If I could give no stars I would! We got there at 5:15 it's 7:30 and we are just leaving. Horrible service asked for a high chair 4 times before I ended up just waking up and getting one myself. Ordered 2 drinks took 26 minutes to get. Took 14 minutes to come tell Us that they didn't have the popsicle margaritas. Ordered meatballs those took 44 minutes to get. Ordered queso never got it. Ordered a sandwich that took another 35 minutes. Ordered a salmon salad had to ask where that was after 10 minutes of bringing the sandwich (nothing was mentioned by the server) . 17 minutes later salmon comes but not the salad it was something else. He takes it back after 15 minutes or still waiting for the correct meal, my husband is already done with his food, I finally say cancel the salad just bring me the check that too took another 10 minutes. He had 3 tables, time management was not in the cards for this guy I tried to be patient but he just didn't get it. Never again! read more

Today was the 21st Birthday of one of the sweetest girl, I know. We did the Dallas Buzz Bike and decided to go to the Rustic for dinner, and listen to some great music. We arrived, there was 16 people in our party. We took Ubers and the others that were driven by a DD. First, I want to let you know we called several days in advance to make reservations and this place apparently doesn't take them. Needless to say, our group waited almost 2 hours for a table, tables to be seated. While waiting the drinks were flowing. They decide to start cutting us off left and right. Nobody was causing a problem until a couple of guys in our group went to the bar to order some food. They had no place to sit down and decided to sit at a table that need to be bused. I have heard about how cool this place is, it is not. It's like going to the truck yard for over prices food and drinks and place that is ran by a bunch of assholes. You kick out three Instagram influencer, a senior level architect that has build most of the new buildings in Dallas. Medical VP, entrepreneur, Teachers, IT executives and Gun Marketer. We just wanted to continue our fun day with hanging out at your over hyped and crappy food establishment. I can't wait to hear what my friends say about our experience. Food 4 star Music Venue 5 star Drinks 1 star, this is the only place I have been in the last 30 years that I could drink myself sober for 130.00 dollars. Service, 5 star, until I tried to cash a 100.00 dollar bill so I could tip the musician. I was told at the bar I would have to return to my table and pay cash to my server to handle the transaction. I cashed out on my credit card and ordered 2 more drinks. 19.00 x 8.25%= 20.56. The change should be 79.43. I was handed 59.00 in 1's, 5's, 10's, and 20's. The old trick is to look at the amount of drinks consumed and pull the wrong change scheme. Only for that to work, you need to serve more alcohol to the patron. The ticket and the 100 dollar bid had to be carried back to the managers office to complete the transaction. The server didn't contest the mistake as he pulled the 20 out of his pocket. I should have asked for the person that cashed the ticket, but that was not why I was out on Sunday. I have been drinking in bars since I was 16, 39 years ago. I have had this stunt pulled all over the world. This is probably why they won't let them have any cash behind the bar. Funny thing, the 55 year old managers have also seen every stunt in the book. This place has a neat flair to it; fun, hip, full of 20 somethings. Yard games and picnic tables surround a humongous outside area. It's often a bit loud (as there is regularly an outdoor band playing on the stage); it will be hard to find a place to sit whether inside or outside on a weekend - I usually make for the grass, but it can be awkward with a goblet of beer. The beer selection is good but pricey, and the service staff often has so much on their plate that they may forget about you. The parking is often valet-only so it's smart to find a side street to park and walk a block or two. I haven't actually eaten here but I've heard it's worth a gander as well. Most people use this spot for large social gatherings and day drinking turned in to country night clubbing. Be prepared for the atmosphere - don't dress up too much; ladies, heels won't work so well in the sand of the backyard. Keep all these things in mind and you will probably have an enjoyable time. read more

