This is an affordable restaurant. We spent about $110 including tip on a meal for two. The bistro like menu selection is large and each dish was fresh and unique. This is no run of the mill restaurant selection. The young waitress was a bit inattentive, so hard to find, and did not try to upsell dessert and coffee so we did that ourselves. She also had no clue how to serve beer, so left out the glass. A much more experienced and very friendly older colleague corrected that swiftly though with a perfectly cooled glass. There is ample parking and it is just off exit 3 of I93, so easy to get at. The place is sort of a house converted into restaurant, with various levels and rooms. After driving by the Windham many times we decided to stop in tonight and have dinner. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer and it was rubbery as if it were previously frozen. I ordered the windham chicken which was great but pasta was tasteless. My fiancé ordered the baked scrod and had asked the waitress twice if it was definitely fresh she did yes. When he got his dinner the fish was dry and chewy totally gross. After having a couple of drinks appetizer and now 1 meal bill was $70. Will never come here again. If you are looking for consistency you are better off driving a little further to CJS. read more

First I will say the servers are great! I frequently stop at the Windham restaurant, I work nearby, and typically enjoy the experience. Food and drinks are good. Bill, Jessica, Nick and Patrick are delightful, very attentive, and make it a pleasant. However, I will Rethink stopping in on Thursday nights, the group that comes in after 9 pm, and TAKES over the room adjacent to the bar with the high top tables. They literally take over the entire room, they are Rude, Loud, Obnoxious, and force everyone else to leave. My friend and I had just order dinner, and received our drinks and needed to move the bar, we could not have a conversation, they were soooo loud. I would not recommend Thursday nights to anyone. I think management should suggest this group get a private room and pay for it given they make all your other guests leave. read more

So... Been by this place over and over... Decided on windham house... Initially welcomed in quickly... But then waited 10 minutes before drinks were offered, but our waiter was very nice AND ATTENTIVE the rest of our visit, his name was tim. 2 of the 3 the specials were crossed off and we arrived at 730pm. signage out front said mon-thurs 10.95 dinner specials...which i didn't see on the menu, but I also didn't ask about them:( Sat in room to the right of the door immediately when u walk in. Room was baren, chairs were too low, and felt awkward at the table height trying to eat and converse, i think the chairs are older which goes with the older building, but not super comfy or functional...i wouldn't usually write about seating, but it was uncomfortable:(. Bread basket was nice... I started turning my opinion around.... Ordered pollo cremoro and calabrese ... Both were plentiful and tasty! Overall not bad for suburbia... But no place I'd go running back to. Menu was very standardized.... Chicken fingers, fried raviolis, French onion soup, chic parm, chic marsala, .... Great restaurant - always a sure bet. We eat here regularly, and have never had a bad meal or experience. It's been owned and operated by the same family for years, and they have continued to improve the menu and building. The menu offers something for everyone, including steak, seafood, poultry, and some italian dishes. The wine list is good, not great. The price is reasonable. This restaurant has been here for a while and by chance we had our first visit early December 2018. It immediately went to our top three places for eats. On a busy New Year's Eve night they never missed a beat. Seated right away, waitress at the table straight away. Drinks well prepared, apps in ten minutes followed by the mains a short time later. The meals are some of the best, in my opinion, in the entire area. There were four of us and the meals were varied between fish and meat. Italian Boca, Grilled Salmon, Seafood Casserole, and Chicken on Angel hair pasta. Exceptional is the best word to describe the evening. Prices are very reasonable. $$ not cheap yet don't break the bank either. Plenty of parking easy to get to and find. Do not pass on this place, it's worth a try. read more

I went to the Windham Restaurant in a party of 6. If I could give them 3.5 stars I would, but if I have to go up or down, I have to go with a 3. Overall the food was pretty good, but what it was really lacking, was flavor. the Wedge Salad was good and I had hopes. For the main course I had the Filet Mignon wrapped in bacon. Really, it lacked flavor, which I find hard to believe. The potatoes didn't have much in the way of flavor as well. Others at the table commented on the lack of flavor as well. One person had lamb, the other had a salad with chicken, ... It maybe the best place in Windham for a sit down meal, but it would be better if they gave the food a bit more love. Skip it. I can't even rate the food because we waited over 30 minutes for just water and that never came. We sat on the roof deck where a bunch of other people were pissed off waiting. I'm sure the food is fine, but the waitress was beyond bad. Dropped bread at 7:00pm sharp. Not even a napkin at 7:31. Really?? I'd complain but she came back for two service two tables. Spoke to Lula the manager was very nice and offered a gift card. Told her we won't return and to take frequent trips upstairs to visit the other unhappy patrons. Crossed the road to McDonald's. Had another great meal there last night. Went with another couple and all meals were cooked perfectly and served in a timely manor considering that they were very busy or should i say packed! The windham restaurant was surprisingly good. I never thought this place was open because their parking lot was behind the restaurant. We've just moved up close to the area and never knew until we saw people inside. The food was good. Although I didn't pay for the meal I found there menu quite exotic. Living in Maryland exotic food tended to cost more. Although I can't remember the actual price for my meal I remember just having a good time. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good date night something nice but casual. And remember have fun. read more

