Me and a friend stopped in for one glass of wine. Kim was there and getting ready to close. We didn't realize it was after 9pm (they close at 9pm on Tuesdays) We said no worries since it was 9:05pm. Kim said we could hangout if we wanted one glass. She was so kind and this place is absolutely fabulous. Great wines, small plates, decor, all so well curated. Vegetarian and Gluten free fare too. I can't believe this was my first time. We chatted with Kim and learned about the wonderful events she hosts. I can't wait to come back with our friends. This is a nice wine shop with seating options indoor and outdoor for having a drink. The decor is nice and creative. They have a large variety of beers, wines, and alcohol--- and a few non alcoholic options that are not the standard ones you see. Staff was helpful, but please confirm which drinks you can have on site because apparently not all bottles are allowed. They had a calendar with a variety of tastings and events- not sure how they are, but it could be worth checking them out. read more

We attended a holiday party here during the week and it was wonderful! There was a selection of four wines and plenty of plates of bites and snacks making the rounds. The staff were all so friendly and attentive, we had a great time! The space itself is large, warmly lit and well-decorated to give it a cozy, homey feel inside a warehouse-type space. The walls are covered in not only wine bottles, but locally made infused bourbons, trinkets, gifts, and more. It's worth it just to walk around and see what's on each shelf - so much to look at! My first experience here was great (April 2022)- the ladies were nice and we had an enjoyable time trying out the wines. My most recent visit the staff was short, rude and overall seemed annoyed we were there. The wine flights are a great price and I love the concept because it's different from many other places in canton. However, there was no description or tasting notes on the wine flights, they were poured in our glasses and that was it. I appreciate the option to try wines off the shelf, taste a flight or even try the selection of cold beers in the fridge (there is a corking fee). Yes one half is a wine store; the other is a bar that leads to gluttony, a damaged liver and happiness (also provides cheese and charcuterie). The bar itself has only seating for 5 patrons (best if flying solo and want to socialize with locals) but there are plenty of tables in the back if you bring a friend or an entourage bigger than The Artist Formerly Known As... Restrooms are available too in case you've decided to over indulge or needed to relieve yourself from nature calls. Feel free to peruse my uploaded photos. The staff is friendly here. There may be as few as one or two employees present at a time. One is watching the register, the other pouring wines and cutting cheese at the bar. Every time I come here, I remember to pick up a bottle of the Jalliance champagne/sparkling wine (I know it's not from the Champagne region *sue me* but blended with a muscat grape, it's delicious). If you are more of a dry champagne drinker, then this isn't for you. My usual activities: (1) try a wine flight or open a beer (I don't know when I will retire the bottle opener from my keychain - I may never outgrow it) (2) walk around with my nose in the air, inspecting the available inventory. My favorite game is to determine how many bottles of wine I can buy with only 50 bucks. I lose often as I am mesmerized by a large Pinot Noir that exceeds the cap. (3) repeat step one. I wandered into Chesapeake Wine Company thinking it was just a wine shop, only to be pleasantly surprised that they're also a pet friendly wine bar with food, tasting flights, and wine by the glass or bottle. I did a tasting flight of the sparkling wines and really enjoyed it. The bartenders were super friendly. If you buy 6 bottles of wine, you get 10% off, including any food/wine you consume in house. I'd like to give this place 5 stars but this is a case where management itself has cost a whole star, even if half stars were an option here. Let's start with the good: Purely as a purveyor of alcoholic joy this place is convenient if you live in canton, the hours are great, and the selection is fantastic!!! They even had some non-alcoholic craft root beer that my SO hasn't seen since his college days in Milwaukee. So 5 stars there. On top of just sales, this place offers a dine/drink-in menu (only lighter fare like charcuterie plates and flatbread pizzas/quesadillas but they're still amazing and filling so it works!), live music, wine/beer tastings, special events. So it's not just a quick stop in but can be a destination for an evening out. The staff is knowledgeable and always ready to make recommendations based on your existing taste so you can expand your horizons with something new. Limited patio seating, and in a strip center, but hey, at least you can sit outside to sip your wine on a nice day. Now the ding: Overall, it should earn the 5 stars easily. But the owners should leave the service to the staff they hire. They, themselves, don't radiate the warm hospitality that one desires when drinking. I'm not a wine snob by any means but yes, I do know that champagne is only from France and that technically the rest is sparkling wine. However, when I'm in the mood to drink copious bubbly I don't want to be corrected whilst ordering. I'm also not a fan of feeling unwelcome with my babies. True, they're not paying customers. But we are. And we're repeat paying customers with ties to the community they're purveying in. So, if you don't have kids no worries cause they will happily boot those of us with kids as soon as you walk in the door. Since ownership is about to change, we'll see how the new place feels and I'll update you. Until then, I'd still recommend stopping in for a drink or to take home a bottle. First of all. This place allows dogs so you KNOW it's a fantastic establishment. Secondly. Free wine tastings?!? And dogs?! Say no more. This company is founded off of great wine and great people. The vibe feels like you're transported to a beach side wine bar as soon as you walk in. They have little snacks and food to eat along with your copious amounts of delicious wines. Wines ranging from $11- to higher amounts than I'll ever pay for a bottle of fermented grapes but wine for any kind of palate! Best of all, you can sample some of the wares, expand your palette, and have a little fancy cheese nosh while you're there. They have all the accoutrements for instant wine and cheese party, complete with Zeke's Coffee, baguette, and funny cocktail napkins. Prices are a touch high, but partly real estate and partly the quality selections. Apparently, child friendly (see sippy cup in photo). There were toys and toddler things all over the "living room" when we were there. Front porch is lovely and breezy on nice days when they open the storefront windows. read more

