Horrible Service. While visiting Flying Dog, we ordered from their food truck. We ordered a mushroom and Swiss burger. After 20 minutes our burger was done and it was loaded with fried onions and only had 1 mushroom slice. For $11.00 I expected more mushrooms. I returned it and asked for a new mushroom burger with mushrooms. I was told they that they would replace it. 30 minutes later I still didn't receive my replacement burger. I went up to the truck to follow up. The woman told me that she gave it to someone else. I got my money back and left. read more

Niko and his team did a fantastic job for our wedding! The food was incredible! We had delicious crab dip, beef, salmon, smashed potatoes, and salad. Guests raved over the food and we made sure, as bride and groom, to take a break from getting pictures taken to eat an entire plate of food. Niko and his team also helped serve the ice cream dessert that we had brought in. One other huge benefit of working with Niko is that Roasthouse's events coordinator, Trish, worked as our wedding coordinator. She met with us multiple times and then went with us on site visits, before coordinating the actual wedding day. Trish is a pro and has a calming presence that kept us at ease. Even with all of the Covid protocols, Niko and Trish and the team made everything happen and did so in a way that made everyone feel comfortable and safe. read more

Our bartender, Marcus, was friendly, fun and knowledgable! Great microbrews! The crab dip, with goat cheese, rocked!! Wings were good. Nice decor, friendly atmosphere and clean bathrooms! Will be back! read more

The good: - Great beer selection - Rotating taps - Food is generally good The bad: - Beer is consistently served way to cold for the styles they have. No need for Miller Lite temperatures! - Small menu that keeps shrinking. - The seem to frequently run out of menu items. - Parking is tight when it is crowded Except for the parking, the bad stuff can be fixed easily. This place should be or 5 stars, just needs some tweaking. I keep coming back for the beer selection, but I'd be in more often if they upped their game. read more

Love the Beer selection, not your standard stout, lagers and IPA's. Lots of local beers. Food was good, no complaints.

This was a disappointment, while the food menu is small the beer menu was huge! We waited an hour and a half for our food, and they server did not come back to check on us! Food was Ok, but not worth the wait, unless you order it 1 day in advance. read more

We first came here several years ago and watched it go downhill. They've been through some changes over the years and we decided to try them again. We were so glad we did! The food is very good and we've tried several things. They have 20 beers on tap that rotate so there is always something new to try. The bartenders are very friendly and knowledgeable. The only downside is the place is very small. If the equally small parking lot is full, it's probably packed inside. read more

Beers: four stars. Selection of twenty on draft, including two on nitro taps. Bottle selection also. Prices are decent. Service: very good. Bartender knew his beers, made good suggestions, and was attentive and friendly. Food: Good. Small menu. I was torn between the french dip and the wild boar bangers and mash. I chose the french dip, which was ok, but I was thinking about the wild boar I passed up the entire time. Sandwich was accompanied by one side, I chose the brussels sprouts which were quite good. Interestingly enough, fries are not available as a side, even with the burger. Nothing wrong with that just a little different. Prices are reasonable. Parking: a little bit of a challenge. Don't park right in front of the building, otherwise it's hard to pull back out (busy highway right behind you). Bottom line: we would definitely return. read more

Best blackened salmon salad I've ever had...every time I order it. Servers are friendly & knowledgeable. The new patio is lovely.

We came here to have a good meal. Yes we came at 745 on a Saturday night but to be out of a lot of things by that time is kinda crazy. They were out of the turkey pot pie, crab soup, and Brussels sprouts with bacon. I had the prime rib with au jus. The downfall was the chunks of meat kept falling into the dip, I think it needs to be shredded or thinly sliced, other than that it was good. The red skin potatoes were ok - felt a bit over cooked by the burnt pieces but undercooked. The burger was dry, they didn't ask how he wanted it cooked and he kept dousing it in ketchup cuz it was so dry. Their beer selection is great. And they do offer specials during certain games so that was a pleasant surprise. I'd only return for the beer selection! read more

Roasthouse was incredible. I had three amazing sours (shoutout to the bartender Rachel for recommending them!) and some delicious crab dip. I loved the atmosphere and the fact that the bartenders were so helpful and welcoming - someone greeted me when I walked in! It's a beautiful bar with 20 taps read more

