I honestly can't believe I never reviewed this place before. I mean, I definitely was Yelping the last time I ate here. But I guess I just overlooked it. Ah, well. Let's review. The 99 and I have quite the history. You see, I've actually been going to this restaurant since I was a kid. Although, one thing I noticed as I sat at the bar was apparently they no longer offer the cheese and crackers at the beginning of your meal; just the popcorn. Since I didn't feel like getting bits of kernel stuck in my teeth, I opted out of that this time. Still, there has always been a certain charm to their preamble of snack choices before the meal. What I've always been a fan of is a good old fashioned fish n' chips plate. And this one does not disappoint, in my humble opinion. Cod was perfectly cooked and flaked like it should. The tartar sauce is always a delight, as are the fries. Naturally, I sat at the bar since I was alone and the service was stellar. I can tell the folks here (at least at this part of the restaurant anyway) really enjoy their occupation. Easily worthy of the 25% tip. 99 has a certain rustic charm to it. If you've never been, the best way I can describe it is....what Applebee's used to be like back in the 90s. Only 99 never really lost their way like so many other chain restaurants. Perhaps it's because this place is mainly indigenous to the New England area. In any case, it seems like places that aren't nationwide have a better attention span to maintain their themes, recipes and whatnot. Bottom line: coming here will always take me back to my youth and I am eternally grateful they haven't totally lost their way. Can't really say that for all the places I used to visit around here. Have had some decent meals there and some I would not eat. I mainly go because the bar staff is awesome. Tonight I ordered the burger and fries. Ate the fries first, the salt was not spared, I like it but due to BP I do not salt fries. The took one bite of the burger and it was like a Bubba burger. I gave a piece to my wife and she agreed. I don't buy Bubba burgers because they are disgusting. I left it, the bartender credited the bill without me asking. I know it is the corporate idea to save money but unless they go back to serving quality food I don't plan on going there for a while. I would rather pay better quality. Upon entering the establishment we were greeted right away and sat down in a very clean area with a clean table . We ordered the highly recommended steak tips king sized and omg were they delicious. They were perfectly cooked and very well seasoned. Flavored all the way through with every chew. My Shirley Temple was awesome and so was the Mango Mai Tai but the real star lwas our server Lexi what an attentive, talkative and funny server. She was so awesome always asking if the food was good, checking our drinks making sure they weren't empty. After the bill was paid we were talking to Lexi and found out she was the only server on at that time. WOW she kept up with all the guests that were there. If The 99 only new what a great and special server they have with Lexi. Highly recommend going to any of the 99's and if you go to the Manchester, NH one make sure you ask for Lexi you will love her. read more

I walked out of the one on Amherst Street in Nashua. It smells so musty in there I couldn't stay to eat.

Service was good. Waitress was a real nice young lady. Food was "Not Good" They advertise certain meals and don't have them to offer. I've traveled to NH, seven times since July for business = to about 3 weeks. This is the worst food I've experienced. Lighting is great, drinks are probably good if I was to drink. I find this is our go to restaurant in the city. If we are ever looking for take out or eating out we usually go here. You get quality food and quality service, and it's not insanely expensive. The atmosphere is always great with sports on in every corner. Overall I would recommend their burgers, but in reality all their food seems worth while, it's just a simple place to eat. read more

There is a lot of places in Manchester by my office to go for lunch and this 99 has taken the cake as my favorite lunchtime choice . The efficiency , quality and prices of the food all align perfectly for an excellent lunch time experience. I really appreciated Shannon the bartender who was very efficient and quick to bring drinks and food along with the check as she knew we had limited time on lunch. With the 99 you really can't go wrong with anything on the 9.99 real meal specials menu along with the lunch specials. A personal favorite of mine is either the chicken parm, buffalo tenders or the Classic burger all that come out quickly and are filling. Another excellent thing about this place is the 2.29 bud light select drafts all day everyday along with the extensive list of beers on draft. I eat at the 99's frequently, and the food and service is usually good. Today, Sunday, I took my son, to the S. Willow St location, about 1:30. We sat at the bar. Kaylee and Shannon were the bartenders. I suppose if we were drinking alcohol, we may have been treated better, but we were drinking coffee. Kaylee dropped off a few creamers and a half empty holder with a couple of sugars. I asked for more cream and sugar and got the look...like I was bothering her. Thought it was me, so I let it go. She refilled everyone's drinks, but never asked us. We had to flag her over to place our order. She walked away so fast we didn't get to ask for more coffee. When we finally got her attention for coffee, she didn't bring more cream and sugar. This was becoming a chore. Finally flagged over Shannon to bring us more cream. Felt like we needed to apologize for the inconvenience. All this before our meals even came. And they weren't even all that busy. They were chatting up everyone else, but didn't check back to see how our food was, or ask us if we wanted anything else to drink...some water or ice tea would have been nice. Especially when they asked the guy next to us if he wanted more water. Worst service I've ever had. And I am a former bar tender and restaurant owner. The ONLY reason I'm giving 2 stars is because we like the food. It would do them well to remember that the service industry relies on tips and if the customer leaves unhappy, the tip will reflect that. read more

