I haven't been in over a decade so I ordered the eggplant/chicken parm combo I got and loved last time. Unlike last time, I wasn't particularly impressed. It was fine, just nothing special. Hubby had ciopino, and reported it was good, but he's inclined to try something different if we go back. Someone else ordered Soup and declared it was fabulous. The food was good, service was good. I don't recommend this restaurant because when bottles of wine were ordered for our table of seven, the glasses on the tray were filthy. The waitsperson proceeded to poor the wine amidst several of our table questioning why the glasses were so dirty. She actually asked us if we wanted her to take them back and "polish" them. She did take them back, but they were still unclean when she returned. I shudder to think what our plates looked like before food was placed on them. I will never go back. read more

This is a great place for a patio lunch or dinner. It's on top of the Derry Rail walking trail too, so it's a nice place for a snack or drink after the trail. We came around 5ish on a Friday afternoon and the patio wasn't busy at all. Our server was top notch, on top of drink refills, very friendly and stayed close by the whole time. I was a big fan of the North End location. I don't know. It didn't super remind me of it but that is OK. It was good. Just not the nostalgia I anticipated. Place is decorated well, good for a romantic dinner. Service was A+. We liked our food but it wouldn't necessarily be a go-to. If friends wanted to go I'd go but I don't know that I'd seek it out. Had a chance to try this restaurant. The bartender was very nice and made a great drink. We ordered fried calamari--crispy, but it lacked that soft, fresh flavor. The shrimp scampi and spaghetti with meatballs were just okay, nothing special. The sauce tasted more like canned tomato than homemade. The biggest issue was the bill. Several prices didn't match what was on the menu. For example, the menu listed $29, but the bill showed $29.95. When we asked the bartenders, neither could explain why. Haven't been to this restaurant in over a year and it felt like a different place. Not sure if it is under different ownership. Ordered Shrimp Diavolo and got shrimp scampi. Had to ask for hot pepper flakes, the Asian pear martini was pink and tasted like sweet syrup (no pear flavor) and the Tiramisu was ice cold, hard and felt like the layers were held with glue ( horrible ). I love Sabatinos. The inside has a nice atmosphere and the service is always excellent - every server/hostess/busser I've interacted with here has been extremely gracious. We bring our baby every time and it's always a great experience. Definitely recommend going for the homemade pasta. Cioppino, shrimp scampi, arancini, eggplant rollatini, cannoli are all great. Cocktails tend to run sweet but that's a personal preference issue. The shrimp grand marnier also is not for me (quite sweet) but again that's a matter of taste! This is a fantastic restaurant and we very much enjoy the food. The chicken parm is a huge portion and typically enough to take some home. I like the chick and eggplant parm combo and that is a very filling dish. Only negative is that we were trying not to eat inside restaurants during peaks in COVID-19 cases and they are not doing takeout on busy nights. They also tend to run out of bread or dishes on a regular basis. Great spot with extremely friendly and attentive staff. read more

i ordered 4 party trays of food and was horrified when I took of the lid and found a large hair in two of my pasta dishes . Also I love salt and never complain about using to much of it . The eggplant was so salty that I had to throw the whole tray out . Never again ! read more

