Fantastic food and service. Best lobster bisque in St John's. The outside seating is really nice. My husband had the shrimp and lobster pasta and I had the seafood thermador (something like that) it was absolutely delicious. Will be coming back. read more

Not the worst but not the best either. We had a ton of people tell us how much they loved this place and we read the reviews, so naturally we were excited. The establishment has a great feel and look to it. The vibe is upscale which makes you think the food is as well. Sadly it's not. The people stating it's a fine dinning experience have probably never had one. Let's start with the dinner salad. It was a plate of greens with a small handful of cranberries and two small pretzel sticks. . No tomato, no onion, no anything. Just salad. LoL. Looked like a kid made it for me at the Ruby's Salad bar. The entrees were ok. The food was bland and portions were a good size. I could see how some would think food was good but after a weekend of delectable St Augustine cuisine, this was a let down. The pork special was over cooked and covered in balsamic. Like drenched in it. The entire plate was covered. The vegetables, the pork and the grits.....it was all we could taste. Had key lime pie for desert and it was bitter. ‍ My final issue came when I saw they add gratuity to every check. Even a 2 top. Here's why I don't like that .....first, let me state that 20% is what I tip for average service but mostly give 25% to 35%, because that's what I like to do. When there's auto grat on every check, I feel the wait staff has a blasé approach to table service. They know what they are getting and rarely try to exceed expectations, which was exactly what we received. I still added an extra 5% on the check though. Maybe we just had a one off experience, who knows and if you go here, I hope yours is better. read more

Really charming location in a house with an extended outdoor seating area. Our waiter was excellent and attentive. The food is good- the escargot is a little odd though, as they add mushrooms to it and too much white wine-I prefer the more classic presentation. The baguettes are very tasty. The pork schnitzel could use a sauce but the other entrees we had were cooked well. The drinks on offer were very good, including dirty martinis and their red wine selection. Steaks and seafood come with various preparations and sauce choices. All in all a relaxing dinner on the patio. Would return. read more

The best dining experience we've had in a long time. From the quaint ambiance to the professional service to the wonderful meal itself, we loved everything about The Raintree Restaurant. First off, Joshua was exceptional. So professional with impeccable timing, never smothering or chatty. The prime rib is only served in limited quantities on Friday and Saturday evenings. I was fortunate every nough to get a perfectly cooked piece along with mashed potatoes and their mixed vegetables and fresh salad. My wife really loved the striped sea bass. The place was pretty packed so I suggest getting reservations. Definitely the best meal we have had during our stay. read more

First of all, the web site hasn't been updated. The prices are wrong. The escargot is $17 and the worst I've ever had! Although with that said, everything else was fabulous. I had the rack of lamb, delicious! My grandson had the beef Wellington and said it was very good. My wife had the lobster thermador and I had a few bites. Very good! We decided to eat here for Thanksgiving bc they were offering a traditional Thanksgiving meal. We started with a bottle of wine, gumbo soup, and bruschetta. I wasn't a huge fan of the bruschetta bc it was hot. It was good but not my style. The table also got an old fashioned and Manhattan and both were delicious. My husband got the traditional Thanksgiving dinner and loved it. I got the filet mignon with extra vegetables. The steak was cooked perfectly. For dessert we did the bread pudding and brownie. We made reservations and they had parking in the back. The service was great and we were well taken care of. John was our server and he was great. The capellini pomodoro with shrimp was a table favorite. The sauce had just the right balance of basil and the shrimp was tender. The blackened Mahi was prepared perfectly. The combination of fresh vegetables was a nice surprise: peppers, green beans, and carrots.  All fresh, with vibrant color. We had excellent service. We stopped in here for dinner before a show at the Limelight Theater (which is only a short distance away!). What we loved: -Food was all around excellent. From the bisque to the prime rib to the signature beef wellington - best I've had in forever. -Both interior ambiance and outside dining area are so warm and inviting. -They have their own parking lot! -Close to the Limelight Theater. -Alara was an excellent server. What we didn't love: -Absolutely nothing! Everything was perfect for our date night. In summary, we will be back for a special occassion or another theater date night. So I'm about the nicest guy there is and if you tell me your restaurants closed I'm good with it. but I put myself on a waiting list here 30-45 min wait . Well then I showed up it was exactly an hour after I checked in and They said the kitchen was closed. There's still 40 people eating the restaurant so great offer me a Keylime pie to go or appetizers or a drink but I turned down other restaurants because I was waiting to eat here and instead I got a rude hostess Older maybe mid 40s who had nothing but attitude and no customer service, I've never been treated so bad in my life I give them a one star for the cute building. read more

