My work colleague found this spot. It's a pop up every other Sunday that offers vegan and all plant based meat dishes. The menu offers four items - entree, salad, soup and dessert. They offer mocktail drinks that are delicious - we tried the Suika and Ajisai, I would recommend the Suika with kiwi and watermelon! The ambiance was very nice, it's within a furniture store that has other pop ups including art and jewelry. Himi the chef is so sweet and accommodating. The parking is a little tricky but there's a lot of parking spots around the Kaka'ako area including near the park and the parking structure next to longs

This plant-based, Japanese inspired popup restaurant is everything I've ever wanted, and I'm not even vegan. The business is run by Himi, who is the sweetest person in the entire world, and not to mention a culinary genius. Her vision of sustainable, local, plant-based eating comes to life a few Sundays each week inside of Fishcake Kaka'ako. I've come here for the past two months, so I got to try two different specials. March was the Honki tan tan noodles, probably my favorite one. It featured Himi's signature meatless "onomeat" which was super flavorful, atop chewy udon noodles with a creamy tan tan broth. The most amazing part was the completely vegan egg yolk which pops just like the real thing. This yolk would feature in April's special too in the form of the Honotama burger. Such a delicious, hearty meal and completely vegan. Aside from the main dishes, all of the sides and extras stand out on their own. I had a mind-blowingly delicious truffled potato salad, a soup that tasted like the essence of Japan, and a super creamy molasses latte that I now order every time I go. I am so in love with this small business! It seems to be growing in popularity, so make sure to follow and make reservations through Instagram when they are announced at the end of every month.

As it translate to English, indeed this pop-up eatery will show you the warmest welcome you could ever have from a Japanese culture here in Hawaii. I am indeed grateful for this experience - all thanks to my wifey. Himi the creator of Honobono is such an artist on her vegan food and pays respect on the tradition from her folks. It was my honor to experience and try the food she made with pure love. I came here without any idea what kind of food I'm gonna dig in. My wife never said anything most especially that it's vegan. She exactly knew that I'm gonna be out for a sec if she told me so. FF... she ordered ahead and we got (2) honobolognese regale, molasses caffe latte and amazake limon cello. All are good. Nothing wasted. The honobolognese was a surprise and I did enjoy led my meal. My personal favorite is the pão de queijo. It so chewy from the inside and has a nice slight crunch from the outside. All good and my belly is bouncing back with happiness. You need to get a spot on a certain day that they're going to pop-up. I suggest to message them on Instagram to inquire & if you ever get a spot you'd be blessed enough as they are full already and wifey said that she's lucky that there's a cancellation happened that's why she got the spot. Glad she did! Cha-ching! I went at Fishcake so hungry but leave the house with a full elated belly. PS; cash only or venmo See yah later...

Tucked behind Supercuts is an adorable little furniture shop, called Fishcake, which houses Honobono thrice a month. The creator of Honobono (Translating to the relaxed feeling you have when eating her delicious food) creates vegan (and often time gluten free) meals This month, she made a delicious mushroom-onomeat (her own secret recipe) bolognese with vegan cheese and parsley. If you gave this pasta to a meat eater, no way could they tell it was plant based! The sauce was full of umami and the garlicy oil covered the noodles beautifully. Along with the pasta dish came (vegan of course) garlic focaccia, which was warm and fluffy. To end the meal was the owner's sampler, consisting of Brazilian style cheese bread (pão de queijo), an ikura-quinoa sushi, and tiramisu. The owner was sweet enough to provide my young son an extra tiramisu since he was enjoying it so much!! The pão de queijo reminded me of the mochi bread balls you'd find at Brug and were soft, warm, and cheesy. The ikura-quinoa was refreshing after the pasta and had the delicious popping taste that real ikura would have! The star of the meal, the tiramisu, was creamy and rich with coffee flavor. The cookie bottom was stellar and worked deliciously with the "mascarpone" filling. All in all the meal was delicious and the owner was so gracious and kind, you can tell how much time and effort she places into every dish and how much every customer means to her. If you want to make a reservation at Honobono, make sure you check out her Instagram @honobonohawaii to get a seat for next month! If you aren't able to, I noticed people popping in to receive take out orders, however you may need to plan this in advance. Cash and venmo only, and be sure you tip! Delicious food and such a warm atmosphere.

Honobono is my go-to vegan place! Himi-san, the owner of Honobono, is so meticulous in her menu choices and the presentation of her dishes! She goes above and beyond. She usually has two people helping her out and they're just as kind as her! Her menu rotates often and she usually has pop-ups twice a month! I always try to get on the waitlist regardless of knowing what the menu is going to be, lol. That's just shows how much I love Himi-san's cooking! Her pop-up is currently located at fishcake on Kamani Street. There is construction in the area at the moment, but there's usually free street parking on Sundays. Just be aware you might have to look for a bit! Fishcake is a very aesthetic business so the ambiance during Honobono's pop-ups is also very refreshing! The photos I'm posting are from when she made plant-based tacos! My oh my, they were so tasty! Himi-san is a professional artist at making plant-based ingredients taste like meat products! One time, she made spam musubi and my partner and I were convinced she used real spam (she didn't, of course) because it tasted so similar to the real deal! All in all, I highly recommend adding yourself to Honobono's waitlist so you can try their amazing dishes yourself!

