My brother and sister-in-law recently moved into this Denver neighborhood and the Plimoth has become one of their favorites, so they naturally made a reservation here when the rest of the family was in town for Thanksgiving. We dined here the night before Thanksgiving, so it was fairly quiet (although the acoustics aren't that great, so speak up if you're in a big group). We were seated in the side room near the open kitchen and were immediately brought menus. My SIL and I started with cocktails; a French martini for her, and an Earl grey infused collins for moi. My mom and dad each had a glass of wine and my brother had a beer. Upon the server's recommendation, we started with the cauliflower gratinee, which was delicious!! Even if you don't like cauliflower, you'll love this. My mom and dad shared the chicken liver and enjoyed it. My brother had a salad (which is a testament to this restaurant as I do not believe I have ever seen my brother willingly eat a vegetable!) and my SIL had a savory-sweet pumpkin bread starter. For mains, my dad and I had the curried vegetables; my mom and SIL had the crispy chicken and my brother, the pork loin. The pork loin looked like something from The Flintstones, but he managed to eat all of it! The ladies enjoyed the chicken and my dad and I both agreed that the vegetables had a delightful and nuanced level of spice. We were too full for dessert, although my brother had an espresso to close out the meal. In addition to fantastic and thoughtful food in an unfussy atmosphere, the service was delightful. I think this has to be one of my favorite restaurants in town. Located in the city park neighborhood the atmosphere is unique and as if you're walking into a friends house for dinner. There is a small bar when you walk in with a great selection of liquor and wine. The food tastes so fresh here I think if the food as being farm to table. The menu is great and not overwhelming as they usually have a variety of starters, one chicken, beef, fish, and vegetarian option. Their menu rotates throughout the year and I'm always impressed. This lovely restaurant never disappoints. In my opinion it has the best patio in Denver. The evening lighting is perfect as you sit in a peaceful neighborhood setting among the herbs and berries they grow for the beautiful dishes they serve. The menu items are creative and extremely well executed. Food is as fresh and local as it gets, sourcing from their own garden and local farmers market. I had a salmon dish with summer corn, the salmon line caught less than 24 hrs prior. While we were dining the darling pastry chef snipped tiny basil leaves from the garden for the lovely strawberry profiterole dessert. So happy to see the new expansion that allows for more tables. After enjoying my first dining experience here, I proposed that our group of girlfriends have dinner there again. The food, server, and wine recommendations were on point. Unfortunately, the experience started and ended with a rude and condescending hostess and apathetic and defensive manager, spoiling the evening. While we understand that our table may not have been immediately ready when we arrived, the flustered hostess, instead of politely suggesting us to wait in an area away from the entrance, she scolded us, told us to go out side and alleged that she'd take drink orders while we waited. In theory that would have been fine had she not yelled at us, then refused to provide us with drink menus until we were behind the gate while treating us like kindergartners, and then never had anyone come out to take our drink orders. Not to mention she only gave us 1 menu for a group of 7. When this was raised to the manager, his response was "the hostess already told me" and proceeded to argue with us that waiting outside was the only option utterly dismissing the fact that she could have, and should have handled it more professionally. The manager then proceeded to go to the bar and audibly complain about us to the staff and other customers that were there. In a time where businesses are understaffed and overwhelmed, wait times and delays are certain and expected, but rude, condescension, dismissive, and unprofessional behavior is appalling, to say the least. read more