I had a lunch visit after picking up a package nearby and was very pleasantly surprised. Jared and Jordan both took care of me, making sure I'm taken care of and well hydrated. I enjoyed the familiar feel, everyone calling me by my name and checking in even if I want being served by them. A side not, but the patrons were also very happy and more than polite. The food was delicious (had the burger with brisket). Wish I got the fries instead of the chips but that's more a personal preference. I would recommend this place on all accounts. I went to dinner at The Rustic last night and here is my experience. We arrived the hostess was very friendly and accommodating about seating. We sat outside and asked if they could turn the heaters on but she explained they aren't working yet. It was a little cold but we pushed through, plus they had the fans on (don't know why?) which made it colder. The server came over with water and we placed our order for drinks. I asked for Pilsner on tap but she said it wasn't working, UGHHHH, my favorite beer. She did however recommend another beer and it was delicious. We ordered the devil egg appetizer and I have to admit it was ok, not a lot of flavor. There was a lot of paprika on the bottom of the plate but noting on the eggs to add anything to them. For dinner I ordered the "tamales 3-ways" and my friend ordered the chicken quesadillas. The tamales were plated beautiful and tasted amazing! I wish the elotes side dish was served hot, I think it would been better. My friends quesadillas were not good, it tasted and looked like something we could get at a Chili's or TGIF restaurant. Was not really impressed. Over all the service was a 5 out of 5 but food was a 3 out of 5. read more

If I could give zero stars I think that would be more accurate. Upon arriving to this restaurant there were 3 workers in the hostess's station. 2 could not answer questions, never left the station and one was even taking photos of herself. Meanwhile guests were leaving, tables needed to be bussed and we had already been waiting to be seated for nearly 45 mins. NO OTHER GUESTS waiting. When I went to the hostess station for the 3rd time they proceed to tell me the kitchen is backed up and that's why they were seating people. Had they been honest and said that from the start we could have not wasted the 45 mins and went elsewhere. We were traveling. It was highly inconvenient and customer service and professionalism were definitely lacking. Do not go here if you expect to be seated or get any kind of service. read more

I went to the Rustic weeks ago and got food poisoning from the empanadas. Thankfully no one else ate it but I called to report it to them and no answer. I went in the following week during the day to speak to management and the assistant gm took my number down to get in contact with me later after speaking to the gm and no response. I've been to the Rustic a couple times now and had a good time each visit. The first time I came for dinner with my wife. The place was crowded but we didn't have to wait for a table. There was live music which made the place nice and lively. We got the family style tacos which were AMAZING! The next time we came brunch with a couple friends. Brunch is family style at a flat rate so they bring out a bunch of different dishes portioned out for the amount of people in your party. My favorite dish wash the Nashville hot chicken. Also, for $10 you get a carafe of champagne and a side of either orange or grapefruit juice, some sort of marmalade, and berry preservers for you to make your own mimosas. I will definitely be back to this place. Great place to bring people who come in from out of town. read more

My husband and I invited a group of 12 friends to join us for brunch yesterday. One of the floor managers, Steve, made our experience extra special. He personally ensured that we had the best possible time. The food, drinks, and service were phenomenal! Thousands of patrons probably pass through this establishment on a weekly basis, and really we're just another group of customers in that vast population. So, it was truly extraordinary that Steve made us feel so valued and cared for. We do our rounds in the Dallas restaurant scene, and I can say that many in the hospitality industry should take a page out of Steve's book, as he personifies "hospitality". Steve is a true gem, and in my opinion, a big part of what makes The Rustic one of the funnest spots to grab a bite and a cold one in Dallas!!! read more

This place is AWESOME!!! Had such a good time there. The outdoor patio is huge!! And there's so much to do out there! They have live bands on weekends (we got to hear The Nightowls from Austin...great band). The food was delicious! We tried their wings(which are ducks legs I believe), so yummy!!! In order to be fair, I'll tell you the good and the bad. The Good: 1. Beer- they have a really great selection. 2. Food- the spinach salad with chicken was to DIE FOR. It had golden raisins and pumpkins seeds... also a really great lemon dressing. 3. Music- they had a really good cover band playing that did a country version of "Royals" 4. Patio- REALLY AWESOME PATIO. The Bad: 1. Service was HORRIBLE. I consistently had to wait over 15 minutes to get a drink and they never filled my water glass without me asking. I counted 10 bartenders behind the bar and the service was still like molasses going uphill. Joe was one of the only people to check on us when they were clearly trained on team service. There was also a girl working behind the bar with glasses who was pretty rude. They would even make eye contact with you and just walk away. I've been in the industry 15 years and detest bad service. If they would correct this problem, they would be the best place around. The crowd really isn't my style... a bunch of douchebags pretending to be country... but I can get over that for everything else it has going for it. read more

