My husband and I had a lovely experience at the Ruxton! We celebrated our anniversary and went shortly after they opened, it may be our new favorite time to go. I recommend making a reservation. The restaurant is beautiful & service was immaculate. They gave us an anniversary card and complimentary sparkling wine. Our waitress, Taylor, was so attentive and made everything on their menu sound delectable. Everything we ordered was delicious! We shared the oysters, lobster bisque, cowboy ribeye, macaroni & cheese & broccoli. I highly recommend! read more

We had great time in this restaurant, American restaurant with amazing food and top-notch service! This place served excellent food and quality was absolutely fantastic. We ordered the Chargrilled Oysters, warm butter cake, and lobster tails which taste really delicious. Smooth in every bite. I forgot some the food we ordered but everything was so delicious. The ambiance was lively and comfortable, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. read more

One of the best restaurant experiences in the last 15 years that I have been coming to Baltimore. Beautiful restaurant, elegant but not stuffy. Great clientele, a real dinning atmosphere. The team is superior, from the welcome desk to every professional that served our table. Aimee was on point at every point of the meal... really make for a wonderful experience. The manager came by to check on us - Mr Young knows what he is doing and runs an exemplary business. Bravo! With all this, how about the food? Superb! Don't miss the shellfish salad, packed with all sorts of shellfish that only the Chesapeake Bay can provide, the filet mignons with incredible sauces and to round off... the elevated blue crab mac&cheese. Simply wow! Drinks and desserts were equally highlights to our meal. Perfection! read more

Sorry in advance - no pics for this review. Visited for a romantic date night and my partner asked me not to post. Here's how it went: 1. We arrived for our reservation, were greeted by the doorman, and then immediately escorted to our seats. The staff as a whole were extremely professional and accommodating through the night. They made sure to confirm food allergies (twice) and took the initiative to make our date night extra special by inviting us to the speakeasy after dinner. 2. Cocktails - 1,000/10. At first we were skeptical because they informed us their speciality drinks were pre batched so modifications weren't possible BUT they made it work. My partner had the Grand Ruxton martini (without the accoutrements) and I added gin to the Old Hollywood mocktail. Later in the speakeasy we also ordered French 75 and an Earl Grey martini. The bartenders there know how to make a drink! Strong is not even the word lol. Drinks are pricier in the speakeasy but I think the cost is reflected in the ambiance - very swanky intimate setting, a live three-piece band, and the service is still top notch. 3. Food - 7.5/10. This was the only part of my night that had any critique. House Bread - standard pull apart rolls but the garlic herb butter was devine! The flavors were much more forward than your usual seasoned butters (I appreciated the chive and hints of onion). Tater Tots & Caviar - Literally perfect! I've never had a potato cooked better. I do think the crème fraiche could have been elevated to match the taste (some kind of citrus and/or herb flavor would have made it pop). If it were a more casual place I would have asked for ketchup lol. Chilean Sea Bass - I sent this back originally because I couldn't tell if it was overcooked or just an issue with the quality of the fish. When it came back out, it was softer but still had a stringy chew to it. I'm leaning towards it more of an issue with the fish quality than the actual way it was cooked. The sauce was excellent but I've had better sea bass from lesser restaurants. My partner enjoyed the Lemon Butter Prawns, PEI Oysters, and Herb-Garlic Waffle Fries much more than her entree (some cut of steak and lobster). Overall, I think The Ruxton is fabulous but I think the main draw is in their drinks and appetizers. Would definitely return for the speakeasy! read more

This place is a gem of a find. Service is attentive and friendly, food is delicious and arrived promptly, and the ambiance is a study in modern day elegance while nodding to the traditional steakhouses of yesteryear: dark green comfy booths, golden highlights, and glass decor. I rarely feel so comfortable that I will sit several hours for dinner, but that's exactly what happed in this comfortable and unhurried environment while enjoying my daughter's birthday. read more

I get too attached to restaurants. I'm often a repeat customer, especially to steakhouses. Flemming's occupied this space prior to @theruxton and it was my favorite. Post-COVID business woes took it away, but I'm happy to report I have a new favorite. OMG so yummy . The service was top notch. Both the general and assistant general manager checked on us, our waitstaff was attentive and the food stood on business. They have a speakeasy next door that we didn't have time to visit but we surely will next time. Best menu option? THE BUTTER CAKE. Imagine a warm cornbread mixed with poundcake. Insane. I could eat it every week. I can't wait to go back. read more

