Swiss mushroom burger with onion rings.

Wanted a place close to SNHU and it's just 5-6 min away. It's a little local joint, not fancy but it was good. There were people watching the game on a Sunday and a few people in the back room playing pool with the game on. The waitstaff was nice. Not a huge menu but the food was good. We had burgers, a pastrami sandwich and hot dogs. They were all good. The rolls that the burgers were on were nice and fresh. Onions rings were crispy. And we tried the Tater Kegs appetizer. That was good too. Good place for a lunch with a drink that does not kill your wallet. It was reasonable.

Fried Haddock, Fries and Cucumber Salad

I decided to come here based on the two reviews that were written by Amanda and Ian. I have spent a lot of time traveling over the years, and have been to a lot of roadside diners. This one is "up there" in my estimation. I had the fried haddock, fries and cucumber salad along with lemon pie. I posted a pic of my plate along with this review. The star on the plate was the haddock. It was fresh, hot and the breaded crust was thin and crisp. It was lightly seasoned with salt and spices and the whole effect was delicious. The fries were crinkle cut, so my vote would be that they are factory made, which is contrary to the previous review. However, they were properly cooked, there were no over or under done pieces, and they tasted fine. The cucumber salad was actually really great because the cucumbers were light and crisp, the seasoning was perfect and the onions were really mild and sweet. The pie was not the meringue pie from the previous review, but it was some sort of lemon cream pie that i do not think was made there. It was just OK. The decaf coffee that I had with dessert was good and the server kept my cup full. All of these are traits of a classic roadside diner. So, to sum up the ramble, if you are in Hookset, NH or driving by on the Interstate 93, go for it. It's great. The service was just fine. The Sam Adams on tap was fresh, cold, and served in a classic mug. I did get the "you're not from here, are ye?" looks, but then again I have had a lifetime of those. it was not obnoxious or hostile, just curiosity.

This the classic neighborhood bar. Simple menu. Good drinks. Went three times in less than a week and was never disappointed.

Absolutely incredible fried seafood. Tender and crispy. Nice intimate homey vibe. Seems like everyone knows each other here

I have only come here once. I came for the breakfast buffet and it was horrible and that is why I have never been back.

My family and I come occasionally for the Sunday breakfast buffet and find that it's pretty decent food, no issues with service at all.

A dear friend just bought a condo near Newfound Lake and needed to attend the HOA meeting, so we decided to join with them afterwards and they searched the food offerings and came up with Kathleen's Irish Pub. Arriving at the place we noticed a sizable parking area although I am sure it's on overflow at St. Patty's Day. For a first timer, the premises used to be a hardware store so there are several doors and although the one that seems to be the main door, is not. The entrance is towards the front and there is a ramp to the main door Entering the Pub, there is an ample bar area and the food area is towards the left, facing Main Street. We were warmly greeted by a wonderful hostess whose demeanor and customer care was the best I've seen in a long time. We began the afternoon festivities with, of course, Guinness, certainly slow poured, which is good for you. My other half had their Harviestoun Old Engine Oil, creamy and tasty. The next course we had was their Giant Pretzel. Really giant. Baby Huey giant. It served as the appetizer for four of us. We got it with both, homemade beer cheese dipping sauce and the Irish Whiskey Dipping sauce. Both sauces are delicious, really so. Then they brought out the main courses; I had their delicious fish and chips. Perhaps one of the best, tastiest, crispy pieces of fish I've ever had. My spouse ordered the Galway Girl, a true half pound prime Black Angus burger topped by Swiss cheese and fried cheddar curds, poblano dressing and chips. The mix of the fried curds and meat and sauce was amazingly tasty. Another friend had the Boxty, basically a potato pancake filled with a delicious chicken stew. The quality of the food was amazing. Really so. But that wasn't enough, we ordered both, their Bread Pudding, and their Sticky Toffee Pudding. The Bread Pudding was amazing, but the Sticky Pudding was unequaled. I am glad we shared the dessert among four people... At the end of the lunch, the owner came in and engaged us in conversation. Affable, full of energy, friendly, and she knows the path of excellence where she's taking the place. We learned a second pub is planned for Franklin. If it is anywhere near the quality of Kathleen's, Franklin will have one superb eatery. Absolutely recommended.

But overall and current experience has been excellent. There is a mix of authentic Irish dishes and some Irish-ish fare. The Shepherds Pie and Fish and Chips are consistently excellent. Bangers and Mash is also, very good. Salads are fresh and appetizers good, though most are on the heavy side. Good selection, of beer and a number of memorable irish whiskies are available. Service is usually very good, especially when the owners are present. Everyone is friendly. We'll be back again. Very soon.

The food was just okay, but seems to have potential with a few tweaks. Gorgonzola cheese was somehow replaced with blue cheese?? Hamburger bun should be grilled maybe? There was lots of bacon on the burger. Sliders were good but need toppings suited to the meat. Pasta salad was a nice touch actually. Tasty fries but arrived cold. We sat at 545PM, ordered at 6PM and received food at 640P. We gobbled it down in time for a 7PM show at SNHU. Not sure what the wait was about. Coke products!!

Waited for a table to be clean, and it was 15 minutes before someone came to take a drink order. To be fair, the waitstaff was running, clearly busy. We each got a cocktail. My husband's spicy pineapple marg was good. My strawberry spritzer was bitter and flavorless. The short rib nachos were amazing. So flavorful and a great combination of ingredients. Slider trio was just okay per my husband. I'm told the pulled pork had a strange sweet flavor. My burger was incredibly disappointing, it was not seasoned...at all. Spear pickle on the side, ended up stealing my husband's chip pickles to flavor my burger. There was not enough ketchup to help. Ate half and could not stomach it. Overall, not a great experience,