Common theme among other reviews. Beer great... Everything else meh. Ordered $20 scallops and orzo which was appetizer size and not that flavorful. Kids pizza was disgusting (pizza seriously?) and French dip was worse than Subway. Beer was very good and selection better than most any other place in Frederick. Service was average at best. read more

I didn't even order my food! I went to their food truck parked at Flying Dog, walked to the window, and asked the guy working the truck what his burger (listed as market selection was) was tonight. He proceeded to tell me about the 2 options, which sounded great. I hen asked which one he recommended, he replied with "listen, I am trying to serve a dish, just leave me alone for a minute and I will be with you." No thanks, I am not that hungry. read more

I had high expectations going to Roasthouse for the first time after the Frederick Runnning Festival 5k with my family. My expectations were qucikly dashed as it took a long, really long time to get service. Once we were finally served the waitress brought my mom a 1/4 pour because the keg kicked. This was fine because my mom is not a big drinker, what is not fine is that we were charged for a full pour (Really???). When the waitress was ready to take our order she informed us they were out of house salad, crab dip, and glazed carrots, but not carrots. Once our food finally arrived 2 out of 2 burgers were cooked to very rare when they were ordered at medium well. These were sent back and when they brought out 2 new burgers the were cooked better but one was originally ordered without cheese and both burgers had cheese. So a third time's a charm right? Well no this time the burger came out like beef tartar. She finally gave up and ordered the hot dogs. Other than that the food was good especially the quinoa salad. I wish I was the only person who had an experience similar to mine but the more people I talk to it is becoming apparent that mismanagement is really hurting a bar that has a good idea. The whole time there my dad kept saying they really need Bar Rescue to visit, because it will only take a few small changes to make this a great bar. read more

We decided to spend our Friday evening at Roast House Pub since we could use our Restaurant.com gift certificates there. We arrived around 5PM to a full bar,.so we chose a seat in the dining area. It took about 10 minutes for the waitress to bring drink menus and then another 15 or 20 to ask of we'd like to order something and bring the food menu. A half hour later we finally flagged her down and told her we would like to order appetizers. She never brought water or told us of the days specials and we received our appetizers in a timely manner. The General Tso's chicken wings were in need of a few more minutes under the broiler, the crab dip was satisfactory. Our waitress notified us that her shift would be ending soon so we paid for the food and drink we had previously ordered so she would get her tip before leaving for the evening, then we were given a new waiter. He was more attentive and told us of the days specials but still no water. We ordered a hamburger and one of the specials which was a short rib on top of mashed sweet potatoes with maple glazed carrots. I enjoyed the sweet potato mash but they were very greasy from the rib which sat on top and would have been much better if served on the side. The carrots were pre-packaged baby carrots with a glaze, very par. The side of roasted red potatoes served with the burger tasted like they had been fried in overly used oil that was old. On top of that they would not honor my coupon for either $25 or $50 amount. We gave each waiter a $10 tip which was over 20% of each bill. Needless to say the $120 spent could have been a much nicer meal somewhere else. Unfortunately we won't be going back. read more

I have visited this pub a few times since they opened and have had very good experiences in each of the most recent visits. My first visit was not so enjoyable with poor and very slow service. The upside of this visit is that I let the chef know about our experience before we left and received a call from the owner the next day wanting to know about the experience so that he could correct the problems. Apparently he did because as I said above, our last few visits have been much better. Although my guests and I have tried many different entrees, and beers, the highlight of the menu has to be the prime rib, either the prime rib french dip, or the cave-man portion of prime rib. Several of my party ordered the "queen" sized prime rib. When they brought the dishes out we thought that the table may need some reinforcing ... they were enormous. The prime rib french dip which I have had on several occasions is still my menu favorite, and although I always talk it up to any new guest I am entertaining, it has never disappointed. I also really enjoy the rotating selection of craft beers and have spent some time sitting at the bar and speaking with the beer aficionados that seem to congregate there. There is something about drinking a great beer while talking about all the great beers. I would recommend that you give this unique (nothing fried ... no cook top ... just roast) pub a try. read more

