This is my go to spot when I'm hungry and want something that won't make me feel groggy after. I always get a bowl, with my favorite currently being the shrimp ceviche. The portion is quite large and so filling. The ingredients are fresh and so flavorful. The menu is quite vast, I don't think I even read the whole thing. If eating there, there are 4 tables that seat 4 each indoor. There's also a large table outdoors. Even when very busy, it doesn't ever get very noisy. It's a very cozy space, but people do a very good at respecting noise in here. The food comes out quickly and you bus your own tables, but it adds to the quaint cafe feel. They even offer catering for a very reasonable price.
Cute and clean place that you can get takeout or eat there in kakaako. Can't go wrong with salmon bake! Love that they have cheese on it, very subtle but tasty. Wish they gave more rice but i do like that they didn't skimp out on salmon. Service was fast
This was my 2nd time here. But it had been maaany years. Honestly, we just needed an excuse to visit their neighbor Hana Tea. Came in with 2 friends for dinner. (2nd) First impression: all of the chairs were up before 6p, and they don't even close until 7p? Seemed kind of unwelcoming? The place smelled of bleach - which I find pretty unpleasant, but at least they clean, right? My build your own thing was just oookay. I had a half rice wrap, or "sushirito", as we can't help but call it. I chose the spicy ahi and was asked if I wanted the sauce inside or on the side - I said on the side, but immediately after she asked, the cashier was distracted by something and pretty sure she didn't hear my answer. I paid and asked for a printed receipt on the tablet - which I heard printing. The owner(?) took the ticket and put it on the line, so I figured maybe I'd get my receipt later - nope. My friends and I each ordered ONE THING, we didn't even get drinks since we were getting boba down the street, btw highly rec Hana Tea. And yet, something was not 100% right with each of our orders. There were 3 workers at the time, and each of them seemed to not know how to do something essential to our orders? Not super friendly. Orders took kind of awhile. Food was just ok - 1/2 rice is the way to go, I think. Ahi was prepared in front of us, though. But I tasted something smoky-ish? Which I wasn't expecting or into, but that's preference. Probably won't be back for awhile, if at all? I just think there's better options out there. Also, not sure who *does* validate in this building, but it's not Up Roll or Hana Tea. Street park or 20 min free in the lot. No validations given.

My friend just moved into the new Ililani condo across the street so I introduced him to it. To place your order you need to follow 4 steps by choosing 1) your protein (choices include ahi, salmon, shrimp, chicken, crab, and vegan) 2) bowl or roll 3) rice- white or brown, salad or quinoa 4) dressing. It took a while for us to decide since everything looked so good. We were both happy with our choices. I decided on the aburi miso salmon in a bowl with brown. With good Japanese style portioning, it was just right so I felt sated and full enough without feeling full. My friend got the lava chicken in a roll with rice and ended up saving his other half for later. Many of the drinks were also very tempting, but I decided on the limeade which was a delicious and refreshing drink full of lemon or was it lime ? chopped into tiny bits with soda water and mint. My friend got the beautiful purple Butterfly Arnold Palmer which not only looked good but also claimed to have anti aging, eyesight improving, hair growing, and antioxidant properties! I was surprised to learn that they also serve Motsunabe! Make a reservation if you're interested in that. Seating is limited with about 4-5 tables inside and an outside table that can seat about 6. Will definitely have to go back for more of this tasty and healthy food! My favorite combo!
Ordered lunch from uproll via ubereats I got the make your own bowl and my son got two kids rolls: avocado and chicken. We also got the mango sorbet drink and the purple lemonade. Bowl was fire. Customizable. It was $26 on the app which is pricey but I get it, there's an up charge for ubereats orders. My son's rolls were good. Skinny I wish the nori went all the way around the roll since it's for kids and it did end up falling apart but overall my son enjoyed it. Drinks: mango drink is amazing. I'd def get that again. Purple lemonade drink was absolutely disgusting. Tasted like watered down dimetapp with lemon pulp and sugar. Would not get again I love uproll and would come again just won't get the lemonade.
Rice burritos or Futomaki?!?! You can choose Roll or bowl White rice is not Sushi rice. One roll is enough for 2 of us but we ordered each of Roll and Bowl. So full!! You can eat in or takeout.
