I hopped off the plane at Logan with my bag and this was my first stop. The World Cup games were happening a little bit later in the day so it wasn't super busy yet with all the fans. I was able to get a table and put my bag down for a nice lunch. I ended up going with the reuben and fries. With the heat and the muggy weather, I didn't want to go too heavy with food or drinks. The reuben was one of the best I have ever had. Toasted perfectly and the corned beef was very flavorful. I opted out on the kraut since I'm not a big fan and it was still great. The fries were incredible. They had a homemade taste and you can tell they take a lot of care into their food. It sounds funny but, you can also tell a place is gonna be good when they have the quality ketchup. It really was great. The vibes in here are immaculate if you love that Irish pub, old school feel. Not only was it that, but it also felt modern and clean. I wanted to go back the next day for more. Came here for a late dinner and it was a packed house! We managed to grab a table and ordered a couple dishes to share. The staff were very sweet and helpful considering how many people were at the bar and crowding the floor. Their drink menu was creative and all the options looked great, I especially enjoyed the one I tried for its fruiti- and sweetness! We first tried their fried chicken, but I was expecting more flavor here and was disappointed that it was just tasting like dry chicken. The sauce was okay, but a little bit of spices on the chicken would have helped. We also tried the soda bread, which was great with butter. After our 2.5 hr Freedom Trail walking tour yesterday, we were quite famished so we stopped by here though it was packed with soccer fans in Boston for the World Cup. Luckily they had a patio table for two available immediately. Glad we were seated outside. Inside was very crowded and loud. Our server Pierce was humorous, attentive, and friendly. We ordered an espresso martini and a Dubliner along with our house soup with Irish soda bread and shepherds pie with lamb. The restaurant has lots of indoor and outdoor seating. We saw lots of Scottish people yesterday, many wearing kilts, in high spirits. Fun people watching. A satisfying meal with a tasty cocktail was exactly what we needed to re-energize. My soup tasted like corn cheddar (I was only told it was vegetable soup), very rich and creamy. The bread was delicious and hearty. Stopped in for a pint of Guinness on my way back from a tour of TD Garden. I've had a lot of Guinness in my life but for some reason, unbeknownst to me, this was the best Guinness I've had in my lifetime. Maybe it was the extreme care the barkeep did with the pour? The Dubliner in Boston had a really fun vibe, especially during trivia night. It felt less like a standard trivia setup and more like a Family Feud style game, which made it way more interactive and entertaining. The questions were creative and kept everyone engaged the whole time, not just the usual pub trivia format. We also tried some of the bar snacks, which leaned more traditional Irish. They were simple but interesting, and felt like a nice change from typical bar food. I did hear that Ed Sheeran was here once too. Yay! I loved my brunch at the dubliner and I would certainly be back if I am back in the area. The service was top notch even though they were quite busy. I got seated on a little side section by myself and felt like they took great care of me. I was looking for a full English in the area and couldn't find a place that did it with black pudding which is what I was really after. So since I had not had a full Irish before I figured I would give it a try. It did not disappoint. While there are a few differences between a traditional full Irish and a full English, mainly the Irish will typically have a white pudding the sausage is a bit different and they won't have hashbrowns or beans normally. Or bubble and squeak. This one thankfully DID have beans which I was thankful for! It also came with two eggs, tomato, mushroom, soda bread, bacon, black and white pudding, and home fries. I don't love hashbrowns unless they are the thin sliced ones so these weren't my favorite but everything else was delicious. The puddings were AMAZING I wish I had easier access to this where I live. Everything else good. I was very happy with this. I also ordered a scotch egg which I had not had before. It's like a fried meatball coating a soft boiled egg. They served it with applesauce. This was delicious! Can't comment on the actual bar unfortunately I don't drink a ton and was just there for breakfast. But I heard people speaking in thick Irish accents and the place was crowded. The ambiance of the restaurant is a typical Irish bar with lots of memorabilia all over the walls. The bar is average sized at first glance but if you go to the restrooms you'll find it's MUCH larger than it seems at first glance. You can walk in with a pretty large group on a weekend and likely get a table. Overall I loved my brunch here and I would be back! read more

Such a fun spot to watch any World Cup games!! Very busy and social media def made the line long but once you're in it's so worth it!

Came here to watch a Manchester United game and eat brunch and it was pretty good. I had the "braised beef hash and eggs" which was basically corned beef hash and my partner had the shepherd's pie. The beef was good but nothing to write home about, and my partner really liked the shepherd's pie. We both had spicy bloody Mary's that were not spicy at all, but were okay. Guinness pour was flat unfortunately, which surprised me for a downtown Irish pub. Server was nice, but not around much, the space is huge with multiple rooms, so sometimes we had to wait. Ambiance for the game was fun, we sat by the projector and it started to fill in with some fans and was pretty packed by lunch time. We were a group of 6 who arrived on time for our 6:30 reservation. The restaurant is very noisy so it's hard to make conversation. I'd say it's better as a bar than a restaurant, but the prices of drinks will get you. I ordered a margarita and when I got the bill I found out it cost me $18. Outrageous! I ordered the Fish Stew which was piping hot and looked good. It had 2 clams, 2 shrimp, about 8 mussels and some good white fish. The potatoes were huge chunks that had to be cut up, but were hard , so undercooked. The menu said it was served in a broth, but it was a red sauce. It was just okay. The wait staff were pretty quick to whip away our dishes. Our group was considering dessert, but there was little to their dessert menu, so we passed. We were quickly given the bill and before we had a chance to give the payment we were asked if we were all set because "we need your table to set up for another group". Not a good feeling as a quest. Be aware they charge an extra percent for their back staff. I know this has become "normal" now at many restaurants, but I don't like it. Pay your staff what they're worth and reflect it in your prices with the rest of your overhead. I will never return and they won't care. read more

