I was worried we might not make it in time - there was a long line outside but it moved fast and we were inside before 1130 pm so we had just enough time to get a drink (bubbles and guinness) and sing/dance along with the live music. The Dubliner has been on my radar for a long time, we popped in early evening on the 4th of July to grab a quick bite. The Fish & Chips were good and the fries were hearty. I could drink the curry sauce, it complimented the Fish & Chips really well. read more

I've only visited for drinks with friends in the evening and loved the atmosphere. There was a nice outdoor area to sit and chat and the bar service was fairly quick, even on a busy night. We found the dubliner by accident. We were with a group of nine and looking for a place to eat and another bar requested us to stop in here. We were not disappointed. Although the restaurant was very busy, they found two tables next to each other to seat our group. The servers were very attentive and everyone enjoyed the food that they ordered. We got lost in the rain and as fate would have it, we found our way to this bar. Sometimes getting lost is the best way to find a place you have never been. We were greeted warmly by the server who couldn't find a table for us, but suggested we try the back bar for first come first serve seating. The back bar had two of the nicest bartenders I have ever met. The gentleman talked with us at great length about Irish whiskeys, Irish sporting events, and general Boston happenings. The fish and chips arrived and it was better than the best places in London (and I have tried many). I appreciated the staff and the interactions with some regulars at the bar. One of the bartenders is beautiful, friendly, and treats everyone like a friend. Definitely recommend this place - we didn't stay for the live music or dancing but I believe this was a poor decision on my part. Definitely a big sports crowd here as we came in before a Bruins game and were shocked how many people filled up the bar and then left in a short period. Pretty good bar, one of the best near government center. I usually come here for the cheap Carlsburg beers. I think about 8$? They are usually cold and always delicious. Best deal around this area. They also have Suncruiser ice teas which I really enjoy drinking. But for 10$ a can you can easily rack up a big bill. One thing I enjoy about Dubliner is 95% of the employees are Irish, or at least put on a good accent. They are friendly of course too Lunch is also good here. The fish and chips is one of the better I've had in the city, burger hits the spot as well. I often get the fish bites cuz they're a good deal and not too much food. They have some fun Irish classics like scotch eggs, Shepards pie and sausage rolls. All good food. It's a good spot for a sit down lunch downtown. For the area the prices are fair. I've heard the nightlife here is pretty popping too, gotta come on a weekend and see how it is. read more

Bar review: We went for drinks and live music. The staff and bartenders were friendly, with thick Irish accents giving me nostalgic vibes of when we lived in Dublin. Guinness and Jameson tasted like we were in City Centre, not the usual drafts and pours we get on the west coast. The food looked incredible and authentic but we had already eaten elsewhere. The clientele is weirdly split however and the two dominant personalities don't mesh. It's strange to see a segregated bar distinguished by economic divide in a city of such diverse population. To the folks on the restaurant side of the bar, clutching your drinks and fragile egos: other people live here too. If they want to dance and enjoy the live music, move over. Live music is meant to be enjoyed. There's plenty of space to socialize without turning your backs to the band and taking up the area where others who want to listen and support. On a Sunday noon, I went to The Dubliner, determined to have a Sunday roast and pretend to be in the British Isles. Because the establishment aired a soccer game, it had few seats available; I managed to get a small table not facing any sportsball screens. To share with a friend, I ordered the scotch egg ($8) and the Shepard's pie ($18). For myself, I ordered the Sunday roast ($28). The scotch egg arrived with a jammy, softboiled yolk. The accompanying sauce, at first glance, looked savory. However, it turned out slightly sweet, with a flavor resembling applesauce, albeit without the American insistence on turning it into a one-way-ticket to diabetes. The Shepard's pie proved savory, homely, and irresistible. The mashed potatoes - slightly crisped on the surface but fluffy otherwise, provided texture contrast. The lamb filling, while savory, did not seem heavy or gamey. The Sunday roast arrived with slices of roast beef, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, and gravy. The cabbage and carrots had sat a bit and cooled, unfortunately. Otherwise, the dish proved delicious. The gravy had noticeable amounts of Worcestershire sauce, granting complexity and depth without compromising on the savoriness. The roast potatoes, with the crispy outer crust and fluffy interior, looked straight out of a Serious Eats / Kenji Lopez-Alt recipe. The horseradish cream, less strong than straight horseradish, had its flavor tuned almost perfectly to be smeared on the roast with a butter knife. read more

The atmosphere was spot on authentic and we arrived during a trad session that just melted my Irish-loving heart. 5 stars for the whiskey selection! Went to this place on a suggestion from my nephew and man it did not disappoint. Walking by you would think it was just like any normal Irish pub but this place is something else. Of course had to get the pint of Guinness which never disappoints. Food wise we had the pigs in a blanket appetizer that was straight fire and that mustard dipping sauce had a nice kick. For the mains I got the beef Guinness pie and wife had the fish and chips. The curry dipping sauce you get with the fish and chips mixed with the Qatar sauce was like no other weird but perfect combo and the fish was perfectly fried and just delicious. Maybe an exit basket as germ phobic people now don't like touching door handles . The soap and dispensers should be non touch types now adays... I don't want touching germs potential on door handle when I am going back to seat to eat and handle a sandwich ... Floor was visibly nasty ... I've used restrooms in mineral mines , steel mill factories , and worse ; so I am not a dainty type. Maybe just an off night as always in past never a mention by me.
