Love this place. When I'm here, I forget Boston exists on the outside as I'm culturally brought into a new world. I feel like I'm in Ireland here. It's homely, welcoming, and I feel included. Last went here during the Red Bull Heavy Metal event that was happening at City Hall. Place was packed. We had the best Irish coffees and were able to get a table despite the crowd. I love the attention to detail this place puts regarding its decorative wood around the bar, the lighting, life music, and more. Great place to have a drink. Yes, I think the food could improve a bit - maybe some nice club sandwiches or vary the food offerings, but overall love this place.
We were a table of 7, and unfortunately the service really fell short. After our initial drinks and food order, we barely saw our server again. We kept trying to make eye contact, but it didn't work~eventually we had to wave someone down. Even then, the response from the bar felt like it was an inconvenience just to send our server over. That said, the food was mostly good. The bangers & mash and the burger were spot on. However, the "Taste of Ireland" pies were disappointing~2 in particular missed the mark. The shepherd's pie had no mince (just potatoes and peas), & the Guinness pie was more like a beef stew than a proper pie. Overall, some strong dishes, but the service and a few key items would make me hesitate to return.

We were seated right away even though it was packed--there's both standing room and table service. I ordered the beef and Guinness pie which I really enjoyed. It was flavorful and the crust was good. The infused beer was awesome. Mashed potatoes were great too, peas weren't my favorite but they were good. We split an Irish coffee after which we were excited to try but it was just so strong...I was glad to have tried it though. Overall solid historical place in the heart of Boston, can't beat it.
Came for dinner around 7 o'clock on a Saturday. That's right before everything apparently gets insane! The food was very good and highly recommended, the staff was great considering how busy the pub became. Despite being nowhere to walk or move, we got consistent refills on our drinks. At least on Saturday night, it's extremely busy and very loud. Other nights might be more suited for dinner, but we will definitely come back if we're ever in Boston.
AMAZING pub and service - They sat us right at the table in the window (which was also so thoughtful, bc we had all our luggage with us and were trying to sneak one last bite in before our flight). Pub is gorgeous- dark wood, great energy, good smells, transported me back to County Mayo, Ireland. I had their brat special with the pint which was DELICIOUS and a great pairing for only $15! Bestie has bangers and mash which she said were spot on. Boyfriend had the taste of Ireland - Beef and Guinness stew, Chicken Pot Pie (he said was a bit sweet for his taste), and Shepards Pie. Emmets did not miss a BEAT- When I say everything was delicious, I'm sayin it with my chest.

Amazing experience at Emmett's. The atmosphere was great, the service was great, and the food was great. We had the fried pickles and nachos and they were both a good size and very good. Had the fish and chips and they were honestly the best fish and chips I've had. Not greasy at all, so tasty. I tried the curry too and that was very good.
Second visit to the pub! Came primarily for the atmosphere and the drinks. Nourishing and restorative pub food, and service with a smile. A little too loud for my taste - we couldn't have a conversation (needed to shout to hear each other). If a member of staff is reading this, please do turn down the music a bit!
This place is casual, fun, and has all the Irish classics, such as the Taste of Ireland which was so fun, with shepherds pie, chicken pot pie, and a beef stew, and of course has some good beer. We loved their fish and chips. Possibly one of the best I've ever had. Crispy batter, fresh cod, generous portion, great fries, tasty tartar sauce. Can't go wrong with that one. Staff was very nice, and they had a special milk cup for kids which we really appreciated since we have a toddler. Great place to watch a game, have a pint, or hang out with friends or family.
Great time at this small authentic Irish pub just off the Boston Common. Family friendly (at least for lunch!) with traditional kids menu for the little ones and great tasting traditional food for the adults. Paired with some Guiness and what's not to love!

