Delicious food and great ambiance. Sat at the bar and it took FOREVER to be serviced after they provided us water. Other than that the food was really good and I would return.

We had a reservation and only had to wait a few minutes for the table to be cleared, which I appreciated because they didn't rush to kick out the previous guests. The host and our server were very kind, I let them know it was my friend's birthday to see if they do anything for birthdays (they do). Our food came out at a decent speed and it was GOOD! When we entered the restaurant, it smelled amazing so I knew the food wouldn't disappoint. Even without the sauces, the chicken tasted fantastic. Overall, I would come again and try different items off the menu.

Good food, good prices, beautiful restaurant, great drinks, service a little questionable. Came with a reservation on Saturday night which I definitely recommend. There's tons of street parking out front - it is metered but ends at 6pm. My husband and I split a half chicken, a side of fries and a Caesar salad. We also each got a cocktail. The chicken was delicious, skin was crispy and chicken was tender, really a special dish. We got the truffle aioli dip which we loved. The fries were crispy and plentiful. The Caesar salad I think had real anchovies in the sauce, which I know is traditional but it's definitely a unique taste! Cocktails were delicious too. Only negatives were some service issues: it took a long time to get water and be greeted by a server after we were seated. Then, we placed cocktail order right away and they didn't come for until after our food came (which we ordered later). Very strange and a poor flow for food/drinks. The bar seemed backed up so this could have to do with it but for a Saturday night, that's prime time. Overall we had a nice time, the food was priced reasonably and there's a few other dishes I'd come back to try!

I didn't have any expectations coming in and left with an extremely positive feeling! Just a great vibe all around. Good music and the ownership group is extremely warm. We got the half chicken, pepper steak, Brussel sprouts and Mac and cheese. It was all amazing. We felt the need to get the chicken because of the name and it did not disappoint. The skin was crispy and the meat was extremely juicy! There are no sides, but they come with a variety of sauces. Get the pepper sauce!!!!! We got the the pepper steak. I was thrown off but it was still great. It's my fault, but it is actually a short rib. Very filling and the portions are huge. GET THE MAC AND CHEEESE!!!!! So good. It's a creamy Mac and cheese with a nice top layer crust. The portions are huge. I would recommend sharing! It's a great way to try everything. Would come back again just to even hang by the bar. Great music and decor.

Came for my first outing with the work crew. I must say that the food was good, fresh and fast. It's not a big place but the hostess and server were on point. They have happy hour 4-6 pm. I got the shrimp and the mushroom bowl which were delicious. Nice vibe and street parking. I'll be back!

Finally experienced Rooted Rotisserie. Ive had it bookmarked for a while. The space is cozy so be prepared to be nestled close to the next table. The service was good. We tried the namesKe chicken. It was tender, but would have loved more pronounce flavor. The sauces did that trick. The truffle aioli and aleppo citrus (cant remember the exact name) tasted as named. The stArs of the show were the homemade ranch and the pepper sauce both were A1 and tasty. The ranch was nothing like the bottled stuff. It was dill forward and had a nice flowing consistency. Im typically not a spicy gal but the peppa sauce was so flavorful. You not only experience heat, you get depth of flavor. Another star was the mac and cheese. creamy rich and decadent. Perfectly al dente noodles in a cheesy sauce. I tasted Gouda which is my fav cheese. The shrimp were cooked just right. Even though I typically dont like the licorice flavor of fennel I didn't experience that on the shrimp. The broccolini was nice and crunchy. The sides had nice portions for sharing. The gauva was also good. Mac & shrimp were my fav.

The service was TOP TIER. I have to say that first. Here's why I say this: because of their limited hours, it's hard to get into. Everyone had a reservation because they knew lol I was just operating on vibes. And even then, they fit me into the bar. I wouldn't try it again though haha. I'll get a reservation. Even with a relatively full house, they were attentive and pleasant. If you're gluten free, there's not a ton of choices but they do work with you. In fact, when they ask for your order they also ask if you have any allergies or food concerns. I ordered the sparkling water with the half chicken and the baked potato, but the fixings on the side. I asked the waitress what sauce she usually gets and she suggested getting the white truffle aïoli with the pepper sauce. She did NOT steer me wrong. The half chicken was great and I liked that I was able to customize my potato. My only critique is that the plates were too small and they should give you automatically two sauces for the chicken. Anyway, I've told all my friends about it. We'll be back and I will be getting the house-made peach tea next time.

