1st time here. I wanted seafood and my party did not. I got the fried seafood platter which was a decent size, fully belly clams, scallops, shrimp and haddock chunks with a side of fries or onion rings for an up charge. It was a typical fried dinner. Awesome. The Buffalo Mac & Cheese was a hit as well. Grabbed an order of Buffalo Wings too...smelled spicy but not so much. The local IPA on draft was delicious. Great specials on the board with live music. A smaller establishment so I'm not sure how busy it gets here so be forewarned. read more

I have eaten at Putnams since moving to Goffstown. They are the best for seafood IMO for sure. They do a nice prime rib as well. People complain about the prices but prices are up everywhere. Pizza places are way more and if you go to fancy restaurants their prices are super high too. I feel the price and value to be good read more

Seafood platter was disappointing for the price. Ordered it to go. Clams were over fried & dry; Haddock pcs were the size of a scallop & the one scallop on the plate was not a "sea" size. Fries were good. Not worth the cost. read more

PLEASE DON'T EAT HERE It's already hard to find a parking spot, and on most weeknights we don't have to make a reservation or wait for a table. If you eat here then you won't be able to stay away and it will be harder for me to park and a long wait for a table. So, please don't eat here. Last week I had whole belly fried clams, the appetizer portion. Portion size was equivalent to a dinner portion at some restaurants where they charge $39. This was $24 and they were perfect! My wife had Scallops Carbonara... Absolute genius! Bacon wrapped scallops, using pumpkin spiced bacon. Sweet fresh scallops and plenty of them. These are rested on top of pasta Alfredo. The delight here is the maple. Maple syrup is an expensive ingredient - $60/gallon - but Putnam's spares nothing to bring the best. The portion is huge, and you will need to take home at least half of it. We are eating the leftovers this Sunday morning. Reheated the scallops in the steamer and put the pasta in the microwave. Scallops are still perfectly sweet, the maple is sweet, and the cheese in the Alfredo sauce comes through. I was so overwhelmed by the genius of the maple Alfredo that I overlooked the cheese. This morning the cheese comes through better than in other Alfredo offerings at other places. You won't find this kind of food anywhere else no matter what you pay, or how fancy the venue. Service is great and faces are friendly. If you must go, then go - but don't tell your friends. It's just between us, OK? read more

CLEAN. CLEAN. CLEAN. Great food. Great service. Been going to this restaurant since 2001 (back when it was down RT13 and the present location). Have always had a great meal, priced fairly. My party was originally at 900 Degrees in Manchester, but we all walked out because of how GROSS and FILTHY the place was. Putnam's has always run a very tight ship and it shows by their long lasting successful business. LOVE IT!!!! read more

First visit 7p Sat Eve. Added name to list, the predicted 10-15 min turned into 30. We had time to decide on our meals while waiting and ordered as soon as we were seated. We ordered king prime rib and fried clam entrees. Both were good. Onion rings and Cole slaw also very good (why serve the Cole slaw in a plastic take out container?! Servers were very pleasant despite a busy night and traffic around the hostess station with customers waiting to be seated/in the way of service. Beer and wine only. read more

While I've enjoyed Putnams in the past, we recently were given what looked like 5 small fish "nuggets" with a lot of fries as the $16 fish & chips... When we brought this back to the restaurant, one waitress told us their portion sizes were usually larger while the hostess then said we had to give back what they had already given us (which they can't serve to other customers...) OR they would have to charge us for a whole new order... When the owner was brought over after we just asked for our money back, she mentioned that their food is "pre-portioned" and that it costs what it does for the amount we were given "because it's fish". Unfortunately, this entire experience ruined Putnams for us especially knowing the owner's response and we won't be back. read more

Excellent service and large portions. Putnams is an old school family restaurant. Service was prompt and timely. Accommodations were made to adjust a recipe for a member of the party. We moved to the area a few years ago, but this was our first visit. Looking forward to the next time. read more

The food in this place does not agree with me for some reason. I typically don't have issues in most restaurants. However, every time I eat at this place, I get nauseous, feeling and have to make a mad dash to you know where. Also, for some reason they believe they have become a high-end restaurant and charge ridiculous prices. Case in point...today's specials are a turkey and salami sandwich for $17. $18 for a quesadilla. Chopped sirloin, a.k.a. a hamburger served with mushroom gravy potato and vegetable $20. Are you kidding me $20 for a hamburger! I know that prices have gone up and especially so in restaurants. However, these prices are excessive. read more

