Cajun Salmon
Tshlene Rae I.

I don't usually write reviews, but this food truck deserves it. This is NOT your typical food truck! Every visit is a delight! The food's always fresh and full of flavor, and the people are super friendly. There's something for everyone in the family, and everything we've tried has been amazing. Definitely worth checking out! If you live in Oahu or happen to be visiting, do yourself a favor and check out The Rice Man!

I waited nearly 2 hours for this food truck to open up the door. Let me tell you it was most definitely worth the wait! The dish was so delicious that I've just ordered a second round.

Wow! This is the best pasta I've ever had! Get the Cajun salmon pasta! You won't be disappointed! This is a plate of pasta I won't forget! Next time I come to Oahu, I'm definitely getting this again! Creamy, savory, perfectly cooked!

Great Food and good selection. Service is great, and reasonable prices. Reliable ambiance from locals to tourists.

Calling your business a gourmet food truck and throwing frozen food into a microwave for 10 minutes is insane... I picked this truck because it was the only one without a line. Probably because the girl was glued to her phone and it took some effort to get her attention. I knew I was in trouble when she emptied the contents into something to heat it up and immediately sat back down and stared at her phone for 10 minutes. When she took the food out she put the fries in a bowl and I thought she might've been seasoning them with salt at the least. Nope. Just pepper. This was $16, what a joke!

The lobster tail from the shrimp and lobster Alfredo

I am writing this review on behalf of my husband. If he gets excited about food, it HAS to be amazing. We ate dinner one night in Honolulu and noticed food trucks across the street. After spending $28 on a piece of fish, rice, and two asparagus spears we strolled across the street to see if we might be interested in the food trucks for the next night. He noticed the $40 plate of shrimp and lobster Alfredo and teasingly said he would get that the next night. Well, the next night we did go back. Apparently he was not teasing. He did get it. Was there a wait for her to make the alfredo from scratch for his dinner? Yes. Was it worth the wait? ABSOLUTELY! He said it was hands down, the best meal he had eaten on Oahu. And he had leftovers. That in itself speaks volumes. It's lots of food, and well worth $40! This is easily a shareable plate, but you won't want to. There have only been two times that I can remember him saying "even if you ate this, I would not want to share". (I don't do dairy or seafood.) That's when I know it's amazing, he usually loves to share! Keep in mind that her food is made fresh and with love. If you don't have the time to wait for her to make your dinner, go back when you do have the time. You won't regret it! She is as sweet as her food is good.

Food was sooo good Always love a little place with cluster of food trucks So fun for

Cubano sandwich w/ fries $15.50.

I checked out the Night Market at Pearl Country Club, which is held the last Wednesday of every month from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Riceman had their truck there, and I tried the Cubano sandwich for $15.50. Most of the entrees from the other vendors were at least $20, so this was one of the cheaper offerings. The person that took my order was very friendly. She told me it would take about 15 minutes for my sandwich to be ready, but I think I only waited 5 before my name was called. Their beverages included soda but no bottled water, so I got one from a neighboring truck. The sandwich was hot, and I love the fact that their fries were krinkle kut. No ketchup was provided for the fries, and I forgot to ask for some so that's on me. The sandwich was good, but I've had better. I definitely would recommend Riceman to other Market goers.

We ordered a garlic shrimp plate from this spot and we were debating on getting the shrimp fettuccine pasta. The rice was tasty with the garlic and butter. But we felt a little skimped on the shrimp. The shrimp was fairly tasty but very tiny. We paid almost $20 for the plate and expected a little more food. This spot is located in an area with a group of food trucks. We are still interested in the shrimp pasta but worried that we're going to get skimped.

Stopped by this little area of food trucks after walking Waikiki beach all day & decided to try this 1 out (mainly because of the yelp reviews). I ordered the salmon plate , it was delicious & tasted very fresh . The only thing was there wasn't any hot sauce. I think it would have made it perfect if there was some chili paste but overall...loved it!!

Grilled Chicken Alfredo, Fish & Chips, Garlic Shrimp

I haven't had a thing on their menu that isn't FANTASTIC! I've had the Grilled Chicken Alfredo and must say... some of the best Alfredo I've ever had! Chicken was great! The fish and chips is fantastic too! Must try this food truck if you're in the area! I'll go back daily on my vacation!

We put our names on the list and there were a handful of parties before us. Fortunately, we only waited about 20 minutes to get seated on a Saturday. The place is like a spacious diner with a bar counter, booths and lots of tables. Look for the beautiful, long bench table that's carved from a tree. Our server, Jason, greeted us with a warm smile and took our drink and food orders. We got a few items that we don't usually see at Hawaiian restaurants back home. Hawaiian Moco: opted for the lau lau as suggested with lomi salmon and macaroni salad. For $24.99, it was huge, succulent, flavorful and worth the price point! Smoked Moco: the Kiawe-smoked meat was tender, sautéed with bell peppers and onions and topped with a yummy smoked aioli and local egg. The mini for $16.99 was the perfect portion for me. Fish Tacos: the fish was fresh, cooked perfectly on taro tortillas with chili aioli, avocado mousse, shredded lettuce and lomi salmon. The fries were thick and crispy too. Squid Lū'au Combo: with lomi salmon and poi, sweet potato and haupia (a coconut dessert) the squid was cooked in a starchy broth. It was like nothing I've had before. Not too salty but not strong in flavor either. This was my friend's choice and she loves it. We enjoyed everything we had and were so stuffed! They validate parking for the structure.

