Awesome Irish Pub with an old-school yesteryear feel to it. Lots of hardwoods all around. We ate dinner here on evening. I had the fried pickles with Ranch dressing on the side, and a Shepherds Pie, paired with a cold pint of a locally crafted Ale: IPA (7.2% ABV) Stoneface Brewing Co., Newington, NH (ranked 3.25 stars on Untappd) Overall - a pretty decent IPA. The pickles were crispy and delicious. And the Shepherds Pie was meaty, tasty, and filling. Service was good! The one problematic issue with visiting The Wild Rover was parking. EVERY space in the general area is pay parking. And most spots were already taken. #TheWildRover

Not some place that you absolutely have to visit in Manchester but it's a solid local spot to grab a beer, watch the game, and enjoy some comforting pub food. My favorite item on their menu is the Fish and Chips! They take thick pieces of haddock, dip it in a harp lager batter, and fry it to a nice golden brown. As for the fries, Wild Rover offers thin fries or thick-cut pub fries. Pretty sure kitchen staff lets those sit in the fryer for an extra minute because they come out DARK brown and extra crispy which I love. The fries are also on the salty salty side so they are probably heaven on a plate if you're hammered. Weekend brunches are cool too. If I get there late and feel like grabbing a heavy meal, the Irish breakfast is a no-brainer. Ten dollars will get you eggs any way, rashers (Irish bacon), Irish bangers, black & white pudding, potatoes O'Brien, beans, and a biscuit. So good but crazy filling. I always have to walk off that meal. Always check for specials! In addition to daily specials, Wild Rover offers half price wings during every Boston game (for any sport). Also, bloody marys are only $3 on the weekend! These are far from fancy and lack bacon, however, they are great if you love to drink as Rover isn't shy with the vodka. Service is normally pretty good. I always encounter the same server each time and she is not only friendly but also makes sure orders are correct. I truly appreciate that.

The tables are superbly clean. The bathrooms are scrupulously spotless. The bar is perfectly curated and organized. A health inspector here would be sorely disappointed. Cleanest venue I've seen in a long time. The service lacked, however. Right after being ushered to our table with a beautiful outside view, the young waitress started yapping interminably on personal issues with a couple she obviously knew two tables away. We were forgotten. Finally after a good 15 minutes, one of us went to the bar to get menus. The bar waitress came out and bought us menus and gave the young lady a look.... Then the taps were out so in an Irish pub, no slow-poured Guinness. I did get it in the bottle and then had to send the waitress to get a cold glass. Lunch came. Delicious Chicken Moher and my other half a delicious Club Sandwich. Yum The lunch was very good. I would have given five stars. But the initial reception with a lackadaisical waitress tells me that although the pub may be outstanding, they need some better training for their wait staff.

She was able to find us a table after a short wait at the bar. By the way, at the bar I had the best Guinness I have had in a while - a great pour. Once we sat down, Rachel was right there to welcome us and get us started. This exceptional level of service from her continued throughout the evening. We started with the sharing platter and each item was fantastic. Everything was hot and delicious. Of particular note were the pigs in blankets - the sausage is fantastic. The only disappointment was that it came with one scotch egg instead of two. For supper, two of us ordered shepherds pie, one Guinness pie, one Guinness stew and one Fish & Chips. Everyone was very happy with their meal. Great flavor/seasoning, good portions and perfectly cooked beef and fish. We continued to enjoy the Guinness and Smithwick's on tap until the end of the meal when got a round of Irish Coffee which was delicious. Rachel was spot on with her service and attitude and even engaged in a conversation with us about our next trip to Ireland and she reinforced our desire to go the north of Ireland including Donegal where she is from. At some point my wife told Rachel that it was my birthday and that I am not a cake person. Rachel managed to get the kitchen to make a personal size apple crumble which was scrumptious and happens to be a favority of mine. In fact my wife commented after that she would have ordered it but it was not on the menu as a dessert. Another example of Rachel going above and beyond the call to ensure we had a great experience. And we did. Thank you to Rachel and all the staff and chefs for a briliant evening. I can't wait to go back!!