Well this place on paper seemed like a great lunch spot now after trying it... never again. The "water view" is from the parking lot, the food is tasteless and way under seasoned. Even the French fries are subpar. Service was okay, waitress was friendly enough. We will not be back again. read more

Well... really craving a chicken sandwich. I tried to pick up my grilled chicken sub to take a bite and all of the chopped lettuce and tomatoes fell off. So... I'm stuck with chicken and bread only? There's no dressing or cheese on it. I'd say that this item should be removed from the menu if they don't improve it. read more

I've been passing by this place for quite some time and finally decided to stop in for a bite. The restaurant is very cute and inviting and I love the menu selection. I was really craving pasta this day and I decided to try out the scampi. That was probably the worst decision I made that day. It was the worst Shrimp scampi I've ever had to date, the noodles were over cooked, too much broth was left in the pasta and there was literally no flavor to this dish. Beautifully prepared but was only made for photos. This dish deserves 1 star but I don't want to take away form the entire experience because I enjoyed the space and the dish was pleasant to the eye. I'd recommend switching to angel hair pasta, using a better quality cheese or simply use a new recipe. read more

A cute family restaurant with a view of the Piscataquog River. Putnam's Waterview Restaurant serves a mostly American menu including subs, wraps, sandwiches, appetizers, soups, salads, pasta dishes, seafood (fried & baked), chicken, steak, prime rib (Fri & Sat), kids' menu, and desserts including Hershey's Ice Cream treats. Daily specials are posted. Beer and wine available. The dining room has table seating, wood trim walls, and framed artwork (Goffstown scenes) on the walls for sale. Each table has its own salt and pepper grinder. I popped in here for some lunch recently. From my table, I could see up the river and the new Goffstown Ace Hardware building nearby. I had the Haddock Sandwich ($6.95), which was pretty good, a large fried piece of haddock with lettuce & topped with white American cheese on a large doughy bun and served with good fries, cole slaw, tartar sauce & pickle. For dessert, I had the Warm Apple Pie with a scoop of French vanilla ice cream ($4.25), which was decent. The service here was friendly and good. NOTES: Putnam's Waterview Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner (Mon-Sat) and breakfast (Sundays only). Hershey's Ice Cream is available from the outdoor takeout window with picnic table seating nearby. For breakfast daily, head down the street to Sawyer's Main Street Breakfast (same ownership). read more

Great food, wonderful service! We stopped for dinner and loved the cozy ambiance of the dining room. the staff were amazing, very fast and very friendly. I had the special which was prime rib with garlic and shrimp, very reasonably priced, delicious, and perfectly cooked! My partner had the mixed grill and left nothing on the plate. I stopped in on a whim. I have driven by many times. Bustling place for sure. Seems a lot going on and was not even half full. Parking was good. On street and limited off street. I ordered the chicken alfredo flatbread which comes with a salad for $15.99. The blue cheese salad dressing was packed full of blue cheese chunks and the flat bread was cooked perfectly. Not 5 stars because there were too many people attending to customers but not a single person in control of a single table. I waited a bit for my waitress, 2 others had already been by. Then they took my fork with my salad and I did mot get another one until the hostess came by to check on me. I was half way through the meal. I saw my waitress to take my order and then deliver my bill, again it was mot busy. I will be back though read more

:Local joint. Locally owned. The prices seem somewhat fair. The wait staff? You need to be patient. Even when the restaurant is not busy. Quality of the food fits the prices up to a point. Any higher, it would not be worth it. At best, all the employees are nice. The place is maintained fairly well. Just don't expect too much. read more

We used to go here just for the haddock rubens. They were so so good. We went here yesterday and once again ordered the haddock rubens. Not so good anymore. The haddock looks like it came from a box of the gortons fisherman. No flaky batter like it used to be. Not as much coleslaw and the bread toasted way too much, almost burnt. The onion rings used to have a nice flaky batter as well. They were just right. Not anymore. I asked what had happened and I was told that they double battered the fish and onion rings. I don't believe that. I have had double battered fried food before. This was not the case. I am thinking a new Cook, maybe a cheaper way to make these. But to say the least, I was very disappointed. I have never had a bad meal here until yesterday. Very disappointed in the change. What else is being changed?? read more

