The kitchen

We were staying at the JW Marriott and went here for our anniversary dinner. The restaurant is located on the 11th floor of the hotel. We had stayed at JW before and had breakfast at Montage, but we never had dinner there. The ambience is upscale, modern, and attractive. Great views of the city. The restaurant is sleek and comfortable without being pretentious or sterile. Our server Adela was friendly, professional, and efficient. She absolutely added to our wonderful experience. The food: the kid had her usual spaghetti with marinara sauce and liked it. I tried a bite and sauce was not acidic or bitter. The wife started with burrata and basil and loved it. It was a generous portion that probably could be an entree. For the entree, she ordered the lamb shank and loved it. The meat was flavorful, tender, and juicy. The portion was large so she had left overs for the week. I started with the beet salad and really enjoyed it. I would preferred more beets and fewer greens, but the salad was good. The beets were perfectly cooked, not overdone. There was a goat cheese puree underneath that married perfectly with the beets. For the entree, I had the center cut filet. It was not inexpensive, but it was an anniversary dinner so what the heck. The steak was well seasoned and very flavorful. It was cooked perfectly to the medium I requested. It was a very enjoyable piece of meat and the quality was outstanding. Overall, we loved our meal. We were more than satisfied with our choice. The meat was the most expensive we have ever had, but it was worth the money.

I am staying at the hotel and had dinner last night here! It was fantastic and the service was great! It's a beautiful restaurant with an amazing view of the city. However the bread was some of the worst I've ever had at a restaurant- it was undercooked.

Restaurant with a view! Was skeptical at first with restaurant inside of a hotel and dinner menu was smaller in selection. It didn't matter. High marks for extremely friendly and attentive staff! They were also very knowledgeable about the entire menu. Pro tip, truffle fries may not be on the menu but you can still order it for dinner! Starter: Crab cake which was delicious! Plenty of real crab meat. Entrees: Green Circle Half Chicken and 8oz Center Cut Filet was even more delicious. Chicken was well seasoned and juicy. Peppercorn sauce that accompanied the filet was a match made in heaven!

Course 5

Will never return... The only reason I am giving this review any stars is because we went for Valentine's Day 5 Course Meal and not their regular menu; therefore, the experience might not be completely reflective of the normal meal. Unfortunately, it was so terrible, that neither myself nor my husband can stomach trying it again... For nearly $400, we had the worst meal of our entire lives. Course 1: LOBSTER AND BURRATA CREPE chicory was cold and the pastry was hard as if it had been sitting out for hours. There was little to no flavor. Course 2: CORN BREAD WITH HONEY BUTTER seasonal compote was also room temperature. The best part was the butter and compote. The bread was dry and underwhelming. Course 3: COGNAC AND CELERIAC BISQUE root vegetables, beet and orange oil, potato chip This course was probably the best part of the whole meal. The majority of it was cold, and the bisque was on the colder side; my husband thought it was cold, I thought it was room temperature as well. It had a nice creamy flavor and was one of the larger portions. Course 4: BRAISED LAMB AGNOLOTTI WITH LOBSTER BISQUE lemongrass xo sauce, fried sage Honestly, the smell of this put me off so much I couldn't eat it. My husband ate both and admitted it had a very gamey flavor. Lamb is usually my favorite type of meat. However, the smell of the fish was reminiscent of a pet store, and it was making me nauseous. Course 5: 72-HOUR SHORT RIB smoked carrot puree , onion panisse, celery, golden sauce The potatoes were like cold hash brown like blocks. The short rib was tender but fatty. It was lower quality than the catered short ribs people receive at a wedding. Not flavorful and very dry. Course 6: OPERA CAKE The main flavor was cold. In short, we will not be returning to this restaurant. It was incredibly overpriced, and the food was the worst I've ever had. Also, we had to wait about 30 minutes past our reservation to be seated, and 10-15 minutes between each course. It was clear the hotel had not properly planned out the logistics of the event.

Complimentary biscuits - AMAZING

An absolute beautiful restaurant with a gorgeous view. If you're staying at JW Marriott, I recommend you do brunch here. We absolutely loved it. Especially if you have kiddos, the attention to detail for kids is everything. The child menu kept our daughter entertained the entire time, that never happens. Before I go into detail, I want to personally thank whomever that came up with complimentary biscuits we inhaled them, and our server nicely gave us more. They really need to think about turning these biscuits into a SANDWICH because whew. To start, my man ordered the GREEN IMMUNITY, which he loved. It came in a full glass, he was surprised at how much they gave him. I ordered a MIMOSA because I'm basic, it got the job done. I have no idea why I kept it healthy but I did, I ordered the RICOTTA & BASIL SCRAMBLE, this was just okay to me. It was good, but nothing to scream about. My man ordered the CHICKEN & WAFFLES - he was very happy. The waffle was a jalapeño cheddar waffle, he just kept talking about it. I was a bit jealous. My daughter had the BACON and FRUIT (she's allergic to seeds, egg, and food), she was very happy with the bacon. It was actually amazing and I ordered a side of it. Overall - I'd easily come back here. The beauty of the restaurant, coupled with the amazing service and tasty food - easily coming back to try the burger, and dinner!

