It definitely needed some additional care during my visit and took away a little from the overall experience. Overall, I enjoyed the food and received good service. There's some room for improvement; however, I'd be open to coming back and trying something else on the menu.

I tried making a reservation on the website; however, the link to the reservation option was broken. No worries, since I'm a child of the 80s, I'm not afraid to use the phone and call a business. This part was a bit annoying. I called the restaurant to make a reservation (bc the restaurant's reservation link/page was broken). The woman who answered pretty much told me that the only way that I could make a reservation was through Open Table. I thought that was kind of strange. Since I called the restaurant and had already given her bits of information about my intended visit (day and number for folks), I'm not sure why she could not have put in the reservation for me especially since the reservation link on the restaurant's website didn't work. Perhaps, the restaurant was super crowded when I called, and the person didn't have time (or maybe the interest) to manually make the reservation. Upon arriving, I really enjoyed the fact that the majority of the diners and employees were Black. Since a few of the customers knew members of the staff, I take it that Blancos is a locals spot, which is promising. The restaurant has a nice space with two levels. Although we had a reservation for a table, we decided to sit at the bar because our reserved table appeared to be in a room where there was a large family gathering. We figured that if there was an option to sit somewhere else, why not let the family have full-range of the back area. Our hostess was fine with our last-minute request. Ok, the food! Generally speaking, the food was fine - it was not great but it was not horrible. I thought my Salmon Hash was served with generous portions. I will admit that my food arrived kind of cold. My friend though his food was average. Service was a bit "interesting" because my friend received his food within five minutes of ordering, but I received my food about 15 minutes later. Since I don't live in Baltimore, I did not know too much about the parking scene. However, I think we were super lucky because we found street parking in front of the restaurant. Also, the parking was like only $1.50/hour. This was kind of interesting because 1-3 (I forget the actual distance) blocks away, street parking was like $4.50/hour. To be frank, I'm not even sure if the city checks for validated parking on the weekends, but better safe than sorry. Would I visit again? I think this would depend on the situation and where I am in Baltimore. However, since I do not live in the area, I probably would want to visit other soul food restaurants before taking another shot at Blancos - just for some variety.

Because we cannot resist, we also got an order of fresh-made deep-fried beignets, little randomly-shaped crispy pastry-dough treats in a sneezeable amount of powdered sugar. She passed that message along to our waitress, and I was on the way to the bathroom when I saw the interaction. Our waitress seemed to be not at all interested in what the hostess had to say in pertains to our drink. I proceeded to sit at the bar and wait for our drink as I watched her take shots with other patrons in the establishment. I then went to the bathroom and returned to my table and two minutes later, she arrived with my very much watered down, lemon crusher. When we asked her for the receipt and told her that we didn't receive particular items, she rang us up and slammed the tablet onto the table.
