First visit, 8 of us had a 6:30 reservation on a Friday night. There was maybe a 15 min wait for our table as prior patrons lingered. No problem, got a drink from the bar. Plenty of menu options- reasonably priced with good but not crazy portions. Everyone enjoyed their meals. My only complaint was the noise level from the full dining room made it hard to hear. Make an advanced reservation. Giabella's is very good and is very popular. Call ahead, even if you get the last minute urge. Giabella's is without a doubt the best Italian in New Hampshire. I would say it goes beyond bringing the North End of Boston to New Hampshire, it brings the best of your mother or grandmother's kitchen. The restaurant itself is spotlessly clean, and although it is not in a large spot, the tables are spaced out and for some reason it has an intimate feel in a buzzing restaurant with a good vibe. I tried one of their specialty martinis, and I was not disappointed. I also tried the recommended wine and was very happy. I am a food in Italian wine snob and both were great. Attention is paid to detail. The bread that came out before the meal was fresh and tasty. I had the eggplant and veal parm and Bella had the chicken Parm. Giabella’s - Best in NH - Italian Near Me - Londonderry, New Hampshire

Have been to the fairly new Giabella's Italian restaurant in Londonderry NH twice now. It is a very small restaurant so waiting would be expected especially on a weekend. It is a wide-open space with no booths. The first night, we were seated fairly quickly. We ordered drinks and a basket of Italian and Focaccia bread was brought over along with some spicy oil. The Focaccia (I assume was made in house) and spicy oil were very good. The Italian bread seemed to be a premade bread. We ordered our entrees; I had the Chicken Milanese and hubby Veal Parmesan. I have always thought of Milanese as a dish with salad and a lemon vinegarette, but this was a special and was described as with a lemon sauce which is right up my alley as I love Chicken Piccata. It took a little while for the entrees as they are cooked to order. The coating on my Chicken Milanese was falling off. I think it was dur to the very watery lemon broth the chicken was sitting in. Much too watery for my taste. It is too hard to eat without spilling the sauce all over your shirt, and has a tendency to take off the coating. There are no other options except pasta for sides, so I got Ziti. Really wasn't too eventful for me. I was hoping to see dishes on the menu that were above and beyond the norm you see at many Italian restaurants. Hubby loved his Veal Parmesan; said it was very tender and loved the sauce. He also got Ziti. Our waitress Caroline was very attentive. One thing we did notice is that the lady that's the owner was going to various tables. We thought that was a nice touch until she went to just about every table except ours. The restaurant does look like a lot of the patrons are people she knows, so she spent a lot of time with some people showing her things on her phone. The next night we were off to Pasquale's down the street. We noticed they were closed, so went back to Giabellas. We didn't wait very long for a table as it was pretty late. We ordered drinks. Just the Italian bread and spicy oil was brought over and when we asked about the Focaccia, they said they were out. I ordered the Chicken Marsala, hubby Chicken Parmesan. Again, the sauce on the Marsala was very watery. Chicken was not breaded, just pan fried, and came with Ziti. I think they may have something against butter in their sauces. Hubby's said his Chicken Parmesan was OK but the sauce was not the same as the night before. He said it was very bland. Our waiter Greer was very polite and attentive. The entire time we sat there the lady that is the owner went from table to table, chatting but all she was chatting with obviously knew her. She not only went to tables she knew, she sat down and joined them. In two nights we paid $160 to this restaurant for a nothing special experience. When the other poster said the restaurant was full of her followers she wasn't kidding. All that know her get a friendly hello and conversation, those that don't are ignored. Best in the state? I haven't been to every Italian restaurant in the state...but I'm willing to bet best in the state is an incorrect statement. All told the food is sub par...nothing special. But the lady owner's obnoxious and annoying behavior in the dining room was the icing on the cake. read more

The atmosphere, food and drinks were on point! We had homemade bread and olive oil to start. Then shared a prosciutto bruschetta app. which was very good, except I like the meat to be more thinly cut, chicken risotto, veal saltimbocca with home made fusilli pasta and Chicken Alfredo with ziti. were all a very plentiful and delicious dinners. We shared a piece of pistachio cream cake as well! It was recommended by our waitress. Very good! Cocktails and wine were reasonably priced and a good pour! Disappointed. This is my second time here hoping to get some good experience. But today just not the day. The server came and we order everything right away. The bread came and water. We need to ask for the dressing for the bread. if not then they wouldn't bring any. And that's it. Server no where to be found. The person who look like the owner walking around and talking to other customers. That's fine, but our server didn't bother to refill our water or at least inform that our food will take a while The other workers are all busy cleaning the utensils near the front We ended up having to wave at the staff and ask for it for Togo instead. At this point it's been 40-45 mins wait for our food. the ambiance is not fit to be a fine dining. It's more of a cluttered mess. I get that they just opened. Small, but I didn't feel cramped. Greeted by owner who was very nice. Didn't have to wait long. The food was decent. Not bad for Londonderry Italian. Red sauce a little bitter, but again, not bad. Chicken was cooked well and not dry at all. Portions were good for the cost. I truly only had one issue, and that was with our service. Our waitress, Liza, was very nice, but not professional. This is a very laid back atmosphere. For me, I prefer no fingers touching my straw where my mouth will be, refills, not having to chase down Someone to get, and I didn't like her leaning on our table while taking our order. My wife and I tried Giabella's on opening night and were very impressed. For appetizers we started with the crispy cauliflower and the homemade meatballs, both were excellent. Unfortunately no pictures as we dug right in, a little extra sauce on the cauliflower next trip will make it even better. For mains my wife had chicken broccoli Alfredo and I went with the shrimp fried Diablo extra spicy. The shrimp was very flavorful and to my delight the tails were already removed. As for dessert we had no room left to try, next time we shall do better! We will be back soon and definitely recommend the sangria. read more

