We stopped here today because we really wanted to try a different place in the area. The menu seemed to offer something for everyone so we decided to check it out. First im sorry I didn't get any pictures but i can tell you the portions were big and the food was delicious. I decided on Cajun chicken and it was spicy and yummy! Food was average, which wasn't the issue. Service however was horrendous. We waited at the entrance to be acknowledged and rather than be shown to a table one was pointed to and we were told to sit there. It wasn't even set up for service. Still not a big deal. At 30 minutes we asked about our order, was told it was coming. At 40 minutes we asked that the manager check on our order and was told it would be a few minutes. They finally brought it it one of three kids meals and suggested that two of the children share it until the rest was ready, I even had to hunt down silverware at this point. Finally received the other kids meals, several minutes later one adult meal and several minutes after that the final adult meal. The wait from ordering until delivery was well into the hour mark. Worst of all was that the owner was visible during the entire time yet no one came over to explain the wait, apologize or thank us for our patience. Cozy small tavern. I has a tuna melt & onion rings. The sandwich was so huge. I had to eat it with a fork and knife. It was very good and the onion rings were crispy and to top that the price was $12. I had one in Manhattan. My total bill came to $26. I would definitely go back and try something different. Been to Ollie's about 5 times. Keep hoping the food gets a little better. Always get the fish. I do wonder if it's fresh or frozen. I've been told it's fresh but it doesn't seem it. To start with, I have been to Ollies two or three times before and things were ok but tonight was a disappointment. I had baked stuffed Haddock which was advertised with their own seafood stuffing. I ordered a baked potato and a salad with it. The room was cold due to the air conditioning being set about 5 degrees below my comfort level. I slipped on a Polar fleece jacket and I was not too warm even with that on. The light on the table was too bright so I asked our waitress if could be dimmed some but was told that it could not be dimmed. The salad was clean and fresh but only came with one small grape tomato that was not ripe. The rest was 95% iceberg lettuce with a little onion, a few slices of good cucumber, and some shredded carrot. The best saving feature was a decent blue cheese dressing. The Haddock appeared ok but barely had any flavor. The seafood stuffing which covered it was 99% tasteless. The baked potato was decent but rather small. It came with butter and sour cream. In summary, the main complaints were cold temperatures, tasteless Haddock and seafood stuffing, and an ok but weak salad. I'm not likely to plan a return trip soon. read more

I'm giving Ollie's 2 stars because it was my mother-in-law's favorite for years. We'd go here occasionally when visiting her, as it's nearby to where she lived. "Nearby" is probably the only positive thing about Ollie's. The fact that my MIL, who lived well into her 90's, thought so highly of this place tells you a lot about it. Most of the patrons are on the other side of 70, and in all honesty probably can't taste or chew much anymore. We went here again recently for some reason, mostly nostalgia of past visits with MIL, and it was exactly the same as ever. If you do eat here, stick with the simplest things - I recommend the chicken tenders, as they are probably the least likely to be awful. The place is chock-full of pictures of Laurel & Hardy, hence the name. This is a bit odd I think, as no one under 60 probably even remembers them. It's kind of like a shrine, weird. I'm pretty sure most everything is frozen, which is why there are so many fried items on the menu. French fries were terrible - mushy despite all of us asking for well done, because we know what's coming. Servers run the gamut from 'fed up with your shit' to plain aggression. Thumbs up for consistency, ladies! There are so many better options than Ollie's. Fasting is a good one. Oh, and the men's room - good luck if you're not the only one. You'll need to be close friends with anyone else who uses it, as there are 2 urinals and the sink all in a space the size of a phone booth. What's a 'phone booth'? Food was mediocre at best, fried chicken seemed like it was freezer to fryolator. Fake mash potatoes and God only knows what the gravy was. Their signature meat pie was dry and did not appear to be fresh. Decent dinner salad that came with a roll. Overall edible but could be better. One would expect better quality food for the price and given it was dinner time on a Saturday. Menu dictates a 10 percent price increase on meals which reflected a bit more on bill, maybe it was calculated after tax? I don't know. It is a double edge sword given the times were in, it seems like there is no pride in what one will serve. On a better note, service was decent. The ambiance was okay. As an uber driver I have dropped off many people here. Decided to give it a shot and check it out. Ate prior to coming here so I came here for a drink and a small app. Apon entering it was very cozy feeling, defiantly a laidback atmosphere. We were greeted right away which was great. We sat a bar ( small bar 9 seats) they only have 3 beers on tap. Bud, bud light, octoberfest. Seems many people around had mixed drinks. The takeout service is just as popular. Located at the corner of Mast Road and Henriette Street, Ollie's Food & Spirits, a casual family restaurant, offers a very extensive menu (over 150 menu items) to suit many tastes including American & Italian fare and a little bit of Greek. The menu offerings include appetizers, wings, soups, salads, sandwiches, gyros, burgers, wraps, subs, pizza, calzones, chicken, pasta, lamb, steaks, meatloaf, ribs, seafood, kids menu, and desserts. The prices here are reasonable and fair with good portions. Dinner entrees ($7.95-$19.95) include soup, cole slaw, vegetable or salad and choice of potato or rice (except pasta entrees). Daily specials are posted on the wall. Beer, wine, spirits, and cocktails served here. The place has four dining areas with booth & table seating, takeout counter seating, and seating in the small cocktail lounge in front (small TVs here). My buddy and I stopped here for dinner on a typical weeknight and the parking lot around the restaurant was almost full with some cars parked along the Henriette Street. Wow!! However, we were seated immediately and ordered some drinks Diet Coke ($1.75 each - free refills). For dinner, the Stuffed Haddock ($11.95) was very good and baked with lots of butter and topped with a savory seafood stuffing & Ritz cracker crumb and served with creamy mashed potatoes & brown gravy and a basic garden salad (iceberg). The Spaghetti & Meatballs ($8.95) was a tasty heaping portion of soft spaghetti topped with a hearty marinara sauce & 2 large homemade meatballs and served with a good cup of vegetable beef soup (tomato beef broth, potatoes, celery, cauliflower) & a soft dinner roll & butter. Cannot leave here without having dessert, specifically the homemade creamy Rice Pudding ($2.75), which is a staple here. I really loved the food here. Ollie's reminded me of a smaller version of the Backroom on the other side of town. I tried the chicken tenders, which were great (equal to the legendary ones at the Backroom IMO). For the side, I went with mashed potato's. I loved the mashed because not only were they homemade, but they had a touch of garlic and gravy. The meals come with a salad and bread too. They have a very extensive menu, so I can't wait to try everything else. I sampled some food off the plates of my family and liked all of it. The restaurant is spacious with very friendly service. Went to Ollie's last night. It's your basic run down diner. The food was not that good to me. I got steak tips which were over cooked. I have gotten burgers here before and they were subpar. You could tell the beef wasn't fresh. Not sure if their cooks have gotten worse but I used to love Ollie's Gyros. The food hasn't been as good as it was a couple years ago.