After a crazy day in Boston we were on our way home to Hampstead and we were starving. Decided to try the Windham Restaurant, with no reservations on a busy Saturday night they were more than happy to accommodate my husband and I. We went to the upstairs dining room where it was so cozy with a nice fireplace and a fabulous waitress. I had Duck L'Orange and my husband had Linguine with Baby Clams ( he is still talking about it). Our meals were wonderful and such a value !! There menu is really interesting with seasonal additions such as Pumpkin and Maple influenced flavors. Nice wine list also. We will be going back very soon!! read more

I was in Windham for a meeting on a Thursday night and decided to try this place out for dinner before the meeting. First, it was hopping! The bar area seemed full and parking was close to full. Entered, was greeted pleasantly, got seated pretty quickly. Unfortunately I then realized my clock in my car was incorrect, or I had just read it wrong, because I only had about 25-30 minutes to eat before my meeting. When the waitress came over I explained this to her and gave her the option of me leaving rather than forcing us both to be miserable. She hedged a bit, asking what I was thinking of ordering, I was looking at one of their salads and "small plates", she said they could definitely get me in and out in time. I took her at her word and it all worked out! She got my order in, got my meal to me and finished up with the check all in amazingly quick turn around. But she didn't skimp on service, she checked in on me, made sure I had a drink, etc. Just overall great service. The food was ok. In fact the food is the reason they don't get 5 stars. I had the harvest salad which was tasty, but I would have liked the spinach to be picked over a little bit better, there were a couple of slimy pieces mixed in, that is a personal pet peeve. I also got the pumpkin tortellini, this was ok. Not something I would go back for again. The sauce was a little pasty but the pasta was well cooked and I loved the bed of spinach it was served on, it cut some of the heaviness of the sauce. Overall, I will go back again to try some of the other dishes to see if I can find something I like more and to reward a truly excellent service experience. read more

Our food was okay. It was nothing that we came home and were dying to go back. Not to say it was bad. However, for the money the environment could be nicer and the food could be better. It is a restaurant we didn't necessarily complain about but would probably never think of going back unless there was a coupon or something. Will not return. Lived in Windham for several years and decided to go for a little dinner with the husband. We order the shrimp and crab cakes for an appetizer, they were ok. Not a ton of flavor but we were very hungry. My husband ordered the seafood lovers fettuccine. The fettuccine was almost raw and the cream sauce was salty. The seafood was just ok. I ordered the baked scallops. The scallops were dry and gritty. The rice was so dry it was inedible and the season veggies were edible. I didn't care much for the dinning room. The peeling wallpaper and spider webs ( with live spiders at no extra charge) are not appealing to me. The worst part and it is hard to pin down because it was bad in ever aspect, was the terrible service. The waitress disappeared for extremely long periods of time. Not sure why, they were not very busy. My husband ordered Corona. She brought Corona light, no problem except it was 20 minutes between sightings of her. When we let her know, she told us they don't carry "regular Corona" only "Corona Extra". We explained that is regular corona. She said she couldn't be expected to know that because she is not 21. Ok, no problem can we get another beer? Ugh! Worst part she even charged him for wrong beer. We didn't complain about anything because it was 20 minutes between each sighting of our ghostly waitress. By the time she appeared after 20 minutes of staring at the inedible crappy entrees, we were just ready to get out of there. we've been going here frequently for years. during the past year they have made a number of renovations and most recently opened a new lounge area. now we go back and forth between sitting in the dining room and sitting in the lounge. the food has always been great and continues to be so. prices are very reasonable. a lot of people are surprised when i tell them about the prices as they think it is fancy and expensive. it is a lovely place and can be either fancy or casual. read more

One of the best meals taste and server wise in a very long time! It had been several years since we ate here due to a lack of excitement and pretty bland experience. This time, we had a coupon so tried it again. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was terrific and freshly made. Such a nice change from all the chain restaurants. We ordered the lobster casserole and steak and blue special. Our server was also terrific and very attentive. Quite a few years ago we were frequent visitors to the Windham Restaurant, but have watched it go downhill. We were there about 3 months ago, and left after waiting 45 minutes for a menu. We told the manager on the way out and she did not care. We recently decided to try it again because it had been good in the past. The chicken was overcooked and tasteless, and there was a long hair wrapped in our scallops in bacon. The waitress was very apologetic and took the item off the check. We commented to her that we had never been in a restaurant where the manager did not come over to address a problem. The manager then approached the table and blamed her waitress for not telling her. In the course of the conversation it became clear that she knew of our complaints all along and chose to avoid us. We will not be back. read more

I guess the other reviewers are either retired with lost of time to spare or have much slower time senses than normal folks. We've been going regularly since the place opened and while the food has always been OK (yes, usually just OK, only sometimes good), the service has always been slow. Tonight however took the cake. Almost an hour from when we ordered to when the entrees arrived. Not a word from our waiter the entire time. After finishing (and when did plates off to the table edge not mean that) another 30 minutes to get him back to wrap the leftovers. Gentle politely worded complaints to the owner were met with an exasperated sigh that "the kitchen has been backed up tonight" Well dear, the place was not crowded, and if under those conditions you're backed up" you just don't know how to run your business. The same thing happened to the Common Man down the road. Steadily deteriorating service and rising prices until it reaches a breaking point for even loyal regulars. Folks we know will only go to the Common Man for drinks, dinner is out of the question. Tonight we arrived at the Windham Restaurant at 6 and got out at 9. Sorry, Windham Restaurant, we shall not be returning. read more
