One of my friends gave us a gift certificate as a wedding gift that was purchased literally the night before the DC location closed after 50 years. We were so happy that the Baltimore location honored it, and they made our dual birthday and wedding celebration feel so special. From the second we arrived, GM Mark took great care of us. We started with drinks at the bar, where the team was so warm and gave fantastic food suggestions. Mark then surprised us with a lovely, secluded two-top table featuring the iconic high-back chairs brought over from the DC restaurant - a detail I absolutely loved! Our server, Darcel, was phenomenal. He was extremely attentive, personable, and shared some great history about the restaurant while keeping our entire meal perfectly paced. The food was incredible: The Prime Rib Steak: Cooked to an absolute perfect medium-rare. They kindly asked if we'd like it sliced before bringing it out, which we jumped on, and it came out served beautifully. The Sides: We shared the lobster mac and cheese (my husband LOVED!), a half order of the world-famous onion rings, and the steak fries. Everything arrived hot and completely hit the spot. I've wanted to visit the OG Prime Rib location for awhile now and it certainly did not disappoint. We stopped by after the Rugby match at M&T and while the bar was full Austin who was working the host stand made sure we had two seats together. John the bartender was excellent behind the bar slinging drinks. The Prime Rib Sandwich was absolutely delicious and one of the best Prime Rib Sandwiches I've ever had. I seriously had a Prime Ribgasim while eating it. The Sandwich came with Onion Rings which were also excellent especially with the Horseraddish Sauce. I attended a small celebration with 3 people at Prime Rib. The ambiance, live music and wall decor was great and set the ton for a relaxed and vibing time. However for this to be an upscaled pricey restaurant I expect seating to be presentable. The vinyl seating was heavily cracked up and unsightly. Our waiter other waiter this night were all in their upper senior of age and unfortunately our waiter was reaching over food and touch, however he was very attentive. The menu is nothing to boast about nor the drinks. Over priced and not good. I had ordered Oyster casino, 2 drinks and potato skins. I enjoyed the music and the table bread. I probably come to the Prime Rib a little too much. Anytime someone is visiting from out of town and wants a fancy dinner, this is where I take them. Anytime I have a special occasion to celebrate, I'm usually coming to Prime Rib. Even if I'm in the area and feeling a bit peckish, I find myself cozying up to the familiar bar. I love the staff here. Service is friendly and old school but not stuffy - especially if you sit at the bar. Austin, Mark, John, are all topnotch people and topnotch servers. My usual go-tos are the dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives, the potato skins, and the house salad (hard-boiled eggs on the side). I recently celebrated my anniversary here and ordered the lobster tail for my entree. For $50ish it was a good size with great flavor and perfectly prepared. Not something I'd get for a normal dinner but it was lovely. I've also enjoyed some specials in the past like the crab legs or the ribs. If you're concerned about the high prices here, they offer a bar menu that is surprisingly affordable. Entrees like chicken, pork chop, burger, and even crab imperial for $30ish each. Not bad considering the ambiance and quality. They recently got rid of the cheesecake which we were very sad about but their sundae is also really good. The regular one is huge but they also offer a half size. I will continue to return here again and again. Went to Prime Rib on a Friday night and had so much fun! The music, good food, and friendly staff really created a wonderful dinner out. There's something about a steakhouse where most of the servers have been there for several years that adds to the experience, I think our server said he's been working there for over 20 years! At The Prime Rib, this is not a restaurant. It's commiserating with the Rat Pack over martinis. The lighting is dim and everyone at the bar looks like they either run the city or used to. This place has been doing its thing since the 1960s, with tuxedoed waiters, live piano, and the locals are cultish about it. When the off-duty staff are sitting at the bar eating...yeah, that's your Michelin star right there. We were shocked especially due to that location had been open for 50 years. We were ecstatic to have the gift certificate honored at The Prime Rib location in Baltimore on Calvert St. From the moment we walked in and we were greeted at the host stand from the GM Mark Linzey we were treated with 5 star service the entire evening. We sat at the bar for an hour and had great casual conversations with all the bar tenders who were extremely informative on meal selections. Mark gave us our own secluded two top with a special touch of high back seats from the DC location. Our server Darcel was very attentive, polite, and very knowledgeable on the history and meal selections. As far as the selections we chose, everything came out at our pace, hot, and tasted like a 5 star resturaunt. We cannot speak highly enough about the staff, the menu, and the location. Thank you so much to each and every person we talked to and interacted with. You made my wife's birthday and our wedding present an event we will keep talking about and we cannot wait until we have the opportunity to return. I am completely enamored with everything about The Prime Rib. One walk up the steps into the dining room that is adorned with leopard print carpet and a live piano player, I knew that I was in a place I would enjoy. We opted to sit at the bar, and Dan and Austin took care of us. At around 6:30 on a Sunday this bar was absolutely popping. Thankfully, a large party at the bar had a table resi so we snagged seats in the corner of the bar and began a lovely journey of martinis, carbs and of course prime rib. We started with the house salad which was great. We also split what I heard was one of their most popular dishes - a potato skin basket. I am unsure how I lived 36 years of life without ever experiencing such a thing. Who doesn't want perfectly crispy potatoes to be topped with horseradish and sour cream? It was DIVINE. On to the main - we opted to split the prime rib. It's a hefty 14 oz portion so you definitely want to share. There are a variety of sauces you can have with your entrees here, and we opted for bernaise. It also comes with horseradish. For sides, we got the creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. Life hack, save a potato skin and top it with creamed spinach. The great Anna S showed me this hack, and I am here to say this