What a nice little place! Clean and comfortable setting. I had a crab cake sandwich that was very nice. You choose a side with certain orders so I ordered the glazed carrots that had a very nice flavor. This is a pub and they have a large selection of handcrafted beers. Frankly I don't remember the selection I made (Starr Hill King of Hop Orange??) but it was tasty and of proper temperature. Many beer selections! The server was very friendly too. Will definitely return. read more

This pub by far is our favorite pub in the Frederick area. The selection of beers on tap can't be matched and is always rotating in new fresh brews from the DMV. The food offerings are amazing, last night our table ordered the blackened salmon, French dip, the signature burger and a new item for us, ham brisket with bacon. It was an incredible meal for all. For our sides we had the red roasted potatoes and brussel sprouts with bacon. The service is always attentive and happy to make suggestions on the right beer or menu item. The atmosphere is what you would expect for a pub, it has that neighborhood pub vibe and everybody is having a good time. Bonus, we saved 10% on our tab by using the Spotluck app. read more

Great food! Local ingredients and great dishes. The burger is to die for and the side items are amazing beer selection is great many to choose from and excellent selection I love the push to local beer and food. Atmosphere is fun and inviting be warned it's a small place and they go get busy. But definitely worth a visit. I will absolutely recommend it and can't wait to try again! Keep it up Roasthouse! read more

My boyfriend and I came here after flying dog and it was the BEST pub food we have had. I had the blackened salmon with mashed potatoes and the house salad, which was absolutely cooked perfectly and his blackened chicken tacos were spicy heaven. We didn't take pictures because we were too enamored with the food. We had the crab dip as an appetizer and the ratio of crab to old bay and cheese dip was right on. Better than dogfish head which was previously our favorite so that's saying something. The beers we had were fantastic craft brews and we couldn't have asked for more. We will be back soon! read more

This place always makes me happy. Been here on a first date and it was such a relaxed setting for that. I still remember the one time I really feel like I started appreciating beer after having a cookie stout here. Food has been good and not as great over multiple times going here but I would order off the food menu again. Only caveat is the place is usually busy, but that's a good problem to have! Oh and if memory serves they have lavazza coffee with is delicious. read more

Whenever my husband and I get a free night it is a no-brainer to come here for dinner and drinks. A lot of people mention the unrivaled beer selection, which goes without saying, but the specials are always something thoughtful and fresh. On my most recent visit I had General Tso's wings over a bed of sticky rice, and the sauce was homemade- truly spectacular. I was a big fan of sopping up some General Tso's wing sauce with the sticky rice at the end.. nice touch. Don't expect a cookie cutter applebees kind of experience. Food times vary and the staff takes time to talk to customers and explain the different beers.. so have a beer, order some food and relax!. They have four TVs and will usually put on whatever game that you want to watch (if they aren't too busy). This place has gone through changes, and I think a lot of people got burned out by the inconsistency- which is totally understandable. I'm writing this review to say the place has found its stride and is at the top of it's game. read more

Excellent quality food and service at The Roadhouse Pub. I've eaten here five times in the past six months. Most recently, Max was our server and provided us with menu and drink selections with a cool and positive vibe. The restaurant is clean, cozy and doing something special in the kitchen with local ingredients and quality meals along with an expansive craft beer selection. This restaurant is quickly becoming a favorite of mine! read more

This is my favorite place to have a terrific beer (lots to choose from) and great food. The atmosphere is quaint with lots of wood surroundings which adds that cozy feeling. I'm so jazzed about this fantastic restaurant: awesome craft beer selection, delicious food and a great atmosphere. The staff is friendly and attentive. This place appears to be a dive that is trying to be upscale. The menu items are pricey and they don't seem to have the proper glasses for the craft beers. I know..I am a snob. I am not sure what has changed here since my last visit. We tried to call to see what time the prime rib would be available on Saturday. Nobody answered the phone and we attempted to call twice. Anyway we arrived at 4 Pm and had some wings and beer so that we could put in an order for the prime rib at 5. The wings were cooked nicely. Juicy with a crisp skin and the fresh chicken flavor shined through. However, the creole rub was a very light dusting that was a bit on the salty side. The Blue cheese was very mayonnaise-y and I could barely detect blue cheese. It was served with baby carrots. They were okay. One had some brown spots. I feel like fresh sliced carrot sticks or celery is preferable. We ordered the largest cut prime rib medium rare. It is no longer a bone-in cut but, it was cooked perfectly, flavorful, and tender. However, the value was not there. At least 1/3 of the steak was a fat cap that we cut off. Don't get me wrong, prime rib s generally a bit fatty. But 1/3 of the steak was inedible. The garlic mashed potatoes were divine. The Brussell sprouts were not as good as before. They did not seem to be slow roasted. They were slightly bitter from being cooked on a higher heat. The craft beer list is great. They 20 rotating taps. Our waitress did say that she was new and it was either inexperience, lack of training, or poor management. It seemed somewhat chaotic. There were two waitresses and a bar tender. Our waitress had to be tracked down so that we could order another beer and dinner. She was behind the bar washing glasses and talking to other customers. Then she disappeared. I am not sure if she was on break or that it was the end of her shift? The bar tender took over waiting on tables. I don't understand why the waitresses were behind the bar washing glasses and socializing when they should be waiting tables. At the time it was not that busy to where a bar tender could not keep up with washing glasses, etc. This visit was not as impressive as the first. read more

