The name of this restaurant reminds me of Teddy Ruxpin. Random and completely unrelated. Back on topic! The Ruxton is located at the inner harbor; so, if you are familiar with the area, you will know that you have to fight for parking (unless you park in a garage), valet may be a bit expensive, but the ambiance of the water and views may make it all worth it. The Ruxton is another addition to the Atlas Group, which has completely monopolized Baltimore's inner harbor. If you are familiar with the Atlas Group, you know their establishments are nothing short of good food and great customer service. The restaurant is quite large -- with what felt like separate rooms the further back you walked. We were seated immediately as we had a reservation. Food - we started with calamari and shrimp appetizer. It was good, but don't think I would get it again. I can say I've had better calamari. For my entree, I had a white fish (I forgot the name -- sorry). It was tasty, seasoned well and not overcooked. Would get it again. I also tried the crab cake; now, this was the star! Pure crab meat, no filler. Amazing! Drinks - I've been on a martini kick lately. I ordered an Espresso Martini. I like my Espresso Martinis with a mixture of Bailey's and Kahlua. The waiter said he would request it the way I liked it. Unfortunately, when the martini was brought to my table, I could already see by the color, that it was made incorrectly. Loved date night at The Ruxton! We came early (6:30 PM on a Sat) to snag a seat at the bar, which worked out perfectly. Darien, our bartender, gave us excellent recommendations and was so so warm. He made our evening special. We ordered a few cabs (very good), some bourbon cocktails and a gimlet (made extremely well; cocktails here are crafted so well). For appetizers we had the soup of the day (lobster bisque/butternut squash) which was uh-mazing, the prawns, and oysters. All very good. Of course we ordered filet mignon (cooked medium) which they adhered to our specific instructions rather well. We got macaroni and cheese (just ok) and Brussels sprouts (seasoned well, maybe too well lol). For dessert we had the butter cake (which I really liked; fluffy yet flavorful). My husband and I were invited for the Ruxton's soft opening when visiting Baltimore on a Saturday evening. The place has been nicely renovated. Even the bathrooms are beautiful. The service was impeccable. I ordered charbroiled oysters as an appetizer. Although a bit small, but definitely as good as those you get in New Orleans. My husband had an appetizer that included shrimp, calamari and oysters that he said was very tasty. We shared a porterhouse for our entree that was perfectly cooked to the temperature we requested. Our side was a loaded baked potato. For dessert we had ice cream. The Ruxton is a great addition to the Atlas group in Baltimore. We'll definitely return when visiting Baltimore. read more

This was a very nice, fancy steakhouse near the Inner Harbor in Baltimore. It had a very high class feel from the beginning. We started with a glass of wine and oysters. To start, we had the wedge salad and potato gnocchi--both were home runs. For the main course, I ordered the 6 oz filet cooked medium with the peppercorn crust, and it was a knockout. My date also ordered the 6 oz filet; theirs was a little salty and just the tiniest bit under medium, but they still enjoyed it immensely. We shared mashed potatoes and creamed spinach for the table--both were fantastic. Our server Adam was great, the food was delicious, and the vibe was classic upscale steakhouse. Not even sure where to begin... the Ruxton was fantastic. From start to finish our experience here was first class... we ordered a wide variety of appetizers and each was well composed and super tasty. The tuna tartare and grilled oysters were the crowd favorites but I really enjoyed the unique take on tater tots which were topped with a crème sauce and caviar. They were excellent! I ended up ordering the 8oz rib cap steak and topped it with king crab. I have to say it was one of the best steaks I have eaten. This cut is like a filet and ribeye had a baby... super tender like a filet but super moist and fatty like a ribeye. Just great! All of the sides were good and our service was top notch all night. It's pricey but you get what you pay for and it's worth every penny! Will def only be coming back here next time I am in Baltimore. read more