I am so happy that I came into this cafe. The workers were very nice and answered all my questions. The food was absolutely amazing. I got a Keiki crab roll that was phenomenal! It was only $5. I also got the guy shrimp bowl. My sister called from the mainland when I posted the picture to get a bette view of my food. She said next time I come visit you o bring me back a bowl. Will definitely come back again. Lots of options including vegan options.
We were on the east side of the island for the day and we were HUNGRY after a couple hours of kayaking at the nearby Lanikai beach. While I definitely wanted to try some authentic looking poke spots in Hawaii and this place didn't necessarily give that vibe, it still looked delicious nonetheless. It certainly did not disappoint! I went with the spicy ahi bowl and chose the ginger dressing with spicy mayo and the flavors were just excellent! The fish tasted super fresh and the other ingredients complemented the bowl so well. The ladies at the front were very friendly and delivered with some excellent quality poke! Highly recommend
Great poke spot! The staff is super friendly, and they have tons of toppings and sauces to choose from. I ordered the Ahi Lover with extra ahi and got salad instead of rice. Everything tasted fresh, and with the extra ahi, it was a great portion. The bowls are so colorful with all the toppings that come with it. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying a roll next time! They also have yummy looking drinks. I got my order to go but they have seating inside and out. read more
Up Roll has poke rolls, bowls, and fun drinks. I got the yuzu salmon roll and a yuzu jelly drink, both of which were okay but lacking in flavor. The yuzu salmon roll didn't taste anything like yuzu, but the fish was fresh and not fishy tasting. It came with a side sauce of choice, but I wish they would've added it inside because it was hard to add between bites and the roll was bland without it. The yuzu jelly drink also didn't taste much like yuzu, and I wish they had wider boba straws instead of just normal ones! There's a parking lot for the building with rates starting at $1.50, no complimentary grace period if you're just running in and out though. I am so happy that I came into this cafe. The workers were very nice and answered all my questions. The food was absolutely amazing. I got a Keiki crab roll that was phenomenal! It was only $5. After being intrigued by the concept of a sushi burrito, my friends and I visited Up Roll. We went 1.5 hours before closing but it looked like they were ready to head out for the day since all the chairs were stacked and lights were dimmed. Note that you can park in the public parking structure to the left of the store, but they do not validate. I wanted to order the Ahi Lover Avocado but when I asked the cashier if I could substitute the ginger marinade with spicy mayo, she was confused and proceeded to up charge me for spicy mayo. While making my party's orders, it was clear that the staff wasn't sure how to make the signature items as they were looking at the menu for the ingredients. Normally this wouldn't be an issue as maybe they were new, but it took a long time to make them. We went to another spot to eat our food when we noticed both of my friend's side orders of spicy mayo were missing. We were too far out to go back to the store but unfortunately both of my friends were charged for the spicy mayo. The sushi burrito itself was good. Not the best quality ahi but it was a fun and creative concept. Personally, I won't be returning as there are better sushi/poke spots in town that have better service and quality food. Wow! Was looking for a quick bite for my son before his workout and we stumbled across this sushi place. Son is a big fan of spicy tuna so this place was perfect. We ordered a spicy tuna burrito- rice spicy tuna-lettuce-green onion-daikon- cucumber and choice of sauce! We were surprised at the size of the burrito. Flavor was great too- my son also ordered a soda float- kind of an Italian cream but with ice cream- looked good and refreshing! He absolute enjoyed it! Both items for $20- kinda spendy, but the drink was 6$- Friendly service- as well. Would definitely come back Aloooooohaaaaaaa!!!! read more
Finally made it to Up Roll after years and years of trying to go. I would give it a 4.5 but since there's no such thing I will give it 5 stars. The hard part about this location is that there's a lot of construction going on right now in that area so it's a little hard to find parking around there. I ended up parking a little farther away. Besides that, I would give them 5 stars. The staff is super nice and friendly. If you haven't been there before they help you with ordering and can suggest which sauces go well with which bowls/rolls. And she even gave me an extra sauce to try. I got the sexy salmon roll and tried the lemon sauce plus the ginger. I preferred the ginger sauce the best. And the rolls are huge, so it's really filling! I also got their yuzu jelly drink. Everything is made to order and best eaten right away so the nori doesn't get super mushy. I enjoyed my experience and hope to be back again sometime soon! read more

