We were visiting a friend in town who called this a "dive bar" so we didn't have high expectations, this far exceeded anything we anticipated. We did NOT eat here other than the popcorn at the end of the night, so I can't touch on that, but the popcorn did come in clutch after a few drinks!! We started with a couple beers. Service was great and super quick. I was disappointed that a lot of their beers had run out - I'm not sure if there's a better way to handle their beer menu but maybe a printed menu isn't the right choice since it seems they run through them pretty quick. Regardless, I found a couple I wanted to try and was able to create a flight with them. I loved that they have so many local beers to try from. We also indulged in their free open mic comedy upstairs, which was hilarious. It seems like they always have something going on to keep people entertained. The finger foods are always my first choice at a bar with live music. The hamburger got a great review from the table but for me the onion rings were delicious. The batter is perfectly balanced and the fries were great too. I will be more adventurous with my choices and let me tell you be staff is fantastic. Strange brew has a fantastic deal on Tuesdays! Much to my surprise when I arrived, I was told all draft beers were four dollars, and all appetizers were half off on Tuesdays! We ordered nachos, and a huge platter arrived, we also ordered chicken tenders, and they were delicious! A couple of four dollar draft beers while listening to live music beginning at 8 o'clock! We came here as a group of 8 on Thursday night. While it was not crowded, there was a good crowd. On Thursdays, it is ladies night so drinks are half off which was so nice. We hung out near the billiards table and our waiter Bennett was super nice and checked in on us often. He even helped with ensuring another visitor had left the building because he was making others uncomfortable. I also loved the free popcorn and it was good quality popcorn! Tuesday here is a must. They have a great happy hour deal on Tuesday and all their appetizers are half off and their drafts are also a deal (I can't remember if it's half off or $5, but either way a great deal) My awkward weak self who can't handle spice or cheese got the "nachos" appetizers, but they let me add pulled pork and hold on the jalapeños and cheese. Idk if it's even fair for me to call it nachos anymore. The plate they come out with is huggeee and pretty much just a huge thing of pork and chips. Meat and carbs, then the alcohol? That's pretty much all I ever need. I love the bookshelves they have over all the windows and walls. The little train around the stage is also too cute. One of my favorite breweries in town! Unassuming on the outside, so very cool on the inside: brick wall interiors with built-in bookshelves, a popcorn machine, a train running around the restaurant, musical instruments on display, a pool table, arcade games, and live music! They have plenty of bar and table seating. They also have a hefty beer, wine, AND liquor selection. Their draft list is constantly updated, and their service is efficient. For food, I had the Buffalo chicken wrap (Buffalo chicken tenders, bleu cheese dressing, lettuce, tomato, caramelized onions) which was fresh, crunchy, and filling. Went in for drinks and apps. The Pandemic Menu was very limited. We chose wings which were a little lack lustre. My friend seemed to enjoy them and slathered them with the white sauce she mentioned was "dill flavored" and looked like ranch dressing. I drank a red sangria that was good but quite sweet and looked like fruit punch. There was a twist of lemon in glass, so whatever. There is a nice beer menu and the beer we had was very nice. It was the S'mores flavored beer. I didn't catch the full name, but you can actually taste a lot of great flavors in that beer. Moral of the story, stick to what a place knows and get the beer instead of the Sangria. For a Thursday evening at 5pm, the place was virtually empty. My family and I often visited this restaurant and always request Allie M, as our server. She is very attentive and professional. We prefer Wednesdays as it's not so crowded. The food is less than average, and I find the heavier set restaurant Manager, I think her name is Mercedes, rube and abusive to her staff. Once being in the restaurant business myself, my family started a little chain called Mc Donald Hamburgers. It's hard to keep good help. Owner take notice, your restaurant is in desperate need of an over hall. Strange Brew has the best atmosphere in town. They always have a great live band playing and have huge tap list for the beer aficionado. Along with full dining service they also have cocktail servers so you can post up anywhere and get service. This includes a huge outdoor seating area too. I come here every time I'm in NH. This might be one of my favorite bars. Tons of beers on tap(around 60)/a thorough drink menu with all the fun stuff a girl needs to have a good time, a fantastic happy hour, live blues on the weekends, bar food and complimentary popcorn is always in the machines up front. I always tell my husband, who is from Manch, that having grown up in NYC I thought the city had everything...until I went to the Strangebrew. There's just something special about this bar! I went there yesterday to grab a bite and hear some blues. I ordered a burger rare to medium rare and it was as well done as it could possibly be.our waitress was elsewhere and I just shot my insulin for my meal and the timing is important,shot to meal. Finally another waitress was able to find our waitress. I don't like cheating people so I suggested I pay half. They were okay with that.But as a really good cook I thought how long does it take to cook ten oz. Burger grey, hard and dry? A lot longer than that the 3-4 minutes a side to cook it med rare. This is elementary and should never happen. I have enjoyed burgers from six restaurants in the area and each one was cooked perfectly. read more