I've always wanted to come here and try it out. Came for a friends birthday and everyone inside was dressed nicely accommodating the upscale fancy setting of the restaurant. I would love to come back just for an intimate date. We ordered multiple items to share which I suggest if there is more than 3 of you at dinner. I ordered the phantom drink which tasted so good, that's all I needed for the night. Definitely recommend for the tequila people. The clam chowder because I wasn't really feeling too well but it definitely made me feel much better, I finished the whole bowl! Then the Wagyu burgers and oysters, I know weird combo but the burgers were little and cute was a bit cold when it came out not sure if it was the bun it self but it was cooked medium rare. The oysters were good, I'm still trying to find my niche of taste for them but they were worth it. The vegetables you cannot go wrong, the asparagus was cooked just right, I could have gone for a little more grilled. The broccoli I did not try, it honestly looked fake and the creamed spinach was my favorite!!! read more

It is my great honor and privilege to be typing before you, Yelp review readers, as we gather here for The Ruxton's 200th Yelp Review. After 199 reviews, what else is left to say? More than you'd hope to read and more than you'd think you could in one sitting. Of all the steakhouses I've ever been to, this was most certainly one of them. The Ruxton, named after Edgar Allen Poe's pet raven, Maurice, boasts beverages ranging from spirits to Saratoga still water. The ceviche was equal parts good and tasty, the prawns were the first I'd ever tried so I have no point of comparison to work with but they were solid, and the wedge salad was cooked to perfection. If they're looking to differentiate themselves from the pack and appeal to millennials, I would strongly suggest changing how they'll allow you to order your steak, as I'd have ordered mine cooked "mid" instead of medium had I been given the option and time of day. Nevertheless, the filet was anything but mid and the asparagus and mac & cheese were healthy and decadent, respectively. I'd be remiss if I neglected to mention that the Ruxton served up a Shake N' Bake just like nonna used to make. The presentation had us all thinking we were at Hogwarts which is famously located in Baltimore's Inner Harbor. What's any night at The Ruxton without a patented Craig Beberman toast de resistance that would make Herb Brooks weak at the knees? Well, that's all for today, diary. It's giving Grown and Sexy! Amazing first experience! I will be back in a few weeks. Had the Ruston fried seafood sampler and the wagyu sliders for appetizers. The atmosphere was sexy and the food was amazing! The fried lobster tails with the Nashville hot butter sauce were last meal on earth good! I also enjoyed the 6oz filet with the bernaise sauce. I also enjoyed the lobster Mac and the butter cake! YUM! My mouth is watering writing this review. read more

A newer Harbor East hotspot. I thought the place had a classic steakhouse charm, big leather booths and warm lighting. It also has a modern edge and feels spacious. Loved the convenient parking garage next door. Our server was really excellent. The food was good, we especially enjoyed the chargrilled oysters, cream of crab soup, crab cake, bread and desserts. I would return to try more. read more

Me and the gals visited this amazing restaurant! It was a tad difficult to find. When you hit the circle though, make the very first right and there is someone waiting for valet parking. My friends found parking nearby like at the Marriott or street parking. Anyway, once we all arrive we were seated within a few minutes. The inside really is beautiful! The ambiance is sophisticated and relaxing. Once seated, we gave our drink orders. I had a simple lemonade that was very refreshing. My friends had the Red Daisy cocktail. They said it was strong but good. The waitress brought bread. It came with a waygu butter or regular butter. With either butter, the bread was warm and divine! For an appetizer, I had the lemon butter prawns! When I say, amazing I mean chefs kiss! The bread that comes with it... sopped up with the sauce around it?!! Whew, delightful! Also had the crab bisque! It was good but I would get two orders of the Lemon Butter prawns every time. Next up, entrees! It was so hard to choose from the options. I got the chicken fried lol batter tails with mushrooms and mashed potatoes. My friends got the filet mignon and Branzino. The steak was ok, Branzino was pretty good and the lobster tails were delicious! The lobster tails with the sauce from the lemon butter prawns tasted even better. For dessert we had the warm butter cake. It was ok. Nothing I would get again. read more