The food however, was disappointing. I had the lau lau combo. The lau lau was very dry. The leaves were dry, the pork was dry. There was not even a little fat in it. There were two of us that ordered it and same for both of us. My mom ordered the ribs, sherated it was tough and chewy. The ones that ordered the squid Lia were quite satisfied. I should've ordered the squid Lia combo instead. Not sure if I'd be back here though. But in all fairness, service was great!

Of course when she is back to visit every year, she still request to stop at Rainbow! Her favorites is the breakfast plates, mixed plate especially BBQ beef and boneless chicken with gravy & for me I LOVE the boneless chicken, gravy all over but I need mines on the side along with the mac salad and a slushie float. I used to work at the district office and we were housed at Hawaii School for Deaf & Blind, so close to Rainbow, when I would visit once a month, a treat to myself, such comfort food! I sure miss those Rainbow Drive-In days with my daughter and for my lunch break! Lets talk about the breakfast fried rice special, lately I've been stopping here every weekend to pick up a plate of fried rice ( available til sold out) & from experience-they do sell out, the fried rice plate is only $9.95. This is the best fried rice ever, my opinion and always enough for me and hubby! The fried rice comes Portuguese sausage, chopped veggies ( celery & onions) and flavored nicely with choice of 2 eggs that covers the rice completely. I always get soft scrambled. I love the finishing touches of the green onions. yums! The rice is perfect hits every time & rice is not watery. Chef's kiss to the staff who made this fried rice. The line and parking lot can get crazy but the staff works hard to get the line moving fast, * there's a separate window for phone and on-line orders. I am so glad I live close by to this Gem. My go to for breakfast and plate lunches!! I think it is time for a boneless chicken plate lunch fix. I like that some of the old specials are now permanently on the menu (even though they still sell out). But the quality needs to remain. I always order a mix plate and egg salad sandwich. Even if I order 10 plates, those 2 items will always be in my order. So I can confidently say that I'm sad that they are not the same as before. My recent mix plate (with gravy for nearly $17) had just one tiny fish and the chicken was pink inside! Also needs little more gravy. The egg salad sandwich (for nearly $7) had dry and thick bread. I admit, most times the bread is dry and I always question why I keep ordering it. I always wonder if I'm the only one to order since it seems like the bread dries out before being used. But now it seems like the bread is homemade and handcut (different thickness). On the plus side, the egg salad was tastier than I remember! We also ordered tater tots and chili, which were both great! Did the parking stalls get more narrow? Just kidding, I know they were always rather small.

From the street front, its kind of hard to tell where the restaurant is. I didn't notice the sign until standing literally right in front of it. (on Beachwalk, makai of Hard Rock) When you enter, theres a sign to meet the host upstairs. We asked to sit on the patio because it was such a nice evening. At the time, there were lots of available table. But once the sun went down it became pretty lively in the main dining room. Pila was our sever, he was fantastic! Give him a raise! Between the 4 of us, we ordered 2 mains, the OG fried rice that you can never go without, and a salad because we are so well balanced. OMG SO MUCH FOOD! We did end up needing take out boxes for the rice and chicken. Honestly, I probably could have finished it off if i wasn't drinking, because it was DELCIOUS AF *drool*. Traditional Hawaiian comfort food, but not quite a standout for us…read more We originally planned to eat at Helena's Hawaiian Food, but it was closed for the July 4th week, so we ended up at Waiahole Poi Factory to try traditional Hawaiian dishes. We ordered the Kanaka Nui ("The Works"), which came with laulau, kalua pig, chicken long rice, squid luau, poi, lomi salmon, and haupia. It was a great way to sample a variety of local staples. The chicken long rice was comforting, and the squid luau had a rich, creamy coconut flavor. Unfortunately, the kalua pig was dry and overcooked, and the meal overall didn't leave a lasting impression. We also tried their famous desserts. The Sweet Lady of Waiahole, featuring warm house-made kulolo (dense taro, coconut pudding dessert) topped with haupia ice cream and Tahitian Sweet Lady with warm banana poʻe (Tahitian-style sweet mashed banana and coconut pudding) paired with haupia (coconut milk) ice cream. Both were interesting, but the desserts were just OK for me. They reminded me of a more muted, less sugary version of bananas foster. The haupia ice cream was the only good part of the dessert, though I wished the flavors had a little more punch. Service and cultural experience: Everyone was incredibly sweet and welcoming, with that lovely Hawaiian hospitality. What I especially appreciate is that Waiahole Poi Factory is preserving and sharing Hawaiian traditions rather than simply serving food. Their dedication to kalo (taro) and traditional poi-making, including steaming and hand-pounding taro, helps keep an important part of Hawaiian food culture alive. Fresh hand-pounded poi is traditionally made on Wednesdays and Sundays, around 10:30 AM, so it's worth checking ahead if you'd like to witness this tradition firsthand. One thing to consider is the location. The shop is a detour from popular tourist areas like Waikiki, so it's best visited while exploring Oahu's Windward Coast or driving toward the North Shore rather than making a separate trip just for lunch. Overall, I'm glad we tried it for the chance to sample traditional Hawaiian cuisine, but between the mixed food experience and the detour required, I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again. If you're already exploring the area, it's worth considering; otherwise, I'd prioritize it only if trying traditional Hawaiian dishes is high on your list.