Since we got a gift card from this place for Christmas, decided to check it out. Parking on a Saturday was not bad (maybe because construction signs were not clear) LoL. Nice staff and service. We went off of what they recommended to try. We had the ahi lover avocado roll, which was pretty refreshing with more veggies and fish than rice. Also went with the Guy Hagi shrimp bowl with a lot of great veggies and nicely seared shrimp. Overall experience and ambiance of the place was nice with a little indoor seating. read more

Sorry I was not invited to the SF event, so no Yelp. Also available are "Build your own up roll." Self service water. Atmosphere - Small locally owned business. Indoor and outdoor seating. I live right next to Up Roll Café and I must told my wife at least 20 times that "I'm gonna try that place". Not only I want to try the food, but I really want to bring my bear to take a picture with their big bear. So, finally, I went there on a Saturday afternoon, but they were closed, however, the people works there were nice enough to let me take a photo of the bears and I told him I will go back the next day to try the food. I look through all the Yelp photos and I know I wanted to try the avocado crab bowl. It was so good. They gave me two dressings, I am just not sure which is which, so I just put them all in my bowl and mix it up. For sure I will go back to try difference items in the near future. The staffs are very friendly and speak Japanese. They also have a few tables at the outside that t you can sit down and eat. Recommended. read more
I am currently on a plant-based journey, and this place was recommended by my cousin Ina, so it was on my list to try out this week. I ordered the create your own and went a but crazy adding all the vegetables I could have and boy was I glad!! I drove by after work, picked up my order, and could not get home fast enough to try it. This burrito looking rolled up Inari was huge! First bite and I was in love!! This Inari wrap was so ono, you could taste the freshness in the vegetables they used. I chose a sesame miso sauce as the dressing inside the wrap, and that was just icing on the cake! I look forward to eating here again! It's so worth it! read more
I just had the most refreshing summery salad! This hidden gem in Kaka'ako is a perfect spot to chill, the outdoor seating under the giant umbrella is so cool and relaxing it's just a prefect lunch getaway. It's basically a create your own ingredients and form it in a bowl or roll with white or brown rice or salad for an additional price either quinoa, 1/2 salad or 1/2 rice with of course a whole list of additional toppings as well. - You choose protein first *Chicken Aioli* - Roll or bowl *bowl* - all standard Chicken aioli toppings (Sweet corn, sprouts and cheese) - dressing... I chose Lemon - additional toppings *tofu, edamame and cucumbers Voila! My creation lol! Salad was delightful of course I created it it's not large for some that would anticipate...bowl was the same size as a poke bowl but it was just right for me. What brought it together was the lemon dressing omg it was amazing and my only complaint is that they give you only 1oz...that teeniest ramekin of it was not enough by far but I made it happen and it was the freshest simplistic taste I could have again. My friend kept telling me how good this place is but pandemic happened and I didn't go out that much. I finally tried it and regret that I didn't try here earlier. The Guy Hagi Shrimp was so good!! Tasty + Healthy = my type of food. It's located at Kaka'ako. Parking is bit hard. Street parking or if you are just picking up the parking garage is free for 15min. So it's better to order and then do a quick pick up. I had Guy Hagi Shrimp bowl ($12.50). You can choose white or brown rice and dressing type. It has spicy and tasty shrimp surrounded by vegetables (corn, edamame, onion, carrot, and lettuce) and they are on hot rice. I chose MIso Sesame Mayo for the dressing and it went well. It's hard to find tasty balanced meal like this so I'm happy. Rolls looked good too. They have ahi, salmon, or vegan roll and you can customize them (type of rice or salad or quinoa and choices of homemade dressings). I want to try the rolls too but I might order shrimp bow again. It was so good. There are variety of nice looking drinks. I had Butterfly Lemonade. It's blue at first (butterfly pea flower's color) and when I add the lemonade part (yellow), it turns purple. So pretty both before and after. Taste good too. Lemonade taste. The popular drinks were Plantation Ice Tea (Mango tea and it has pineapple sorbet in side!) and Arnold palmer (Mango tea with Lemon Sorbet). Sounds tasty but I chose the lower calorie drink. Inside was small but so cute. 3 tables so I think takeout is better. My eyes went everywhere because there were lots of cute little things like mini denim bags, jewelry, facial stuff, T-shirts and tasty looking snacks. My friend gave me snacks in a jar. "Akahai" is meringue cookie with macadamia nuts. It's the best meringue cookie I ever had. So hard to stop eating. Mixed nuts was just as good so if I gain weight I blame my friend who introduce me to this dangerous snack. read more