Came here over the weekend for an early birthday dinner! Boy was it packed! Had a wonderful time. Giving 4 stars because we had to wait over 20 minutes, despite having a reservation. Service was excellent however. Food was fabulous and I'd definitely be interested in returning!! I had the NY Strip with chimichurri sauce, Mac and cheese and the broccoli which had butter, bacon, and Parmesan; yummy!!! My girlfriend got the seafood risotto with a lobster tail and really enjoyed that! I received a complimentary birthday dessert and we also tried the butter cake. The strawberries on this were simply heavenly! Really nice establishment. I loved the aesthetic of the bar! Looked classy and polished! It's hard to describe but it was beautiful! Check them out if you're interested. Make a reservation and the valet was $20. Worth it, seeing as there isn't a ton of parking where the restaurant sits and who wants to walk in heels? Honestly surprised how good the steak was at this spot. I usually go for fancier steakhouses but decided to give this one a try and I'm glad I did. The sirloin was thick, cooked medium, and had great flavor throughout. The chimichurri sauce on top was bright and tangy, adding a really nice touch. Service was fast and everyone was super friendly. The place had a casual vibe but still felt special. Will be recommending this one to my steak-loving friends. read more

Although I'm from Baltimore, I rarely go back to visit. So I was excited to try a new restaurant and Ruxton did not disappoint. I came straight from the airport and was a bit early for my reservation and sat at the bar. We decided to stay there and I can say the bar tenders were attentive, made great menu suggestions, and even better drinks. The cheeky devil was my drink of the night. I had the caviar tater tots for a starter, the lemon prawns, and the sea bass and some of my sisters chicken fried lobster for an entree. For dessert we had the butter cake and the brownie. OMG everything was chefs kiss! I enjoyed the vibes and atmosphere for hours over plenty of champagne. I'll definitely be going back on my next visit! read more

Service alone compelled me to immediately write a review! Idk what kind of boot camp they put staff through but it is evident that they take service seriously here. I was extremely impressed with how everyone worked together- at no point did it feel like "this isn't my job" when interacting with any member of the team. Top notch for sure. Went here to celebrate a birthday, this is the perfect place to be fake bougie. The restaurant is too loud between the music and other guests talking. The tables are very small!! I ordered shrimp & crab risotto, mac n cheese, & roasted broccoli. The risotto was good, however the mac n cheese was okay & it got cold extremely fast. The broccoli was cooked with bacon which just threw the taste off. My bf ordered the 14 oz NY strip and bacon mac n cheese. The steak was good, the mac n cheese tasted like straight bacon. The server Jada was okay, she only asked us once how was everything. The manager had to signal her to go check on her tables smh. The runners did a great job making sure the dirty dishes were cleared from the table & our drink glasses never got empty. My bf was given a complimentary birthday dessert, it was good but the cake was dry! During dessert the runner did pour water on my hand and our table and didn't acknowledge it nor apologized. This isn't a place I would come back to as I've had better food & service elsewhere. read more

When deciding my bday this year I wanted a space that had a speakeasy vibe A friend recommended The Ruxton. I had heard disparaging things about The Atlas group in the past, but decided to create my own opinion and glad I did. From booking the reservation to my bday dessert. I had a few questions after booking the reservation. I emailed the them a team member Joshua Lewis was very helpful and responses were timely. When it was time to seat our party unfortunately the seating was a little tight for my guest to sit comfortably, the managers promptly whisked us away to a cocktail lounge and offered to pay for our drinks as we waited to another table. The new space worked out well. All my guest ordered apps and I opted out because I was waiting for fried lobster tails the manger gave me a complimentary colossal shrimp cocktail so I wasn't sitting food less while my friend ate. It was fine we all sampled each others ha ha. They loved the fried green tomatoes topped with crab... it was so tasty and the crab wasn't overpowering. THE BREAD THOUGH... we all would have eaten that all my by itself the butter and rock salt oh my For dinner the mac n cheese trio was the star... great balance of cheese crab and lobster. My fried lobster tell were good, though it comes with hot honey I would liked a little more seasoning would have been nice. Maybe a little old bay lol For dessert we mostly had the butter cake Every thing was great from the staff ambiance and food def will be back. My guest also loved it we're thinking a follow up happy hour date. SN: they have $15 valet parking read more