woman knows what's up. In terms of drinks, I of course had to order a dirty martini. This is a classic steakhouse dirty. It is filled to the brim, so much so they don't even add the olives into the drink until you take a few sips. The olives are hand stuffed with blue cheese and a wonderful salty addition to the briny martini of your dreams. This place is a total vibe. The bar has its own menu as well featuring sandwiches and a burger so I feel there is something to enjoy for every price point and craving here. Loved my experience, and especially loved knowing this has been family-owned and operated restaurant in Baltimore since 1965! Reservation was made on OpenTable, we arrived in an Uber to a dark nondescript building, except for a mid 90's entryway of black polished marble and bright gold signage. Once inside it was very tight and busy. Very intimate yet stacked side by side, it had the feel of an old fashioned club that you needed to know someone to get into. We had an appetizer that was suggested, then we went onto wedge salads. Diner was Prime Rib for me and New York Strip for Mrs. Our shared sides were mac N cheese and onion rings. I just want to be clear: this was a really excellent experience. I don't usually write reviews, but the ones I've seen here for The Prime Rib were confusing and really had me on the fence about whether or not to bring my husband here for his birthday. Like any restaurant, there are imperfections, but 4 stars overall definitely isn't fair. The food was delicious. My husband ordered the 14 oz prime rib (which was definitely more than 14oz!) and I ordered the pork chop. Both were superb, and we don't feel like we missed out on anything by not adding toppings to our meat. We shared the lobster Mac & cheese--which is definitely more Mac & cheese than lobster, but still really really good--and the potato skins, which were really good (especially if you go for the bacon & cheese addition). We got the crab imperial as an app and enjoyed that as well. The portions are appropriately large. Sometimes with fancy restaurants, I expect small/chef's table type portions (which I'm also into), but that isn't the case here. Our waiter Nathan was great! Honest, attentive, and funny without being overbearing. The ambiance was nice. Is it the most modern place? No (and the cheetah print carpet didn't help). But the quality of service and of food, plus the live piano really made up for that. I will also warn that getting into the restaurant from the valet garage ($10 btw) is strange. But once you get up the stairs and through the hallways, it's an inviting environment. Now yes, this place is expensive. But we know this already. So if you don't want to spend $250 for two people, then this isn't the best spot for you. But if you want to splurge and have an old school dining experience that will leave your tummy and pallet satisfied, then I would recommend this place! (Sorry we didn't get any pics. Very expensive, very old school - basically to the point that the vast majority of the clientele is carrying AARP cards. I tried the prime rib - medium rare - as they're named after it. As is often the case with steak houses, they went light on seasoning. Unlike other steak houses (like Bones in Atlanta), I didn't find the sides to be particularly well cooked. Au Gratin potatoes, asparagus. I also had a bite of the "chopped steak" - which is basically just a high end hamburger with no bun. Pretty unimpressed, overall, and I have no intent to go back as there wasn't a single standout dish that made me think they had a higher ceiling. Rounding down a star because of *just* expensive this place is. It was $250 or so for two people. I will say I wish I'd ordered the NY strip - maybe given them a slightly better shot at delivering something that actually qualifies as steak. The service was predictably attentive. They don't get a bonus for that, though, because if you're paying even half these prices that should be a given. Interior: wood, live piano, white tablecloths. We finally had an opportunity to have dinner at the Prime Rib after living in Baltimore for more than two years. We had tickets to a performance at the symphony and decided to have dinner the Prime Rib before walking over to the Meyerhoff (the Prime Rib is conveniently located to a few theaters and halls, so it's a great pre-performance option). We started with the "Our Famous Greenberg Potato Skin Basket" - 4 perfect fried potato skins with horseradish sauce, which was a great starter. For my entree, I had the rack of lamb with mint jelly and amarena cherry mustard, which I really loved (perfectly cooked and well accompanied). My husband had the roast prime rib, and we shared the creamed spinach. Everything was good - but come hungry - these portions are serious! All our drinks were good as well - wine and cocktails! My husband and I are huge fans of prime rib and were super hype to eat here. I made reservations about 2 weeks in advance for a Saturday at 5 pm (we love eating super early) for our anniversary. We trusted Prime Rib with our 10 year anniversary dinner. That trust was well placed. Service was impeccable the whole night through. We started with drinks at the bar; my wife got an excellent aviation. I got a rye old fashioned. Both were excellent. We settled into our table with live jazz and the seafood sampler. Amazing prawns and oysters and crab. Excellent all around. We then transitioned to streaks (filet and ny strip) with brussels and lobster Mac as our sides. Everything was superb. It was excellent in the way that you almost don't understand what you need or want but the service provides exactly what was right. The seafood and meat was perfection, accompanied by excellent parings of white and red wines. To top it off, a chocolate dessert and appreciation from the staff and manager. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Baltimore! I typically go here for special occasions, so I was excited to spend my birthday there last night. Parking was definitely a challenge upon arrival, so after circling the block a few times, I gave up and valeted my car. Valet costs $10, so I recommend bringing cash for that. Upon entering the restaurant, no one was at the host stand to greet or seat me. I stood for a few moments before opting to sit at the bar. The bartender was friendly, quick, and attentive. I ordered a standard cocktail, the chopped steak, and a side of mashed potatoes. My food came out very quickly and was pretty tasty. The steak was a touch drier than I would've liked but ultimately, it was still a great meal. The mashed potatoes were like a boat so know that if you order them, you will likely need a box like I did. I ordered a piece of key lime pie to wrap up the evening, and the bartender was nice enough to put a candle on it and comp it for me as a gift.
