What a wonderful place to start off a Boston weekend! We had just arrived from the airport looking for a quick bite. Sweeney's was a short walk. They sat a table of 6 immediately and the atmosphere inside was great. They had large tvs playing random sports but it was still a vibe. The New England clam chowder.... Let me tell you. This was some of the best chowder I have ever had. The fresh clams and baked sourdough were a fantastic touch. And a hefty portion as well. The Guinness braised short ribs complimented my comfort dinner very nicely. Shaved onions at the top were a great touch. Overall, the staff was very accommodating for a larger party, and the food came out fairly quickly for a decently busy Thursday night. Would highly recommend if you're in the area! read more

Sweeneys is located in the Lenox Hotel in Boston. Came here for brunch and had very good food, my favorite being the Duxbury Clams. Had some great Maine Potato Skins as well. Not the typical potato skins as these had the meat of the potato placed right back in and it was so good. Chicken wings and clam chowder were equally as good. The waitress, Laura, was extremely accommodating because the person who initially made the the reservation was an hour late and she was patient. We decided to proceed to order our dishes and no one rushed us to order. Definitely visit. You won't be disappointed! read more

Came here our first night in Boston and well if you didn't know Boylston is quite roudy. The inside is blasting music and definitely pub vibes the patio is street noise vibes. We started with the Potato Skins and wowza so good. Next we split the fish and chips. The claimed was big enough for three but it's like one big piece of fish and once you start cutting it's messy. I would not share. The chips on this were so good. If a chip and fry had a baby it would be these. Waitress was good and attentive. I wish I came for Sunday Roast later in the week. By our I my dad, my mom, and my brother The food was tremendous because me and my brother got juicy burgers with melted cheese, while my dad got fish and chips and my mom got the buffalo chicken sandwich. Our server, Sebastian was everything we could have asked for. He checked up on us and he would refill our drinks and ask us how we were doing. Overall Sweeney's was a great choice on a Friday night in Boston. It was a pub atmosphere so it can get a little loud, but it wasn't a problem for us. Recommended. read more

Sweeney's was suggested to us by front desk staff at our hotel. The staff at Sweeney's was top notch. They found us a table on a very busy World Cup watching night. The food was okay. We ordered the buffalo chicken wings, the Guinness sliders and the roasted Brussel sprouts. The wings and the sliders were good. The Brussel sprouts were disappointing. They were supposed to be roasted with apples and pork belly. The sprouts were undercooked and the apple chunks were the size of the larger sprouts. The dish was topped with an aioli that wasn't necessary. Overall we enjoyed the experience and found it to be a solid recommendation. read more

This small Irish pub nestled in the Lenox hotel did not disappoint! We were weary of the menu given some of the lackluster Irish places we have been recently, but the staff were so friendly and the drinks well-poured, we decided to try some of the food. The potato skins were huge and full of cheese and bacon lardons. The short rib sliders stole the show with deep flavor and juicy meat. Sweeney's is the absolute best! I reached out to them about hosting an event for a large group, and they were so accommodating with the planning process. I was planning this academic event from across the country, and they were so helpful from the jump. When I arrived today, everything was even better than I'd imagined. The service provided by the staff was truly above and beyond. The space was perfect, and food was delicious as well. Everyone raved about it, and we kept ordering more platters because people wanted second and third helpings :) Great vibes, amazing food and service, perfect central location. It's one of the best places to eat in Boston, and I don't say that lightly! The menu features Irish cuisine, and the food is absolutely delicious. I don't often find many Irish curry options in Boston, but theirs definitely keep me coming back--though their sandwiches are a must! The improvement in food quality has been a delightful surprise. Giving this a 3 out of 5. We were recommended this place by locals. Food was good, ambiance was a exactly what I'd expect for a Pub, but service was pretty bleak. Poor server didn't speak much English and was having a hard time understanding our questions we had regarding the menu. Food is definitely high-priced for what you are getting, but this place is connected to the Lennox Hotel--so consider hotel-priced food. I'd suggest this place more for a beer/drink vs REAL pub food. We went to the Irving next door in the same hotel (there are 3 restaurant/bars in this hotel) for a nightcap and had a much better experience. And they have most of the same menu there too! Had we known, we would have just ate and drank at the Irving. read more

Strange layout, really only good seats are the front side of the bar. Very hard to get the bartender's attention for drinks and not a friendly bartender. Guinness is expensive but watery. Good location but otherwise not a spot you need to rush to. read more

Love this place. When work sends me to the Westin Copley Place I know where I'm going for great service and good food. The Guinness is just the cherry on top. I have been there several times and it never disappoints. I've tried several different items on the menu and all were delicious. read more

Meh, the atmosphere was fine but it was ruined after my drink came when I ordered a premium neat kettle one. It's distinctive and yet they gave me something from the well. Would love to put 5 stars but with this new menu change I cannot. This is a late night industry watering hole. To take the Quesadilla, chicken fingers and the fries off is just sad, it's been replaced with a $30 burger and pizza. This new menu is deeply disappointing. Welcome to the neighborhood Sweeney's!! I used to frequent Sola's whenever I was in the Back Bay so I was sad to hear they were changing ownership. However I stopped in after work last week to check out Sweeney's and it is just as welcoming as before, glad to see some of my favorite faces were still serving me pints behind the bar! You can't beat the staff there and I was pleasantly surprised with the new menu offerings. I love the Irish influence in the cuisine. It is a must see if you ever find yourself looking for some comfort food and a cold Guinness! read more
