I was introduced to this hidden gem recently and it was a great experience. They have trivia on Thursday nights, for those interested! First off, it's located on a beautiful golf course as a public country club. The parking lot directly in front is small, if you come on a typically busy night you'll have to wait for a spot. Or, you can drive to the other parking lot a few more feet down that's directly connected to the course. It's a public lot, but a bit more walking FYI. I've only been on trivia nights so I can't speak to the hostess or table service. The bar is packed on trivia nights, it currently starts at 7pm. The bartenders are great, quick at refills and attentive. Nice windows around the dining room let in natural light and the back deck looks amazing, with its own covered bar out there. Looks to be musicians as well on certain nights. The food is good! Had calamari one night, with a spicy wasabi sauce that was yummy. Had the sliders and fries the other night. I added some toppings to the sliders, otherwise they come out plain. Trivia is very fun. Lots of categories and themes- music plays you name the song, find the theme in the pictures, classic trivia, pyramid points, and final trivia where you can wager your existing points. Here with a group of 10 to eat, drink and dance on Friday night. The place is large, with lots of bar and table seating both inside and outside (deck is half covered). Menu has something for everyone. We were all pleased with our choices, from nachos to chicken parm sandwich to crab cakes and Cobb salads. Drinks were good, prices reasonable for the area, and the server, Emily A, did a great job keeping up in a busy, noisy environment. Band was very good - I'll be back! read more

Attended a baby shower with my husband and two young daughters. Spent the first 3 hours chasing around our daughters and catching up with family. I left since it was past my youngest daughter's nap time, and my husband stayed since it was all of his family in attendance. A few minutes later he was having a conversation with a family friend when he was approached by the manager and pulled to the side. He was then told (not asked) that he was "mixing drinks" in his yeti he had with him. Mind you this yeti was in the stroller the entire afternoon and nothing was ever mentioned as a problem. Luckily he had this with him (which contained an energy drink) because the soda provided for the party was a flat pitcher of Diet Coke that the bartender wouldn't refill even after several people told her it was flat (she told them, no it wasn't). Apparently she couldn't be bothered to do her job and no where was there any signage that outside drinks weren't allowed and I even had a Stanley of water for my daughter which no one had a problem with. After the manager made this baseless allegation and my husband informed him that wasn't the case at all, he followed up with, " I'll give you the chance to bring it to your car," treating my husband like a child that stole something at the grocery store. I have NEVER been so insulted and appalled with any employee let alone the MANAGER. He never apologized for the confrontation or made any attempt at making the situation right and instead said that other people had done it in the past. If you want to pay way too much to rent a room for any event to get mediocre food, flat soda, and terrible customer service then this is the place for you! read more