First things first, my coworkers think a sushi burrito is an abomination. After I tasted it, it's not my favorite way to eat sushi as it is very messy, but the flavors and freshness were very good. It is a bit pricey, but they have a gift card deal at Sam's club now where you can get $50 worth of gift cards for $37.50, so 25% off, which is not bad. They are not cheap, but there is a lot of stuffing inside each one of these. We tried the sexy salmon, vegan inari, Guy Hagi shrimp, California snow crab, and a shrimp sandwich (served like a banh mi, mainly got it since it had fried garlic and fried onion). They let you pick your sauce, kind of rice, and if you want it in a bowl or wrapped. The salmon was everyone's favorite since I got it with spicy mayo, but I got everything with brown rice which meant my GM only ate the sandwich. I love brown rice and was trying to be healthier... If you're in the mood to try something different and want a gigantic temaki, this is for you! If not, best to stick with Kozo. It is run by Japanese, and they also have a stamp card! I live in Kaka'ako and walk by this location all the time when I'm walking my pups. It's very popular during lunch time so my boyfriend and I decided to put in an order and give it a try! FOOD: We ordered the Ahi Lover Avocado ($14) & Sexy Salmon ($12.50). Unfortunately, they were out of Ahi and they told me this after I had paid so I just settled for Salmon -- it wasn't good :/ The sexy salmon was okay too. I see what they're going for but our taste buds didn't love it much. LOCATION: Walking distance from SALT, only street parking available, two tables available outside with big umbrellas. The location itself is really small, no indoor dining. SERVICE: Well, we ordered beforehand during lunch time and they kind of need help with their pickup system. They told me they were busy during lunch and hadn't seen my order so I ended up hanging out for about 20 minutes to wait for my order. read more

This review is a week late, sorry! But last week was so busy with Easter and all, but it was still quite memorable, which is a good thing. I loved the food here, and pricing is more than reasonable. I had an aioli chicken bowl with an assortment of toppings. My girlfriend had a shrimp roll, and I got their lime mint soda. It was all so good and refreshing, and deceptively filling. Considering immediately afterward, I had to leave to rehearse and then lead worship at church for the next 5 hours, and was not hungry afterward, is a pretty solid feat. The flavors were delicious, and fresh! I would absolutely recommend coming here, and look forward to my next visit! They have an assortment of proteins and toppings, so almost regardless of what you feel like eating, you should be able to find something to suit your taste! read more
PEARL HIGHLAND LOCATION WOW!! It was my first time here and I was a little overwhelmed with the menu but Taryn was such a great help!!! After hearing all of the menu options I ended up just asking her what her favorite item was. I went with what she recommended, which was the fresh catch ahi poke bowl with all of the veggies. It was so good!! I actually ended up getting really full because there were so many vegetables: pickled daikon, carrots, avocado, cucumbers etc.. and they used sushi/dashi shoyu to enhance the flavor (I dumped the entire container in my bowl!) I think regular kikkoman would be too strong. The second bowl I got was the salmon lemon on a salad bed. I got sprouts on top because I was feeling fancy. The salmon was so soft, and the lemon really came through!! You can tell all the fish was fresh. It was soft, melt in your mouth kine, and none of that sus raw fish flavor. I also ordered two drinks: butterfly lemonade and yuzu jelly. The butterfly lemonade was pretty fun! Turns from blue to purple when you add the yellow yuzu sauce. The yuzu does settle to the bottom so you gotta shake it up. Def an "Instagram" drink because of its color, but it was tasty. The Yuzu jelly was interesting too. It had yuzu jelly inside! Def a texture drink so if you don't like yuzu (kinda like a Japanese calamansi) or textured drinks, choose something else.