This place is very cool but the service is very unfortunate. I've walked in and out of this place several times due to how busy it is, but that isn't the problem. I came here with a group of friends over Labor Day weekend that had never been before. We waited at a table for about 20 minutes and tried to flag down a waitress just to make sure we had a server and the table wasn't a "order from the bar table." One waitress flipped us off, that was polite. One waitress did come help, but was rude. I'm sure she was stressed, but that's not the way to handle it. My male friend asked for a manager. While the waitress was telling the manager our table wanted to speak to him she used the term "and that douchebag" RIGHT BEHIND US. I was the only one that heard. That's not okay. The manager came up, young guy, he was very polite at first but then told us that he didn't care if we came back and that we were bad customers. Easily a new household name in Dallas restaurants, it's not surprising The Rustic has found swift and massive popularity. It's not due to culinary greatness, and it's not due to hype. It's just the perfect combination of good food, charm, entertainment, space, class and yet a hometown feeling. It's New Country, embodied, really - less twang, more spunk, same spirit. The menu will offer new spins on classics - Cold Queso (pimento cheese) instead of the TexMex favorite you'd expect. Avocado salad, instead of a house salad. Homemade potato chips are the standard side instead of French Fries (cause - MERIKA!) Or opt for a Goat Cheese and honey appetizer. The menu is locally sourced and largely organic - and creatively designed. We had their shrimp, their pork chop, their deviled eggs, their club sandwich, their chicken sandwich and their burger. Oh, mamma, their burger. It's made with brisket, served medium, with white cheddar, burger sauce, sauteed green chiles and it's just so mouth watering. Arguably the best thing on their menu, although their chocolate cake is also to die for. The atmosphere inside is nice enough, and when they have a live band going it's a hard venue to beat. The environment out in the yard is my favorite thing about this place - spacious and homey, with bean bag games and tons of picnic table seating for groups. The only down side is out here you get about 2 star service. But in a 5 star venue with 4 star prices. It evens out in the end to a pretty good little spot :) (Don't check my math.) read more

So loud and crowded and no reservations for parties smaller than 20. What?? So basically you need to get there early enough to snag an open seating table outside or to minimize your wait for a table. Or you can do what we did and hover around people at open seating tables who looked almost done. Not obnoxious at all. Is the seating chaos and loudness worth it? Eh, questionable. The drinks were good and well-priced but weak. The food was just aiight. I had the crab quesadilla which sounded delish in theory, but in practice was too rich. Tasty, but I was over the intensity of the flavors after the first wedge. The night we were there, the live band was a British cover band. They were pretty good, but a British cover band at a western-themed bar was...odd? And at the risk of sounding even more like a crotchety old lady, it was SO LOUD. The wood burning outdoor fireplaces were pretty amazing, until I got home and discovered I smelled like I just rolled around in campfire ashes. And my purse smelled like that for a solid week before I could use it again. In conclusion, I'd come back for a special event, but wouldn't plan something here myself. Overrated. read more