My friend took me here for a birthday dinner and I was not disappointed. This is one of my favorite stops on our trip. The service was phenomenal. The food was outstanding. The bartenders were excellent and attentive as well. The decor was just beautiful. There is not one thing I would complain about with this place. Unexpected trip to Raintree but I really felt the stars aligned to bring us to this fabulous dinner spot! Won't go into the details of getting here, but I do know that spontaneous trips to this place are typically a no-win but tonight it worked in our favor! We were able to sit outside on this chilly October night which was wonderful. We were seated rather quickly (we called at 4:45 and they had one 5:00 spot open so we slipped right in!) which was great too! Service was amazing. And all of our food was cooked to perfection. From our delicious charcetuerie board and escargot (amazing!), to the perfectly cooked medium rare Beef Wellington, and my husbands delectable roasted duck. We were in heaven! For dessert we got bread pudding, my husband got an espresso martini (omg yes!) and I got a "Cinnabon" which was fireball whiskey with Rum chata. It was like Christmas in a cup OMG! Really we did not expect this quality of food ina little spot like this. I think I heard they have prime rib here, and if that's the case I'm TOTALLY taking my father here to enjoy one of his favorite dishes because I KNOW he will be delighted with a meal here. My second time coming here was as good as the first to start off with the bar has an amazing selection of libations and iron bourbons at a reasonable price. For an appetizer I started off with the escargot which is done in a light wine sauce It wasn't too heavy and saved room for the main course which was lamb chops for me and a lobster shrimp pasta and an alfredo sauce for my wife both were outstanding It also comes with a small salad. For dessert I had the peanut butter cup cookie with a cappuccino ice cream sandwich that was to die for in a cup of espresso both of which were fantastic I would highly recommend this to anyone coming to St Augustine as a must stop. read more

Atmosphere is so good, very homey feel. Friendly staff and good service. My 3 stars is because the hostess said all items on the menu are gluten free and the waitress said something different. If you happen to be in St. Augustine, I highly recommend dining at The Raintree - It's a must! The restaurant is absolutely beautiful inside and out. It has been nationally recognized multiple times as one of Florida's top destination restaurants. The beautiful building itself is a transformed Victorian home over 130 years old. It has been a booming business since 1981 and continues to have a bustling crowd on a daily basis. I recommend making a reservation. The atmosphere is absolutely charming. The garden is beautiful with ample seating, twinkle lights, and outdoor heaters if the night is chilly. Tables are private, surrounded by trees and if you're lucky, you may dine in an enchanting gazebo. The restaurant inside is just as beautiful, warm and inviting with incredible history. Many tables offer privacy, there is a large bar, and The Raintree also accommodates large gatherings and dinner parties. The service was impeccable! We sat indoors in a private cozy corner and were waited on by Austin who was great. He was attentive and extremely knowledgeable about all menu items and drinks. He did explain to us that a 15% gratuity is added to all checks which ensures the servers, bartenders, and bussers get paid. I appreciate the fact that a business is guaranteeing their employees a paycheck, especially since servers only make @ $2.00 base per hour. Guests are always able to tip above that amount if they feel their server exceeded expectations. Now, the food... oh my... The menu blends Mediterranean, American and Asian cuisine and the Beef Wellington is a menu favorite. All meals begin with a mixed green salad - fresh, crisp, and delicious. I ordered a filet encrusted with blue cheese and my husband ordered the brandy pepper steak topped with grilled shrimp. Both meals were beautifully plated and tasted even more decadent that we imagined. The steaks were fork tender, cooked to perfection and the blue cheese topping was incredible. The mashed potatoes and green beans were perfect sides for a steak, as was the side of sautéed mushrooms. The dessert menu is impressive as The Raintree has their own dessert chef on staff each day. We were too full that particular night but decided to come back later in the week, just to enjoy dessert in the beautiful outdoor atrium setting. We ordered the Cinnamon Banana Crepe and the Warm Chocolate Dome Cake with coffee and cocktails. Everything was delightful and delicious. The service, ambience, and food are excellent here. We sat outside and were enjoying a romantic dinner when two separate groups were seated next to us, both parties with two dogs each. Then the barking began. Back and forth. We couldn't hear each other talk! We both love dogs and have never had a situation where the owners didn't control their dogs like this. My husband finally went to the manager who refused to do anything about the barking dogs. Sadly, we wanted to stay longer and enjoy the beautiful evening but left early. Seriously, who allows their dogs to bark almost continuously while people are around them eating expensive meals? Shame on them! And shame on the manager for not addressing the situation. read more

I can honestly say this restaurant did not exceed my expectations. We came for our anniversary while on vacation. I have been craving to have beef Wellington, and it is so hard to find at restaurants. Needless to say when I saw they not only had it on the menu, but is one of their specialties, I was very excited to try. The shell around the meat was more of a bun, and not a flaky dough.