I honestly think Roasthouse (which I keep calling Roadhouse by accident) is one of the best in Frederick right now -- it is excellent. People are taking notice. We tried to stop in here no less than 3 times before we were able to find a parking space so we could go inside. It is a tiny, tiny building right off the road, and it is often as packed with people after 6. The menu all looks delicious, but unfortunately when we got there, we were just in for dessert and a beer. They have one of the largest tap menus I have seen anywhere locally, and it is diverse between craft beers from far and wide, local brews, and stand-bys. I get really excited whenever I see Smuttynose on tap anywhere. It's clear though that they are focusing on local brewers: Flying Dog (here in Frederick), Dogfish Head (DE), Barley and Hops, Brewer's Alley... all within driving distance. I got a pumpkin seasonal beer and bread pudding. Our bartender was very knowledgeable and nice, made good conversation even when the bar started to get busy, and served us quickly and efficiently (BIG plus). Also, about 10 minutes after we sat down they turned on Star Wars on Spike TV. HUGE plus. The bread pudding came and it was a beautiful, fragrant chunk. I love bread pudding, but the important point is that by the time it is served the bread parts still need to be a little bit crunchy while the pudding part should still be warm. It sounds easy enough, but when a piece sits, you get a sogginess throughout and then its quite disappointing. If you had asked me, I would have guessed they made this bread pudding while we sat at the bar. It was PERFECTLY hot and perfectly crispy and pudding-y all at the same time. I actually thought it was far bigger than the portions of bread pudding you can get at other places around town, which is funny since so many reviews say that the portions here are small. I definitely did NOT experience that or witness it when the servers were bringing out orders for other tables. I think comments like this really boil down to expectations. In Frederick, many chain restaurants and even "family" restaurants subscribe to the "more is more is more" mantra, and you can easily find a 7000 calorie meal without really even thinking about it, and pay surprisingly little for it. Few (Tasting Room, Firestone, Roasthouse, and Volt come to mind, but there are others) really just have different priorities than making sure every patron hobbles out with their pants tight; they have different VALUES. The money you pay (which was another thing we were surprised how INEXPENSIVE it was for what we got -- 3 craft beers and dessert -- compared to other places where we could have ordered the same thing) goes into the ingredients and the care and preparation, so that the result is like something you would make from scratch for your own family rather than something pulled from a freezer and thawed. I travel around a lot looking for places that cook the way I eat: SIMPLE, QUALITY ingredients, creative and comforting recipes, and care in preparation. Roasthouse definitely delivers, in spades. We chatted with the bartender a bit on our way out trying to figure out when we would be able to come back and it wouldn't be packed. She suggested that it tends to get busy around 6, which fit our limited observations. This is a great place to go for lunch or an early dinner if you are trying to beat the crowds. Otherwise, you really just need to watch the local sports calendar and know that when a game is on, this place will be hoppin. I can't wait to go back! read more

This place is always bringing us back for different reasons. The beer selection as noted is quite prolific and fun for any craft beer enthusiast to explore. The designated driver at the table won't be disappointed either considering all the delicious food that's coming out of this kitchen. I've never been disappointed with a meal and would recommend anything I've gotten here. Great cozy place for such comforting foods like crab dip, a good cheeseburger, wings and more. Awesome staff too, friendly and welcoming! read more