This is an update from my last review. The original owners I found out have sold. I went there to try it while in the area visiting. It is not the same. The red sauce is watery, the portions have gotten smaller and the prices have gone up. And I found out they charge 3% more for non cash sales. I have no issue with this but tell me first. Visited this Italian spot with my son and his fiancé. It is nestled in an old train station and the ambiance was cozy. The staff followed all COVID practices and plexiglas shields divided the tables. They begin with crusty bread with a soft chewy center which we dipped in an olive oil spice blend. For entrees we chose chicken piccata, spaghetti with meatballs, and cheese ravioli. All were scrumptious and in satisfactory portions. Was surprised that the piccata's chicken was breaded but it was still very tender and juicy. The prices were reasonable. This place presents as a place to have a nice dinner. The building looks as if it was a train depot/bus pickup, and is really nice. Service was fine-ish. Food left a lot to be desired. We both got steak tips. My husband ordered medium well, I ordered medium rare. He liked his, mine was completely raw. I ate the potatoes and peppers, but brought home the steak to recook. I ordered a martini, we both agreed it wasn't made right and I wouldn't order it again. I wasn't surprised that there was only one other table occupied when we got there, and when we left there were a total of 3 tables occupied. Not what you'd expect for a Saturday night. Sabatino's..... Where do I begin? We walked in and I kind of expected the same layout as the Depot Steak House with some cozy large tables and instead saw a room full of tiny wooden tables and chairs in one big room. Not exactly "cozy". On our way to being seated I saw dished coming out of the kitchen. I noticed an alfredo type dish that looked like it was swimming in alfredo. I knew not to order that. We were seated at a table. Now it's a Saturday night and many people were inside and out so was expecting the nominal wait as you would expect on a weekend. A waitress came over and took my drink order and our meal order. I asked if they could make Chicken Piccata as I didn't see anything else on the menu to my liking, and the waitress said they could make it even though it was not on the menu. Hubby ordered Veal Parmesan. No salads come with the meals. My Chicken Piccata was $21.00 and hubby Veal Parmesan $ 19.00. Slightly backwards priced from what you expect but non the less way too much for the crap I was served. A busboy brought some bread and oil. Bread was nothing special. Didn't seen to be baked on site just heated in the oven. Hubby was just going to ask for some water and the meals came out. I thought that was awfully quick seeing that it was a Saturday night. I have never seen meals come out so fast! The chicken in my Chicken Piccata was deep fried and tasted like dirty "grease". There was a ton of canned mushrooms and canned artichokes on the top and angel hair on the bottom. And there was no lemon flavor at all on the chicken whatsoever. I decided to go for the angel hair which tasted like nothing as well. And the angel hair was all stuck together. I don't have any idea where the lemon sauce was, as I tried all over the plate and still couldn't find it. I basically took 2 bites of chicken, and a few bites of tasteless angel hair and that was enough. That dish was not even worth eating the calories in it. I have posted a picture of how much I took home. I should have just left it there hoping someone would realize there was something wrong with it, but I highly doubt it. Hubby ate his Veal Parmesan but complained the whole way through that it wasn't very tender and the sauce tasted horrible. At least he could eat his. The bus boy came and took my plate away so the waitress didn't even have the chance to ask if there was something wrong with my meal. We just paid the $50.00 donation and left. On the way out I was going to tell the hostess my comments so she could let the management know but she was nowhere to be found. Another restaurant that takes your money and doesn't have anyone to ask how your meal was and wish you a good evening. It is obvious they have too many seats in the restaurant to accommodate all those people by preparing their dished properly and in a timely manner. They seem to be over their head. So instead, they short cut cooking of the meals. Deep fried Veal parmesan is something you would expect from a sub shop. Not an Italian "fine dining" establishment. The whole experience besides the food being horrible, was rushed. As though they wanted to hurry up and get you out of there so they could get someone else in your seat. You would expect that in Boston but not in Derry NH. The only thing they have going for them is the location on Derry's main street and the outdoor seating. I however, go to a restaurant for the delicious food. Coming from someone that travels as far as Hartford and Providence for Italian food, I'm telling you great Italian food is not here... What a disappointment this place was. I know when they were across the street, they had a horrible Yelp rating, but figured maybe things had changed since they moved across the street and they're Yelp reviews got better. FYI... Apparently they're food didn't! Birthday Celebration on 8/1/24 My first time dining at your restaurant.. Waitress was Horrible... Took our drink order and we waited along time for the Drinks.. She finally brought the drinks to the table and gave the wrong drinks to everyone and also spilled part of one while handing it across the table. She never wiped it up.. After we got out food she came back to ask if we wanted another drink which we did. 20 minutes later and no Drinks. She finally came back and asked if we still wanted the drinks? We said yes and still no drinks arrived.. I finally got up and went to the bar and asked the Bartender if he had our drink order? He said Yes and that he was BUSY...... prior to going to the bar he was wiping the bar down not making our drinks. Waitress seemed to have gotten lost somewhere int he restaurant. The waiter that was working spent more time coming to out table that she did.. He was Great.. I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana and the chicken was way over cooked as was the other order at the table... Finally the waitress came back after we finished eating and was trying to apologize for everything.. I'm guessing she was afraid her TIP was going to be bad... Went here for dinner tonight for the first time. Service was good. The antipasto was essentially just a salad with 4 slices of salami, not worth the $18. Had the special which was a lamb shank. It was good, not great. Sauce was thin and lacked flavor. The chicken franchaise was good. The ziti with marinara was again good but not great. Where to begin with this place. First