Location Downtown Dallas Parking Private lot-valet Atmosphere Marriott-classy Go directly to elevator on left-11th floor Seating Bar, couches, booths, tables Service Best in town Menu This was our first time with the brunch menu. Mimosa was good, full bar and beverages. Water served without asking. House cab=$24. The texas Benedict was perfect! Tender brisket, toasted english muffin, side of tomatoes. Summary Great location, outstanding food and beverage, excellent service.

Margaret's is a rooftop spot in the JW Marriott in downtown Dallas. We had the cheese plate and salmon tacos which were both excellent. Troy took fantastic care of me. Love the story behind the name. The story of Margaret's traces back to the early Dallas boom years, with "Margaret" being a popular name in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its named after influential women for a pioneering spirit of Dallas back in the day. Loved that they partner local and list their partners! 44farms, Heartbrand Ranch, Texas Fungus, Epicurean Greens, Azucar, Main Street Bakery, Bisous Bisous, Allen Brothers, Yellibelli, Mishima, Westholme Waygu, Free Bird Farms, Molino Oloyo, Tender Belly Pork, and NY Bakery.

Brussels sprouts are great as an appetizer or part of your entree. I kept my leftovers to eat as a snack.

Ok so this review is solely based on tonight's experience. Had a long day at work and came down to dine feeling a little annoyed. I was greeted by Brandon who I will say changed my entire evening around. Very personable young man and who answered all my questions and made suggestions on both dinner and drink menu. I came in looking to get the duck breast which they happened to be out of. He came back to deliver the bad news but was ready with a solution. He offered me the Chefs special. Something not on the menu. 1/2 lb Rock lobster tail 1/2 lb Gouda grit cake with Iberico pork cheek and a bed of sautéed spinach with lemon aioli. Jonah, the chef really outdid himself. This dish paired with the house Brussels was on point. Made me realize that we often don't know what we want until we've had it. I did skip the desert but ended with a double jack neat. I tell ya, the ambience was chill and the evening was kind of slow which let me and Brandon have some nice conversation about what a beautiful place Dallas is to visit. So besides good food, great service, amongst a pleasant ambience, he suggested riding a free local trolley "M-LINE". Best to check their schedule for your self but as I understand it, you can sight see, bar hop, cruise around town and all for free. Margaret's is located on the 11th floor of the JW Marriott hotel. So if you're a local and not staying at the hotel. You can still pop in and dine and visit these two fine gentlemen. If you're a guest in Dallas then consider staying at this hotel. Pretty sure you will have your own 5 star review to brag about.

My fiancé and I went to Margaret's for dinner. I didn't research well enough to know that it's not on the first floor, so you get a pretty skyline view (especially loved it on the moody, rainy day we were there). First, I will say service is top-notch. I really enjoyed everyone from the bartender recommending a unique drink, to our server who felt like a new friend, to the manager who proactively took care of all of our needs. We tried the "cornbread high tea" which is actually called Acknowledge the Corn. It was a fun experience where you slather cornbread slices with different types of butter (truffle or honey) and homemade preserve, a refined pork spread, or pimento cheese. You also receive complimentary biscuits, so we ate our share of carbs . We then shared the smoked Texas short rib for two and crispy Brussels sprouts. It was really good. Drink-wise, I had the Old Western and my fiancé had the Sippin Fireside. He enjoys all whiskey drinks and smoked, but he was so jealous of my drink. I wasn't sure about the sichuan peppercorn syrup, but it was perfect. I'd say service, ambiance, and drinks for the best. The food was really good, but the price was a bit steep for what it was. Overall, we had a great experience.

The montage is beautiful!!! It sits on the 11th floor with nothing but big windows to look out of. I went for brunch and the food was very good. It did come out kind of slow but well worth the wait. I had the Texas hash and changed the eggs to scrambled and it was very yummy!! I would definitely go back

Margaret's is located on the 11th floor of the JW Marriott and offers nice views for an evening dinner! They offer valet or self parking and the valet can be validated with the restaurant. I found the service to be of quality and our waitress was attentive. For drinks, I spent my time with Strawberry Lemon Drops and they were wonderfully made by the bar. I ordered the Charred Pawns as an appetizer and it was delicious! Definitely left me wanting more. For my entree, I ordered the Jumbo Sea Scallops and I thoroughly enjoyed this dish as well. I ended it off with a Strawberry Guava Cheesecake. I would definitely recommend this spot for a nice evening dinner!

The hotel property is like four legs under the table - a great location, a great hotel experience, a great restaurant experience, and a entertainment experience (The Mansion Bar). At least one leg has been kicked out, one is suffering. The Mansion Bar used to have a great recipe for success - proven by how busy and regular the customers were and loyal (or was), and the top tier talent that was routine for 10+ years. Me and my friends have a relationship with the long time staff as customers as well as the excellent music talent. The cause? Not precisely sure but I think it's new ownership, at the very least a new Food & Bev manager. I also know the staff is very upset about these changes and the relationships with the repeat music talent is now a mess. I wouldn't be surprise if the staff start leaving. I'm hoping whomever is making these decisions can revert back to what was working. Dallas has a lot of great venues that will fill this void.