A wine store where you can sit outside, have a glass of wine, and order a snack. Chesapeake had me a wine store. They have a wealth of wines by the glass, but in case you're not thrilled by their choices, grab any bottle off the wall with a nominal corkage fee. We were lucky enough to stop by when they were waiving the corkage fee. The antipasto plate is perfect for snacking - especially if you like olives. I don't, but, I would totally get them on the side for the rest of you. The plate comes with with a selection of cheeses, we had two cheeses - a cow's milk and a gouda. Add that to the salami and loads of bread and we were all set. Chesapeake is the perfect spot for a low key happy hour or a quaint date night. read more

Let me start by saying THIS IS NOT A WINE STORE REVIEW. But, (you may be saying to yourself) isn't this a place to purchase various wines? To which I'm answering, first-stop talking to yourself and second-yep sure is, but what the Honeycomb Hideout Hellcat knows and you probably do not, is that this is a GREAT place to hang! Yes it's small with probably about 6 or 7 tables & 2 long wooden benches inside and 4 tables outside, but that's what's great about it. It keeps the masses out and allows for a great environment to sit back with friends and shoot the bull (or the breeze if it's nice enough out). I'm not a wine drinker but I am fond of the small stock of liquor they have only because Karen (ask for her) makes the best mixed drinks! The wine & drinks are about medium priced if you are buying in store to lounge around. The small plates are a delight as well. I never knew that biting into a piece of bittersweet, ashy chocolate on top of a funky piece of old cheese could be so appealing to the palette! =) But these are the tips you can pick up from the wine connoisseurs that happen to be sitting there in the store that probably have about 4 more glasses of libations up in them than you do. If you are a wine lover and love to buy, next time visit this place and allot some time to stay awhile. read more

This is a really cute little spot in Canton. Half wine store/half bar. They have a great selection of wines and the staff is super friendly and helpful. They have a selection for any price range. You can go in and shop (I like the tasters' notes they provide which describe most of them) or you can sit down at the VERY tiny bar with a bottle and order tapas style light fare. You can even sit outside when it's nice out and enjoy the beautiful view of Radio Shack, Starbuck's, Subway and Safeway. If you close your eyes you might even think you're in Spain. In the Baltimore area, a place like Chesapeake Wine Co. is a rare and practically unique occurrence so this is easily my favorite wine store/bar...alright, fine, I have several favorites but this one is really cool, too! First off, Chesapeake has a great selection, which is emphasized by the tasters' notes that are displayed next to most bottles. The ~15 ever-changing crates by the front entrance highlight new or particularly interesting wine merchandise and is a good place to focus the search if you're exploring. Secondly, Chesapeake is open late daily and even on Sundays! For those last minute party or holiday needs, this store can be a life-saver. This place also features a thorough variety of cheeses, bagettes, and some salami. Chesapeake also sells beer and liquor; thus, a stop here can complete restocking needs. The wine bar aspect is nice as well, featuring the outdoor option, indoor tables, and bar seating. Chesapeake also has regular tastings that can work great as an opportunity to meet others with similar interests--though most people tend to come in their own groups. Overall, Chesapeake is a classic with the only possible complaint being lacking decor--but, hey, if you're there for a delish take-home treat or a glass of wine, your attention is already pleasantly diverted. read more

Love this place! Great selection of wine at decent prices. You can purchase and open a bottle there for only a $6 corkage fee, and order food from their full service restaurant. Great options for hanging out - big couches in the back feel cozy and accommodate larger parties; small tables in the front where the action is; or bring your pup and sit outside. Wish the view out the front was better - a strip mall is not my fave view while sipping wine - but the quaint and cozy interior makes up for it. Que Shiraz, Syrah... I love wine. I rarely make it all the way down to this wine store in Canton, but happened to be visiting a friend down there, so I decided to swing by and grab a bottle or two for a dinner party I was going to that night. Great selection of wine! You can tell each bottle is thought about before it's put out on display, and they are organized and categorized with care. Not as big of a selection as say, The Wine Source, but definitely all your wine needs are covered. The staff was friendly and helpful - and covered their butts. When I asked what went well with ravioli, they immediately responded that they recommend getting whatever wine I enjoyed drinking. Well, thankfully, I enjoy every wine, so when I explained that and asked for a little more direction they pointed me in the direction of a peppery malbec from Argentina. Delicious and smooth and cheap! Only $11. There were definitely nicer wines for people who need a bottle for a special occasion, and they had all the extras you needed - chocolate, cheese, finger food, bottle stoppers, etc. read more

Kind of on the pricy side, but a really decent selection of beers and wines. Their hard alcohol selection was good too, though more limited and pared down to the basics than their beer & wine selections. Not an overwhelming selection of cheeses, meats & breads, but what they carry is quality stuff. The staff were always very friendly & knowledgeable. I used to stop in here about once a week on my way home from work to pick up a bottle of wine, a baguette and some drunken goat cheese. I kind of miss that ritual. Any establishment that carries Hitachino and Old Rasputin gets an immediate thumbs up in my book. read more