This place is a bit different--they don't have the usual suspects on the menu. The chef/owner scouts the local markets and creates the menu from what he finds. It is spectacularly not like the dishes you find at most restaurants. It is very "neighborhood-y" and casual has inside and outside dining a bar, and a very nice hostess. The staff is well trained and can give you a detailed run down of the menu highlights which we found were all delicious. The pork Rillette, which is a staple item and never leaves the menu is flavorful and served with crisp crostini, the collar of salmon is so different, not the usual cut of salmon you would expect. The chermoula sauce was perfect with it and it was an interesting presentation. (Order to find out!). We split the cracklin chicken and it was just right for both. The kale/tomato combo salad was fresh and light, the pasta w/pesto was filled with eggplant and sausage-a nice combination. The portions are on the large side for both the starters and mains, and you can always order more. The wine list was great. And the wine guy was great. They know their beverages at Plimoth and take pride in them. They will taste any open bottle on the menu and are very generous. We did have some lovely mint chocolate gelato that was subtle and and a great ending to our meal. The menu changes often, so if you spy a dish you'd like to try, snag a reservation, it's a busy place . Very much worth a visit to try something with freshness and creativity. A real find! I googled restaurants near me and saw this place was Italian (what I was craving) and decided to try. I wouldn't say this is Italian at all, but very modern American and French. A little disappointed cause I wanted pasta, but I love trying new places so it was fine. The food to me was overall .... interesting. There was a lot of veggie options which is what I went with, and I just felt like they put a lot of random veggies together. I know it takes a lot to put dishes together, but I just thought it was a little much. The flavors were very strange. Besides food, this place is beautiful and spotless. The outdoor area was very cute and big. The staff was super helpful and answered any questions about the menu, because trust me you'll have some questions. There's a ton of drink options too. We got dessert and that was very good. I would rate this place between a 3 star, but I feel bad rating restaurants that low because it is a nice place. I made a reservation, and was disappointed to sit facing the street vs. a table, but tbh I'm glad it ended up that way. The dining experience was romantic, relaxing, and the staff made it seem like we were the top priority for the time I was there. It seems as if the food is seasonal, but it was excellent. My favorite was the Pork rillette and the chicken liver pate. If you order 2 or so starters and split a main, I think you're going to be in a good place. I have been here a few times and I have learned this about the plimoth: if something sounds good after reading it on the menu, it will be amazing in real life. When they hit it, it is one of may favorite places. We had the beef tenderloin app, smoked fish app and the crab cakes app. We couldn't pick a favorite. And, I wasn't expecting too much from the veggie pot pie- was I wrong. It is pricey, so you have to be inspired by the menu to spend the money. But, then, you won't be disappointed. And, get the peach/bourbon trifle everyday as long as they have it on the menu. read more

My second visit to The Plimoth was among the best meals I've ever had. I struggle to find the words to describe each of the dishes we had, but suffice it to say they were all amazing. The service was excellent, and it was a very enjoyable experience. My only criticism would be that we were crammed in a bit next to another table and the main path from the kitchen, so we had to listen to our neighbors' conversation while people were constantly squeezing past us on the other side. read more

When you read the menu, the combination of ingredients seem incohesive... pumpkin bread, cheese, and Brussels sprouts? One of the coolest dishes I've ever had, if you can even describe a starter as cool? I was shocked at how well the textures and flavors complimented each other. The presentation of each dish was also elegant and so unexpected from this quaint corner neighborhood eatery. You feel like you're getting food at a fine dining restaurant but don't have to dress up or deal with snobby waitstaff. I rarely review anything on Yelp, but I thought this one would be worth my time. I have eaten at Plimoth twice in the past month. The food is creative, fresh and delicious. The reason I went back the 2nd time was because of the food and because our friend picked the place, so we went with the plan. The service and overall vibe at Plimoth is weird. I had two different servers who both seemed irritated, tired and unhappy with my group. There are a few owners or mangers running around with half smiles and it just felt very unwelcoming both visits. For the quality and price, it is nice to feel welcome. I won't go back, unfortunately. I have worked at high end dining and it just seems that Plimoth is best equipped for two diners per table. Anything above two people per table overwhelms them. read more

We live walking distance to the Plimoth and it's becoming one of our favorite spots for a celebration. The price tag is significant, but the quality is worth it. On our most recent visit, we made reservations for a Saturday night and while it didn't seem like there was a long wait, every table was full during our meal. Our server was attentive and our meal was well spaced, not rushed. We had the spinach salad to start and the artichokes tasted super fresh. We split the cannelloni and the pork, and both were delicious. The cannelloni had a wonderful mushroom flavor and was gooey with cheese. The pork ribs were amazing and the pork belly was crispy and rich. Dessert was a hard choice but we split the pecan gelato and it hit the spot, leaving us satisfied but not too full. The Plimoth set the bar extremely high for other Denver restaurants. This was the first restaurant we had been to since the pandemic and it was nothing short of impressive. I knew that I was going to like this spot when I saw two massive Traegers on their patio (wished we would have sat out there..). Melodie (our waitress) was very personable and knowledgeable about their product. The chefs did an exceptional job and were equally as excited that we enjoyed their hard work. Very passionate group. Fine dining food tucked away in a cozy little building north of city park. The location seems very obscure for a restaurant such as this, but it is always packed (tip: make a reservation, even on a weeknight!) Another hint - this place is pricey! The menu online doesn't show prices, but there isn't a single entree under $20 and the portions aren't for sharing. That being said, I would not call it overpriced, as I have never tasted a dish so outstanding for any less. I ordered the cracklin chicken (I won't even attempt the French pronunciations here) but it was served with a rich and hearty bean sauce. As a disclaimer, I don't even like chicken, but I listened to my fellow Yelpers, and it's safe to say I will be dreaming of this dish for months! My boyfriend ordered the beef bourguignon, then exclaimed multiple times that he wished he had a loaf of bread to soak up the rest of the sauce with! So good! Best meal I've had in years. Went to Celebrate with Wife and Son, and the Plimoth provided us a free champaign to help us enjoy our good fortune. Extraordinary food. Our waiter was super knowledgeable and paid really close attention to what we said - when we were choosing our starters he explained why a specific type of spinach worked so well in the salad, where the heirloom beans came from, remembered that we mentioned we were visiting from the Twin Cities and pointed out a specific Amaro from MN (we tried it in the daiquiri, super yummy! ). They made the meal into a full experience. But also I WOULD fight a man over a serving of that winter spinach salad or the pork rillette. read more