Honotama burger. SO GOOD. 10/10 recommend. ($15)

The BEST vegan food youll ever have. Cute ambiance in fishcake. Ive always found streetparking nearby. Amazing service. Good vibes. This is probably the 4th of 5th time i was blessed enough to snag a reservation at honobono. This time was probably the best since there was such a variety in the wahoo (wafu) bento! For $22, id call it an absolute steal! My favorites were the honomeatball and the vege maki. But everything in the bento was seasoned beautifully. The sauces were all perfectly balanced and viscous so that the food was all SO flavorful. And i love the little touches such as the sakura shaped daikon on the rice. The bento itself looks small but it is PACKED. To the drinks: she really puts so much effort to every part of the meal. The drinks never disappoint. We tried one of each. The hono matcha latte was so amazing with the brown sugar syrup. SO GOOD. But my fav was the sakura sparkle- so refreshing!! At $7 these drinks were the same price as starbucks, so no complaints at all! Onto the service, Himi-chan is such a lovely person and is so generous and kind. She really embodies the saying "good vibes". She is also so very appreciative of all her customers. You can taste so much love in the food and drink. This place was and always will be a must-try. You wont be disappointed if youre lucky enough to snag a reservation. Oh- theres also a waitlist you can join. Just reach out to her ig @honobonohawaii

Never fails! It's my mission to try everything she creates! Newest was her Halloween Bento! It did not disappoint! During spooky season a collab was featured.

    Vegan noodles!

The owner's original menu is lovely, including selected ingredients, time-consuming prep, a modern, clean place, and presentation. 100% vegan and filled my stomach. The smiles and hospitality of all the staff were also good. I look forward to eating a different menu each time.

    Honobolognese, salad, tiramisu.

Best vegan food ever! Himi is the sweetest and always so kind. Her food is yummy and fresh. I wish I could eat it more often.

Takoyaki, teriyaki hamburger, beet soup cold, fried eggplant with hummus on a Ritz cracker.

I've been to so many and each and every one is very unique where you can find either fashion runway stage, live street art, or even a dance night in the barn. I just love the vibe SALT and surrounding Our Kaka'ako brings with the vibrant art we're so blessed to have and this particular night (November 19th) there was actually much more shopping just perfect for the holidays and the party went further down to Ya-ya's. Tonight I was fortunate to have gone after work so I kept it short but found some awesome treats. Some straw toppers to add to my holiday gift giving and some cheesecake cups (OG, Strawberry and Cookie Butter) of course I got one of each to share...ate the Strawberry which of course omg was yummy!! Not too sweet as the Strawberries was just perfect as I tried to get an even scoop of it all in every bite. Walked further down and honestly wasn't in the mood to wait too long for anything found something that would just exactly work for me. Ya-Ya's Chophouse & Seafood and tonight they had two items - Steak Kebabs - Fat Fried Rice with TAB (aka Thick Ass Bacon lol!) I seriously wanted the fried rice but thought that the Steak Kebabs was more sensible for me personally and it came with two kebabs each fully loaded with steak, mushrooms, peppers and onions with a huge scoop of rice! So many options I really was considering including Henna from Henna Happens, Birria Tacos from Dolce Vita, Corn from Corn Onoz Hawaii but though there's always a next time yes!?! I remember pre-pandemic Yelp had a booth here and hoping as things return to normalcy that we'll see it back again one day (hint hint!) Absolutely love this Honolulu Night Market as it offers so many cultural coolness that you can't find anywhere else! Thank you!

This was more chipotle ish with maybe some sort of minced onion than the spicy garlic shrimp I had the past two times. Last week it tasted like it had fish sauce in it with spices and garlic, etc...tonight it literally tastes like bbq seasoning mixed with chipotle seasoning and chili onion. I'm not writing this review to bash this shrimp truck because I think they are very nice but more so as constructive criticism...to hopefully keep their recipe consistent. People want the flavor of Garlic shrimp without having to go to the north shore. These other seasonings just didn't cut it for me:(

Consider considered me and my friends were very satisfied when we left. The lemonade is the most refreshing drink ever. We knew we were only going to get one hotdog just to try it out. When we were ready to put in our order, I placed it in with the male worker. As I was saying my order to the worker, my boyfriend had walked away to the side to wait for me. When I finished putting in my order, the worker had asked me if it would have been just one or two hotdogs. I answered him by saying yes just one. Which he then responded by saying, "what, would he rather have a pho?" Clearly seeing my boyfriend was Asian, that was his question for us just getting one hotdog. He said it as if it was funny. I left it alone and waited for the order. I just don't get the point of him having to say that. He didn't even pronounce "pho" right either, he pronounced it as "foe." As for the hotdog itself, it is good. It is on the pricier side of $11 for one but for the price you get with the bun, polish sausage and toppings, it made it for it. Lower stars because of the overall impression.