Love this place for its liveliness, hospitality, music... and did I mention food? I've been here three times, as this is where I bring my special folks to celebrate their birthdays. The space itself appears to be a renovated house with a simple clean design, very hip spot with a mix of nouveau soul, Afro beat and world music that gets you in the mood for a chill evening of good dining. Staff is genuinely friendly and accommodating, definitely helpful with different selections featured. But the food is what it's about. On all three visits, we've enjoyed the rotisserie chicken, both succulent and crispy. Definitely a hit. The Mac and cheese is dense and cheesy, maybe not as flavorful as expected, but good. On all three visits, we've gotten the braised cabbage which although flavorful, has been either perfectly al dente or somewhat mushy. Brussels sprouts are an excellent choice, as are the truffle fries and the loaded baked potato. Definitely planning a solo trip one evening to chill at the bar with the mushroom bowl.

Rooted has been on my list ever since I had it recommended to me almost a year ago. We finally found the opportunity to go, so I made a reservation (highly recommend doing this if you want to get a table). It's a small, intimate space. The service was impeccable throughout the meal and the food was equally excellent. Funny enough, though we came for the rotisserie chicken our favorite dishes ended up being the sides. The Mac and cheese, potatoes, and brussels sprouts were all standouts. That isn't to say that the chicken was bad, because it was delicious. The sides just stole the show! The mushroom bowl was also a great combination of flavors. You definitely get great value, both in the quality and quantity of food and the reasonable prices. Can't wait to come back and show off this gem to any and all visitors to Baltimore.

Duck Gumbo

I was taken to Rooted in Baltimore for an early birthday dinner . Just some simple housekeeping for Rooted. First it opens at 4pm.and closes at 9pm. Secondly Its also a BYOB for only wine and beer. They do not serve liquor. Third you will need to make a reservation. For the appetizer i ordered the L.I.B chicken wings. They were seasoned and the homemade ranch topped it off. Then ordered a mess of food for the table (Duck Confit Gumbo, Branzino, Pepper Steak and Half Chicken with Mac and Cheese on the side). The fried orka that goes in the gumbo is chef's kiss! For beverages we has the Pineapple Lemonade and dessert was the key lime pie with the cookie like crust. When I left my stomach was hurting because I ate so much I was miserable. Lastly it is reasonable priced, has a good laid back vibe and black owned. Its right across from Hollen Market.

Rotisserie chicken, Cabbage, Mac & cheese
Monique B.

This was my first time here. Upon entering I was greeted with a friendly smile and welcome. The vibe was relaxed and cozy. The restaurant and the bathroom were very clean. I ordered the wings for my appetizer and they were a little spicy but good. For my entree I ordered the rotisserie chicken, cabbage, Mac and cheese, and sweet potatoes (not pictured). The cabbage and Mac and cheese were my favorite. When ordering the sides please note that some of the sides are sharable. Definitely try this place out... you won't be disappointed!

Rooted Rotisserie is absolutely amazing. I went once the hype had died down a bit but we still made a reservation and the restaurant was full all night on a weeknight. Parking was plentiful in the neighborhood. Our server was super helpful in helping us narrow down what to order since we wanted to eat everything. The chicken is superiors chicken- juicy and flavorful. Almost didn't need the sauce. The Mac and cheese was one of the best I've had in a long time. The duck was tender and so good!

Duck Confit Gumbo, Sweet Potato Puree

Rooted Rotisserie is rooted in love and great home cooking. The space feels like you're being dropped off at your cool Auntie's house, you know the one! The ambiance is warming, the music was vibey, our server was engaged and involved in our dinner choices. My recommendation was the sweet potato puree, a dish you could eat morning, noon, or night! You can just taste the richness, chef's kiss! As a hopeful vegetarian, I ordered the mushroom bowl and whole mouth-watering, I was surprised at the tartness of the balsamic glaze, and wished it was either a bit sweetened/not as tangy. My best friend ordered the duck confit gumbo and ranted with "mmm"s and "wow"s with several 1st bites. It's safe to say we both thoroughly enjoyed our dishes and whatever wasn't captured in pics, was captured in our foodie hearts. Bravo RR!

Since it was New Year's eve, there were few patrons or maybe this is the usual scene? Don't know. But there are some comfy couches by the front in which a young couple with a baby was nursing. Another couple was just finishing up dinner and started to head out. We were the only two diners for about 20 minutes before another couple came in for dinner. There were also about two or three people at the bar. So basically a very quiet place. No one at the hostess stand, only a woman at the bar. She eventually sat us and took our order. Things were slow but not so slow that I would complain. I would surmise that most of the staff was off that evening. Food was also slow in coming so there might have been a small crew in the kitchen as well. We ordered the mezze appetizer. Nothing to rave about. It was just a plate with vegetables and hummus. We both got the wagyu burger and fries. The whole meal was quite decent. The meat was cooked to the correct temperature and the fries were crispy. It was quite filling for me.
