Fried Green Tomatoes
Ren H.

Came back a couple times recently with friends for happy hour and dinner. This last visit for dinner, we got seated in the back dining area. My first time sitting back there - this restaurant is a lot bigger than it appears from the front! We ordered Fried Green Tomatoes for our appetizer. It was crispy and juicy with great flavor. For our main, we got the Thai Seafood Hot Pot and Tea Smoked Duck Breast. The hot pot was huge and full of seafood and deliciousness. I loved the duck breast and the sauce which tasted divine. Our drinks were great and our server was just attentive enough for our needs. Another amazing experience here as always.

This restaurant is much larger than I expected. There's a nice bar right when you walk in with plenty of seating, and tables extend toward the back of the restaurant. It also looks like there's a second floor for larger groups or events. The exposed brick gives it that classic Baltimore charm, and I loved the open kitchen because you can see a bit of the food prep while dining in the main area. The wine selection was great, and both the service and food were excellent. The octopus appetizer was my favorite. I personally would have liked a bit more spice in the seafood hot pot, but overall, it was a great dinner experience.

Great brunch spot. Really cute, good food and drinks, and spot on service. Everyone at my table did espresso martinis and we loved the cute designs they put in the foam. We split oysters and they were great, very fresh. I got the chilaquiles and they were very good. It was a good portion size and not too heavy like the dish can be at some places. I would come back!

Thai Pork Ribs

We came here for the first time this Sunday for Father's Day brunch and really enjoyed it! Our server was fantastic and everyone we interacted with was super friendly and welcoming, even on such a busy day! I had the Killa Bees: The Swarm, it comes in a cute bear honey glass, it was so refreshing. We also had the Prickly Pony Club, which was delicious. The lobster rangoon was so delicious, and the presentation was lovely. The shrimp and oyster gumbo was spicy and savory. For entrees, I really enjoyed the shrimp and asparagus risotto. The shrimp was a bit overcooked but really well spiced, and I think the risotto could have been creamier but that didn't stop me from eating it all. My husband had the Thai pork ribs over rice noodles and it was so good! The pork was tender and it complemented how light the noodles were. I think it could have come with more sauce! I am looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu!

Parked house rolls

Great experience here. Came for dinner on a Friday. The bar was packed but the restaurant wasn't. Started with the Parker house rolls. They were great & made me want more. The steak frites were cooked well. Had one drink (can't remember the name) but it was pretty and had edible glitter. Also shared a bottle of wine that was recommended by the waiter. Great recommendation and wish I would've written down the name. Would definitely revisit.

Bday dinner ( 7/23/2025 -5:15 pm)Our host was kind and so very charming and attentive. We sat in the beautiful outside area. The ambiance was WONDERFUL. There is a bar outside also; they have a happy hour. The food and drinks were great. There is parking near by at no cost. I will return to Gunthers!

Came here for my friends birthday and it did not disappoint. This was my third time at Gunther & Co and each time has been memorable. The open space in the dining area is truly one of a kind. The service was very attentive and polite. Our waitress was very helpful with menu choices. I had the pork chop and the steak tartare. Both were excellent. The pork chop was a huge portion which was perfect because I was starving. The tartare was very dijon forward but I love dijon so it was amazing.

Basque cheesecake was amazing- not too dense and had subtle flavors that made the dish interesting

I've been really impressed with the reliability of Gunther & Co service and food. They have a great space and service for private parties and events. On top of that, the brunch and dinner services are great. The menus vary seasonally and there's a good variety of dishes to meet anyone's dietary needs and preferences. The drink selection never disappoints either!

Gunther & Co is a great spot in Canton that I'd highly recommend. My boyfriend and I dined here for date night and we had a lovely time. The service was great, everyone was attentive to us despite it being very busy, and all of our food was delightful. The seating arrangements for two-person tables are a bit cramped, but that's to be expected at most places in the city. We started with some cocktails at the bar while we waited for our table to be ready - both cocktails were delicious and not too sweet, I could tell they really thought these drinks out. The prices for the cocktails were pretty average for a nice drink at one of these places, so no complaints there. I got the miso cod and boy, it was delicious. Absolutely no complaints - it tasted fresh, was cooked perfectly, and accompanied by great sides. My boyfriend got the duck and it was delightful, too. Something that we both loved was how fresh the ingredients really were. All the produce had great flavor and quality, well worth the price points of the dishes we got. We ended with splitting the cheesecake and it was amazing. The cheesy, rich cheesecake with a fresh chantilly cream, crunchy hazelnut praline, and gooey, thick blueberry compote was a divine combination ! We'll definitely be back!

The service was really nice here. We went on a Wednesday without a reservation and were seated pretty quickly. The food was delicious and it's a nice spot in the canton area. We left the restaurant feeling very satiated and wanting to come back for more :)

This is a great brunch spot in the Canton area. I'd love to come back for dinner since the menu offers more variety.

We had a fabulous meal here for our first visit ever. Emma was our waitress and was absolutely fabulous. Her recommendations were spot on and she was the perfect level of attentiveness. We had the beef tartare appetizer and the duck spring rolls to start. Both very good. Then my daughter had the kids pizza which was HUGE and I had the miso cod. The coconut sauce it was in was fabulous. For dessert we had the peaches and cream and flourless chocolate cake. Both really good but the Peaches was my favorite. All around a great meal!

Tell me about parking possibilities during Sunday brunch?

There is street parking adjacent to the restaurant and a large parking lot near the front of the restaurant. Beware read all parking signs clearly.