What a great addition to Baltimore! The steak wagyu board is of high quality, matches what I'm used to eating in Chicago. The sides and wine were great also. Service started strong but weirdly slowed down, my date and I were waiting for water (multiple times) and to put in our dessert order for a while. The only hesitation I have to recommend this place whole heartedly is the vibe- the night I visited there were many rowdier parties whereas I usually prefer a quieter intimate vibe at a steakhouse. One of the best restaurant experiences in the last 15 years that I have been coming to Baltimore. Beautiful restaurant, elegant but not stuffy. Great clientele, a real dinning atmosphere. The team is superior, from the welcome desk to every professional that served our table. Aimee was on point at every point of the meal... really make for a wonderful experience. More than you'd hope to read and more than you'd think you could in one sitting. Of all the steakhouses I've ever been to, this was most certainly one of them. The Ruxton, named after Edgar Allen Poe's pet raven, Maurice, boasts beverages ranging from spirits to Saratoga still water. The ceviche was equal parts good and tasty, the prawns were the first I'd ever tried so I have no point of comparison to work with but they were solid, and the wedge salad was cooked to perfection. If they're looking to differentiate themselves from the pack and appeal to millennials, I would strongly suggest changing how they'll allow you to order your steak, as I'd have ordered mine cooked "mid" instead of medium had I been given the option and time of day. Nevertheless, the filet was anything but mid and the asparagus and mac & cheese were healthy and decadent, respectively. I'd be remiss if I neglected to mention that the Ruxton served up a Shake N' Bake just like nonna used to make. The presentation had us all thinking we were at Hogwarts which is famously located in Baltimore's Inner Harbor. My husband and I had a lovely experience at the Ruxton! We celebrated our anniversary and went shortly after they opened, it may be our new favorite time to go. I recommend making a reservation. Sorry in advance - no pics for this review. Visited for a romantic date night and my partner asked me not to post. Here's how it went: 1. We arrived for our reservation, were greeted by the doorman, and then immediately escorted to our seats. The staff as a whole were extremely professional and accommodating through the night. They made sure to confirm food allergies (twice) and took the initiative to make our date night extra special by inviting us to the speakeasy after dinner. 2. Cocktails - 1,000/10. At first we were skeptical because they informed us their speciality drinks were pre batched so modifications weren't possible BUT they made it work. My partner had the Grand Ruxton martini (without the accoutrements) and I added gin to the Old Hollywood mocktail. Later in the speakeasy we also ordered French 75 and an Earl Grey martini. The bartenders there know how to make a drink! Strong is not even the word lol. Drinks are pricier in the speakeasy but I think the cost is reflected in the ambiance - very swanky intimate setting, a live three-piece band, and the service is still top notch. 3. Food - 7.5/10. This was the only part of my night that had any critique. House Bread - standard pull apart rolls but the garlic herb butter was devine! The flavors were much more forward than your usual seasoned butters (I appreciated the chive and hints of onion). Tater Tots & Caviar - Literally perfect! I've never had a potato cooked better. I do think the crème fraiche could have been elevated to match the taste (some kind of citrus and/or herb flavor would have made it pop). If it were a more casual place I would have asked for ketchup lol. Chilean Sea Bass - I sent this back originally because I couldn't tell if it was overcooked or just an issue with the quality of the fish. When it came back out, it was softer but still had a stringy chew to it. I'm leaning towards it more of an issue with the fish quality than the actual way it was cooked. The sauce was excellent but I've had better sea bass from lesser restaurants. My partner enjoyed the Lemon Butter Prawns, PEI Oysters, and Herb-Garlic Waffle Fries much more than her entree (some cut of steak and lobster). I've always wanted to come here and try it out. Came for a friends birthday and everyone inside was dressed nicely accommodating the upscale fancy setting of the restaurant. I would love to come back just for an intimate date. We ordered multiple items to share which I suggest if there is more than 3 of you at dinner. I ordered the phantom drink which tasted so good, that's all I needed for the night. Definitely recommend for the tequila people. The clam chowder because I wasn't really feeling too well but it definitely made me feel much better, I finished the whole bowl! Then the Wagyu burgers and oysters, I know weird combo but the burgers were little and cute was a bit cold when it came out not sure if it was the bun it self but it was cooked medium rare. The oysters were good, I'm still trying to find my niche of taste for them but they were worth it. Post-COVID business woes took it away, but I'm happy to report I have a new favorite. OMG so yummy . The service was top notch. The broccoli was cooked with bacon which just threw the taste off. My bf ordered the 14 oz NY strip and bacon mac n cheese. The steak was good, the mac n cheese tasted like straight bacon. The server Jada was okay, she only asked us once how was everything. The manager had to signal her to go check on her tables smh. The runners did a great job making sure the dirty dishes were cleared from the table & our drink glasses never got empty. They said it was strong but good. The waitress brought bread. It came with a waygu