This is a bit of a rocky review. While in Boston I had to hit an authentic Irish pub with real Irish food and not that generic bar food most Irish bars serve like potato skins and stuff. I especially am always on the hunt for a great Guinness stew - one that is dark black and mainly made with Guinness and not reddish and mainly made with tomato sauce. Well, this place had an amazing Guinness stew. We also had an amazing Guinness stew pie, which was just the stew in a pastry crust. The fish and chips were huge and great. My half & half was poured just right. We had to pay for bread as an appetizer, which I'm finding is more common and totally lame. Anyway, everything was great right? So why not 5 stars. Well, I would've but I ate here on the way to the airport to head back to California. Well, a few minutes after being seated on the plane, we both suddenly bloated from something in the Guinness stew and the flight was incredibly uncomfortable, though luckily we didn't get sick. I would go back if I was in Boston and recommend. Just make sure you're going home after in case you get bloated or do get sick. Otherwise, kudos for a properly made Guinness stew. read more

The sauce was on the salty side and the large chunks of al dente roasted apple did not pair especially well and felt out of place. The accompanying mashed potatoes were unappealing due to the watery grainy texture and severe need for butter and cream. I had bites of my other friends foods which were all fine but nothing that really stood out. While the flavors did not wow, the portions were large. Service was good. Came while in Boston for breakfast. We loved it so much. We had to come back for dinner and listen to some live music. Was kind of disappointed in thinking it'd be more like an Irish vibe of a band plane, and it wasn't. But the guy they had was pretty good. The fish and chips was absolutely amazing, huge portion of fish. We shared, and then got two of the appetizers as well. The best part of the fish and chips was the gravy which kinda had a curry flair to it and was absolutely amazing. I'm not a huge curry fan and I loved it so it's worth a try. We also tried their Irish bread and the cheesy pearl barley bites. I attempted to find a picture of what the barley bites were like inside just so I knew what to expect and couldn't find one so I've attached that to my review as well. They were pretty good, not sure I'd order them again but definitely worth a try. The Irish bread like pretty much every type of bread was perfectly cooked, warm and loved the Irish butter. You have to go here while in Boston, the interior, exterior, the food, and the staff were all amazing. We didn't have high food expectations as far as quality goes, but the food was actually very good. I'm a fish & chips guy & those were up to par & hit the spot. I made the reservation at the Dubliner for a birthday dinner with my family. We arrived a little early for our reservation and the hostess was welcoming and pleasant. She was able to find us a table after a short wait at the bar. By the way, at the bar I had the best Guinness I have had in a while - a great pour. Once we sat down, Rachel was right there to welcome us and get us started. This exceptional level of service from her continued throughout the evening. We started with the sharing platter and each item was fantastic. Everything was hot and delicious. Of particular note were the pigs in blankets - the sausage is fantastic. The only disappointment was that it came with one scotch egg instead of two. For supper, two of us ordered shepherds pie, one Guinness pie, one Guinness stew and one Fish & Chips. Everyone was very happy with their meal. Great flavor/seasoning, good portions and perfectly cooked beef and fish. We continued to enjoy the Guinness and Smithwick's on tap until the end of the meal when got a round of Irish Coffee which was delicious. Rachel was spot on with her service and attitude and even engaged in a conversation with us about our next trip to Ireland and she reinforced our desire to go the north of Ireland including Donegal where she is from. At some point my wife told Rachel that it was my birthday and that I am not a cake person. Also tried some of the Beef & Guinness Pie, which was also good but I prefer the shepherds pie. Portions are very filling, although on the photos they might seem somewhat small. The service was good as well, definitely recommend this spot. P.S. you are better off making a reservation as we got there around 8PM and lucked out with a table, they were already packed. Start with the Irish Coffee. An absolute must get, maybe the best I've ever had (sorry Buena Vista). They use Tullamore Irish whiskey and turbinado sugar, and it's so smooth and delicious. We went twice on a trip to Boston, and both times had excellent friendly service. I had a braised beef hash for brunch and it was without a doubt the best hash I've ever tasted. Highly recommended! I loved my salad and the falafel balls were cooked perfectly. Our waiter was very fast and provided quick service. My only complaint about this place is how crowded it gets with people who come in for drinks and stand. They had a separate dinning area but our table top table was in the busiest room and I could barely talk to my husband so I was a little annoyed with that.