~ I feel like this restaurant was specifically made for me !! This place is elegant! Bright! Confident & marvelous! As soon as I walked into the bar area, I could feel the angels playing harps, greeting the monster. So heavily. The hostess was very polite & welcoming. She had no problem guiding me to the bathroom & even took pictures for me after lunch. I treated my family to lunch this week so we ordered a bunch of dishes. The Chargrilled oysters were very tasty. I think they could have been better, but I won't complain. 9/10. Steak: The best item to me was the 12oz Gold Label SRF Ribeye !!! After tasting this Wagyu, I thought Ruth Chris was In danger of my #1 stop !! Because this cut was immaculate!!!!!!! I got it cooked in truffle butter at medium temp, with 1 shrimp scampi on the side. ( $9 per shrimp) OMG 10/10. Can't wait to attack that 36oz Tomahawk next visit. Steak: I also got the 16oz bone-in medium well Delmonico prime steak and immediately Ruth Chris got their #1 spot back. It was a good steak, but I think I should have ordered it differently & got medium well w/ no char. The steak came out with too much char for me. Very overpowering which made me use the steak sauce and truffle butter after the second bite. Felt like I was at a cookout. Still pleasing because the steak sauce ($4) and truffle butter ($12) are soooooo good. Steak: The last steak was the 12oz New Frontier Bison Ribeye at medium well temperature. Very nice & juicy. Because it was my first time, I didn't wanna take any chances. I'll order it at medium-rare next time. I'm sure the results would be even better. Sides: There was no debate that the best side dish was the Roasted Broccoli. 10/10. Followed by the Crispy Brussels Sprouts 9/10. Herb-Garlic Waffle Fries 7/10. Lobster Mac & Cheese 5/10. Very disappointed. Just had so much liquid sitting at the bottom. Not too much taste. Then the mashed potatoes 0/10. It tastes like the section 8 boxed mashed potatoes. Fake! No nothing. They gotta get rid of that and start fresh. Absolutely atrocious. Burger/ Sandwiches: The dry-aged Steakhouse burger was huge (pause). Like Mondo Burger huge. 3 can share it. Make sure you get it at medium temperature tho. 6/10. Last but not least, The Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Def not hot. But it was decent. 6/10. This is my spot tho. No question about it. I spent around $1,350.00. Well worth it. Spacious seating. You can have a conversation with your party without hearing other people's conversions. You don't have to slide behind guests when you're walking to the bathroom. Love everything about this restaurant (except the mash). Hope you all enjoy it. ~ #TeamDiesel #TeamDiesel4Evaaaa read more

I was so pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Ruxton. I have been to quite a few steakhouses in the city and they rank up there with the best of them. We made a reservation in advance online and mentioned that it was our anniversary. They took the time to write us a card and gave it to us upon our arrival. They seated us quickly and for a weeknight, it was steadily busy. The inside is very nicely decorated but they did not overdo it and the lighting and ambiance makes it feel like a warm, vibrant restaurant without being too stuffy. They gave us a complimentary glass of champagne which was a nice touch. Our servers were Shane and Haley, with Haley being in training. They were so attentive and we needed for nothing as they were so proactive and took the time to make us feel comfortable and get to know us a bit. I would go back for the service alone, but luckily the food was very good too. We started with drinks, the stiletto was recommended and it was a great recommendation. A bit on the stronger side for me but it was also a martini so to be expected. My partner ordered the Raging Bull which was probably one of the best bourbon drinks I've had. Before our app came, they served bread and I will be dreaming about this bread forever. It was a soft milk bread with melted garlic butter on top and it was so light and fresh and warm. We ordered the Frito Mixto for an app and the lemon-caper remoulade was the star! The seafood was fried perfectly and was not greasy at all. For our main meal, I ordered the 16oz bone-in delmonico and my partner got the 22oz dry-aged cowboy, both medium. We also ordered a side of asparagus and Mac and cheese, as well as a bottle of wine recommended by Shane. The wine was smooth and a great recommendation without breaking the bank. The steaks were cooked perfectly and were seasoned perfectly, but I did prefer the dry-aged steak only because the flavor was amazing. The asparagus came with a beet sauce of sorts and I don't like beets but it was very tasty. The Mac and cheese was creamy with a nice golden cheese crust on top. There was cheese everywhere and it was wonderful. Haley did convince use to get dessert and we opted for the Warm Butter Cake, which was like a deconstructed strawberry shortcake bar and was truly delicious. I feel that the prices were in line with a typical steakhouse and I think that the service and the quality of food make it feel worth the price. We'll definitely be saving up to visit again! read more