I ate here with a couple friends on my recent trip to Boston and it was fine. Overall the food was solid - I had the Fish and Chips and also tried the clam chowder. The portion sizes were good and the Fish and Chips tasted really fresh. The restaurant definitely feels like an Irish Pub, from all the wall decor to the dark interior. The staff was okay. They were not overly friendly and we had to keep asking for refills to our water. Maybe we just caught them on a off day. They also did not have the wine I asked for from the menu. Overall our experience was not overly bad, but didn't blow me away either. I don't think this is a bad option if you are specifically looking for an irish pub to eat at as the menu had a lot of great options, but this also isn't the type of place I would go out of my way to eat at again. read more
went to this irish pub in downtown for their guinness. the interior of the pub is definitely very irish, there's an irish pub singer right in the front so it really adds to the ambiance. we ordered the french onion soup amongst others. service was alright, they weren't super nice or attentive but not mean either. read more

After spending a decent amount of time researching Irish food in Boston, we settled on Emmets Irish Pub. My first impression was the restaurant looks like a genuine pub with a dark and cozy atmosphere. It was busy on a Sunday, but we did end up finding a table quickly. The place is small, but there's enough room to get around. I noticed several drinks on tap and a decent size menu. At $20, the Taste of Ireland is what we both got. I recommend this, because you get three different small portions to get an idea of what Irish food is all about. Out of the three, the Guinness beef soup was both our favorite. It's very flavorful, unique, and the beef was tender. The other two were great, just the Guinness beef soup really stood out. The bread that came with the entrees was fresh and delicious. Service was good. A little slow for getting minor things, like water, but it's understandable in a pub environment. Overall, one of our favorites spots while visiting Boston, and one I would definitely come back to in the future. If you never had Irish food, check Emmetts out! If you have had Irish food, check them out! read more

Very delicious food! Super dark restaurant, like a typical Irish pub. Quick waitress. The chicken pot pie and bread that came with it were so good. The pot pie was on the sweeter side, but it worked! The steak bites, mashed potatoes, and clam chowder were also all delicious! read more
YES YES YES to this Irish Pub. The Irish Stew Is The Star! I'm gonna say that this place is Historic To The Area... It's got really good vibes and all the people that frequent this fine establishment make the place. They are all so friendly. Was at the park & wanted a late lunch close by. Stopped in here after perusing the menu and seeing that they had a few veggie options. Walked in and the ambiance was fantastic. It was packed, but there were some fiddlers in the front playing Irish music the whole time which really added to the experience. I ended up getting the veggie burger & it was very mediocre. It came with fries & was very filling, but nothing special. If I came back here, I'd maybe try the burrata salad instead. My friend got the ham & cheese toastie which came with tomato soup. She had the same opinion as myself- not bad but definitely nothing special. Very affordable drinks and music is probably what draws people in. Nice staff, very busy. read more

Great place to stop for a vibrant atmosphere, great drinks, great food and very fast and attentive service. We ordered whisky sours to start and they were made perfectly - not too sweet. I loved the Shepherds pie that came out piping hot. My husband enjoyed his Guinness beef stew. I also tasted it and I agreed. I appreciated the large chunks of vegetables. The portion was huge and it was very rich so order this if you're very hungry, plan to share or if you don't mind taking leftovers home. Our children thought the French onion soup was excellent. My son enjoyed the thick layer of delicious cheese on top. We had sides of French fries and they were wonderful. They were thick cut and double fried with a thick crispy outer crust. This is an excellent place to come for well made comfort food. read more
A great Irish Pub. Six of us showed up for lunch on a busy Saturday. The ambiance was great with Celtic ballads playing in the background and lots of local color. Service was great despite it being busy. The servers did their best to quickly get you food and drink with a smile. The food was great. We got the nachos to share followed by salads with salmon or Sirloin tips, fish and chips, and burgers. Everything tasted great and the portion size was perfect. They also poured a hell of a pint of Guinness and had a good selection of whiskeys to go with it. Give it a try next time you're in the area read more

Perfect stop at just the right time. Stopped by after getting crabby about school buses dropping off too many kids while we were touring freedom trail. The sign said best Irish coffee and tempted us in. The bartender was really cute and sweet. She was here from Ireland and felt very authentic. read more

Seems like a classic Boston Irish joint. The venue is very nostalgic and feels very authentic. I have been to Dublin and Galway and I can say that thankfully the food here is a tastier version. I tried the sample platter. The Shepards pie was on point, the Guinness stew was good, and the chicken pot pie was forgettable...too creamy. read more

This place is great! My ham sandwich was very good! My husband got the clam chowder with fish sandwich. He stated it was good. The clam chowder needed for salt for my liking so I added more. My daughter had butter noodles and she likes it. The Irish coffee taste good & my husband got a old fashion. The bathrooms were clean and stocked. The waitress was attentive and nice.