All I have to say is food was great service was great until... An older gentleman in his 70s seemed to have some slight mental disabilities sitting at the bar getting walked by and completely ignored by the bartender until he got up and left. As soon as he left the building, the bartender walked back to where he was sitting and snickered and wiped the bar top. I spoke up and stated that the guy was sitting there for 10 minutes and was completely ignored. She then turned to me and said she knew and they don't like to serve him because smells and she can't understand what he says when he speaks. Then a regular at the bar steps up and says if you want to go chase him down in the parking lot and make him your buddy, I'll buy you both drinks as the staff and others laughed. Calls me out for not being a regular here! Not only am I not a regular here , I will never come back to this 99 or any others! The tolerance for multiple employees laughing and multiple people at the bar pushing this guy out of the restaurant making him feel unwanted and like a piece of Shit upsets me. My first impression of the hostess tonight (Molly?) was that she was rude when we called to be put on the wait list. She was BEYOND rude when we checked in. She told another employee who had checked us in that 'she' was "going to have to wait", that there wasn't a clean table for 'her', I was standing right in front of her. Her tone and demeanor was snotty and put out. She pointed at another guest whose table was ready and said, "Follow." Even my teenager daughters thought she was rude. If this young woman is your first impression, you should know it's not a friendly, welcoming one. Our servers name was Susan, and she could not have been nicer. Our food was mediocre. Went in this afternoon after work. Ordered the potato skin appetizer, fried chicken dinner and a beer. Potato skins were tough. The fried chicken tasted like a previously frozen chicken patty and was quite salty. The mashed potatoes were okay and so was the white gravy. I doubt anything was homemade. $24.00 for subpar food. First off my Trailer park waitress was such a downer, her nails were long like Unprofessionally long (AND DIRTY).. Then she took an hour between everytime she came to our table & everytime she did she didnt bring what was requested. Had dinner on a Saturday night. Surprisingly few people in the restaurant at 7:30 pm. Meal was very good as was the service. However when we were leaving I left my wallet laying on the table. When checking into the hotel less than five minutes later I realized what I had done and the hotel called the restaurant. The restaurant manager said that they had found the wallet. I said I would pick it up directly and five minutes later I was back at the restaurant. The manager said the waiter had found it and turned it in. He returned the wallet minus the $220 cash that had been inside. Police were called, but the money was not returned. I picked this place for a take-out dinner. I won't do it again. Calling and placing my order was quick and easy, although I wanted to do it online. No worries. I arrived at the restaurant, and saw "to-go" parking. The sign said, "Please wait here." So I did... for about 10 minutes. Finally, I went in. There was no one at the hostess stand. I looked and I saw two workers laughing and having a conversation. I looked the other way, at the bar, and I found the barmaid. She was gruff, but efficient. I got my bag of food and left. The loveliest thing you can find is that the food container was placed in the bag upside down or sideways. Mine was standing on end, so my lobster roll, cole slaw and fries were all over the place when I got them unpacked. The food itself was unremarkable. It wasn't terrible, but terribly bland. They have a wide variety of dishes that the change up according to the season. and their prices are reasonable. I won't suggest going by this review for all 99 restaurant locations though. My sister and I chose 2 different fish entrees. Hers had bones in it so we told the waitress. She didn't want it swapped, she just wanted to warn them for other patrons. The waitress said she would tell the kitchen manager. No one came to speak to us and the waitress didn't say another word about it. The food was mediocre except the lobster roll which ended up being the best thing that was ordered. My caeser salad had a lot of bad leaves in it so I ended up leaving half of it in the plate. We usually visit this Ninety Nine when we are in town overnight before an early morning flight. As usual, we were greeted in a friendly manner and taken to a booth where our server promptly arrived. Gave our beverage orders and perused the extensive menu. Everything sounded yummy, but we stuck with what we typically order when we go there, top sirloin steak! I had mine with mashed potatoes and carrots and my husband had mashed potatoes and a salad big enough to share with his. The carrots were very bland, but everything else was wonderful. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the mashed potatoes were absolutely delicious. Servings were more than ample, especially for the price! Our server was very efficient and prompt with getting our beverages and food to us. She also checked to make sure things were good, but didn't hover. I'm sure we will return to this location the next time we have an overnight stay in Manchester. It hasn't failed us yet! read more

This place is great. I have been here many many times and I have to say this is probably the best 99 in the area. They have the best nachos, service is great in the bar area only Based on the price you get what you pay for which is a good thing. Lots of beers on tap. There is however one waitress that likes to overload herself with perfume which is so strong it makes you gag.. Waitress are hit or miss, most are very good. Id say about 2% are not. Also the manger of this place is super lazy. Walked in the night there was the playoff NFL game and sat at the podium waiting for someone to seat us. Waited at least 5 min and nobody. Then she comes over doesn't say sorry for the wait and sits us at a dirty table in the back of the bar. There was food all over the floor and after she seated us just watched the game. HINT: Do your job you're the manager make sure someone is there to greet when they walk in! Not too bad for a chain restaurant. One here in Manchester had a very friendly staff. I ordered the turkey burger because I happened to be on a health kick while I was here.
