness that gave it just the right amount of kick loved how the veggies was cooked just right with the crunch yet not raw the noodles was so flavorful and delicious. We were greeted by the friendly lady at the back entry whom seem to be the owner and seated right away. There was already a fairly full dining room and another younger female server. After being given our menus, I noticed that the owner went back to the kitchen to likely help prepare food leaving the one server in the front. She paid special attention to the large table party and we had to wait quite a bit before I decided to flag down the owner again to take our order. The food still arrived in a reasonable time. The best dish ordered was the fish fillet which was very flavorful but other dishes such as the home style curry was so watery that it would have been more appropriate as a soup. Let me just say - their recommendations were clearly for the vegetarian dishes they love. My crab fried rice was kinda flavorless, and I think I got a shell or two in there. (But I guess that's one way you know it was real crab?!) Hubs said his pad thai was ok, but the bean sprouts were not crisp like it is at other places, so it lacked some texture and crunch. My first time dining here. Our management team had our luncheon here. One of the best Thai food ever. I had the Massaman curry with sea bass as my protein and American medium for my spice level. My curry dish was awesome! Our team shared appetizers, spring rolls, summer rolls, fried tofu, and papaya salad. The appetizers were just as awesome and the sauces that accompanied it were perfect. Surprisingly we were the only dine in lunch customers so we had the whole place to ourselves. We kinda liked having the place to ourselves as the atmosphere was what we created. Nothing was too spicy, and nothing was bland. Lots of "Americanized" Thai dishes, but that's not unexpected, even in Hawaii. Food was served at the right temperature, and vegetables were fresh. We went at the end of lunch and it wasn't busy, but nobody tried to rush us or hurry us out. Again, it's not fine dining, but it's really solid (American) Thai food. I truly believe this is the best Thai food on Oahu. Got takeout from here in the recommendation of my friends and it was so tasty. If you are doing takeout I could call ahead so you don't have to wait. They have a small parking lot behind their restaurant but if you're there for less than 15 minutes it's free. I love this little Waialae restaurant! Everything I've bought here has been delightful! I'm not someone who eats out a ton, but this is a go to. The best part? They can and will make almost anything in the menu gluten free! Win for us allergy folk. The pad Thai is something I've craved my whole pregnancy. It is delicious and filling. I come here every few weeks for a fix. I'm also a big fan of their curries. The other noodle dishes I've tried are yummmmmm! I can't speak to the service other than friendliness at pickup. My toddler makes eating out no fun. So, take out it is. They've always been quick, kind and friendly. You have to ask for napkins, cutlery, chopsticks. They're happy to provide. I'm glad they don't just hand it out though. I hate wasted plastic. Keep in mind their spice levels. If you order three stars (Thai low), it's not going to be American medium.