butter or regular butter. With either butter, the bread was warm and divine! For an appetizer, I had the lemon butter prawns! When I say, amazing I mean chefs kiss! The bread that comes with it... sopped up with the sauce around it?!! Whew, delightful! Also had the crab bisque! It was good but I would get two orders of the Lemon Butter prawns every time. Next up, entrees! It was so hard to choose from the options. I got the chicken fried lol batter tails with mushrooms and mashed potatoes. My friends got the filet mignon and Branzino. The food and drinks and service are impeccable; but unfortunately the type of folks that are patronizing this establishment leave a lot to be desired. While there is strict dress code in place (which my party and I adhered to) women were let in scandalous attire; barely covering their bits. Ripped jeans, shirts that barely cover breasts and skirts where I see more than at a lap dance are apparently widely accepted. In addition, the photography - from the bathrooms to 100 flashes of photos in the middle of the dining room are completely out of character for a place that seems to exude class and style. At one point, we literally had to ask our server to request that the table next to us stop taking flash pictures because it was so distracting. I came straight from the airport and was a bit early for my reservation and sat at the bar. We decided to stay there and I can say the bar tenders were attentive, made great menu suggestions, and even better drinks. The cheeky devil was my drink of the night. I had the caviar tater tots for a starter, the lemon prawns, and the sea bass and some of my sisters chicken fried lobster for an entree. For dessert we had the butter cake and the brownie. When deciding my bday this year I wanted a space that had a speakeasy vibe A friend recommended The Ruxton. All my guest ordered apps and I opted out because I was waiting for fried lobster tails the manger gave me a complimentary colossal shrimp cocktail so I wasn't sitting food less while my friend ate. It was fine we all sampled each others ha ha. They loved the fried green tomatoes topped with crab... it was so tasty and the crab wasn't overpowering. THE BREAD THOUGH... we all would have eaten that all my by itself the butter and rock salt oh my For dinner the mac n cheese trio was the star... great balance of cheese crab and lobster. My fried lobster tell were good, though it comes with hot honey I would liked a little more seasoning would have been nice. I was so pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Ruxton. I have been to quite a few steakhouses in the city and they rank up there with the best of them. We made a reservation in advance online and mentioned that it was our anniversary. They took the time to write us a card and gave it to us upon our arrival. They seated us quickly and for a weeknight, it was steadily busy. The inside is very nicely decorated but they did not overdo it and the lighting and ambiance makes it feel like a warm, vibrant restaurant without being too stuffy. They gave us a complimentary glass of champagne which was a nice touch. Our servers were Shane and Haley, with Haley being in training. They were so attentive and we needed for nothing as they were so proactive and took the time to make us feel comfortable and get to know us a bit. I would go back for the service alone, but luckily the food was very good too. We started with drinks, the stiletto was recommended and it was a great recommendation. A bit on the stronger side for me but it was also a martini so to be expected. My partner ordered the Raging Bull which was probably one of the best bourbon drinks I've had. Before our app came, they served bread and I will be dreaming about this bread forever. It was a soft milk bread with melted garlic butter on top and it was so light and fresh and warm. For our main meal, I ordered the 16oz bone-in delmonico and my partner got the 22oz dry-aged cowboy, both medium. We also ordered a side of asparagus and Mac and cheese, as well as a bottle of wine recommended by Shane. The wine was smooth and a great recommendation without breaking the bank. The steaks were cooked perfectly and were seasoned perfectly, but I did prefer the dry-aged steak only because the flavor was amazing. The asparagus came with a beet sauce of sorts and I don't like beets but it was very tasty. The Mac and cheese was creamy with a nice golden cheese crust on top. There was cheese everywhere and it was wonderful. Haley did convince use to get dessert and we opted for the Warm Butter Cake, which was like a deconstructed strawberry shortcake bar and was truly delicious. She outdoes herself every year introducing me to different places that may not have been on my radar, but rarely disappoint and this year's was the Ruxton. We had outstanding service sitting at the bar. My lamb chops were seasoned and cooked to perfection. My mocktails were refreshing and creative and the strawberry crunch butter cake was AAAAAAMMMMAAAZING. I'd go back just for the cake. There was also a lemon meringue pie I thought was pretty delicious and similar to Key lime pie.