My partner and I had such a lovely time. we arrived around 9:30. Valet service was quick and efficient. There were a few other people in the waiting area. The bar was packed, it was a lot of people everywhere. However, We were able to get seated in about 5-7 minutes. I forgot my servers name but she was very sweet, efficient.. knowledgeable of the menu and she was patient with us as we were indecisive about picking certain items. She didn't get frustrated and that's top tier. The music was loud though and I had trouble hearing at times. But everything else was amazing. The decor is beautiful, everyone was dressed up in the dining room. The drinks were also very good my Cosmo was PERFECT. I ordered the branzino and my partner ordered the sea bass. Both were cooked to perfection. We ordered mashed potatoes and the jalapeño grits which were different but quite tasty. After dinner we had a few more drinks in the speak easy. Very beautiful decor. You can tell someone really took their time with the theme. We will be coming back! Thanks for a great experience. read more

We went to the Ruxton to celebrate a birthday dinner. The ambiance is amazing! The staff were very attentive and courteous throughout the entire experience. I completely understand their concept of elevating your dining experience. When we arrived they had a birthday card and called us by name. Everyone that came to the table also knew us by name which felt very nice. I know it was their first night opening to the public. There were so name staff members watching our every move that at times it felt uncomfortable. I understood that with time, this will change. Everyone was nervous for their first night! This is a, "leave the kids at home and date night" kind of pla Onto the food. I never got photos of everything because I was really enjoying the evening. We ordered the Chargrilled oysters, Caesar salad, lobster and butternut squash soup, delmonico and dry aged steak, loaded potatoes, brussels and the butter cake. We definitely took a doggy bag home! Everything was delicious! The Brussels sprouts were a little too sweet for my liking but that is just my personal preference. I also thought the music was a little loud and didn't match the upscale/ elegant vibe. Again, just a personal opinion. We were stuffed by dessert but we were so glad to try the butter cake. It was worth every bite! Great job and experience all around. We can't wait to come back! read more

Shout out to Kelli B. for taking me on yet another extraordinary birthday outing. She outdoes herself every year introducing me to different places that may not have been on my radar, but rarely disappoint and this year's was the Ruxton. We had outstanding service sitting at the bar. My lamb chops were seasoned and cooked to perfection. My mocktails were refreshing and creative and the strawberry crunch butter cake was AAAAAAMMMMAAAZING. I'd go back just for the cake. There was also a lemon meringue pie I thought was pretty delicious and similar to Key lime pie. Second time dining here and it's still a 10/10. We took my parents who were visiting from out of town and they were very impressed. We had drinks at the bar first and it was the best dirty martini I have had in a while. They had Blanton's too which scored major points. I reserved a table for my Boyfriends birthday, the reservation process was easy if you email. I couldn't get anyone on the phone during daytime, but that's ok. We used the valet service it was fast and seamless. When we arrived we were seated right after checking in, we didn't have to wait for our party to arrive. Our server came over immediately and addressed the birthday boy and asked which water we would like, there were three. The one we chose was regular water, it tasted like tap and was not good. So don't get regular lol. The complimentary bread was so amazing we asked for more. It was warm, garlicky and soft. We ordered entrees and apps I ordered the Waygu sliders, jalapeno grits and Jail salmon. The sliders were amazing I could eat about 8 of them. The jalapeno grits were amazing. The jail salmon wasn't the great. It was under seasoned and the crust wasn't flaky it was hard to slice through. But I tasted my boyfriends 12oz Waygu steak was the best steak I ever had. They raved about the sauce for the broccoli and crab mac. I would definitely order something else next time. I love that the size were large portions you don't see that in alot of nice restaurants. Lastly we ordered dessert. The assistant manager came over a few times and he suggested the butter cake. I ordered it and my boyfriend went with the brownie. The cake tasted like a pancake and paired with the ice cream so well. They brought over the birthday cake which was so sweet. Our server (I'm sorry I don't remember her name) took our pictures. She was very attentive and kept our table clean, she was very soft spoken. I had a fantastic time. After we paid we went to the speakeasy for shots. I will definitely be back. read more

The sauce it's in is so good! I got pork chops it's was some of the best flavor. My boyfriend got the crab cakes which were delicious too. Almost everything was a 10/10 the only thing I think that could have been better was the mashed potatoes. They needed more seasoning. We also got dessert which was amazing. A great dining experience. The ambiance was nice, outside of the restaurant being noisy.

So lame - they don't actually enforce the dress code and the waitstaff was dressed SO sloppily, almost like it was a joke. When you're paying so much for a dinner out, there's an expectation of appearances of fellow diners and servers. I was so grossed out I'll never go back.