Is this like a place my grandma would go, a place I would take a date on a special night, or is it more for groups of youngish folks (20s-30s)?

Date night or nicer friends dinner.

Would you say this offers quiet dining?

Yes. Private dining area is also not very noise at all

We ordered the small raw seafood tower, the steamed seafood platter, and the lobster pasta from the large plates section. We are a family of four with a pretty big appetite, and it ended up being the perfect amount of food for us. Everything was delicious and incredibly fresh. The raw tower came with cocktail sauce, mignonette, horseradish, and lemon slices, and the steamed platter was served with melted butter and nicely seasoned spices. There was also hot sauce and Old Bay seasoning on the table so you could customize everything to your taste. Once the seafood arrived we got fully busy with our hands and all the tools provided, which honestly made the whole experience even more fun. I genuinely cannot pick a favorite because we enjoyed every single thing we ordered. I also tried the Orange Crush, which I learned is a Maryland vodka drink made with freshly crushed fruit juice. That drink was dangerous because it tasted just like orange juice, but the vodka definitely sneaks up on you. Since we were celebrating, dessert was on the house, which was such a thoughtful touch. We shared the cast iron baked cookie with salted caramel ice cream and it was the perfect ending to the meal. The cookie was crispy around the edges, soft and moist in the middle, and the slight saltiness from the ice cream paired so well with it. Our server, Lylah, was wonderful and made sure we always had everything we needed throughout the meal. This ended up being such a memorable dinner for our family. Highly recommend The Choptank for seafood, celebrations, and a fun dining experience in Baltimore.

The waitress made a bunch of mistakes that she never apologized for like not bringing a bottle of wine we ordered until an hour after we sat down, accidentally ordering an additional seafood platter and not removing it from the check, not including fries with a dish that came with them, then charging us extra for them when we asked her to please bring them. In total lunch took over 3 hours when it should have been half that at most. Good help is hard to find these days it seems.

Loved the atmosphere. Expect to put down at least $30 which was worth it. Fried Chesapeake Oysters with the dent corn hominy was excellent. I wish I did not have to share this appetizer. The Eastern Shore Crab Cake was large and perfect. Nicely prepared. The zucchini that came with it was also done well and not overly seasoned. The potato salad was a surprise. Not expecting much, it was one of my favorites, and I wish I could have a plate full of it to chow down. Make it a day and visit this establishment and enjoy the day. I've been giving out a lot of 5 stars recently, but this is a place that really deserves it. It's a must visit. It'd been many moons since I had escargot, so I got it. Despite one cooked snail being basically impossible to scrape out and my fine motor dexterity isn't great, it was delightful. My wife loved her seafood stew. Our shared side of the grilled Zucchini (definitely enough to share) was also a highlight. We've been raving about our fried clam sandwich and lobster roll since. Both were amazing; my wife said it was the best lobster roll she's had (we've never been to maine or anywhere known for lobster). The dessert passion fruit pie was a great way to end, also shared, but the crust was a little too thick and the dollop on top did kind of over power the curd. The birthday sprinkles (it wasnt either of our birthdays) were cute. We will be back. Especially to try the raw bar (We're pregnant and didnt want to risk it).

The crab cake absolutely lived up to its reputation--packed with large, sweet pieces of crab meat and very little filler. It was fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly light. The Seafood Combo was generous and perfect for sharing after a long day of exploring the city. The restaurant was busy but well organized, and the staff were friendly and efficient. The atmosphere felt lively without being overwhelming. However, after being seated, I waited 15-20 minutes while tables that arrived after us were served. When I finally got the attention of our server, Pedro, he took our order promptly, and I enjoyed my meal, especially the cream of crab soup, even if it was a bit on the warm side. My only issue was feeling rushed, as it seemed like Pedro focused more on his other tables. I had really bragged about this place to my partner, so I was hoping for a similar experience to my first visit.

Baltimore City Restaurant week, I love you!…read more I picked this restaurant for Winter Restaurant Week Lunch and I was very happy I did. Overall I had a very very good visit. I walked in and I was greeted immediately by Kelsey. I was informed I could sit where ever I wanted to sit and on which ever level floor I chose to and they would find me and take care of me. They did just that. I chose to sit on the 2nd level because it was a little warmer up there and I was able to have time to myself to catch up on my Yelp. I was given menus immediately although I already knew what I wanted. I ordered immediately and was informed that I made great selections and great selections indeed. I ordered their Firecracker Shrimp appetizer and B.A.L.T. Sandwich as my entree. The appetizer was plated lovely! It was so tasty and good. The B.A.L.T. is where we ran into some problems, but before I get to that let me finish out the greatness. The French Fries that I received with my sandwich was so good that I stop eating my Shrimp Appetizer because I had to eat each and every one of those curly seasoned fries. They were so so so good! They didn't even need ketchup! Now, this B.A.L.T. Sandwich was so sad I think I saw it crying on my plate. I got 1 scrawny piece of bacon for each half. They gave me the entire head of lettuce and I opted not to get the avocado and mayo but 1 miserable piece of bacon on each half... heartbreaking. For that reason this place gets a 4. Only reason I didn't give them a 3 is because the young lady that assisted (Kelsey) was fantastic! She was so sweet and kind. She came at the right time all the time and each time she needs to see me she had to run upstairs to check on little old me and appeared to have no problem with it. I would definitely eat there again but no way in hell would I order that B.A.L.T. sandwich. Ultimately worth a visit Yelpers !!