Food was amazing. Drinks were incredible, great friendly service. Nice back round music just loud enough for us to talk. We sat at the bar, Lauren was our bartender. Very friendly. Robin stopped by and asked how everything was and when I was walking past the kitchen. Head Chef AJ asked if everything was good. That's amazing!! These people care about their customers. It was overall good. Staff attentive, picked up empty plates as they were passing by table and checked to see if we needed anything. We started out with the Tomato Brushetta, good, different, on soft Scali bread and whole small plum tonatoes as apposed to chopped tomatos on crisp bread. Ceasar salads were good, dressing was excellent. My husband had the Chicken & Brocolli Alfedo, said it was very good, plenty of chicken and tasty sauce. I had the Shrimp Scampi, plenty of shrimp but sauce could of had more garlic and lemon and less pasta. Oh and real grated cheese would of been nice. We will go back to try other dishes. My friend and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Gianella's this evening. We got there early...one other couple arrived before us. Once seated we received water, menu had our drinks ordered and bread was served. We ordered the arancini to share...they were so good, huge and the sauce was delicious! She's Italian and I'm married to an Italian so to say we have good sauce standards is an understatement. She's had the Chicken Saltinbocca with fresh pasta and I had the Chicken Parm with Angel hair. Hers looked so well seasoned and the chicken color was perfect. My chicken parm might be one of the best I've had. Again, the sauce ! The chicken was moist, pasta tasted well salted and again the sauce!! We could have sat for another hour and chatted but it was starting to fill up and we wanted others to enjoy too. The feel and vide of the restaurant was so nice and calming. Not loud or to "Italian". We will definitely be bringing our husbands back for a double date. We showed up at 4:15 on a Saturday without reservations expecting not to need one and that the place would be empty. However, we were lucky to get a table. The place was packed! And for good reason. Fantastic service, nice atmosphere, and the food is phenomenal. Fresh Bread was served with a spicy oil for dipping. Cesar Salad had a light dressing and was superb. Veal Parmesan had a crispy breading and was perfect as was the accompanying fresh pasta. Meatballs were also perfect. It's not everyday one gets excited about Broccoli, but it was delicious and covered in garlic butter. Wine was served in a goblet and was a very generous pour. Overall prices were super while the food rivaled many Boston North End eateries. Tiramisu was out of this world and made fresh in the restaurant. Overall a fantastic experience! read more

Giabella's aka Gilligan's Island (3 hour tour) We showed up yesterday at 6:38 to be met by a young girl who told us it would be about a 30 minute or less wait while writing our name on a scrap piece of paper with a lot of other names. An hour later I inquired "how much later would it be", only to be told by the owner, who apologized, and said as soon as the table of 6 left we would be seated. During this time other patrons showed up, waited a short time, and were seated.. Another 10 minutes went by and another member of our party went in to inquire with the young girl when the table would be ready, only to be given an attitude...Then as I was watching through the window while she was clearing the table, she started pointing, mimicking, and complaining to another server about us. It's not over yet. We were finally seated at the 6 seat table and the owner offered us the first drink on the house..Perfect, we're better now. Nope.. We were now asked to move because another party of 6 called and needed our table..Ok, we're accommodating, and moved. Now we're seated, and waited, and waited, and waited. Another 10 minutes went by, and a server shows up and takes our order..Yeah!!! Nope.. Another 25 minutes go by and our appetizers show up...Ok we're so hungry, they're gone, and another 15 minutes go by and the table is cleared..Now we're really hungry, anticipating our meals. Nope. In the meanwhile the party of 6 I mentioned, and another party of 2 shows up 30 minutes after us.. The clock is ticking on our meal, and clicking, and clicking. Now we see that the party of 6 and the party of 2 were served their meals, but not us..Once again we asked what's going on, and was told it would be soon...At this point we were done and asked the server to give us our meals to go. It's now 9:30, hence the reference to Gilligan's Island's 3 hour tour. I'm sorry, but this is not the owner's first rodeo once owning another restaurant in the area, and has a great local following, but she needs to reevaluate the situation. Have been here 4 times, and am 50/50 in those visits. Twice the food and experience was outstanding- like save the trip to the north end and come here good. The other two were pretty disappointing. The key is to go when they are not crowded or busy. Get a spot at the bar, come early, and your experience will be great. When busy the servers seem to have a lot going on- food has come out cold, drinks wrong, and not the best experience. But if you hit it when they are not jammed it has been great. Only been a handful of times and will go back- but only when not crowded. The Marsala and Parm are both great, as long as they are hot. The pork chop was not very good to be honest. Steak tips aren't worth the order. They make fresh fusilli pasta that is great- worth the up charge for it. Hopefully they fix the issues they have with a crowded house, especially since the food is great. Hope this is helpful. read more

Knowing the popularity of this place, we went to dinner a little early so we could be seated right away. From the hostess to our server to our conversation with the owner, our experience was top notch. My wife and I both ordered the chicken parm, which was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I don't know what they used to bread the chicken, but it definitely was tastier than any other chicken parm I've had in the past. (And the price was VERY reasonable.)