This review is based on my high school, Reunion minus won't start because some of the servers were not very knowledgeable about the food they had on the tray pass we had a lot of parking, so no problem with that the bartender did not know how to make easy drinks. Terrible service, do not ask to split a check all you will get is an attitude. Food was overpriced and mediocre at best, the waitress had no personality and on multiple trips to our table forgot to ask at least one person at the table what they wanted to eat and also to drink. That actually blew my mind, she would ask 2 out of 5 people if they had what they needed then would run away. This was my first time and also my last time going to the Derryfield. A group of us (high school classmates) who were going to the Derryfield on a regular basis will not longer be meeting there any longer as it is too much trouble for them to give separate checks. It is difficult to get only one check for 12 to 16 people when some are paying with a credit/debit card. Several other places have no problem and welcome our business. UPDATE (6/2014): Since it was a very nice evening, my buddy and I headed to The Derryfield for dinner and cold drinks on the big outside deck. The inside restaurant was very quiet, but the deck was rockin' out with live local music, no cover charge. I haven't had dinner on the deck in 5 years, so it was like a reunion of where I used to have my outside dinners. There were a few bouncers in red shirts present to keep things in check. We sat up at the bar and ordered some drinks and got menus. We started out with the Ultimate Nachos ($10.59), which came out very hot, a HUGE pile of warm tri color tortilla chips covered with lots of cheese, lettuce, salsa, and hearty meat & bean chili. We dove in and finished the very generous pile of nachos. We proclaim these nachos and the nachos at Billy's as the Best Nachos in Manchester! For dinner, my buddy ordered the Pan Seared Haddock ($13.99) with rice pilaf and fresh season vegetables (green beans, zucchini), which was pretty good. I ordered the Fish Tacos ($11.99), which were 2 fish tacos (crispy battered haddock, lettuce, salsa, melted cheese stuffed in hard taco shells inside and a grilled soft shell tortilla on the outside. The side of cole slaw was very creamy, sweet, and on the wet side. The steak fries (wider than standard) were crisp outside and soft inside, salty tasting. The service at the bar was very attentive and prompt. I was given countless refills on the Diet Coke ($1.99) and my buddy enjoyed 3 Tanquerey & Tonics ($6.19 each). Also, when my big dinner plate of fish tacos, fries, and slaw arrived, some of the fries fell onto the counter. The staff promptly brought out a basket of fresh fries on the house, now that's great customer service. We will be keeping The Derryfield on our dinner out rotation, especially on nice weather days. I don't know if I would recommend coming here. From Mammoth Rd it looks appealing. Went to dinner with friends tonight and the order tickets were lost, 3 times.....3 times. Took about 1.5 hours to get any food. On top of the that the chicken tenders I ordered didn't taste good and had a soggy texture. Fries weren't flavorful either. Not crispy. Won't be back. I visited the deck about 2.5 months ago when restaurants had just started opening up after the COVID quarantine. I went there for dinner before the party crowd arrived and sat on the deck to minimize Covid exposure. I was shocked to see most of the wait staff wearing masks around their necks. A bartender was also serving folks without a mask as well as a young kid delivering food to patrons. I decided that surely the owner or management would want to know about my experience so I wrote feedback on their website. I was disappointed but not at all surprised they had multiple cases of Covid with their staff. I won't be going back here again unless I'm feeling suicidal. The atmosphere is nice, but this place has very average food. Last week I got the french dip sandwich made with prime rib. When I order that, I expect the meat to be reddish/pink- not grey. I specifically asked the waitress before I ordered it if the meat would be grey, and she said no. I explained to her that the last time I ordered a french dip at a restaurant the meat was grey, and she told me that probably means the meat was old. I didn't even know this place existed in all my 10 months living in Manchester. My friend told me to meet her there and I thought it'd be some little local corner bar... to my surprise I entered a HUGE parking lot and saw a huge building. WHAT?? So the place is packed. Filled with what I can only describe as the yuppies of the Manchester area. Young, old professionals (and some college kids) all rallied in one spot. Some ladies were in their fancy dress get-ups, younger gals in clubbing-esque clothing, me in jeans and a t-shirt. Older men with collar dress shirts sipping beers, swaying to the music. Live bands outside and in. The deck is apparently the place to be. But BE PREPARED... no perfume, instead drench yourself in BUG SPRAY or else the mosquitos will eat you alive. Bartenders get impatient if you don't order as soon as you make eye contact so know what you want. They have the typical bevs. Food looked pretty good. Huge portions.. I didn't get to try any. We live and work really close to the Derryfield so I've experienced them at corporate events, lunch, and evening events. The food is good - not amazing but good. I've never been disappointed, except the salads could be better. The inside is roomy so you don't feel crowded at lunch and the staff is nice. What I love about this place is the back deck that overlooks a beautiful golf course. You can sit in the sun or under the canopy and its a nice breeze. The corporate event room is spacious and has good audio visual capabilities and the staff are helpful if you have technical issues. Food at the events I've been to is average banquet quality and reasonably priced. Not every time, but often enough to comment, service can be slow. So if you're in a hurry beware. But if you have the time and you're having drinks on the deck, it's nice to sit and talk without being rushed through dinner. I've also been here for live music events... These tend to fill up quickly and it turns into more of a bar/club scene that draws a 30-40's crowd. The events were fun, but crowded and difficult to get a drink. read more

Went to Easter brunch again this year. (Didn't want to, but it's a "family thing".) Mary was our waitress and she was great. Overall the food was better than last year. There were a couple of exceptions though: 1. The pancakes were like cardboard. I would have liked to find the cook and made him sit down and try to eat them. The bottoms were so overcooked you could hardly cut them with a knife. 2. I realize they had a lot of people to feed, but trying to feed everyone from ONE HAM was a little absurd. The gentleman at the carving station was having a hard time trying to cut the slices because he was making them paper thin. Then, once I got back to my table and had a piece of ham, there was absolutely no taste. Was it because it was cut too thin, or just a lousy ham?