This place is a little diamond in the rough. If you weren't looking for it, you may never find it as it's tucked away in downtown Manchester. I have been there several times now as it's not too far from home. The dim lit atmosphere with a dark wooded bar adds to the rustic quaintness of the place. Employees are always pleasant and add to the experience. Incredible beer selection that always takes an extra minute to decide on something. The wings are incredible with tasty hot sauce they have. Made a group reservation 2 months ahead of time. Confirmed reservation over the phone a week before and the day before. Our group was taken to the back room, which was prepared for us. Then, we found a passive aggressive Facebook post from the owner claiming we never made a reservation and we're being disrespectful to staff (neither were true). I visited this pub on the recommendations of several friends. I arrived and sat at the bar. I was greeted by a friendly staff that made me feel welcomed. I was presented with a menu for the many beer selections available. The menu was designed to list by name, type, and country, which helped me considerably. I noted a bad odor while reading the menu and discovered it was the menu! It had stains and what appeared to be mildew on the paper pages inserted into plastic holders. It was a really foul odor! I ordered my beer and got rid of the menu.. I placed a food order and while waiting noticed a roach crawling across the tray containing the flatware and napkin service for the bar.. At that point I decided to cancel my food order and simply finish my beer and leave. I informed the bartender of the roach and she removed the top folded napkin after apologizing to me. I'm a little biased because this has become my groups local favorite hangout but why should that hold me back from giving five stars?! SB has a live band almost every night but it's not obnoxiously loud. I can't do loud. There is tons of seating types: to the right booths, the band on the tigger side of the windowed wall strait ahead, or the bar area off to the left once you walk in. There is a great L-shaped bar with a good amount of open space and two long height top tables off to the side. There are two decent sized TVs off to the left of the bar, the two small ones elsewhere but it would suffice to see a game if you caught the right seats or stood/ sat at the bar. Also, you wouldn't know it unless I told ya but there is a basement bar with games that you access by walking straight past the restrooms (not as gross as it sounds I promise). It's a cool setup down there but we usually stick upstairs. They have about 10-15 draft beers in a good menu for you to read (thank you God) and for the most part the liquor drinks aren't watered down. My lady always gets Tito's a cran and it's hard to mess that up. The nachos are the bomb. The chicken tenders look good too but I haven't had them. Strange Brew is a solid, local watering hole with an unbelievable tap list. It sits in Manchester's downtown area among the brownstones near City Hall. The atmosphere is dark and rustic with wood floors and modest, ski-lodge style decor. Don't be discouraged by the "No colors" sign that hangs beside the front door; while the place is frequented by biker types in the summer, I've never come across anything remotely close to a "situation" in the years that I've visited the Brew. The tap list was running over 70 beers last time I checked, and their selections run from popular domestics (Coors, Harpoon IPA), to more obscure imports like La Fin du Monde, and deep locals like Kelson's amazing brown ale. The food at the Brew is your typical pub fare, but their nacho mountain -its ridges and overhangs oozing cheese and other tasty glop- is very popular and a staple on the menu. I ordered the pulled-pork sandwich, last night. It was decent but the pork was overpowered by a jalapeño flavor, almost as if their nacho makings supplement the pulled pork filling. Regardless, the Brew is worth checking out, especially if you're not a local. If you're a long time local, Strange Brew doubles as a disparaging existential nightmare land-mined with people from your past. read more

My crew and I stop at Strange Brew for the very extensive beer selection, good pub fare, and for the live entertainment and dancing. The place is usually very busy and jam packed around the bar area with TVs, so we do our best to find a spot to consume our beverages. The place also has table and booth seating (must be seated by staff) with exposed brick walls, framed music pictures, and shelves with old books line the walls. The lower area has the performance stage and dance floor. Feels like I'm in a rathskelleresque study hall turned jazz club. There are over 60 draft beers on tap including Leinenkugel, Smithwicks, Blue Moon, and Guinness. Most people come for the entertainment, beers and atmosphere, cause there really isn't much else. If you are coming for a 'beer and a bite' as they would say. Then well mate, you are SOL because the food here stinks. Not a big fan. The place is fairly dirty, I am guessing that most drunken fools don't really care about that. Not much in the way of parking, not a great location. Lot of jack asses here because everyone is looking to get trashed and have a 'good' time. I was there with a friend last night and I must say that it was one of the worst bartending experiences I've had in quite some time.