Where to begin, we initially sat outside because it was beautiful weather. After a half dozen mosquito bites we decided it was a big mistake. We let the waiter know and he immediately relocated us to a small table indoors. Very accommodating. With drinks in hand, and the popcorn they seasoned in house we began our experience. The only reason you would offer the last bite to a friend is if you truly care for them, because I know I wanted this one bad. Truly delicious. The main course we ordered the Cracklin' Chicken. This place. I went for the first time a few months ago to celebrate a friend's birthday. We had a reservation for a group of 8 or so, and as we waited for our table to come available, most of us grabbed a drink at the bar. The bartender was super friendly and made some fabulous recommendations on cocktails and beers. Once we sat down, the waiter explained the seasonal menu and partnerships with farmers in the area. Because everything is cooked from scratch, food does take a bit longer to come out to you, but oh my, is it worth it. While we waited, our waiter brought out some complimentary appetizers, which was a great way to keep us happy! At our table, there were a variety of entrees on display. The cracklin chicken, salmon, short rib, and others were represented. I myself ordered the brisket with chili and cornbread. The meat fell was soft. I could have eaten three helpings of the cornbread...and the fennel slaw was a great palate cleanser. Our group shared two desserts at the end of the night. One had apricots and another was a brownie with cherries that may have been the best dessert I've ever tasted. We also had limoncello brought over by the waiter. The staff was super welcoming--in fact, I think we were there 45 minutes after they had closed...we didn't realize, and they never ushered us out! The next time I went back with my hubs, we sat outside for cocktails and an app. He was very impressed with all the produce being grown on site. And they're using it in their dishes. Bravo. Nice unpretentious friendly vibe and the space is open, bright, with big windows and a variety of seating options (bar, window counter, cozy yet well spaced tables). Evening started out strong - friendly staff, good banter, nicely crafted and unique drinks served quickly, interesting wine list. However, the teeny-tiny doll-house-sized martini glasses have got to go. Menu has a little bit of everything which in a way is part of the problem here. What is the focus of the food? Pozole and Miso cod yaki onigiri? Jack of all cuisines, master of well... just some... The Osso Buco main dish with polenta was very good BUT everything came out of the kitchen at almost room temperature, adding a bit more "meh" to the overall dining experience. Again, staff and atmosphere are spot-on, so will try again to see if food experience is better next time around. read more

Fantastic meal and service! I was here last night and cannot wait to go back. Starters - Because of other reviews, we ordered the Cauliflower turnip gratinée to share (2 of us) - It was fantastic! There were at least 3 other small plates we wanted to order, but will have to save it for next time. Main course - For our main courses my friend chose the BSB red porter braised beef short ribs. They were extremely tender with a delicious broth (gravy in looks and taste, but it was a liquid broth). I ordered the Hazelnut gnocchi - the best part of this dish for me was the combo of fried lemon slices + creamed kale + shiitake mushrooms. I wish I could have had an extra side of those items! Service - We were greeted and helped by at least 3 staff members; always nice to see teamwork at a small restaurant. Drinks - I ordered a tequila and grapefruit cocktail (name is escaping me). It wasn't my favorite cocktail, but I planned to get a glass of wine with dinner anyway. I had a medium bodied, Italian red that was fantastic. read more