My norm is the Bacon Cheese Burger. I have been campaigning they call it the Bacon Berger.. no traction yet... But... I will say my favorite thing to get there is the Buffalo Chicken Mac n Cheese. Had lunch here the other day with a friend & was reminded how good the food is! We both chose the comfort food special- Grilled Cheese & Tomato Florentine Soup. It was delicious & plentiful. Service was great. In nice weather, they have outdoor seating in the front of the restaurant. We parked in back lot and my friend commented that there is a great view of the river & wouldn't it be nice if there was seating on the River! read more

Went in for take out. Got something called Fish Stew. It was not edible. It was loaded with tomatoes and had no fish. And I clearly asked if there were fish pieces in it. I knew a stew is not thick and that's fine but tomatoes?? It was just awful. I also got 3 deserts. 2 chocolate cake and 1 carrot cake. The chocolate cake was stale. The carrot cake was just ok. I've purchased much better at the supermarket. The plus side is the staff. They are wonderful and friendly. Don't know if we will try but again. read more

If for some reasons your travel brings you here, immediately turn around and maybe drive a few more minutes to Mollys Tavern in New Boston or any place in Manchester. Putnams I'm sure used to be great but you'd have a better experience elsewhere. The protions to price ratio is one not seen since the Great Depression. I swear they would charge you $20 bucks for a slice of toast and another $5 for a spread of butter. Everday basic, frozen section seafood is priced to match Gordon Ramsey's NY kitchen. If you are coming from across the pond and would like some Fish and chips, Putnams will introduce you to Fried Fish nuggets for 16 bucks. You get a whopping 4 golf ball sized nuggies with exactly 13.5 fries. Best of all, if you complain, the young staff will roll their eyes, argue, lie and said they talked to thier boss, and ask you to pay again for a new batch...it happened and they know. Not sure if the staff is encourage to lie or trained, but it sure seems like it. Too sum it up, if you want to spend a fortune at a restaurant, leave hangry and then head to the grocery store so you can actually make yourself a meal - by all means, go to Putnams. If you would rather eat well for your dollar, and enjoy great customer service. Go to Mollys Tavern in New Boston, Stark House Tavern in Weare, or any place in Manchester or Concord. Best of luck hungry person. read more

I went here a few times back when I lived in New Hampshire. Food was really trashy the last time - especially the lobster. The owner's also a real piece of work, as are some of the employees. I would've rather eaten from that nice little diner across the street, or Apotheca. Go there instead. read more

This place was certainly worth the impromptu visit. We were looking for some easy going casual family dining that only New England could deliver. And right from the decorum, I could tell we were in good hands. Service was also quite accommodating considering we were, what....1 of 3 tables in there at the time(?). Nevertheless, the food ranged from decent to pretty damn good. With that, we'll get right into it. Caesar salad: Not a bad way to start a casual New England dinner. I only wish they had dressed the lettuce a bit more. Not to the point of rendering it into soggy spinach, mind you. Just....more than the splash of Caesar dressing that was there. 7 out of 10. Buffalo wings: Honestly, I was surprised by these wonders! This is gonna sound wicked biased, but very few places up here can come close to meeting or exceeding the buffalo wings wifey makes for us at home. These guys were seasoned well beyond just relying on the sauce alone. The bleu cheese was also a great compliment to the spicy goodness. 9 out of 10, would highly recommend! Fish n' chips: Okay. A little background here; I was really torn between ordering this versus the broiled haddock. In hindsight, I kinda wish I had gone with the latter because fish n' chips can be hit or miss, depending on how they're done. This one was okay, though I can't tell if the piece of fish they used was just hella small or if it was the batter that was throwing me off. In either case, it seemed thinner than most fried cod or haddock I've had up there. This tends to result in the end pieces of fish being slightly overcooked whilst the center was mostly fine. I dunno. It only makes me wonder how their broiled haddock would have turned out. Grading on a curve, I'll give this one a 7 out of 10. All said, I would definitely return here and try several other items on the menu, actually. I already mentioned one, but another that I'm curious about is their steak & cheese. Sadly, it'll have to wait till I happen to be back in the neighborhood again, given the 40ish minute drive from our place. For now, though, I'm giving Riverside Grille 4 beautifully seasoned buffalo wings with creamy bleu cheese out of 5.
