Very good We came here on a Tuesday evening, lured by the notice that they had won the Gold Medal for a Boston Clam Chowder Contest. We were seated quickly by our waitress. She was friendly and helped us pick some of the more popular meals - and of course, their clam chowder. The chowder came out first and it definitely deserved accolades. It was creamy, thick, with clam, potatoes, bits of bacon and other goodies that made it so tasty. We ordered the Steak tips with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The steak was well prepared, with a sweet marinade, a bit watery mashed potatoes but with good flavor and I believe the asparagus was grilled. The salad had a ton of toppings, which makes a salad so good. The apples were grilled which was a bit unexpected, but the salad as a whole was very tasty. This restaurant has quite a lineup of cocktails, drinks and wine. There are lots of TV's and just about all their seating is booths, or barstools up to a bar. It was an enjoyable space. read more

Great bar and grill in the financial district, not far from the water front. Dark but friendly interior. Chowder was excellent, mostly clam and potato, great flavor. Potato skins were crisp, not too much cheese. I had the fish tacos - fair amount of fish, but crisp, good seasoning and toppings. Drinks were good, reasonably priced. Service was mostly good, until a very large group came into the bar area, after which time our server didn't stop by much anymore. All in all, good experience, great atmosphere and food / drinks. Went in around 3PM on Saturday 10/11 while showing an out-of-town friend around the city. We wanted to eat before the Bruins game and I thought staying a couple of blocks away from the busier streets would get us a place to sit and some good food. Broadside did not disappoint! One of hands down the best steak tips I've been able to get in the city!!! A nice little pub with some damn good food. Staff are all very sweet and attentive. The vibes are good and quiet at least when I've been in. I usually just do mashed potato's with my tips ( damn good mash too!!) I've been back multiple times and it is the best thing a restaurant can be: CONSISTENTLY good. The steak is always cooked like a dream! Medium rare and SO juicy but well seasoned and lightly blackened a bit on the outside. Creamy but clearly homemade mash. Good beer. What more could I need? I'm a simple girl. One of the best meal discoveries during our short trip to Boston. We had just finished our booze cruise and wanted something to eat . We got in yelp to see where we could was close and randomly chose this spot ---it was hopping busy, filled with locals ---always a good sign ----and we buckled up for a good meal and not disappointed . Stopped at Broadside Tavern with some coworkers while in town and found it to be a nice place to spend some time near where I was staying. I can see why, from the vibe and space, that it can get busy. Has a great neighborhood bar feel. While we all had designs on getting full meals, we ended up mostly getting an assortment of appetizers that filled us up. I've not had a lot of clam chowder, but figured that Boston was a great place to change that. After seeing their menu note that their chowder has won awards, I decided to start there. It was very good, and made me want to have it again. The other appetizers we had were good, but unspectacular. Typical of easy appetizers you get with a group to make sure everyone gets something with choices. The batter is thin and not super crispy, but the accompanying tartar sauce and cole slaw were good. Very large pretty bar, booths and tables are also available. Many liquors, reasonably priced beers, and wines. Stopped by on the July 4th holiday as I was wandering the city- wanted to grab a bite to eat and watch the Sox game. They had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I chose indoor since it was hot outside and I wanted to watch the game. Good access to TV's at the bar and in the dining area. We had our first meal in Boston here since it was close to our hotel and we heard they had award-winning clam chowder. The chowder did not disappoint. We'd give it a 4 out of 5. It was flavorful, had bacon, and wasn't too heavy. We also ordered a kids burger and the fried pickle burger. Both were fine but could've used a little more seasoning. Our waitress was really sweet, but we did have to flag her down a couple of times when we needed something. Not sure if they were short-staffed or what, but the service felt a little flat, more because of how often we saw her, not because of the quality of the interaction. As for the ambience, there wasn't anything particularly special going on for a Sunday evening, but it was decent overall. My mistake!! I ordered a Greek salad. The fact that they didn't have Kalamata olives should have been my first clue. The salad was horrible. Greek? The Greeks should be offended by this salad. For comparison, a proper Greek salad would have the following ingredients: cucumbers, tomatoes, Kalamata olives, feta cheese, olive oil, vinegar, oregano and a few other seasonings. THIS did not come close. The chefs "interpretation" isn't on the same continent. As for any other items, I will never know. On the flip side, the service was really great. Attentive to be sure. I enjoyed the local beer The food was just ok. My friend liked her fish and chips. My nachos were disappointing. I will order the waffle fries every time I come here. Fantastic. I mean I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap too but meh. MOAR FRIES. It was only $12 or so for the wrap with FRIES and a pickle. Great price. This is a nice, clean establishment with a somewhat dark decor that works well. Also lots of TVs at the bar and around the walls, which is nice. Service was good to boot. Came into this nifty bar after getting a beard trim right across the street for some week night beers. Ordered some mozzy sticks for an appetizer & they were quite delectable. They have one of those touchtune juke boxes so you can hijack it with your phone & play any & all music you want. Everything was very clean in here & the bartender(s) were quick on the draw & making certain we never went more than a few seconds with an empty drink in front of us. Its also in a fanfuckingtastic location next to all kinds of other good places & tourist type shit. It was not at all busy when we were here so that may have added to quick & friendly service but I definitely hope to be back, only complaint would be they could have more tv's in there but other than that its a great bar. read more

The bartender with the Irish accent poured me a nice Guinness the proper way and I took a sip while reviewing the menu. I also looked over the Yelp reviews. Hello, "Chicken Milanesa." Yes, that's what I decided to order along with a bowl of clam chowder. The soup didn't take long. Served very hot, it was tasty and delicious. A little peppery but loaded with solid stuff and yummy. Main course arrived not too long after. A good portion of chicken, served on top of a bed of greens. The potatoes? Boring. The chicken? Cooked perfectly, nice and crispy, plenty of capers and flavor. Great place for a drink after work, the bar gets busy on weekdays, but seating for dinner doesn't seem to be an issue which was good. We stopped in for drinks and apps so didn't try much in the way of a full meal, but the service was quick, friendly and attentive - no complaints there. The beer selection was pretty good, I liked the couple of seasonal options they had. The pretzels were hot and came with room temperature cheese and mustard - pretty standard, but good overall. The nachos were very crunchy but could have used more toppings. I think they layered everything because once we got to the bottom of the place all the cheese was on a just a few chips. Although we did get them with chicken on top and that was charred and juicy - makes me think that a full meal would be tasty here.