I'm giving The Rustic 5 solid stars for the following reasons: 1. The awesome patio. Its large, open, and has a cool stage so you can enjoy some live music while you have dinner & a few brews. Great way to enjoy the evening (in good weather) 2. Local food. The meat, dairy and produce is all local & made from scratch. Everything we had from the deviled eggs to the rustic burger, the black pepper skirt steak to the wild boar meatballs did not disappoint. 3. A wide array of beers. 40 on tap, 30 local craft beers to choose from. Pretty decent micheladas too. 4. Members of the military, police officers, firefighters & paramedics are given a 25% discount. Great food, Great Drinks, Great Music, and one of the best places in Dallas to hang out and relax with friends or to have a date with your significant other. Something for everyone and there is always a fun, laid back vibe that will have you coming back often. Not the cheapest drinks around, but the location, decor, and vibe of the venue more than make up for the extra money in my opinion. Valet parking only in the venue parking lot, but there has never been an issue finding parking close by if you just really aren't willing to valet your vehicle. Great place to go after a nice dinner to wrap up the night and deliver a fun experience for anyone whether on a date or spending the night out with a group of friends. Atmosphere in spades! You walk in this place and you are immediately hit with the feeling of "TEXAS"! Awesome decor and the perfect kind of country music to set off the view of the lovely back yard patio complete with picnic bench tables, a green lawn for the kiddies to run around in, and plenty of umbrellas for shade. We were in early for Sunday brunch time. There is no brunch menu (yet), but the food we had was pretty good. Deviled eggs were great (loved the pork rind accent) and the chicken salad was tasty. Chunky avocado "salad" side was more of a doctored guacamole than I expected, so keep that in mind. Still tasty. Rest of the menu looks pretty good. I give the food a solid B. I know where I am, idjots!] I'd been walking past this place every day for weeks, and had heard raves from everyone I knew in Big D, so one warm Saturday night in late February I came here with a friend. I had high expectations--beautiful weather, a high-energy crowd, country rock pumping. We sat in the backyard, a huge open space with hundreds of picnic tables. But our server, a lethargic blonde named Sandy, could not have been less interested in serving us. I ordered a Sonoma chardonnay and she brought me a French chardonnay--which was not only more expensive, but tasted completely different--and it took 20 minutes to find Sandy to get it exchanged for the correct one. We also ordered glasses of water which never came. My friend ordered calamari and I ordered the crab dip. My friend's food arrived very quickly, but no sign of my food at all. Sandy never checked back on our table or on the status of my food order. After over half an hour (my friend's food got cold because she politely insisted on waiting for my food to arrive), we flagged down a different server and asked them to find Sandy, who finally came over and shrugged, "Oh, we're out of the crab dip." WHAT?! I had to wait a half hour to be told my meal wasn't coming? Her only explanation was, "It's Saturday, things are really crazy." We asked to speak to a manager. He came out and was very friendly--he apologized for the mix-ups and then performed a minor miracle: he brought out a crab dip dish (hmmm, I guess they weren't out, after all?). He also comped our meals, which was a very nice gesture. However, my crab dip looked and tasted exactly like cat food--it was scraped from a can--and the crackers were cheap Saltines, like you get with diner soup. And we never saw Sandy again. What a disappointment. As much as I enjoy a free meal--which is why I'm giving this place two stars, not one--the great communal atmosphere and music weren't worth the bad experience. This place is nice for groups of friends or out of town visitors. A group of us came for the brunch on Saturday, and to see Kirk Thurmond and the Millennials. As the group organizer, I arrived first. Service at the hostess desk was wonderful. They seated me right away, and allowed me to wait for the rest of the group at a table. Why on earth is the ENTIRE parking lot for 1 place valet only? Even when it's empty on a Sunday? Makes no sense to me. Thankfully the owners own Mutts across the street where everyone parks. This place is pretty good, the food is average (no bbq, baked potato, etc.- DO NOT get the deviled eggs) despite their name, decor and all the wait staff in western gear. They have a great live music guy who plays on Sunday. The guy on Saturday is also okay, but they turn his music up WAY too loud to where you can't even think inside. Went here last night with my Two sons and their wives. Waited over two hours for a table. Our table was given away and when we complained we were confronted by the manager. His response was to have security present and tried to have one of my sons ejected from the restaurant. The manager acted so poorly that two different security folks apologized to us because of the manager's behavior. They can't handle the shear volume of people. A beer and band yes. Dont come here hungry. This is a yuppie hang out, not an "authentic" Texas restaurant. Sure the food they serve might all be things found here in Texas, and the food was pretty good for the most part, it just felt fake. I should have known better when I saw nothing but luxury sports cars in the parking lot. I ordered the goat cheese for a starter then the quail for my entrée. Ok all you hunters out there, how many cooked quail should 18 bucks get ya? Well you get two here. Two! Along with a heaping side of slaw and some kind of sauce to dip your bird in. The slaw was not good according to the 5 people that were with us, and the four of us that chose the quail laughed and said it was cute. This is the appetizer right? Took literally 2 minutes to eat my dinner. I will say though that the service was excellent and the atmosphere was very "modern" Texas and not Rustic. I went to The Rustic this past Tuesday night. It was amazing! This place is not your typical uptown bar. It stands out and everyone that goes should feel incredibly comfortable. The drinks are great. The food is amazing! My favorite dish there was the grits and the quinoa burger. These are a must eat! There is a lot of outdoor seating which reminds me of Katy Trail Ice house minus the douchey crowd. I was there with a big group and Kelly was our server. She was incredible. Very quick about everything, very conversational, and you can tell she is a genuine and happy person. Having a great server makes for a great experience, so I wanted to take the time to commend her as well! I will be back here for sure! read more