off, let me say I truly understand the difficulties restaurants have faced with the COVID pandemic, but sadly this had nothing to do with the terrible service received during our experience there last night (one of the two inattentive hostesses consistently had her mask pulled beneath her chin). We walked into the restaurant around 5:45pm, the hostess (with the mask beneath her chin) was on the phone so she just looked at us and looked away. We had no clue what the other hostess was doing, but didn't give us the time of day. Tip: greet customers, even if you just say "be right with you" so we know what's up. Patiently, we waited behind a couple standing near the hostess stand, thinking they were waiting to put their name in. After realizing they weren't, we finally made our way over and put our name in. No indication as to how long the wait would be. No problem there...we are pretty patient. After about 15 minutes of waiting inside, one of the hostesses asked if we could wait outside. Sure, no problem. Funny how you had no problem communicating with us at this point, but we practically had to flag you down to put our name in. Now, I'm not sure if people had reservations or not, but I definitely saw others that came in after us get seated before us. Again, not saying anything at this point, still being patient. At about 7, one hostess finally came out and said your table is ready outside on the patio, they just need to clean it. Okay. Waited another 10-15 minutes until this was done! How long does it take to clean a table?! Finally, the two hostesses come out, we follow one, and the other (who's also walking with another group) says, " you are following me." So she does a zig-zag to get in front of us. Both of them end up seating us at a dark area in the parking spaces (right on the side of the patio). There was hardly any lighting out there (as it was already dark at this point) in our area... could barely see our table. Suggestion here: put lighting in this area or remove the tables! Got bread within 5 minutes (no oil or waters). Waited another good 15-20 minutes for the waitress to come to our table. She asked if we were waiting long....yes, quite long actually. She apologized, and said they were short-staffed and one of the ovens was out of commission. Okay...that stinks but we had no knowledge of this walking in. We ordered everything at once to speed up the process. We were hungry, and just wanted to get out of there. Surprisingly, the food came out super fast. Before the drinks though. Huh? My daughter received her drink with her meal...thankfully, in case I needed a sip to wash down my food. We asked for ketchup for my daughters meal...it never came. The food was bland, and definitely not worth the wait. I ended up taking my daughter to the car while my husband waited for the check. We will not be returning here. The only reason we waited was because of the time invested WAITING for a table. The majority of the experience was awful. Only good things were our waitress and the musician (who we have seen at the Colosseum in Windham...excellent food/service here!). Even the table next to us got up and just left. The other night, I noticed a new Italian restaurant that just opened up in Downtown Derry. I decided to have dinner at Sabatino's North last night. The place was fairly busy and loud with most of the tables filled. I sat myself at the bar, which had a large flat screen HDTV showing the Red Sox mounted high up. The dining area has high ceilings with small overhanging colorful stained glass lights and the goldenrod painted walls are nicely decorated. The dinner menu is a la carte and offers appetizers, soups, salads, pasta dishes, chicken, veal, seafood, steaks & chops, children's menu, and desserts. Beer, wine, cocktails and espresso are available from the bar. The prices here are moderate: dinner entrees ($12-$22) and appetizers ($7-$15). The owner (Joe) and the new bartender both waited on me throughout the meal. The complementary basket of bread served cold was thick and chewy and I dipped the bread into a very good mixture of olive oil and herbs. I started out with a bowl of Pasta Fagioli ($5), which was more like a hearty bean (cannelloni), pasta (ditalini), and thick tomato base soup. For dinner, the Lasagna ($13) was very good and very filling like a brick. The Lasagna was layered with noodles, cheese filling (ricotta), ground meat, and sweet tomato sauce and topped with more sweet tomato sauce, very similar to the way I make my homemade lasagna. Grated parmesan cheese was offered and sprinkled on the food. I perused the dessert menu ($5-$6), which offered vanilla ice cream, spumoni, cannoli, cheesecake, tiramisu and tartuffo. I chose the Lemon Tartuffo ($6), which was refreshing and sweet. For this visit, I had a very good meal (on the pricey side) and the service at the bar was good. The staff checked up on me, asked how the food was and if I needed anything else throughout the meal including refills of ice water. But the last visit that I went I was very disappointed in the way we were treated and also there was a table of 6 next to us and they had finished their dinner and we're sitting and chatting and we're finishing drinks when they were asked to leave. Excellent food every time. Wonderful service, too. Place gets kind of busy on the weekends, but they still manage to follow COVID guidelines and still make the experience fun and comfortable. My family and I have been here several times now. The only thing I haven't loved is the caprese salad. I prefer the tomatoes to be ripe and juicy, like vine ripened. The two times I ordered the caprese the tomatoes weren't very ripe. But their homemade pastas are amazing. Evert dish is delicious. read more

Came here for a Rehearsal dinner and being from the tristate area I am very particular about Italian food and I was very impressed. The servers were attentive and friendly and the bartenders could make you any drink you wanted. I had the moscato and red sangria both were great options. The house salad was delicious and the dressing was great. We had the food served family style and the pasta was delicious- just enough sauce not too overwhelming. Great atmosphere, we sat outside and even though it's on a main road it wasn't noticeable. Definitely will return the next time we come back to Derry! read more

I have never had a bad meal here. I've ordered the appetizer, the calamari, and I've ordered the Braccioletini as well as the stuffed chicken Parmigiana (which is amazing stuffed with ricotta cheese). The cocktails are perfectly made and the service is always friendly. There is outdoor entertainment in the warmer months and the patio is open for seating. The building has a lot of charm because it's the old train depot. I never have room for dessert but my boys always do so I bring home the chocolate lava cake which is always a big hit.