I have been dying to try out Plimoth for months! I'm so glad I finally got a chance to have dinner here with my BF on a weekday night. Mind you, it still get packed since it's a very snug place so make a reservation because it's totally worth it. Our server was extremely nice and gave us outstanding recommendations which we choose most of the time. The ambience is cozy and can be romantic but is loud since it gets busy. Sitting outside is quieter, so if you're there on a nice night, perhaps opt for that. The food was outstanding. I can't believe how good it was! We were given their gourmet popcorn to start and it was seasoned with their own garden veggies. For our appetizer we got the farmer's cheese on warm brioche. OMG the brioche was so soft, it was like cake. I cannot explain how amazing this dish was. It just works! And gets you excited for everything else you're about to eat. We then got the Plimoth beer bratwurst with German red potato salad with whole grain mustards and the Cracklin' chicken with spaetzle, spinach and bacon. The bratwurst was tender and well seasoned, sooooo good! And the usually I don't eat potato salad but the sauce and the mustard was such a great combination I couldn't resist! The chicken was out of this world as well! It was so moist. Like how do they cook their chicken to make it that heavenly?! The best part was that we still had room for dessert. We needed up getting two bc their portions were light enough and weren't too sweet. We got the butterscotch pot de creme which had a great caramel flavor to it and I loved the burnt marshmallow it came with. The other dessert was a passion fruit meringue with chocolate mousse inside. I know it sounds like a weird combination but wow did it blow my mind! It's terrific. The atmosphere is very nice, but beware, it is very loud, as in you can't hear the person diagonally across the table. The service (Mitch) was superb. The food was excellent. I had the cauliflower turnip gratinee, and the mussels with bucatini. My husband raved about the beet salad and the braised beef shank. I don't see it as a neighborhood eatery. I see it as a destination restaurant. Maybe the surrounding neighborhood is nicer than the block the restaurant is on, but the area immediately adjacent to the restaurant looks a bit like an abandoned war zone. This is a place for foodies to make a pilgrimage to and to go back to try everything on the menu!! read more

Maybe my expectations were too high, but I've eaten at some first class restaurants before and this did not come up to what I expected, given the other reviews. Of course, I'm only talking about the food, because the wait staff was the best I think I've ever encountered. It was a team effort and we were VERY well taken care of. It's just that the food was not particularly special. I had the Crackling Chicken and it was pretty boring. Nothing crackling about it. The skin was a light brown, but nothing crackled (was it supposed to?). Not much flavor either. The veggies were good, but nothing to write home about. Presentation was good. My wife had the Pork chop (some other name?) and it was huge and beautiful to look at. She like it and rated it a 4 star dinner. Cornbread was great and they are rightly proud of it, butoOverall, for a $120 tab, I felt I've had much better fare elsewhere. My table shared the cauliflower gratinee, and it was excellent. The cabbage rolls with mushroom were good, but the standout was my pork chop. The rest of my table tasted it and had entree envy. It came with delicious greens. Every plate had plenty of flavor but wasn't overdone. It's a nice atmosphere. It's cozy and was bustling even on a snowy weeknight. I got the feeling most of them were neighborhood regulars. That gave it a feel much like some of my favorite small bistros on the East Coast. I'd made my reservation weeks in advance, and I'm glad I did. The menu wasn't too big, but the options all sounded good so making a decision wasn't easy. What an incredible restaurant, bar, staff, and meal! This place is a true find. Mitch, our server is PHENOMENAL! Service, tempo, and recommendations were so spot-on, all four of the people in our party agreed to rely on Mitch to select our entrees for us - and we were not disappointed - but we all profoundly delighted. The food, drinks, and desserts were all INCREDIBLE (except maybe the chicken liver pate for two of our members). But otherwise, everyone was absolutely euphoric with everything. I will provide a better, more detailed review in the near future, but after having an awful brunch experience today, the morning after The Plimoth, I needed the catharsis of regaling an incredible meal and getting a bad dining experience out of my head. The Plimoth is an interesting restaurant and an epitome of Denver gentrification. The daily-changing menu and interior decors were worthy of a higher class restaurant (the price certainly reflects that,) but the locale is questionable. The surrounding residential neighborhood where the front patio looks out to is ghetto with run-down houses and ugly front yards. You could clearly tell its clientele apart from residents of the neighborhood as we saw nicely dressed couples and families getting dropped off their cars and walking toward the restaurant, then a group of topless college frat boys hanging in the front yard at a nearby house party. The service was great. Food was delicious and a generous portion. I'd go again just to watch changes in the neighborhood. read more
